This was actually a very poignant book. While coach Leahy was a legendary winner, and while his exacting approach to excellence led to the near exaltation of Notre Dame football, his sacrifices made to reach those achievements leaves one to wonder whether those sacrifices are worth it. His family suffered greatly for his success in his career. I am grateful for my faith which has taught me to strive for balance. I’m not making judgments on his family and character, but I enjoyed pondering the worth of success in this world.
