When most people think of unicorns, they think of rainbows and glitter. Grey’s life resembled neither of those things.
Grey, named after what his herd deemed his ugly gray coat, has never had a good life. Shunned for his lack of powers and held captive by the red dragons who plan to sell him to the highest bidder, Grey escapes into the night. He hopes to find someplace safe, so the town of Haven calls to him.
Ryder and Theo are dragons and true mates—the only problem is they are missing their third, the one to complete them. When they stumble upon a broken-down car, the last thing they expect is to find the one they have been waiting for all those years.
Protective and loyal, Theo and Ryder are determined to keep their unicorn safe and encompassed in love. The red dragons have other ideas.
**The Dragons and their Unicorn Omega is a sweet MMM MPREG shifter romance with some knotty heat.**
Lorelei M. Hart is the cowriting team of USA Today Bestselling Authors Kate Richards and Ever Coming. Friends for years, the duo decided to come together and write one of their favorite guilty pleasures: Mpreg.
This one started off a bit slow, I was not impressed at all at first. However between 15-29% into the book the writing improved a lot and it got really good. The author did an incredble job with the characters in this book, especially the MCs but also with a number of the secondary ones. I really loved Grey, Ryder and Theo, they were so adorable and sexy as a trio. The story of their developing relationship was well-done and I loved it too. Overall a really enjoyable sexy read!
I wanted to love this, because...UNICORNS! But there was something that fell flat for me, and I don't know if it was the writing or the story, or what.
There were some sweet moments, and I love the blend of dragons with a unicorn and the powers and abilities of both types of shifters. I think that if there had been a bit more showing instead of telling, I'd be giving a 4 star rating here. I also think that these authors could definitely be a couple to watch for, for those who are fans of mpreg.
ok, this was a bit difficult for me as I just did not really feel the spark. don't ask me why but although I liked all the characters - with Ryder as my clear favorite - I just could not get into their relationship with each other. which made the rest of the story a bit difficult for me.
so all in all an ok read but not a real Highlight for me
Yesterday was Thanksgiving, I’ve been sick for about a week or so, pmsing on top of that. We decided to stay home and just cook rather than join our family’s and possibly spread our sickness. Anyways it was going to be a perfect lazy holiday... until I couldn’t seem to find a book I wanted to read...
I probably started 6 books yesterday, including several I’ve really been looking forward to. Anyways I couldn’t get into any of them... so by the afternoon I was in full panic mode and I decided to look for a short, smutty shifter mpreg. I mean when all else fails those can at least usually hold my attention and while being cute and silly all at once and usually don’t take a whole lot of thinking to get through.
This one was cute but there were so many plot holes and poorly built sentences that made “not thinking that hard” practically impossible. After rereading so many sentences I wanted to quit... of course I’d already started and stopped so many books that I just pushed through it.
I haven’t checked yet to see if this was these authors first book or not. That usually has a lot of bearing on wether or not I try something from them again. If it was their first book I might read another eventually to see if their writing or plot lines improved... if it’s not then I’ll probably stay far far away.
Okay, suspend all disbelief. You're about to pick up a book about 2 dragon shifters and a unicorn. Now suspend all it all to a higher level and then you are set to read this story. There were some crazy grammar errors, unrealistic dialogue, and odd scenerios that simply made me go "HM." Would I reccommend this to my friends, probably not unless they liked this sort of story. I was hoping for so much more and got less than I wanted.
Props to the author, though, for coming up with a new and different storyline. I can't even imagine where book 2 will go.
It had mates, MMM, and freaking dragons for heaven's sake but this didn't really click for me, and I can't pinpoint why. Maybe it was because it was a little rushed, and yeah I get that they're fated mates and that insta-love/lust is a given, but I would've liked to see them working more to get to know each other.
Also would have liked to have seen exactly what the fuss was all about with Grey being... well, a grey unicorn. Sure there was that glossed over explanation of but they made it all sound so terrible but didn't really show why.
Felt confused a lot of the time, because I had the impression the POV's changed within the same paragraph. Also even the story line was interesting, I didn't get enough answers and it also didn't feel like the threeway relation was the most important. So no this book didn't meet my standard and I won't be continuing with these series.
2 dragon mates looking for their third and the find it in a on the run unicorn. Grey is running from the red dragons who he was sold to by his herd. Ryder & Theo are their to save him when his stolen car breaks down.
Grey didn't fit in with the herd. He us a grey unicorn. He runs to the town of Haven were he meets Thorn and Ryder. With them he finds he is the perfect fit.
Instant love, fated mates, dragons and a unicorn. I love mpreg and I must say I have never read about a unicorn shapeshifter who is an omega. The story wasn't fleshed out enough for me. However I will be reading the next book in the series.
The Dragons and Their Unicorn Omega (The Unicorn Omegas #1) was graciously provided to me by the author(s) for an honest review.
"Love Freely and Be Strong.."
