It was his lips.
The way his stare sent shivers down my spine.
The way his rough voice whispered my name.

So I caved.
I did what I knew I shouldn’t.

But as quickly as he’s there, he’s gone.
Leaving me confused.
Devastated.
I hope I’ll never see him again…

Then I do.

He’s my new boss.
And he has secrets.

THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH WORDS PEOPLE!!! NOT. ENOUGH. WORDS.
Ava Harrison I applaud you.
Sordid is a masterpiece.

Sordid will easily sit in my top reads of 2018 list. The writing, the story, the characters, the development, the connection, the intensity, the angst. EVER-Y-THING was STELLAR!

Who doesn't love a wounded hero?
Grant Lancaster is a tempting, sinful dish of a man. His wounded, broken life and soul drew me in and gripped me SO TIGHT. I was addicted to his cold demeanour, it made him seem so much more perfect as his walls came tumbling down and his love for Bridget magnified. Bridget is strong!! She's powerful and she owns herself. I connected with her. I related to her. I applaud her. She is my favourite Ava heroine yet!!

Sordid takes every raw emotion and pulls them apart until you're left dangling by a thread. The angst and tension pulsates from this novel in huge tidal waves that crash and burn relentlessly against the heart and soul. Grant and Bridget are intense and explosive and damaged beyond compare. Their HEA is the sweetest reward.

Ava Harrison is a writer that not only draws you into her stories but practically writes you into them too. The feeling I get when reading Ava’s words are insane. I can picture everything, as though I've been written in as a side character, sat in the same places her characters are. Her delivery makes me FEEL every single thing she writes about. Overall the experience you get when reading an Ava Harrison book is breathtaking!

I cannot express how much I loved this one. It's a top, top, top read. 5 stars doesn't come close to expressing how amazing it actually was!

ARC-REVIEW

Sordid: A Novel by Ava Harrison was a great read.
I haven't read anything by this author before and I do worry sometimes when dipping the toe into fresh waters how I'm going to find the current.
No problemo here, that current swept me along giving me a fantastic flowing ride from start to finish.
Sordid tells the story of Grant and Bridget, unknowingly connected through more than there chance meeting and dumpster dive.
Grant is utterly miserable and trapped with his life and sham of a marriage in name only.
The only thing keeping him out of the divorce courts is his delightful daughter and Hotel business in that order.
He's also estranged from his family with his so-called pride stopping him from admitting to them they were right about his gold-digger of a wife Chelsea.
All those "I told you so's" he's imagined from his father and brother are not helping matters either.

 photo tumblr_mndek4lbr91qa8hgro1_250_zpsgexszzm7.gif

Bridget needs a job, any job after her summer intern position doesn't pan out and her second chance at a new one ended after she walked out because of Mr Grabby hands.
Well, let us just say she can't afford to be picky.
She's already had to go cap in hand to her big sister for her work connections.
And as much as she loves both her sister's shes sick of being the invisible one.
So when her last chance of employment just happens to be working for her sister's boyfriends estranged brother.
Well, Bridget hasn't really got that much choice if she doesn't want to move back home.
So she decides to just keep it on a need to know basis.
Expecting a lowly general dogs-body position Bridget is amazed and pleased to be bumped right up to PA to the boss himself Mr Grant Lancaster.
That is until she walks in Monday morning to find herself face to face with Her abandoner from the other evening, Dumpster dude.
And he's not actually that pleased to see her.
In fact, I think its safe to say Grant is a great A Arse to poor Bridget making her new job a bloody living nightmare.
It's obviously a form of self-preservation to try and keep her as far away from himself as humanly possible.
To avoid temptation.
I felt so sorry for poor grant as soon as I realised what kind of predicament he was actually in and I hated Chelsea, his wife, with an actual vengeance.
It was obvious he was basically a decent fellow with a heavy case of pride.
Though I felt real sympathy here I also wanted to tell him to man the fuck up and deal with his she-devil of a wife.
I felt ultimately there was so much more he could attempt to do before throwing in the towel when he and Bridget finally succumbed to there feelings.
Bridget, I also liked but at times I did find her a tad wishy-washy in regards to her self-image.
I do get it, but she did know the score before getting involved with Grant, so feeling threatened by his wife, well she knew he was married.
The actual relationship between these two when it did get going I loved.
I suppose Initially, I felt a touch sorry for Bridget, the lovely guy she met had turned into a real dick.
So I was so happy for her when things started to head in a more positive direction.
Until they weren't again.
TOTAL TRAIN WRECK!!!
Is all I'm going to say.

