I'm far from your typical girl-next-door. My piercing blue stare coupled with the ink that winds its way around my arms throws people off, judging who I am before they've even spoken to me. It doesn't bother me anymore... I'm used to it. Putting up a front and wearing my steely exterior like a wall of armor is something that I've perfected. I've had to become this way. Everyone that I've ever met has treated me like dirt and thrown me to the side like a piece of trash. So what's the point in making an effort just for me to get hurt? There isn't... and that's exactly why I am the way that I am. Protect myself first... always. My past has taught me that much. The very people that were meant to love me unconditionally turned their backs on me when I needed them the most. With their lifestyle and the company they kept, I shouldn't have expected anything less. But... I never expected him to turn his back on me. The one person who made me feel safe. The only one who ever really cared. I've moved across the country to get as far away as I can... from all of them... but deep down I know that they aren't finished with me yet. I know it's just a matter of time before they finally catch up to me, and when they do, I just hope I can make it out alive.
Book 1 left you with a cliffhanger that plays into book 2. This book though is from Keeley's perspective. If you haven't read book 1 you still get the story of Keeley in full in book 2. If you have read book 1 then you are already stressing because you have to know what happens next. Keeley is a strong but misunderstood woman. She has led a life that no one in the little town she calls home knows about, not even her best friend. She has secrets that no one knows. Will those secrets ever catch up with her? If they do she could lose everything she holds close to her heart. Hunter is the biker every woman dreams about. He is strong and tattooed and just oozes manliness. But something his biker brothers don't know is that he has a huge heart and it belongs to one woman. A woman he was forced to turn away from years ago but that doesn't mean he ever let her go. Circumstances force these two to once again come together. The story from the past, present and future is amazing. Is it a happy ending or a sad ending? Well I can say this, you will cry with Keeley. You will hate with Keeley. You will feel. Then say...when is book 3 coming out???
Wow. What an emotional ride!! I was crying non stop and then I was laughing non stop. This author made you feel what her characters were feeling. Damn. Keeley is hiding from her past and now, it's catching up. Hunter let the only thing that was important slipped away. Now he is fighting for it.
We previously met Keeley in One Moment which is Book 1 of the Little Hollow Series. Keeley has a dark past and as a person she is closed off and unsharing of her feelings as a result of this. Keeley is Sam’s bestfriend and business partner in the salon they own together. Keeley had been feeling on edge for a while thought someone was following her but tried to put it to the back of her mind until her apartment is broken in to and she is it kidnappped.
Hunter has known and loved Keeley his whole life. When Keeley turned eighteen she had a choice to make, it was did she want to part of the club that her father chose over her and her mother or did she want her own life with no ties to it. She chose her own life and that was why Hunter and her couldn’t be togther because he loved the club and for him that was his life. Keeley’s father made her stay at home when she turned eighteen and help him with the bills and running the household much to Keeley’s dislike but when her uncle Taz came around one day and tried to force himself on her she fought him off but knew that wasn’t going to be the end of it. Taz had done the same thing to her mother and eventually she turned to the bottle and then left them she couldn’t take anymore. The following day her father accused her sleeping with a rival club and disowned her, he ordered Hunter to take her away and that was the last she saw of any of them until now……
This book goes through what happened to Keeley when she was kidnapped, the horrific things that her uncle did to her. It was sometimes very hard to read but on the other hand it completely consumed me as I wanted to know how it was going to end. It shows us a real inside in to the life Keeley had before coming to Little Hollow and why she keeps her guard up.
Hunter knew that Taz was up to something he was acting strange and his brother was hitting the bottle hard so he thought whatever was going on he was involved too. Hunter was going to find out what was going on and when Keeley’s father allowed her 24 hours to find out he took it. Hunter found his brother at their mothers grave sobbing and he demanded to know what was going on and when he realeased that Taz had Keeley locked up for weeks he felt sick thinking of what he might have done to her. So they headed off on a two hour journey to find her in hope that it wouldn’t be too late….
Keeley is saved, her uncle is dead and all she can think about it Hunter, she had to see him know that he was ok and thank him for what he had done. When these two were united OMG the tension, the yearning that they had for each other even after all these years was fantastic. Keeley needed Hunter, he knew her inside out and loved every inch of her but could they be togther, will the club stand in the way the true love……..
I loved this book and give a well deserving 5 stars. I feel that although this book is Book two in the series it also could be read as a standalone if you haven’t read book one.
Book 2 of this series and it did not disappoint. The first 20% was a recap of book one, jiust told from Keeley's point of view, but once we got up to where book 1 ended, wow! This book was much darker than book 1, but it makes the story perfect! Keeley's kidnapping is horrible and I wanted to jump into the book and beat the crap put of *****, but I was glad how the story ended. Hunter, what can I say about him? He is your typical biker in the sense of how much he loves bikes, but he isn't into the drugs, violence and club whores like a lot of bikers are. He had eyes for one woman and one woman only. I was so glad to see how this story ended. It was perfect! I look forward to the release of book 3, and finding out about Faith, because she is a shell in this book. She has a past and it will be interesting to see what her story is.
