This inspiring story will leave you with a sober appreciation for the gift this life actually is along with the confidence that when we take that last breath, life is not over. After a tragic accident took the lives of his wife and youngest son, as well as destroying his body to the brink of death, Olsen experienced a miracle.
His out-of-body, near-death, and after-death communication experiences have guided him to a life of purpose and gratitude.
A part of me is always skeptical about books like this, but most of me can sniff out a genuine writer, and Jeffrey is real and honest. I appreciated that he addressed his son’s lack of experiencing any shared-death or mystical experience of his mom and brother or the divine. That’s always a question in the back of my mind when I read accounts like these - why do some people not get to experience that reassurance? I cried at multiple points in the book but when the author and his son were able to shovel the dirt on the casket I just lost it. This book makes you glad to be alive and will result in many, many hugs of your spouse and children. Thank you for sharing this Jeff, I feel healed through your healing in ways I didn’t know I needed.
Beautiful, raw, and very fitting read on my road to healing. I lost my dad at 21 and my sister last year- just four years later. My world, as most who have lost those they love, has shattered. Jeffery’s story has helped me embrace more of the miracles in my life and understand how losing so much was never a personal attack or test by God. My Spirit is lifted and readied to confront my own grief- knowing- that all is actually truly, wonderfully, well.
Jeffrey Olsen has written a very compelling, challenging and thought-provoking book. Anyone struggling with the loss of a spouse and/or a child can readily identify with the writer's despair and mental anguish, especially those individuals who feel partially or totally responsible for their family members "untimely" death or deaths, if more than one loved one/family members lost their lives due to one's inattention or distraction.
Being a Bible-believing Christ-follower, some of the "spiritual experiences"/interactions with his departed loved ones related by the author were difficult to comprehend and accept, but there as many instances in the Bible of similar experiences, that it was difficult not to accept these encounters as real and valid.
I do not know how the author could endure the events and resulting grief and pain with God's grace, strength and comfort/peace.
Compelling! The author shares his tragedy and the spiritual experiences that ensued. He didn’t just have a near-death experience but continued to have dreams and impressions that added to his understanding. Seeing a mans perspective to trusting God was refreshing. Nothing about his story is condemning of other faith interpretations. He seems to be able to understand all faiths after his own experiences.
I read this book after hearing Jeffrey speak at our local Maui Iands group. This book explains so much about death and how we can continue our connection and communication with those loved ones. It's also profoundly inspiring to understand that even in the midst of pain and challenges, our life has meaning.
Beautiful, honest, and example Of humility and courage.
With a wide open heart Jeffrey tell us his story Of recovery From such an accident and lost, to choose joy and embrace life, leaving behind judgements, guilt, and victimhood. Incredible inspiring story of life. Thanks for Sharing in such an genuine way
This true story is so compelling and honest. Take the journey through a real life story of love, loss and God’s guidance in every step. Thank you for sharing your story and May God touch every reader to feel the love you have shared with your storytelling.
The author shares the story of his tragic accident, the near death experience that followed, his journey to healing, and how all of this shaped his life. It’s mostly details from his life and not so much what he experienced ‘from the other side’. An inspiring memoir about love, the threads that bind us, and gratitude; a gentle nudge reminder that ‘we don’t die’.
I was curious to read this near death experience because the author who experienced it is Mormon. His experience caused him to question religion. I get the feeling he is now a nuanced member. All these NDE stories have the same message. We are here to learn in our experiences and its all about love. This is a really interesting and inspiring read!
Spell-binding account of Mr. Olson's horrific automobile accident in 1997 when his beloved wife and baby son were killed. Fascinating near-death experiences followed. Well written and very inspiring - highly recommended!
This book confirms what I believe, the insights into how life is, why we’re here, the lessons we have to learn & how there are only two emotions, fear & love, the greatest of these being LOVE ♥️ I highly recommend this book
A great true softwood live, faith, deep personal struggle and the knowing our souls are eternal. Here here to learn and !love. It's that simple. Thank you for sharing such a beauty and deeply personal journey.
I loved this book in every way. Life affirming, intimate, vulnerable, soul enriching, faith confirming journal of Jeffrey Olsen's NDE and its impact in growing him richly and widely through spiritual encounters, life challenges and deep connections to love.
Powerful, profound, moving memoir. If you choose to believe the nuggets in this book you will gain much peace and understanding about the "what and why" of life. Read this book in two sittings. Couldn't put it down until I read the last page.
I heard the author talk on a talk show my husband was listening to. I was so moved and immediately searched out the title and bought it. I was not disappointed. I had a hard time putting it down. What a beautiful message. I will Choose Joy.
I have read many books about people who experienced near death experiences but this is beyond and encompasses so much more than other book on this experience that I have read.
God gives us what we need to know and experience when we’re ready - I bought this book a while back but only read it now - may we all find unconditional love x
After a terrible accident, where jeff suffered tragic losses and severe injuries he was comforted in the knowledge that his wife and son had never really left him.
