UNDER FIRE!
Brad McKenna was running for his life--and each painful step drew him deeper into the tangled saw grass and mud of the Everglades, deeper into the dark solace of unconsciousness. He awoke to find himself facing a silver-eyed angel of mercy.

But Wendy Hawk was no celestial spirit. She was a flesh-and-blood woman with human fears and desires, and her reclusive existence had been rocked by the intrusion of this rugged, hunted man. Wendy Hawk, a widow who lives alone in the Everglades, finds an unconscious man face down in the swamps near her home. She takes him home and nurses him back to health. When she finds out why and how he came to be there, she isn’t sure she wants to be his Angel of Mercy anymore. But, neither of them can fight the attraction they have for each other.
This is a typical Silhouette/Harlequin type romance from the 1980’s. Some references are dated, but it still seems pretty contemporary. The chemistry between the two main characters is crackling, if a bit rushed, and somewhat melodramatic. The final confrontation was suspenseful and satisfying. Looking forward to the next book in this series featuring supporting characters from the last two.

Undercover DEA Agent Brad McKenna is wounded running for his life in the Florida Everglades when Wendy Hawk finds him. Seeing his injury, she takes him to her home in the swamp. Wendy quickly senses his desperation. Drug dealers are looking for Brad and he needs somewhere to hide. What better place than a home buried in the middle of the Everglades.

Brad and Wendy fell into lust about two minutes after they met. I found the romance portion of the book to be rushed and didn't like the way they would continually argue about something, then fall into bed. I really liked the suspense portion of the book, hiding from the killers who wanted Brad dead. My rating: 2.5 Stars.

Well, it was a change of pace. Not suspenseful, a LOT of love making in the Florida Swamp for a DEA looking for a drug dealer. How lucky can you get running from the bad guy into the arms of a beautiful woman alone in the swamp, whose husband, a Seminole Indian, had been murdered by a robber when he went to town to help his "almost" sister-in-law get something for her wedding. As the saying goes "All is well that ends well."

From the moment that Wendy Hawk saw Brad McKenna lying in the swamp with a bullet hole in his scalp she knew her life would never be the same, and it wasn’t. Brad was a DEA Agent that had been undercover with a Drug dealer before he and his partner were discovered. Brad made it out but his partner did not so he was determined to hunt down the killers but now he had Wendy to protect too. This was a very good story.

Just finished this one. It wasn't a difficult read and I was through it in a day. I didn't realize how old the book was until I went to find it here on goodreads. The story was nice but I also found it predictable.

Reissue of a 1988 Silhouette Intimate Moments category romance. Not bad for the genre and the writing/plotting constrictions of the time. Flashes of Graham's skill in creating intriguing characters and dialog shine through. It held my attention at a time when distracted doesn't even begin to describe my state of mind. I liked one of the secondaries, Eric Hawk, well enough that I added his book—Borrowed Angel—to my TBR shelf.