 photo 114cfcdfdbe53cd6fe887c7b8ef2d2ad_zpswclisvtv.jpg

Sometimes going cap in hand to family is not such a bad thing when you've hit rock bottom.
I loved that Grant loved Bridget enough to suck up his pride and deal.
It showed the depth of his feeling that he was willing to fight for there Love and HEA.
This was such an emotional read and I really enjoyed reading it.
It was romantic, angsty and different and hooked me straight from the start.
I was provided with an ARC of "Sordid: A Novel " By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Holy smokes! This book was pretty flipping good! Ava Harrison gives good cover and even better epilogue!!
I mean, seriously, could this cover be any fucking hotter?? I have just one word for my reaction to this gorgeousness.

So, after I recovered from my covergasm and dived in I was very impressed. Ava Harrison is a new to me author. I've admired her covers and blurbs for a while and even purchased the previous books in the series, but my ARC whore tendencies always prevented me from reading them. I'm all in now! Grant and Bridget ignited the flame and I can't wait to stoke the flames! I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

So, here's the breakdown: A serendipitous meeting between strangers, the novel focuses on Grant and Bridget's struggle to remain professional once they realize they not only work together, but have an even deeper connection.

I loved the setup. Grant is a super sweet guy underneath all the BS he's mired under. Yea, he's a jerk and mean. Yep he's angry and yells at pretty much everyone, but on a basic level, he's this really great guy who is just caught up in a web of unfortunate events and bad decisions. Luckily, he's a smart guy and figures shit out eventually.
Bridget is an awesome heroine. She has some issues, sure, but at the heart of her character is a strong woman who does what she needs to do to succeed in life.
These two together.....STEAM-Y! Can you say office sex?

Yep! I loved it.

Fantastic plot, great characters, and an amazing epilogue make this one a real winner! Recommended!

Bridget is determined to make a name for herself without the help of her parents or her sisters. She's always been the shadow, but it turns out her first big job isn't working out how she planned and when she lands on the steps of The L she doesn't have a choice but to work for the one family she doesn't want to work for. Except, her boss is the man she met one lonely, drunken night and found herself enjoying his lips, and fingers, in some alley by a dumpster. He's the kind of guy you're supposed to forget, the kind that leaves you hanging and even angrier, but working with him reveals another side to him. She finds herself desperate to help him and soon she's under his spell.
Grant Lancaster is the outcast of his family, his success dependent on his own hard work, if only someone else wasn't trying to ruin everything along the way. He may be estranged from his family, but he doesn't wish any harm on them and he's trying to save them and his new hotel as best he can. When the beautiful, sassy girl from the alley becomes his right hand woman he becomes even more insufferable, but she proves there's more to her than some rushed kisses. He finds himself being better because of her, his hope for his hotel returning, and his hope for a future with her by his side encouraging him along. Things aren't that easy though and there's one woman desperate to ruin it all, for everyone.

"If she get's too close, I'll cave. The flowery smell of her hair, the mint on her breath, I'll come undone."

My first Ava Harrison book, y'all, and I'm giving it 5 stars! I've been wanting to branch out and after seeing a lot of love for Ava Harrison I decided to give Sordid a try and I am so glad I did. I was completely caught up in this book, I loved every single part of it. It's classic boy meets girl, their connection instant, but they're unable to be anything more thanks to a number of things. The chemistry between these two is palpable, the sizzling looks they share and non-PG thoughts giving away just how much they want each other. I love boss employee relationships, especially when there's more to the story than just the relationship between the two. Grant is handsome, unbearable, and the keeper of a pile of secrets that weigh him down day in and day out. I love that our first glimpse of him is the honest Grant, because overtime it was really easy to hate him and I had to remind myself he was being held back from who he truly was. Bridget, on the other hand, is likeable in every single way. She's smart and determined, with the usual little sister syndrome. She's also the thing that brings out the best in Grant, but she does that by not giving in and by giving him her best attitude. Though their connection is instant, it's how they work together at both work and at some semblance of a relationship that makes the book so good.