This book!!! This book sucked me in and spat me out. I was in dire need of some chocolate and a fluffy pillow when I was done. The first couple of chapters were a bit slow to start as they were re-iterating parts from the end of book 1. But from chapter 3 onwards I was hooked. This book took me on such a wild roller coaster ride, that at one point I put the book down and stared into space for ages just thinking wow. This book is definitely not for the faint hearted as there are some scenes that you might find disturbing but as a reader I feel that if those scenes weren't in the book, the book wouldn't be the book it is today. If you like a bit of a darker read and you have a penchant for hairy bikers this book is for you.
*Read as part of KU* Wow this book had me gripped from start to finish with yet more emotional filled words that gave us Keeleys story! The first part is some of the story from book 1 told from Keeleys POV then we get hit by the rollercoaster after Keeley goes one of the most traumatic things you could ever experience. One good thing about this is it brings Hunter back into her life again.. hot tattooed alpha protective biker what's not to love about this guy! This pair separate are a force to be reckoned but together they are dynamite! Love the MC aspect.. love the characters.. love the story.. and would love to see Faith getting her story at some point too!
The book started at a bit of a slow pace - for me, I think it was hampered by the flashbacks - although they were from a different person's POV, I felt some of it was unnecessarily repetitive as it was all covered in the first book. However, if you haven't already read Sam and Connor's story first you will find it more helpful.
Once the story picked up pace, it was emotional and gut wrenching at times - you really feel for Keeley and what she goes through. I loved the relationship between Sam and Keeley - it shows just how strong true friends can be for each other.
I also loved Lewis and really hope his character gets his HEA in the future, however, I found Faith a bit one-dimensional and couldn't relate to her so I'm not sure I would read her story in the series.....although I have a feeling her story may well include Lewis....so you never know!
This book is definitely worth a read though as it has a great storyline - gripping and full of suspense.
Omg! Our girl keely was taken and we get her back story and then we meet her first first that is also a guy that she was in love with but he also kinda betrayed her does she forgve him? Does she get save and get back home? Loved this story and all the drama and even the chemistry between hunter and keely! I def cried in some parts poor keeley!!
An amazing series. A little dark, but i love that. It hurt your heart at times and you just wanted to help. Thats how it made you feel. I was on the edge of my seat, my heart was skipping and that, my dears, is a sign of an amazing book!
This can't possibly be the end in this series! A lot of T's not crossed and I' s not dotted! That keeps me from giving it 5 stars! Otherwise a really good story!
Hunter was raised in the MC and it is all that he has ever known however he was the one that was forced to ensure that Keely left and never looked back no matter how betrayed she felt. Keely has had no contact from anyone in her past and she now owns a beauty salon with her best friend Sam and has started over. The only problem is she feels she is being watched and is uneasy. When her past becomes her present the consequences are more dire than you can imagine and nothing will ever be the same. This story is an emotional roller coaster, the characters are well developed and it is a story of triumphing over whatever life throws at you. Although parts of this book are hard to read the end result is well worth it and I highly recommend the experience.
OMG...This book! I'm an emotional wreck after reading this. My heart! Where do I even begin...I think I held my breath for 3/4 of this. Danielle is an amazing author that has delivered a breathtaking, heart wrenching, emotional, shake your head in denial, grip your seat in fear, sob your eyes out in agony, then smile and laugh about it book! I love it and highly recommend it! This is the second in a series but could easily be read as a stand alone. I can't wait to read the next one!
This was a great second book, it picked up right where book 1 ended. This time though it is Keeley's story though.
Keeley was a great character in book 1 so I was looking forward to this one. We finally learn more about Keeley's character and get to know her more. There are lots of questions and answers through the book that kept me reading. I loved the biker element of the story. I knew Keeley would have a colourful past but what we go what so much more. I really felt for Keeley at times. This is one of them books that's take you a ride with the characters. Hunter's characters also added more depth to Keeley's story, I really thought I knew where her character would go but there were many twists and turns thrown in. This can be read as a standalone but I would recommend read book 1 because it will give more background to Keeley's story.
Overall another great gritty romance read. I can't wait to read book 3 in the series.
* I received a review copy in exchange for an honest review.
Not every childhood is peaches and roses but none should be like what Keeley has dealt with and what we are shown thru flashbacks. When she deals with being abandoned again it doesn't break her it makes her stronger. The betrayal and disappointment in one person always on her mind but never discussed. Until the day her past comes back with bells on in the worse kind of way. She hated the life and all it stood for with good reason, and now it was back.
