Sven Carter #2

Sven Carter & the Android Army

Rate this book
Sven Carter—part boy, part robot—is back and now it’s up to him to stop the rest of the Ticks from destroying the human race in this fun and funny MAX novel!

All Sven wants is a normal life, or whatever normal means for a Tick—a cyborg who is programmed to destroy the world. His hopes are dashed when he learns that he is just one of the seven Ticks loose in North America. Even worse, he learns about their master plan to destroy the human race.

In an effort to stop them, Sven speeds across the country in a decrepit RV, collecting the rest of the Ticks—ranging from a pop star whose songs can brainwash people into submission, to a dog whose mission is to raise an army of creatures to attack every human in sight.

Everything seems to be going well as Sven convinces the cyborgs to join him in saving the world. But the very last Tick, One Omicron, is nothing like the rest of them. Until One Omicron can be stopped, the world is in more danger than ever.

Rob Vlock writes fun, funny, fast-paced kids’ books that are perfect for reluctant readers. When he’s not writing, you can usually find him somewhere in the greater Boston area trying to make his trumpet sound like something other than a dying goose. It’s a work in progress.

Rob's first kids' book, SVEN CARTER AND THE TRASHMOUTH EFFECT (Aladdin/Simon & Schuster) comes out October 3, 2017. And look for Sven and his friends to return for book #2 in Fall 2018.

And, if you're really a glutton for punishment, you can find some of Rob's inane ramblings at www.robvlock.com.

BUYING ADVISORY: EL, MS – OPTIONAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

In this sequel to Sven Carter and the Trashmouth Effect, Sven Carter is on the road trying to track down clues to other ticks like himself, destined to take down the world. Sven is a tick, a synthetic human and one of seven deadly ticks loose in North America. Sven and his friends, Alicia, William, and Junkman Sam, set off to locate the other ticks before it’s too late. As Sven gets closer to his goal, the voice in his head telling him to kill his friends gets louder and more convincing.

If you are leaning toward the bizarre, this book is for you. Sven’s journey takes him on a cross-country trip as he faces killer lobster monkeys and a mind numbing (literally) pop singer. There is a lot of action and the characters are fun, though superficial. I’d like to see William developed more fully. Fun, totally unbelievable, over-the-top ride.

I loved this funny, action packed MG sci-fi! In the sequel to Sven Carter and The Trashmouth Effect, our young hero, Sven, who is a Tick (a cyborg programmed to destroy the world) and his friends must race across the country in a beat up RV, trying to find and stop other Ticks (including a hysterical teen pop star with a terrible voice) from destroying the human race. With wonderful characters, a clever plot, and plenty of action - this is not to be missed!

Another MG SF series with a good sense of humor. The plot was a little over the place, and I had problems with some of the travel (where on I-90 is 2 hours from Buffalo and Schenectady? and how do you park an RV near Madison Square Garden?).
