Effective Parenting: a New Paradigm

Rate this book

Effective Parenting book is about positive parenting, to grow, learn and change with the times we are living in. During the time of our parents and grandparents parenting was no big deal. In fact, in almost all cases it was a shared responsibility. Since then the onslaught of change has created a new society and a new value system. The responsibility of bringing up the child now rests squarely on the parents. This apart, the expectations of the parents from the child and vice versa have increased phenomenally. With one and increasingly more often both parents busy in search of the 9 to 5 (or is it 9 to 9!) utopia, the situation is becoming a 'pressure-cooker' one.

Effective Parenting book suggests parenting tips for the new age parent. A make over which requires he/she to be a Memory-Maker, an Empathy Emperor, A Humour Promoter, A Sports Catalyst and a Guru of Values.

Giving a new direction to parenting books, the Effective Parenting book is neither jargon ridden nor infused with rhetorical advice.

An added bonus for good parenting tips is the treasure trove of delectable and inspiring stories punctuated with school capers and sports action, problems and pranks, madness and mirth, and lots more - captivating tales parents can share with their children. Effective Parenting is a book for parents and teachers.

I really liked the Stories mentioned in each pillar and was able to cherish my childhood memories. The values mentioned in the chapter Five " The pillar of teaching the values of values" are very much essential for the current generation whom are influenced by materialistic things and should make a serious attempt in passing on to GenNext.

Effective parenting at the age of 22 might appear a bit strange, but this book caters to all age groups. To be a good parent u need to be a good person, an enthusiastic being, a combination of lot many things and an early start is always better. This book without being a preacher, teaches with examples taken from the life of the author covering most of aspects that helps bringing about all around development of a child. it also has sections dedicated to short stories which add to its appeal. A good read for all....grandparents for what they missed out, for parents on what they still can work on, for children to realise its not easy to be parents afterall !!

P.S. It made me appreciate n fall in love with my parents all over again !!
