The story revolves around Nidhi and Abhay. They are madly in love and have been together for five years. Until one day, Nidhi decides to walk away from Abhay without giving him any sort of explanation, that too on their engagement day. The story portrays an actual state of ambiguity and deception because this is how it occurs. Seldom do you know that you don't desire something or it is not ample for you, but you are unable to give the other person the legitimate logic for the decisions you made. Nidhi spends a lot of time soul searching, and she knows it subconsciously, but afraid to say it loud. With the help of each other, they come to the conclusion that remodels their relationship dynamics. This fast-paced book is best suitable for young romance-loving readers.

Many times it happens, the things left unsaid. Letters to My Ex is a story of things left unsaid and unspoken words and trying to discover what it was and how it affected their relationship and bring them to a crossroad.
The thing I like about the story is the way protagonist Nidhi bared it all in the letters she writes to her ex. She said it all and opened her heart to Abhay to read it like a book. Nidhi knew what she wants from life and Abhay and not afraid to say it and take the plunge. The character of Nidhi is a strong girl.
The author sketched the characters beautifully. The characters are sorted and the author knew where to take the story. It is a short book which hardly takes few hours. Looking for a new plot story. Give it a try.

I have read each and every book of Nikita Singh and ‘Every time it rains’ is my favourite read. I was so excited to read this book. Its a short book with 138 pages. One can finish it within few hours. The book revolves around Nidhi and Abhya. Nidhi who broke her engagement with Abhay writes letters to her EX. Their love for years was finished when Nidhi called off her engagement.
The title and cover of the book are catchy and attractive. I had high expectations from the book.
The plot of the story is in form of letters. The letters that Nidhi writes to Abhay. In between they exchange emails. The plot is repetitive by the author. In the first chapter, it was becoming hard for me to connect with the book. There is no in-depth narration, nor it was catchy. The pace of the story is too slow. The tempo of the book is also dull. The narration of the story is good, but it was not as convincing as her other books. The language used by the author is simple, interesting and easy. The story goes smoothly but not a structured one. There were some things which are missing in the story. It was like an incomplete story. The ending was sudden and unexpected. The characters that author made are really strong. One will fall in love with Abhay’s character. A smart, Matured character. I didn’t like Nidhi’s character. It was much like a childish character. A lost one.
Well, overall it’s a simple and good read if you like to read repetitive things. Overall it was a good read.

What exactly goes inside our minds after we break up? If we still love the person, how do we overcome our broken hearts? Imagine that you are deeply in love with this person but you break the relationship because all of a sudden you felt that this other person does not love you anymore. What would you do? Keep on loving the person? Or break everything and run away from the person?
Nikita Singh's Letters to My Ex starts with our protagonist, Nidhi's, letters that she writes to herself stating why and how she broke her engagement with her fiance Abhay. But readers are deprived of it. I was kind of wishing for snippets of romantic memories from Nidhi and Abhay's past so that I could feel more attached to the characters. But I could not.
I really wished I could get an elaborate story of Nidhi and Abhay's relationship, but this was not possible within a mere 138 pages. I liked the book and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes reading short, simple and crisp realistic love stories.

Letters to my ex was a rather disappointing read for me and the 2 stars are the result of an aggregate of various factors taken into consideration.
The content is repetitive as the protagonist writes about the same feelings again and again, but each time with a different wordplay. The same way academics drag their essays to reach the word limit.
It is a clear example of how assumptions, overthinking and lack of communication can ruin a relationship.
The book would have been appreciated had it been a young woman’s journey about moving on, with some life lessons or at least a plot to offer.

