Follow along as animal families snuggle down deep for the wintertime in this rhythmic and charming picture book perfect for little ones while they snuggle down for hibernation.
It's wintertime, a quiet time, no creatures left in sight.
They're dreaming, snoozing, snoring through each morning, noon, and night....
As winter arrives and fluffly snowflakes begin to fall, animal families gather together to snuggle down deep against the cold. They prepare and cozy up their dens, nests, and underground tunnels. Then they curl up nose to nose, cheek to cheek, snuggle down deep, and sleep.
Super cute book with a regular refrain. You can easily paperclip pages to make it shorter or longer depending on who you're reading to and there's no plot lost. Can do with puppets that match the animals in the book. Love the cozy illustrations, too!
This book talks about how a variety of animals are preparing to hibernate for the winter with their families and how they all snuggle up with each other. I liked this book because it shows what all the different animals do when getting ready for the winter and how they use various aspects of the environment. I would use this book as either a guided reading book or a read aloud book in the classroom. I would also use it to talk about the different characteristics of winter, what types of animals hibernate, and what it means to hibernate.
A soft easy story about animals sleeping in wintertime, yes, some are hibernating, but other animals such as dear are merely sleeping in the snow. There is a four line rhyming verse at the end of each page that ends with, they nuzzle, down, snuggle down, snuggle down deep which is a great phrase for cold winter weather. Each animal gets a two page illustration, the left hand page has text and animals drawn and the right hand side is full page illustration without text.
"Human children and animal babies all go to sleep. That's the entry point that makes Snuggle Down Deep by Diane Ohanesian with illustrations by Emily Bornoff work. Each section involves both some light factual material with the "snuggle down deep" repetition. The book combines nature, poetry, and...sleeping. It's a lovely book with an ecological thread."
“Snuggle Down Deep” written by Diane Ohanesian and illustrated by Emily Bornoff (Copyright 2018, Little Bee Books imprint of Bonnier Publishing USA) is about, you guessed it, sleep. The book begins with the arrival of winter or “slumber time” and uses rhyming verse to describe various animals and the many places and ways they tuck themselves in for winter hibernation. With sweet illustrations and repetitive verse, this will surely be a bedtime favorite for little ones.
