After her father’s death, Annemarie Jocelyn returns to the farm, where she grew up with the heavy duty of managing her family’s legacy. To her surprise, she finds the memories rushing back, and the ties to her childhood home still strong in her heart. Old friends, and even the pinto pony she deeply loved as a child, are there reminding her of a life she had long forgotten. Will she be able to simply tie up any loose ends, sell the old place and head back to the city?
Still trying to clarify the details regarding her father’s death, Annemarie chooses to make the place run as it used to. To her side is Ash Hammond, the handsome neighboring rancher, devoted to protecting her. Without knowing much about his past, trusting him is a risk, but her heart commands her to do so. Is this fateful meeting going to change her fate for the better, or will she deeply regret her decision?
The two of them will need to set on a difficult mission in the goldmines and face multiple perils that will either bring them closer together or tear them apart... Will they be able to find the answers they are looking for? Can love prevail in the darkness of the mines?
Lovely clean western romance. After years in the city and her father’s recent death, Annemarie comes home to the ranch. She finds that her father was murdered so begins looking for answers. A nearby rancher, Ash, joins her because he’s worried about her safety. Then follows adventure, excitement and sweet romance!
I hate giving any less than three stars. I gave them to this book because one-star reviews are a death knell to indies and self-published authors. I couldn't finish it, though, so I won't count it as part of my book challenge, even though Goodreads will list it there. I tried really hard to read this but it just stressed me out so much. There were some really odd phrases and the dialog was stilted in so many places. I just couldn't linger in the story like I prefer to do. I think I read up to the 20% point, but I just don't have time to spend on a book which is causing more stress than enjoyment. I think the plot has potential. I think the characters could be a little stronger, a little deeper. And this book would definitely benefit from having more eyes on it to help with another editing run. Don't give up Aurora Hanson! You're going to get there.
This book may be loved by others, but it wasn't for me. I thought the characters lacked depth and were one-dimensional. There were few-to-no descriptions of any of them, making it even harder to connect with them. The story itself was slow and predictable and I dragged myself to the end. The only thing that kept me reading was I wanted to know who killed Annemarie's father.
A bit about the story now.
Annemarie has lived in Denver for at least the past ten years and decides to come back to (not sure of the name of the town) only to find out her father had been shot in the back and had died. She showed no emotion over that. She was surprised, of course, but as for grieving, no. She decided she was going to make the ranch what it once was. Did she get the job done? Don't know. Don't care. Her father was dead, nobody knows who killed him, and there are some cattle rustlers at work in the area.
Meanwhile, the neighbor guy, Ash Hammond, sets his sights on her and decides to help her with anything and everything. Talking about a guy who'd lost his gonads. Ugh! He was a wimp and a simp and thought Annemarie was so beautiful and such a good rider. He was the one nearly swooning. I thought he was pathetic and if there were an epilogue for this book, he'd be running to get her slippers, get her cool drinks, and fan her on hot days then eagerly ask her if there was something else she needed. L.A.P.D.O.G.
I hate to be so negative in any review. I know how hard it is to write a book and these reviews mean everything. If you like a smooth canter to your stories without a ton of drama, weird dialogue (something will be stated in a paragraph and then the dialogue will follow), and no steam, this book is for you. It just wasn't for me.
AnnMarie finds herself inheriting the ranch she grew up on. Regretting that she didn't get back sooner to see her father, she finds out that he was killed. On a mission to discover the truth of what happened, she gets help from neighboring rancher Ash Hammond. They find themselves searching for a gold mine that her father had claim to, coming across a herd of stolen cattle and bullets being thrown in their direction. Without giving much away, they find themselves falling for each other but will it be possible? Will too many things get in the way? And who's behind all of it. A great story about a woman who's determined to make her ranch great again in a time when that was unheard of. I'd highly recommend this book. I read this as an ARC for an honest review.
I had a difficult time finishing this book. The only reason I did was to find out what happened to Annemarie's father and his belongings. Punctuation, adverbs and adjectives were missing in places they should have been. Not just run-on sentences, but run-on paragraphs. Conversations were shortened and described almost like a book report. Words were used that belonged in more proper usage, or if someone used that sort of language, but not in a historical romance set in Colorado. It was difficult keeping up with all the running on and jumping from one thing to the next without proper separation. I would have liked to enjoy this book, considering the premise, but I was disappointed.