A dark story not for the faint at heart. This story is told with haunting clarity and style. You feel every single this and you are there while Keeley survives each brutality. It is brilliantly written to wring every emotion out of you as you feel the betrayal, the anger, the humiliation, the struggle, the loneliness the love, the friendship, the support, the determination. This story is a standalone but it also includes another point of view from book one plus it includes some of the characters. Awesome Sauce.
When I'm With You is a filled with lots of drama, some hot and not so hot bikers and some more drama. Danielle Dickson is also a new author to me and I’m so glad I found her.
The prologue had me going WTF just happened. The first few chapters left me feeling like I knew Keeley and how she felt. I became upset a few times about Keely’s behavior and I wasn't quite sure why she was so quiet and withdrawn, nor did I understand what caused her to be that way. The author gives you tid bits here and there about what happened to Keely, but nothing conclusive until well into the book. Drama unfolds and Keeley is brought into an unthinkable situation and everything at this point comes together.
Although I was frustrated with the book at times, it was an enjoyable read. I just wish that there was more back story to Keeley in the beginning of the book. I felt like more information could have been given and it wouldn't have left me questioning things. Without giving much I felt like the book dragged on at a certain part and kept going where it might have been ok to end that part sooner. Don't get me wrong, I did ultimately enjoy reading When I'm With You and felt like there was a strong underlying message in the book.
I think the second to last paragraph sums up what I ultimately took from this book -
"I’m not a product of my upbringing or experiences. Neither of us are. I’m a project in the making for my future, and hell, I’m going to take it by the horns and rock the "bleep" out of it, not caring what anyone else thinks about me."
I loved how through life's crappy experiences and struggles that Keeley stood tall and chose to overcome everything.
I look forward to reading more from Danielle Dickson in the future.
When I’m with you by Danielle Dickson The author has stated that you do not have to read the first book to read this one. However, I would highly recommend you do read the first book (One Moment – Connor & Sam story) before starting this one. Reason being, you will connect better with the characters. This is Keeley story and my, what a story it is. What I really liked was how Ms Dickson brought the MC Biker theme into play. She was also very clever in introducing us to Lewis and in the beginning I was almost sure that Lewis was a sure thing. Lots of questions are answered about Keeley and her past. You really feel empathy towards her. You understand why she has such a strong bond with Sam. I loved that we got to hear Hunters point of view. I fell in love with him a little more, each time I turned the page. It took a while for the two to reconnect and I really was wondering where the author was going with this story. She did not disappoint. This story has so much going on, so many emotions. The plot is wicked and full of suspense. You never know who the knight in shining armor is going to be. I really enjoyed this book. The conclusion was perfect and well summed up. I do need to warn my fellow readers that there is violence/abuse as well as sensitive scene in this book. If you are prone to situations that can cause a trigger – steer clear. However if you can handle the dark, depraved and sordid situations, that eventually gets a HEA, then I would highly recommend this book. Reviewed for Hot Books and Sassy Girls Book Blog
When I'm With You is the second book in the (Little Hollow Series ) by Danielle Dickson ,and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this series so far. Danielle Dickson has given us a story that is filled with drama ,and some hot and some not so hot bikers. This is Keeley's story and wow what a story it is ,when Keeley turns 18 years old she has a decision to make and that decision is to stay with the bikers club or to leave everyone behind and her choice is to leave everything behind. She moves across country just as far as she could ,just to get away from very everything and everyone. But she knew sooner or later their would come after her ,because their weren't done with her yet. But her biggest thought was would she survive the out come or what? Keeley and her best friend Sam owns a beauty salon and is starting over, but there's a problem Keeley feels like she's begin watched and is feeling quite uneasy. But look out when her past catches up with her the consequences are so dire than anyone can imagine and nothing will ever been the same . I found this story was an emotional roller coaster ride and the drama had me on the edge of my chair from start to finish .The characters were well developed and the story line flowed smoothly .I could tell you more about what happens next ,but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this story, you won't be disappointed.
Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books Blog When I got this book I was a little wary about it. The first book in this series didn’t met my taste completely, but I wanted to give this author a second chance since I liked the character of Keeley and really wanted to know what her background story was. Well, let me say. I wasn’t disappointed. Her story was way more than I expected and even though the book started a little slow with the scenes we already read in the first book, just from Keeley’s point of view it sped up after the first third and the way it sped up was… Just wow. It was full of angst and excitement and more than once I was scared that the couple wouldn’t get together in the end, because of many reasons. So many. In the end I was glad that I read this book. It was so much better than the first one. It wasn’t even in the same league as the first one. I would like to see more of these two characters and get maybe a novella to see where they went with their lives.
This is an amazing story and one I would have probably not read was it not for reading the 1st book in the series prior.
This book has a MC theme to it and the reason why I would have normally just flicked past. However; I am so glad I didn't know this before reading and took the book for what it is. If I had not read it I would have missed out on a great story.