I had a hard time reading through this work. A girl runs away from her wedding. She takes time out later to analyze what just transpired. She reasons with herself and then with her boyfriend who she embarrassed by doing the disappearing act. It was hard on me to go through all the stuff that goes on in Nidhi’s mind. Nidhi is the main protagonist. Abhay is her much underrated boyfriend. Abhay is too sorted out, this freaks Nidhi out on her wedding day, she expects him to behave differently while he keeps up with the perfectly sorted out demeanor. Perhaps that’s why she quit. Or was it the kissing episode involving Abhay and a female friend? Anyways, in the end, things work out fine – I am not going to say if Nidhi and Abhay patch up for sake of readers who still want to read this book.
As I stated above, I see Nidhi in an unconventional light – I would never date her. I believe she over cooks every little incident. She’s given to over-analyzing events. I had to go to sleep so many times while reading her letters, I guess I came to know this about myself after reading her letters – I am no love philosopher. I don’t know if I can or cannot but I WILL NOT justify everything I did or didn’t do…that’s like doing everything twice, or three times…at the very least, that dastardly repetition is being inconsiderate towards time and the natural flow of things. Too much emphasis on analysis of what happened just belittles the pure emotional content therein. One of my friend told me when we were little – love is like pickle, take too much and it spoils the whole experience. Like a banal ritual. Another friend had told me – soon as you say ‘I love you’, you’ve just foolishly declared that you demystified the depths of this beautiful feeling. Instead, there’s far more to cherish in momentary catching of the eye and accidental touch of the fingers.
Abhay might as well be the marquee husband. Too much of a good guy. No such thing at least as of now, I can vouch on behalf of my species I can tell you that the likes of Nidhi will need to wait another couple of years till Artificial Intelligence truly kicks in and creates something of a cyborg like Abhay. This guy will listen to you patiently when you are confused and angry or just plain confused. Then this cyborg will say something that will make you weak in the knees again. He will never love you like a man. That will be a good reason to run from weddings.

Nikita Singh's latest book 'Letters to My Ex' is very different from her previous books. This book is in the letter-format. It has a unique format of narration. I was very excited about this book since the time when the author announced the book. I have read most of her previous books and loved them. Also, since the title as well as the cover of the book is very attractive and seems interesting, I had really high expectations from this book.
The plot is quite simple. The main characters are Nidhi and Abhay. They had been in a relationship for almost five years. At their engagement, Nidhi calls it off, and thus their long loving relationship comes to an end abruptly. However, the reason for this is unknown at the beginning, which seems confusing. Nidhi decides to pen down her feelings in letter format. Also, Abhay's point of view and feelings has been explored.
You have to read the book to know why Nidhi broke the engagement, and also what happens to them later.
The author has well portrayed a romantic story in a different format. The language is lucid, which makes it a very easy read.The book is divided into twelve chapters, each title named after a month. The book is very fast paced. The plot is not very deep and it is quite hollow and cliched. The book at times seems to lack the property to keep the readers glued to the book. It is very fast paced. It did not quite meet my expectations.
Overall, the book is a short, easy light-read and fans of contemporary and romantic fictions can give it a read. You people might like this book.

I have always loved writing and reading letters. This is the story of Abhay and Nidhi, a couple who were in love, were about to get engaged. But on the day of the engagement, Nidhi leaves without an explanation. Why did she leave ? What will happen to both of them ? These two questions form the crux of the story. The narrative is in form of letters,letters written to each other . I loved the first part of the story and it captured all the emotions one feels after a breakup. The ending was pretty predictable

I was so stressed out with work when I started this book late one night. And I finished it in a single sitting. This was so real , so heartfelt and so intimate. I thought of all the sent and unsent emails I wrote in love , after a fight or sometimes even now out of so much overwhelming love that only makes sense with words.

The only thing I liked is the letter format..it helps in connecting the reader to the protagonist almost immediately and the reader can feel the words. Not a great read, but a good light read..

Little pre-declaration : I bought this book when its launched but as i read the book's reviews i found out that it's an emotional rollercaoster ride. so, i shelved it and couldn't find myself to read it untill now. been dealing with same kinda thing back then. I don't know what i was thinking.
Review: Nikita singh is genius in touching your heart. {Not like vampire literally or maybe the looks she got tells otherwise (You can say i crush hard on her XD)}.
her last book "Everytime it Rains", i thought was a light read but wasn't. i thought this book is going to be emotional stuff but somehow its a light read.
that doesn't mean it isn't a page turner the emotinal web of overthinking surrounds the character throughout the book. you won't take a second guess over why the main character nidhi did what she did.
My only problem with nikita's literary work is that her books finishes fast. I read her books from top to bottom like i even read the barcode behind.
The book is all about unfinshed words. the words we often don't say thinking it might hurt otherperson. (I dealt with same thing, not exactly).
it showed the testosterone induced humans main problem 'we get incident specific'. We just think of what happened in the moment and not what's been piling up in the eyes of the estrogen induced humans.
Its about taking a break, hurting each other, getting back together, jelousy and almost everything you see in young-adult fiction.
I finished it in 3 days and i consider myself a slow reader.
This book proved that "Girls maybe don't know what they want, but guy's don't know what they have until it's gone".
conclusion : Its not her best work but definitely a new format and fresh peice from her. waiting for her next :)