"I don't mean them to be anything other than an offer of help, but they sound like so much more."

Things definitely get messed up in this novel, there's some moments of shock, some ultra sexy moments, and some really huge moments that will make you angry. Grant's past isn't pretty, but Ava Harrison sells you on him and even with all the ugly you find yourself loving him and cheering his change along. There are a handful of secondary characters, they each move the story along in their own way, but obviously Chelsea, who you will meet, is the worst. I struggled through every scene that involved her, angry at Grant and also angry for him. I felt like I was Bridget the entire time I read, my reactions mirroring hers in the books. Her decisions were similar to the ones I would've made in a similar situation and I had a lot of compassion for her as she dealt with Grant and Chelsea. The struggle she goes through is hard, but worth it in the end and definitely makes for the perfect HEA.

"As if I'll save him. As if I could."

I loved Sordid and I am so glad it was my first Ava Harrison book. The characters were complex and Ava's writing is so descriptive and emotive. I loved this entire book, front to back, and I definitely think it's a must read for romance readers. Also, there's sexy times in the office, it is impossible not to enjoy that!

This was a great emotional, angsty read. A hot, asshole of a boss under unimaginable stress... A young assistant desperate to keep her job, standing her ground with a need to prove herself... Add in incredible chemistry and a magnetic need to be together, only to be divided by life’s circumstances and blackmail... and you have one mess of complicated emotions and turmoil.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this series!

I was so looking forward to more of Grant. After getting to know him a little in the first book of the series Chandestine. He is so broody and just looks like a total grump. But he does have reason for this I guest. His life is a mess she was pushed out of his family over a woman. Who is now the the cause of all his problems. He doesn't talk to his family cause things have for one to far even though he needs them he is just to stubborn to admit it. Grant's life is a mess he feels tied down like he can't do what is needed. He doesn't let lose until one night he met this gorgeous woman. Straight away there was a pull but he couldn't get caught up in a woman even if she made him start to feel a lil. He just didn't know who this gorgeous woman was or where she would end up.

Bridget is trying to sort her life out. After finishing college she is finally going to work in marketing where she is looking to do something for herself she won't be in the shadows of her sisters. Only things don't go the way there meant to. She doesn't want to have to go to get parents for help she needs this independence more than anything. So getting a job was her main priority even if her boss turned out to be the guy she kissed and left her high and dry.

This book was really good the story has me dying to know what was goin to happen between Grant and Bridget. There story is so complicated and things are far from easy from them. But there sexual tension is crazy hot even when they try so hard to fight it its not enough. I liked that it was Spencer's brother and Olivia's sister. It meant we got more of them which is great I luvd there book. I would highly recommend this book and Chandestine. It's a brilliant series im luvin it so far. I can't wait for Pierce book.

4.5 Inevitable CROWNS

Sordid is everything an angsty romance should be. Forbidden relationship. Seemingly insurmountable predicament. Sexual tension so think you feel it run over your skin like an electrical current. It is a tale of loss and gain, sadness and hope. It captivated me from page one.

Grant made my heart crack and splinter with each chapter. Seeing this strong and loving man brought to heel over and over again hurt, because Ava Harrison makes us see what is below the stolid and often truculent facade he shows the world. And like great tragic heroes, hubris is his downfall. He can’t get out of his own way, but, God, do we want him to. Because this man is so good with the way he loves and protects those he cares for, we want all the poison to be sucked out of his life. Readers yearn for him to make amends and to fight for the HEA he deserves.

I just adore Bridget. I know there will be readers who may not like her choices, but nothing is ever black and white when it comes to the heart. I also don’t know that I would have chosen differently, and that makes her character real and flawed and relatable. Readers will love her fortitude. It is one of her best attributes. She has a back bone of steel when dealing with Grant’s belligerence, a soft and kind spirit when it is needed to support other characters, and she is even at times self-sacrificing. She will be a favorite heroine of 2018.