AnneMarie returns home upon news of her father’s death. She is bright, driven, determined, and admirable. She quickly decides she would like to restore her family ranch and build it up with more horses and cattle. This was an interesting story that had several mysteries to solve, a handsome neighboring rancher Ash Hammond (a strong, helpful, and concerned gentleman with great taste in horses), a suspicious sheriff, missing cowboys, and so much more. It was a completed story with several very likeable characters, some villains, and an HEA.
Home to Find Love is a very sweet, clean, Western romance. Very innocently written, it isn't full of sex scenes which was nice in contrast to authors that put that stuff in there for shock value. There were a few points where the book could have used an editor to tweak a few things, some punctuational errors and at one point the same character was being referred to by two different names. Plot kept the story moving and interesting.
A historical ranch story! If you like cowboys and horses, you will enjoy this book! Annemarie went to live with her aunt when her mother died and is now returning home at the death of her father. Annemarie is a great female protagonist. She and neighbor rancher, Ash Hammond, seek to find her father's murderer when the sheriff refuses to help. You will enjoy the action and romance in Home to Find Love. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this book with a western feel and a murder and mystery made it very enjoyable plus it was clean Annemarie a strong young lady who now own a ranch because she was told her dad die. She soon found out the turth traveling home Ash Hammond her next door neighbor she turned to for help. Being a good neighbor helps her every step of the way. Adventure and a mystery more dangerous a real page turned.
Aurora Hanson,"Home To Find Love", it was ok as a read. I got like half way through the book, and to be honest I didn't finish it.. It just wasn't interesting to me and the characters they were ok but they seem full to me. I have read some of her books and they weren't like this one. Don't really go by me ,maybe it's just me,I just wasn't found it not interesting at all, like the story had been told before.
A good book to read, it moves fast and death, drama, danger, friendship, mass theft, horses, , and love. The main character shows courage and determination in the beginning then begins to back off after catching her man. Most strong people do not change their personality after the danger is over or in a time of danger.
Sometimes you need a sweet book. Even if the storyline isn't believable. Or period appropriate. It's just nice to have everything ok, nice people winning, bad guys losing, and no strife to the young couple. Is it a great book? No, but it's a happy book. I needed that today. Oh, and it had great horse characters.
Annemarie Jocelyn comes home when she hears that her father has been murdered - shot in the back . She meets the rancher in a close spread, Ash Hammond, and the two of them want to figure out what happened. Not only is her father gone, but so are the large gold nuggets that he had retrieved from the the gold mine, but the papers that showed ownership.
Annemarie goes to her family ranch after finding out her father had been been murder and she tries to set the ranch back to the way it had originally been. Stolen cattle, dead cowboys, stolen gold nuggets, stolen papers and a gold mine add to the suspense of this story. Who can she trust and who is an outlaw?

I am not a huge romance fan, but because this book contained action and some mystery I found it more interesting. There were so many characters and so many sub-plots that it was at times confusing and hard to follow. In addition some events were repeated so many times during the course of explaining to all of the many characters that it got somewhat monotonous.
I enjoyed it. I liked how the main character "gets to it" right from the start. She does a lot of good to everyone around her. I like her approach, and the book reads well. A good afternoon read.
I found this book intriguing. I like a book with a lot of action or suspense and this one had it. It also had a lovely romance going on and the characters were great.
This was the first western romance that I have ever read and I absolutely loved it.I thought the characters where strongly written. There was A bit of mystery to be solved written in which was great.
I enjoyed reading this book for the second time. I love the things this book highlighted such as first sight attraction, determination to complete a task and bringing people together in a fight.
I Liked this book. It had an interesting storyline, but I felt is needed an Extended Epilogue to pull everything together and answer questions left unwritten.
This suspenseful Western romance has good characters. The story repeated itself at times and dragged a little for me. The outcome was predictable but still enjoyable.
As much as I wanted to enjoy this story, I found the writing to be stilted and just couldn't enjoy it. I love to read when the words flow smoothly and this book just did not provide that.
Annemarie was quite a woman. Her character was very well developed. She had definitely learned some skills in her time away from home. This story was very well written and was a great read.
