後宮デイズ~七星国物語~ #1

Harem Days: The Seven-Starred Country Volume 1

Rate this book
Hisui, who works as a drag-king artiste in the Kinkei travelling Troupe, is very popular with women. She catches the eye of the Emperor, and gets invited to the Harem. She joins the Harem because the Emperor reminds her of her missing older brother, but the jobs she is given are...? Popular since it was published in "Monthly Princess", Volume 1 of a Chinese fantasy!

The manga is about a talented theater girl who became close to the emperor only to learn that he resembled someone close to her and that she was doing impossible tasks for his majesty. 🤔

The art style is good. It contains both amusing and action scenes to read with the funny characters. However, I am unable to connect with the story. 😅

By the way, Higara is so adorable and witty!

The manga's cute. I only bought it cos i had spare 4 dollars in my amazon balance. The MC is great and funny. She only cares about sweets. In fact she decided to follow the emperor only because he offered her sweets. Relatable.

It has bad pacing. Like its too fast for me. The plot is very eh. It definitely suits the price.

3.5 Solid cute, and expecting it to get better.

Exploring the Japanese-published translations on Bookwalker. It's a varied bag (and a lot of smut) but there's awesomeness in there!

--- series review

This was pretty great. Solid characters, people go places and do stuff, there's a bit of romance and some mild angst but all in all not a lot of sitting around and pining, and I got invested in the whole cast, not just our leads. The final 2 vols are shorts catching us up on "what happened next" which is always loads of fun.

It has a strong "wholesome fantasy" vibe, so if you like the classics like Serei no Moribito or Twelve Kingdoms, or more recently Snow White with the Red Hair or Yona of the Dawn, it's worth a try. Apparently inspired by the Tale of Saiunkoku, one of my more frustrating anime experiences as I seem to remember watching very many episodes ending in a romantic cliffhanger ARRRGH.

2020 Read #136

This is an intimidating series since it’s longer, but it reminds me of The Story of Saiunkoku a little bit. I am intrigued by which directions it could take going forward.

Exciting and fun

This was exciting, fun, and not quite what I expected! I’m absolutely going to read volume 2! 4.5 stars. Recommended.

It had a few funny points but needs more. I'm gonna move on for now, I might pick it up again later.
