brief little taking of account of unescaped hegelianism without hegel. it's not clear to me why an intellectual current in the humanities should need, or be led to, theoretical justification beyond its own lights, especially not in systematic vision. so i think i am a friend of gombrich's (rather open) conclusions

The fun and insightful kind of Hegel-bashing - the kind that shows with examples just how easy it is to disavow Hegel in name but retain him in spirit (pun intended by the Cunning of Reason).

Choice quote: "Some people are allergic to Hegel and I confess that my own tolerance is low."

The next word is, of course, a "But".