‘Letters to My Ex’ by Nikita Singh seemed like a good change from my Fantasy and Dystopian Books. This book is written in the letter-format which is unique and unusual form of narration.
This is my first time reading book by Nikita Singh.

The Plot revolves around a couple Abhay and Nidhi. They have been in a Relationship for almost 5 years. As being in a relationship for such a long period of time they naturally decide to get engaged. Which is Called off by Nidhi. Which stunned everyone (even as a reader you wonder why would she do it???)

To Cope with the issue Nidhi starts to Pen down her Thoughts and feelings through letters. Abhay’s & Nidhi’s POV is shared which sort of help you gain insight into their Issues and Views. You have to read this book to understand why Nidhi broke off the Engagement.

Though the pace of the story is narrated in an fast paced manner you tend to feel that something is lacking & you are missing out on certain aspects of the story.
Given that this is my First book by Nikita Singh. My experience wasn’t great. It was an Cliche Romance Read with nothing that could grab my attention. Though people who prefer to experience “epistolary”, format should definitely read it.

The use of purple shade on the cover gives out the necessary romantic vibes. The blurb is crisp doesn't divulge any crucial details and piques the curiosity of the reader.
To begin with, the narrative was quite different, unlike any other romance novels or any novel of other genre for that matter.The story was subtly narrated in the form of letters written by Nidhi. The letters beautifully encapsulated the thoughts and emotions felt by her. Her confused state, the way her thoughts constantly spiraled in her mind, her uncertain career choices had a personal connect. Emotions are not known to be constant. They are often known to be fleeting. The letters helped herself to keep a tab on them and cope up with her loss. They were a symbolic of the transition of her relationship from the time of its bloom to the time where it broke off. The protagonists were portrayed to be responsible adults quite unlike other clichéd college romances.
The pacing was odd and irregular. There was a point where there was a platonic shift in the plot without any event to justify the change. I also felt that the author could have added more characters, more locations and stretched the story to some more pages.

This book can be called as the ramblings of a little girl in her personal diary which is what the author means. They're personal letters but as a novel, it really got to adhere to some basic standards. The protagonist is very shallow, where she expects everyone around her to be perfect, picking on their faults and constantly whines about EVERYTHING despite having some of the best people with her. From college to work place, she has an attitude of "I'm not the other girls. All i need is to be in a quiet corner and read" like-
I'm so frustrated i started reading this and this looks like something the author wrote overnight. I've liked her other works but this? Not at all that i had to write this review as a warning to NOT READ IT unless you want to deliberately make yourself miserable.

The book started out great with raw heart wrenching emotions that Nidhi pens down as 'writing therapy'.
It deals with the devastating loss felt when a person's first love ends. The descriptions of the feelings of abandonment, confusion and loneliness were so realistically written that the reader is sure to visit the throes of despair of their own break-ups. The book is sure to resonate with everyone who has experienced a loss but after a time it felt like the author has described the same feelings again and again with just different wordplay.

Just one word: crap.!
I mean what the hell... Seeing it written by Nikita Singh I ordered & read. But not worth it.
Without any particular given reason in the starting , on the engagement day she broke up their 5 years of relationship, getting worse day by day & not discussing with him what the issue is. It doesn't work like that.! Then eventually in the letters , she mentioned the reason for the same.
Please don't waste your time for this one.
I would have given -ve star if they allow me to give.
I mean what the hell... Seeing it written by Nikita Singh I ordered & read. But not worth it.
Without any particular given reason in the starting , on the engagement day she broke up their 5 years of relationship, getting worse day by day & not discussing with him what the issue is. It doesn't work like that.! Then eventually in the letters , she mentioned the reason for the same.
Please don't waste your time for this one.
I would have given -ve star if they allow me to give.

