H. L. Roberts is a writer from a small Kentucky town. She comes from a big family, and often finds herself sitting with them around the TV watching movies, and just staying close, which is how she believes a family should be.

Reading is one of her passions, along with advocating for mental illnesses, as well as epilepsy. She wants to bring awareness to the invisible illnesses; the ones people know so little about. She uses her other passion, writing, in order to advocate for invisible illnesses.

23:27 is her debut novel and is the closest to her heart. The issues dealt with in this novel are the kind that touch everyone in one way or another. She hopes that each reader takes something from this book and learns from it.

I do enjoy reading this author's work. Though, this isn't the type of story I usually pick up and read it was very interesting.
Mikal is sent to stay with his Graham because of his 'condition.' His mother thought he wasn't safe staying with her any longer. Needless to say, where he's gone the Hiad (police) are strict when it comes to magic. They're known to kill on the spot. And according to what I've gathered, it's all because of war and Delmar's fear of magic.

The most interesting part is the dragon and the information he reveals.
Mikal and Alexander (Delmar's son) are young and at this stage don't see a change, but according to the dragon, the future is so much more different than the present.

It's an interesting story and a great start to the series. (ARC provided for an honest review)

It may be well-written but it’s completely copied off the show Merlin. She changed the names and time period but everything else is identical. Completely, even the dialog. She did this with another one of her books too. Lazy writing or illegal? You decide.

I'm not normally drawn to fantasy. Legacies was a fascinating story that drew me in instantly. I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with compelling characters and their fateful story. I hated to say goodbye when I reached the end of the story, and can hardly wait to find out what happens next in their world when H. J. Roberts writes the next book.

First of all, thank you so much to the author who sent me this book to give an honest review.

It took me a little time to get into the story, but when a dragon appeared in chapter 5 I was super excited. I love dragons!!
The story is set in the futuristic UK, most of the time in London, although also for a short time in Ireland. Living in the UK right now made it therefore even more interesting to me. Although it is set in the future it often seemed to me that I was in the past. But I guess that is the charm of the UK. :D

The next thing that caught my attention was the similarity of the two main characters of the story to Merlin and Arthur. Throughout the book, more and more facts reminded me of the TV show Merlin. So I recommend this book to all Merlin obsessed people out there who want a kind of modern story about their heroes.

Personally, I thought this story was okay because of the fact of the whole story being set in the future kind of irritated me. I guess that when I think of the future I think of more technologies and space, while this futuristic setting kind of goes into the other direction, where we don't evolve too much. This point of view is also totally fine, just wasn't what I expected and therefore kept confusing me through the whole book. Also, I know it is super hard to combine the introducing of a new world with tension in the first book of a series, but at some parts, I wished that the tension would have increased more than it did.

Altogether, I sadly have to admit that the story so far didn't really sweep me off my feet, but I think it is a lovely idea and can really recommend it to everybody who loves Merlin stories and is open to another futuristic world than we usually get to see.

Beautifully written sci-fi fantasy book. Mikal is one of the main characters and is very special. He truly has no idea how special he is. I really enjoyed reading this extremely well written book and am looking forward to reading mom.
