When I saw Dragon Shifter… I was intrigued. When I saw who the co-authors were… I was excited. And when I saw who the narrator was… I was all-in to get this audiobook. And I was not disappointed in how this one turned out. It was AHHHMAZING.
Sometimes when there’s co-authors you’re not quite sure what you will get, but with these two; Susi Hawke and Piper Scott, they complimented each other perfectly in their writing styles, and the result was fantastic. If the rest of the books in this series turn out the same way, I cannot wait to get my hands on them. This book was a mix of a Great storyline, romance, and heat. It was fun and interesting following along with the characters in this book and I was pulled into the story from the beginning. We get a great premise and introduction to the series with this book. And I think their pick for the narrator just might have made this story more complete for me I was thoroughly entertained by this book. I’m just not quite sure I would have liked this one as much if I had “read” it compared to getting the Audio narration for it.
Colin Darcy was soooo good narrating this book. He’s a newer narrator so I’ve only listened to one other audiobook from him before and was totally amused by his voice for those characters, to the point that a month later I still remembered his name & voice instantly when I saw him listed for this one. Once again I was enthralled by his narration. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is exactly, but there is just something about his voice I Love. I really, really hope they stick with Colin as the narrator for the next books in this series, I think he can do them all justice for sure. He makes sure each character gets their own distinct voice and puts plenty of emphasis and emotion into each character so that it’s easy to follow along with the story. OMG and seriously, I am really looking forward to hearing more of his voice for Sam (Supporting character in this book, but is the main character in Book two, Alpha Ablaze) He NEEDS to be the voice for Sam..
I really liked how cute, awkward and clumsy Emory is. It was funny how confused he was when he first met Cory (Coryphaeus) and that he thought he was hallucinating. Lol. I couldn’t help but laugh at him & along with him. Cory was great, when he realizes that things are completely different from what he remembers he just rolls with it and goes with the flow, to the point of even having to hide himself inside for months on end to keep from being found. I’m not sure I would have been as calm as he was if I found out I was in stasis for a few thousand years and the rest of the dragons I knew were all gone. And the Heat and chemistry for these two guys is off the charts from the first moment they meet, lust, love and fated mate all in one place makes for a steamy story. One of the main things I was a little confused about though was who the enemies were and where they even came from? And how did they knew about the dragons awakening in the first place, oh and where the dragons cave was if it was hidden for so long? They were there, and then defeated so fast we didn’t really get much detail on what was happening. So since this is a series of books following along with a group of characters I’m assuming and hoping *fingers crossed* that we get more of an explanation in the next book, because that part definitely doesn’t seem finished to me. Other than being a little confused with that part I really enjoyed this book and am anticipating a great follow up and continuation in the next book with the new characters. Hahahaaa. Omg. And the ending line when Blaze comes awake *in Colin’s voice* was Great.