The antagonist of this story is absolutely vile. I hate this person down to my very core. The character has no feelings, remorse, or capacity to care for anyone other than selfish needs. I found no greater joy then when this person finally had karma rear its head. Although, I will say I expected a bigger fight or more explosive altercation for the climax of the story.

What I think I enjoyed most about Sordid, though, is its themes. There is first and foremost the idea of family and that family will always support you and forgive you. They are the people who help you get trough the hard times in life. Another idea is that pride, particularly an over abundance, can not only harm a person but can create a large number of casualties among the people who care for the hero/heroine. And while this is not a new theme in literature, it is on that has relevance no matter the time period or year. Finally as in any good romance, the idea that love can heal and soothe the soul and is worth fighting for is at the heart of Sordid. Readers will want Grant and Bridget to fight for each other and for their relationship because it brings so much joy and happiness to them.

I really enjoyed going back into the Lancaster world. Grant’s story is heartbreakingly tragic, and yet, like any great hero in literature, we root for him to overcome. So while it is a story often laced with sadness, it is also one of family and love and how those two things together can conquer any malice in life.

4.5 Stars ~ Reviewed by Emma-Louise on behalf of KFF

Sordid is a standalone in the same world as Illicit and Clandestine. Grant Lancaster, yes that Grant Lancaster, the one who outs the older brother of Spencer from Clandestine. One huge question was never answered in Clandestine. Why was Grant usurped by Spencer in running the Lancaster empire? And oh brother, did we get the answer to this in Sordid. The answer was more than I, a simple reviewer, could ever have imagined. Every single bleak instance in this book was because of good people who chose to do the wrong thing for the right reasons. I couldn’t even hate them for it, in their shoes I’d have probably made the exact same choices.

The only true issue I had with this tale was the apparent ‘villains’, though I loved to see them get their just desserts; to me they could have been a little more toned down. They were just slightly closer to over the top for me. The story between Grant and Bridget is littered with landmines and almost insurmountable hurdles. Much is on the line for both of them at times their love almost seemed destined for heartache and pain.

‘…screaming silently into his mouth all the words I cannot say with my lips.
All the I love yous I’ll never say.
…..Whispering my name against my lips like a benediction.
As if I’ll save him.
As if I could.’

For Bridget, in the pages of this tale she discovers her inner strength and self belief. Her chance encounter with Grant brings a storm front she didn’t expect or see coming. Their attraction is almost instantaneous, they’re drawn together like magnets on a professor's table.

‘Her strong will calls to me, and I’m losing the battle with myself every day. I know I need to keep my walls up, not let her sway my resolve, but I can’t.’

Bridget believes she lives in the shadow of her family and if she can make something of herself, she’ll have the ability to stand with her head held high and proud. The love of her parents is limitless and unconditional. They love her dearly and are hugely protective of her. Unlike some tales, her parents aren’t perfect, their mistakes are on show for the world to see. This doesn’t lesson them, quite the opposite in fact; mistakes make them more real. Familial bonds are key in this story. Even when family has been estranged, they come together in spite of distance and time between them.

I adore the titles that this author chooses. One word titles are my favourites. It’s short and to the point and with this author, it’s always a small peak into what the books theme encompasses. Unlike plenty of apparent ‘standalones’ out there today, this author truly does know how to spin and create a tale that is great to read alongside the other publications, but also truly can be enjoyed without them.

Well, darn it. I read a good book, and I want to tell you all about, well, all the things. Especially the part where (spoiler) and (spoiler) happened. And, you know how it says in the blurb that Grant has secrets? Well, he does...and one of them...spoiler.

Are you catching on yet? I want to talk about how much I enjoyed this book. And, I did love it. But I also want to tell you why. And, I can't because it would be a spoiler and I would ruin the fun for you. And, that is mean.

So, what can I tell you? I can tell you that Grant is absolutely the jerk you expect him to be, if you have read the first books...or if you just know him from the first meeting he has with Bridget. He's selfish, or at least that is how it seems when you watch the choices he makes and the way he treats people.

You want better for Bridget. But, Bridget wants Grant, so you find yourself thinking that maybe he isn't awful. But then...then....there's that one thing that really makes you think that your original opinion of him might be right after all.

