Beep and his best friend Bob hatch a plan to save Halloween—and their school—in this third book in the hilarious, action-packed Beep and Bob series!
It’s October in space, and Bob is getting excited for his favorite holiday: Halloween. When Bob tells Beep that soon they’ll get to dress up like monsters and get as much free candy as they can carry, Beep thinks he has gone to heaven. But Lani informs them that Halloween isn’t celebrated at Astro Elementary.
Bob cannot imagine life without Halloween! He appeals to Principal Quark, but with no success. Determined to save Halloween, Bob and Lani organize a secret club: SCARES (Scary Costumes Are the Right of Every Student, or, more truthfully, the Society of Candy Addicts who Rely on Energy from Sugar).
As the secret club grows, Halloween fever invades Astro Elementary. Unfortunately, a horde of grotesque aliens, attracted by the treats, also invades the school on the last day of the month. With everyone in costume, no one can tell who’s who. Beep and Bob may have saved the holiday, but can they somehow use their sugar-addled wits to save the school?
This book is sheer joy. I loved it cover to cover. I laughed and smiled the whole way through. I thought it was so clever and sweet. It is a perfect Halloween read. I loved the characters SO much. I wanted to be in the book right along with them. I read this book to my boys and they thought is was so funny too. It is a great book for kid aged 6-9 and for adults that love to read great books to their kids. Adults don't miss out on this fabulous opportunity to read a fun book to your kids this Halloween. I know anyone who picks this up will adore it as much as I did!!!!
This is a hilarious early chapter book about Halloween in outer space. Bob attends elementary school in space and he's completely addicted to sugar. When the sweentner disappears from the school cafeteria, Bob concocts a plan that will get him some candy ASAP.
The only problem is that there other beings in the galaxy that also love sugar. And they're coming for it.
Both my ten-year-old and my eight-year-old read this book and really enjoyed it. I read it after they did and it was a lot of fun. It has lots of pictures and simple vocabulary, so it's perfect for kids in grades 1-3 or for older elementary kids that want/need something easier.
I really enjoyed this book. I was laughing and giggling the entire way through. There are sly jokes that younger kids would be able to understand, as well as references to things on Earth that children can make connections to. The author Jonathan Roth thought this book through very well. I found it very intriguing that the chapters were not called chapters but they were called Splog Entries. I found this to be something that caught my eye while reading. This book can also give children lessons. A lesson I could depict from reading was that everyone is different in their own ways, and that's okay. Overall I would give this book five stars and recommend it to anyone. This would be a book to have in an elementary school classroom library as I think the kids would really enjoy it.