What a gripping and intrinsically beautiful new book I have just had the pleasure in reading for the first time. It's quite amazing for a book to encompass all of these adjectives, but, alas, this one did. I have come to love books which contain all different kinds of characters, ones who try to do their best in living their lives the best they could. This latest book contains characters who do just that. The Dragons and Their Unicorn Omega, by Lorelei M. Hart and Ophelia Heart, is a story with dragons, unicorns, and all different types of animals who live in a world where its inhabitants extend themselves for those in need, whether it be for the aid of a neighbor or an acquaintance, they think nothing of it. For them, it's simply the thing to do. That's not to say that others don't exist who would go about ways very differently. Very, very differently. Ways that are unheard of, ways that would be absolutely unthinkable for the norm. This particular book has this type of fascinating and equally mesmerizing type of storyline, one which will grab a hold of the reader and not let them go until the very end..
When I was first presented with the opportunity to review a book containing dragons, I nearly fell off my chair. True story. So, upon discovering that it also contained one of my favorite sub-tropes as well, I immediately threw - in the white flag. I had already surrendered to a great future read. And..boy...it surely was. The Dragons and Their Unicorn Omega is a story with great meat to it, a story with good solid bones. I loved the premise of it. It's one in which contains one of the mc's having a troubled past, much as it was painful to read, but, it's a stimulating premise to read as a whole. As this particular character somehow reaches a stage in his struggling life where, "Enough is Enough," is paramount, he gathers up the strength to escape, literally, and, in order to seek out a better and fulfilling life for himself to be able to live as he is, he heads for the hills, or, the mountains in this case. Now, doesn't that sound like something amazing to read? You betcha' it is..
The Dragons and Their Unicorn Omega grabbed me by the shoulders, and, kept a hold of me as I read, and, I immediately found myself trying not to quickly skim ahead just to find out what would happen at the end of a riveting moment. I fell in love quickly with one of its mc's, Grey, and just wanted to grab his hand and run fast and far away, with him, just so that he would be able to have a better life and leave his past behind him. I adored this young unicorn. I mean, come on! A unicorn! *grinning widely* As I read, I continued to be enraptured with the developing strength of Grey as he valiantly made the beginning steps of simply trying to live again..all the while running from a devious and dangerous type of dragon. Fire-breathing dragons. As Grey came across a soothing little town called Haven, I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, as of all the towns he could have come across, this one would have easily have been the one which would have brought him his ultimate peace.. Right? Wrong. This story is one that brought me down many twists and turns, right along with Grey, and, ultimately hand delivered me to something absolutely stunningly beautiful. Beau-ti-ful.*sigh*
This is a story with great main characters (mc's). I really fell for them. Ryder, a large alpha dragon, and, his mate Theo who is also a big alpha dragon. I love stories with dragons because they are just breathtakingly beautiful creatures not only in flight, but also as they shift. As Ryder and Theo are individually very rare types of dragons, adding to this their overall beauty, this collectively makes a stunning display of strength. I loved the alpha-protective side of both of these dragons, which was draped like a warm blanket over the damaged unicorn, as Grey was this young unicorn who yearned and craved to not only please but to also be accepted within a sheltered and welcoming good family. Gah. The road Grey took with these strong and mighty dragons was not an easy one. But, it was a road filled with discoveries, good, and, not-so-good individuals, and, revelations which blindsided not only Grey but also Ryder and Theo as well..
This story. As mentioned briefly, it has good bones. I liked it. I really did. I think the overall theme is brilliant for today's society, as it may serve as a welcomed light for a darkened tunnel for various readers. As this is the third book I've read by these authors, having read Roses for His Omega, and, Mardi Gras with His Omega, I have come to really enjoy the writing of these two authors. This story, though, was a bit different for me. I felt like it needed more depth to the story as a whole, as well as more character development. With the meatiness of the storyline, there was the potential for superb additions to the existing plot. As it needed a bit more editing, I was a bit confused at times as well. With the almost fade-to-black sexual moments, in addition to what was lacking, I felt that I had also craved to be brought into a story that was filled with the amount of angst that it had originally had looked like it would contain. Even though this review has been affected by the afore mentioned items, I will still keep my fingers crossed for additional books for the series, so as to have the multitude of questions which exist finally answered.
Speaking of characters, as there were a few secondary ones, I'd be very interested in reading about their backgrounds, as there really wasn't much development to them in this story at all. But, from what I read, this has a lot of potential as well. I mean, A-LOT. With names like Jules, Sasha, and, Malinda...they're a shoe-in for late-night reading..
All in all..I absolutely loved The Dragons and Their Unicorn Omega by Lorelei M. Hart and Ophelia Heart. It was a story with a great storyline, an enticing existing plot, and, beautifully strong main characters. There were plenty of all-consuming, riveting, and nail-biting moments to completely sate this reader as there were..you know...dragons and a unicorn...and they're all that is needed for this reader to be content in having read a most exciting, magical and memorable read yet. :)
And I really liked it. The sex was a lot of fade to black and I usually like mine a bit more detail. Nice story and if more with the secondary character came out I’d read more.