One of the things I loved about this is the fact that there is a taboo element to it...and the author doesn't shy away. There are reasons, and justifications, but that taboo element is there. It's real. And, it's a thing.

The story is constructed well, and you are both frustrated and sympathetic toward Grant and you like Bridget. It's a credit to the author in this case that you like Grant as much as you do, as he is definitely not perfect.

But, those stories about the flawed hero that you love anyway? Aren't those some of the best possible romances of all?

Balancing between a 2 and a 3.

This book was just ok for me.

Honestly, I was bored. I skimmed pages.

description

I usually try not to because you just never know when something good will sneak its way into a paragraph, but, alas, I did. I faltered.

I'm not even sorry.

I was bored, alright! The characters fell flat for me. They weren't interesting AT ALL! Here's why:

description

OMG! Sorry, but everyone lacked real personality EXCEPT the skanky, up-to-know-good, whore of a soon-to-be-ex-wife. Like who are Bridget and Grant? Cause ....

description

Both MC's were so fucking whiny. Poor this. Poor that. POOR FUCKING ME.

Yada yada yada wahh wahh wahhhhh.

Jeesh, they were so fucking weak and this is why! Instead of taking initiative they sat around a lot feeling sorry for themselves. And if their inner dialogue wasn't them telling us how crappy life was, it was them telling each other. I'm sorry but it really put a downer on the overall mood of the story. There was just so much telling. Telling us why they felt like they couldn't do certain things. Not enough of them actually grabbing life by the balls, giving it a little squeeze, and saying "to hell with this," and just going after what they want.

description

Were we supposed to feel attracted to Grant? Cause....

description

He sucked. Grant kind of had that prodigal son vibe going on but really in the end he was just a selfish bastard. I really don't see what Bridget saw him in. I really don't (my thoughts on this continue down below)

This book was like high school all over again.

description

The drama got to be a bit much. And boy was there drama. Family drama. Marital drama. Work drama. I don't mind some drama in a book, but this needed to crank it down a notch in that department. Got to be a bit tedious to read about...but then again....

description

I needed to find out what happened.

ALSO can we talk about the female blue balls?

description

Way to leave a girl hanging...more then once!

The smut was lacking too. And when we did get it, it was pretty mediocre smut.

description

My review probably has more balls then Grant ever did. Like man, way to coward around your

Well, this just wasn't for me.

Not sure why I even started 'Sordid', since it was already really hard for me to finish Clandestine. I'm seeing all those positive reviews and get mad at myself, dunno really why, but I do.
I find this book so ridicously boring and this whole image we got of the characters, like all that matters is their libido and attraction to each other. The insta-love is killing me but I am not even gonna touch that.
I had exactely 100 pages to go and found myself asking what possibly could happen in those 100 pages? Not really sure what happened at the end, since I did not continue reading it.

But those are my guesses...

So idk if I do sound harsh or put any negative vibes out here for that is not what I want.
My intention is not to bad-mouth this book, I am sure this author, who I just recently discovered, put all her energy and time into this baby of her. This experience actually helped me to realize that I am so over contemporary romance novels. Thank you for that.

Whee! This book is so much sexy, angsty fun.

Grant Lancaster is perfectly tortured and delicious, and Bridgette is such a fun heroine. I love how she goes from being insecure and sort of lost in her life to strong and standing up for herself.

The chemistry between Bridge and Grant is fantastic. Their banter, their sexytimes... hello! So good. It's a roller-coaster, though. Grant has a lot of shit from his past life to deal with, and sometimes you might want to slap him... But that just makes the HEA that much better.

It's a delicious love story that will satisfy the romance addict in you. I highly recommend this one!

OK, I am clearly in the minority here BUT I had the hardest time relating to anyone in this book:/

I also wished I had read at least Spencer and Olivia's story beforehand because I felt like I was in the dark with the whole family dynamics. Maybe that could have helped a little but all in all it was just ok at best for me!

Ava Harrison never disappoints...

I always fall into the plot with ease Ava really is an exceptional writer.

Sordid was hot, frustrating, a rollercoaster, there were times I wanted Grant to grow a pair and I felt for Bridget and Grants dilemma.

