Cows in space: What’s not to love? This Pre-level 1 Ready-to-Read is all about space cows and the wacky and fun things they do!
Space cows fly high. Space cows fly low. Space cows dance three in a row. Space cows are green. Space cows are blue. Some of them quack (but most of them moo)!
Read all about space cows in this book for beginning readers who like to giggle!
This book is adorable, I don't care what anyone says. Similar in style to books like Barnyard Dance! and Blue Hat, Green Hat, this book describes some silly animals and explores opposites.
I picked this up from the library, because... space cows. What more reason do you need? I figured it would be silly, but it was actually quite entertaining as well. Good look at opposites like low/high, big/tiny so you can play the educational card. But also silly and fun ("Some of them quack... but most of them moo.").
Adorable illustrations as well. I loved the silliness of it all.
Yes, there's the whole thing about no sound in space, making the issue with the baby space cow obsolete, but I really wasn't looking for a realism in a book about space cows.
Very cute and entertaining. I really enjoyed this one.
We used this in our Universe themed storytime today. We had a wide range of ages (birth to early elementary) and they all thoroughly enjoyed this story. Plus we can't keep it on the shelf. We have four copies and they are always checked out. Just a sweet, silly story about cows dressed up like astronauts, floating around in outer space. What more could anyone want?

Each page of this book describes something about space cows. Some pages are about the activities these cows enjoy and some are about the way they look or the places they live.
The thing I like best about this book is that it starts out with the easiest the read phrases and gets progressively more difficult. This gave my first grade emergent reader the confidence to keep reading and keep trying as it got harder. The illustrations are engaging yet quick to evaluate so that the reader can focus on the text.
This book is all about space cows and all the different things they enjoy doing! some are big while others are small, some are green and some are blue, some are loud and others are quiet.
I really like this book for beginner readers because it is full of simple words and has characters that kids can recognize. This is a book that I could see a lot of kids picking up because the title is intriguing! I mean come on it's about Space cows!! I also really enjoy the illustrations in this book. I think pictures play a huge role in all books but especially books for beginner readers!
This book is marked as a pre-level one reader so it is definitely to be used for beginning readers. this book could be incorporated into a sight words activity or a rhyming activity!
1. The title: who wouldn’t be intrigued by space cows?
2. The illustrations: delightfully silly cows doing so many ridiculous things... in space. The cows are cheerful (except the one whiny one) and the illustrations clearly depict what’s happening with the words.
3. The audience: this is a confidence-builder and imagination kick-starter. So much repetition for kids who are building their reading skills. So much to talk about. I mean, space cows.
4. The author: is from Michigan.
So pretty much the perfect package for the intended audience.
Space Cows was such a cute read! It had a simple storyline about all the different types of cows in space, but by reading the words aloud, you can find a sort of rhythm. This would definitely be a fun one to read with kids or to work on reading with early readers. I am a fan of space, so I enjoyed all the little illustrations. The colors were fun, and I could see several children really enjoying this book.
This fiction picture book is perfect for beginning readers. It describes the space cows and what they are doing. I really liked this book and would use it on my classroom. For a classroom activity i would have different coloring sheets of cows and have the kids draw a circle around the heads for a space helmet and have the kids color the cows whatever color they want.
Silly little book about cows in space, rhyming text flows smoothly throughout. Only complaint is on the pages of the blue and green cows, only their spots are green, in a pre reading level maybe the whole cow should be that color as a reading clue.
A great K level book to practice reading with my daughter. Repetitive sentences to help with word memorization and several sight words. My daughter especially liked seeing the word "whiny" as I am constantly telling her to stop being so whiny! :)
“I like when he said space cows like toys because I also like toys. I did not like when he said space cows fly low because who wants to fly low?! I also like when they are space cows chips because I’m always hungry.” - Lucas
He’s always hungry? I don’t believe this for a second… - Mama
Completely silly (in a good way). It's a goofy poem about Space Cows - no explanation given or needed - and what they look like, what they do, what they say, etc. Fun illustrations, too!
I stopped at the cover - cows in space suits -- zipping around in outer space. Simple words, great illustrations, very funny. Passing it on to the grandkids.
I love it!!! This was so much fun and it combines my favorite setting of space with my favorite offbeat animal, cows. The text was so much fun to read and the pictures were cute. I love it!
Adorable book with cute pictures that kids will love, even if they may ask questions about how cows can have earmuffs both inside and outside their space helmets at the same time.
