Xena has never gotten the comic adaptation she deserves, and it looks like this run isn't going to be any different. Instead of telling stories that could be 'lost episodes', Meredith Finch delivers a painful reboot, taking an entire issue to tell what amounts to 5 minutes of an episode. Instead of the Warrior Princess we came for, we spend most of our time with some third rate villains and their fourth-rate Three Stooges shtick. Instead of Xena's rebooted backstory being told on the page, it is delivered in a steaming hot info-dump of stilted dialogue.

I was so happy when I found #1-#4 in a comic book store in Ann Arbor, I had to buy it. Also it only cost cover price of four dollars, not double or triple that in euros as I'm used to in Austria.

Xena is still fucking hot, Gabrielle is stilly annoying as fuck.

Sadly, I didn't realize the series would consist of five comics, so I gotta hunt for #5 now. At austrian prizes probably. Yuck.

The story itself shows a different version of the meeting between Xena and Gabrielle, it's also really short in each comic, with over a third being ads for different comic series altogether.

The start of a new series and it appears Xenia has just left her dark past and is meeting Gabrielle, but a slightly different one to the village girl she meet once upon a time.
I’ve got a little behind with this new series, so I’m not sure what has been happening to cause such a change, but the art work was good, Gabrielle has a sharp, witty tongue and Xenia is just as dark, broody and reluctant to have a friend along for the ride.
Worth picking up.

Kinda bummed it's a retelling and not a new story, but, still, it's Xena.

This is my first time having read a Xena: Warrior Princess comic.

She is kind of like Wonder Woman; however she is mortal - with the power to kill gods.

She is also of Greek mythology - having relations with Aphrodite, Ares & Callisto. Xena is accompanied and partners up with a bard named Gabrielle and together their journeys leads to many battles with bandits and forces of evil.

Though I'm quite certain there might be crossovers where Xena comes in contact with Hercules because of both characters being of Greek birth and fought in battles of Mount Olympus.

I have zero experience with Xena comics, but I did used to watch the show. The dialogue seemed very true to the show. I was annoyed by the boob socks. The bad guys, and even Gabriella, fell into some hard stereotypes.
