Very much a book for those who were born in Maryland, as I was. I don't recall ever having a course in Maryland and its history, which is regrettable. This book somewhat fills that gap. It was written over 30 years ago, so it isn't constrained by the ropes of woke. There were some gaps, though, that I would like to see more written about: the 18th century before the Revolution, and Maryland in the late 19th century.
All in all, a solid history book. An interesting aside is that Mark writes 3-5 pages about each county.