The book follows Keeley who we met in the 1st book. We get a lot of questions answered that were raised previously about her past.
Who is the biker that is hanging around? Why is she so secretive? What happened to her at the end of the last book?
Whilst this is book 2, it can be read without reading the 1st book. I personally though would read the 1st one before reading this. You will then know who some of the characters are and their stories.
I hope you decide to download or add to your TBR list.
This author has done it again! After Book one in The Little Hollow series I was left wanting more! And boy did Danielle deliver. This story can be read as a standalone! We follow Keeley and Hunter throughout this book and we get to know Keeley more and find out why she is the way she is. The author seamlessly intertwined an MC element into this book, making it a running storyline but not the main theme. I wont go into too much because I DON'T want to give the story away but all I will say is that hunter is H.O.T woo! I can't wait for more from this author!!
What can I say, Danielle has out done her self with when I'm with you.
I love keeley load her character is written amazingly and she is so firey.
I love the twist going from a sleepy little town to a mc crew in the middle of it and I must say the way that part played out with keeley drew her to open her heart to her child hood love hunter and damm can I say Danielle has mad him so hot in this book
So thank you Danielle for another brilliant book that I will say to any one and every one you must read
Heard about this author from a friend during my gathering in Dec 2016. So started reading her 1st book "One Moment".
However, it is not a must for you to read the 1st book before reading this new one.
Really enjoyed my reading because of her creative writing & felt my emotions throughout. That's really amazing! And I just can't stop, but continue reading & reading :)
Bravo Danielle Dickson! I can't wait to read your 3rd book!
This book completely blew me away! The story pulls you in on the first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I didn't put it down until I was completely finished. I absolutely loved Keeley, her strength she shows as a character is astounding. I can't wait for more from these lovely people in The Little Hollow Series.
It's a compelling story that could have been great. Even though it's an ARC, there are a lot of inconsistencies and errors. Things that could have been found by a proofreader. I enjoyed the person Keeley was to be. But I felt that Hunter was more a forced character. I don't know that I'm going to continue this series though I am curious to find out what happens with Faith.
This is the second book in the Little Hollow Series. The characters take you through a rollar coaster of emotions and adventure. Keeley just keep you hook to the book with her strong will character. Cant wait to see what happens next. Recommend this book
When i got this book I wasn't very well so wasn't paying much attention it took me a while while i was ill to twig it was a follow on it was totally gut wrenching at times but i loved it looking forward to the next one another great author
This book had my heart twisting and turning!! Wow!! We met Keeley in One Moment (if you didn't read that first) and this is her story. I tried to figure out what Danielle was going to do with Keeley but this was not what I ever would have imagined!! Hunter is a beautiful man who's hardened by experience, just like Keeley. They grew up together within an MC and their experiences with the club were different. This is a love story but it's got a lot of darkness to it as well. Worth reading no matter what!! As usual, Danielle is a genius at sucking you in and keeping you from putting a book down!! Read this book!!!
When I'm With You is the second book in the Little Hollow series. This is Keeley's book. Finally find out what happened to Keeley and all about her secretive past. This book is a little dark and contains triggers some may find hard to read.
Excerpt: “Look, if you’re going to come and do this every single night, I’m going to one-up you and disconnect my buzzer.” When no one replies and the buzzer stays quiet, I chance a look out of the window but I can’t see anybody, they must’ve ran off. I shrug and replace the phone to the wall, but jump as a tapping noise catches my attention. My body goes rigid as I realize it’s coming from the apartment door. I stay as still as possible, thinking it might’ve just been my imagination, but when the three taps sound again, I know there’s someone there. How did they get inside? I know I locked that door! I tiptoe across the wooden floors and into my kitchen. “Just a second,” I shout, trying to keep my voice sounding sleepy so they don’t know I’m more alert. I reach over the counter and pull out a knife from the carving block and make my way over to the door, pressing my body against the wall beside it. “Who is it?” I ask, keeping my voice low and airy. No answer. My hands are shaking and I steel myself to look through the peephole we have in the door.
Excerpt: He stands over me and I flinch as his hand wraps around the blanket, tucking it more around my body and stalking around the back of me again. I instantly curl into myself as he swipes my dripping wet hair to the side to look at the wound he’s created. “Would you stop shaking, this needs to be stitched and I can’t do it with you moving about like that,” he bites out. I squeal and hop out the chair, jaring my knee as I do so but not really caring as I press my back against the wall to get away from him. “You’re not going anywhere near me with a needle!” I scream in fright and his lip curls up. “Sweet girl, you’re forgetting my number one rule. What. I. Say. Goes.” With each word, he takes calculated steps toward me. I’ve had enough. “And I think you’re forgetting that I don’t give a flying fuck what you say!” I grit out.