I was pretty distracted in the beginning of the story. Unlike most of the readers, I would have guessed the plot way back. With every chapter, I felt it is a story which was meant for ‘Me’. I like the simplicity with which the plot and character have been created by the author. There is no glamour to describe the demeanor of Abhay or Nidhi (the main characters of the novel). An essence of college love have been well described, which would take the readers back to their college days. Yes, every college has an eye-candy who is attracted to that nerdy girl. Every college has love stories, out of which some reach the aisle whereas some don’t. Will Abhay and Nidhi make it to the aisle? You will know once you read those letters written to the Ex.
Every month of the year, a letter was written to describe the turmoil inside. The letters which never reached the Ex, were referred as “writing therapy”. Yes, it works for most of us where you jot down every emotion, happy, sad, angry, and excited. It helps you recollect your thoughts and emotions. Every letter would bring you at a point where you would wish to take sides. It is one of the most innocent love stories, I have ever come across. I guess, I won’t review any longer otherwise I would spill the beans.

Repetitive and messy by design
Could relate to the overthinking protagonist
It was such a quick read, and a good one at that. I like the format. I've meaning to try this format for a while, at least three WIP manuscripts, but I never get to finish it. This time, I think I just might.

Letters to my Ex by Nikita Singh is an epistolary novel. We get to know the entire story through a collection of letters and online chats. The protagonist of the book, Nidhi starts writing these letters after she called off her engagement with her long-time boyfriend, Abhay. The exact reason why she called off the engagement and broke up with her boyfriend is revealed gradually through the letters.
Although it is difficult to understand and like Nidhi in the initial chapters, we gradually understand her point of view and why she behaves a certain way. Abhay is a more likable character, but Nidhi has many layers to her personality. This is the reason the character of Nidhi fascinated me more than Abhay, who seemed to be a one-tone character.
However, I felt "Letters to my Ex" could have been so much better. The novel couldn't totally engross me into the lives of Nidhi and Abhay. Although I tried hard to feel for the characters, I wasn't able to do so. It dealt with a very important question: Can you trust the same person again who broke your trust?
Letters are a great way to express emotions, but I felt a certain restraint here. Instead of the letters being repetitive, I wish they had a lot more depth. Having read Nikita Singh's earlier books, I feel sorry to say that this book couldn't meet my expectations.

This book as I felt as first is not any bunch of letters which different people write to their ex but is a short story about Nidhi and Abhay who were in relationship for 5 years and finally on the day they were getting engaged, Nidhi ran away leaving everyone there surprised and confused on what made her break her relations with the man she was in love with.
I liked the way the view points are put in in this book but I wasn’t able to absorb the fact that the characters were in their mid twenties. I guess the entire plot would have made more sense if it the they were in their mid or late teen years.
Ignore the ages they played, the book overall is a simple and quick read. The vocab used is very friendly. There were repetitions at many places but then Nidhi’s character is portrayed in such a way that repetitions made sense in the letters.
The words used to construct the plot did touch my heart making me feel sad and made me feel loss of emotions at the character’s low points. I loved the college love which was described in an impressive way and the way Nidhi says – Writing letters was like a self-therapy for me.
I love the cover of the book and the book title, very attractive and soothing which made me want to read this book. The book is well edited and is error free.
Pick this book if you wish to avoid any complicated read for a while. A very simple and effortless read it is.

I like the letter-format narration, but somehow Letters to My Ex felt hollow. I could not connect with the emotions and found myself more confused than the protagonist Nidhi. It felt rushed and unplanned. The only solace was the last few letters, but other than that, it was a disappointing read.

I am going to invent a time machine to back in time and stop me from reading this book. Would be better if I stop Nikitha Singh from writing this book in the first place(can save lives).

It's a good one from Nikita, This book gives short description to us how relationships are sensitive and partners should be transparent in their actions.