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
This was very weird. Might be because mpreg is not my cup of tea but still, it was odd. Really slooowwww in the beginning. I have read a few shifter romances and one with a unicorn so liked that this combined dragons and unicorns. Is there a reason that mpregs feature instalove. 'Cause that seems to happen in many I've read. I guess because of that whole fated mates thing. Anyway, liked the dynamics between Grey, Ryder and Theo - great as a sexy menage. What's up with the fade to black sexy bits?! Anyway, lots of imagination in descriptions of the paranormal small town they lived in and the business with Grey being a grey unicorn. Reminded me of an old Star Trek episode with characters that had black and white faces. Great secondary characters. I see there is a book 2. Hmmmm, maybe..
Who can't be fascinated by dragons and unicorns? As I continue to read tales of shifters I keep wanting them to be real, not fantasy. And the best fantasies to be real would be unicorn and dragon shifters. This story begins with the unicorn escaping from slavery after being sold by his own herd to the "bad" red dragons. So his challenges begin. After breaking down outside the small town of Haven, things start to look up for him. There are still intense times along with joyous times and there is a fabulous HEA ending so I'm looking forward to reading the other two titles in the series.
Interesting concept with Menage and shifters. Also unicorn and dragon shifters are unique.
I wish all shifter books didn't deal with trafficking but I liked the way this was written.
I still feel like we never found out what this mysterious ceremony was. I can guess but should I have to?
I liked the world building. Magic and shifters of all kinds. I'm curious what future books will be about and if we see more of the red dragons getting what is coming to them.
Overall an ok average book. It was well written and detailed. I'm on to the next book!
This book was quite short and could have benefit from more pages.
I never read about unicorn shifters before and wish there was more development about the lore. Things happen pretty fast, like the insta love romance between the 2 alphas dragons & the omega unicorn & the mpreg part.
Also, there was something wrong with the writing, there was no transitions between the scenes, like one second, they were flying as dragons and then the paragraph after there were having sex as humans. It was a little bit hard to follow.
I am also not a huge fan of a 3 ways relationship, even if here I felt all the partners were equals. I do not think I will continue this series.
I loved the premise of this story, and I wanted so badly to love the book but alas the writing to me was just too shallow. I didn't make me feel the love that was supposed to be between them as much as I would have liked. It was also extremely prodictuble, I knew within the first few chapters how it was going to end up with him being more powerful. Also there was little to no heat. The begining started out strong with the intamice between Ryder and Theo but after that It just seem to be rushed if not skipped over entirely. So not awful by any means but I don't think all be ready the rest it the series.
The novel was good. The writing was fast paced and I liked the plot. The idea of all paranormal small town really appealed to me. The main characters had their high and low moments. The interactions with the local residents made this book so much better.
There was a lot of focus going on the threats to Grey that I think his relationship with Theo and Ryder didn't get enough attention. I wish they had more time to just be together. I hope that in the next book they will have a little space too. I would like that. All in all it was a nice read.
This book was a fun and quick read. It had two types of paranormal beings that I just love, dragons and a unicorn. I enjoyed that Grey was a different color from the normal unicorns and that both Ryder and Theo were different for dragons. I kinda saw where the story was going right away though.
Overall, I really enjoyed the read. I would read more from the series. I am hoping further books maintain this level of storyline. It was fun.
Cotton candy light read in this one. I like the idea of dragons and unicorns mixed with mpreg. Unfortunately this doesn't go beyond the stock stereotypes of alphas and omegas. Ryder and Theo are stock growly protective of Grey and Grey in return is sweet easy to please and grateful to be mated to them. Bad guys are easily dispatched and a the obligatory wise woman is there to explain what Grey is and help deliver his baby.
So cute. Loved the story. Grey, Theo and Ryder were the perfect compliments to one another. Grey with his innocence and naivety made all the more adorable when he initiated steamy time. Loved that Ryder and Theo had an established connection already. It made for more focused time on the conflict and fun times as they adjusted to the triad. Great story. Malinda was hilarious too.
This is a feel-good read with a sweet and sexy omega unicorn who falls in love with his alpha dragon mates. Grey is adorable in his innocence, while Theo and Ryder are perfectly protective of their omega mate. I just loved these guys together. There was a little bit of drama with the red dragons but nothing too crazy.
I really like this book and would have given it 5 stars if the editing had been better. I've read this story three times so even with the editing errors it's worth taking the time to read.
Well written story and well developed characters! Grey has been shunned his entire young life and then sold to the Red Dragons! Now, he has escaped and is on the run from them! He needs to get somewhere safe!
A very sweet and lighthearted story. The characters were adorable. There wasn’t much background on the characters or the town they were in, but still a good read.