Is a man a cheater if he sleeps with a woman, claims he is separated from his wife yet still lives with her for show or for business reasons? ..... You will have to read Grant's story and decide for yourself.

Let me explain a bit......

Grant's wife has had affairs for years soon after she married Grant she even had a child by another man but Grant still brought the little girl up as his own, Chelsea not only deceived Grant into thinking she was someone else while dating, as soon as they were married she got what she wanted, money, it was all for the money and her true colours shone through and Grant was trapped or was he?
Was Grant not trying hard enough?

Grants dilemma had me pondering but it made it one interesting and angsty read.

Grant hasn't been with a woman in years, he's miserable being blackmailed by his wife , unable to divorce her and when he bumps into Bridget who is having an equally bad day having lost her job the two of them see a kindred spirit, sparks fly between them, only Grant knows he can't offer more and leaves after a brief hot encounter.

Bridget finds a job only her luck goes from good to bad again when she discovers her new boss is Grant and fate intervenes again.

Grants life is a mess, a hot businessman is being dictated to and ruled by a manipulative woman who uses her own child as leverage, I really did enjoy hating on Chelsea.

Sordid was definitely a hot read with an interesting and captivating plot that had twists and turns.

I Loved it, Grant frustrated me, but Sordid kept me fascinated with how it was all going to come good or play out in the end and I wasn't disappointed, even if it was at the eleventh hour.

Told in first person dual pov.

If you’ve read Clandestine, you are sure to love and adore Sordid! Ava Harrison brings us back into the hot and sexy world of the Lancaster brothers, a place that is worth escaping to again! You don’t want to miss spending precious time with Grant. This broken, delicious man is sure to capture your heart and soul.

Grant tries so hard to keep his distance from Bridget. His cold and callous demeanor is a defense mechanism when interacting with her. It’s sad to see him fight every instinct he has to be with her, he wants to be part of her world with a passion he hasn’t felt in years. Everything about being around Bridget is natural, honest and real. It becomes more and more difficult for him to ignore what his heart wants, and his heart wants Brigid. However, secrets keep them apart and it’s agonizing for Grant to not claim her as part of his life.

Bridget is SO strong! She’s not a doormat and speaks her mind. Despite the sexual tension that grows between her and Grant, she is determined not to let it derail her from making something out of her life. She feels the tether between them just has much as he does, but is focused not to let it consume her every thought. However, sometimes our best laid plans can go awry. Regardless of the obstacles she faces, I really admire her drive and tenacity. Bridget is the kind of heroine I can get behind! Stand tall and don’t back down girl!

This was a more emotional read than I anticipated and I welcomed it with open arms. The push and pull between these two is passionate and powerful. Their connection is palpable. I could feel the barriers between them, ready to explode into a million pieces. The buildup, the angst, the intensity of their story is conveyed beautifully by Ava. She easily pulls you into their world, guiding you every step of the way. Bottom line, this is a heartfelt story of unconditional love that you don’t want to miss!

3 stars. This book was all over the place. The characters were all over the place. In one paragraph, Bridget will go from thinking that she’s over qualified to be an HR assistant and then to thinking she’s under qualified to be an executive assistant. She just graduated from college and has never had a job or internship, so she’s pretty much under qualified for anything.

And then Grant is all over the place as well. One minute he’s obsessed with her and the next he’s berating himself for feeling that way.

Some authors can pull off the back and forth, but this wasn’t working.

And then Bridget is complaining about her parents always comparing her to her two sisters and she always feels second best. But then we find out that her sisters are actually pretty screwed up and Bridget is just totally normal. Wtf?

And we’re supposed to believe that Bridget has awakened some unquenchable hunger inside of Grant after being around each other for 5 minutes. If an author is going for insta-love, she has to convince the reader and make us feel it. Not feeling it!

The middle of the book started to work for me and I started liking the characters and their chemistry. But then the ending was totally rushed.

This is a book that I won’t even be able to remember in a week.

Expect the unexpected. That’s what I do every time a Ava Harrison book lands on my kindle. The ONLY thing I know to expect is to be left completely spent and with my emotions in a scrambled mess…. and Sordid was no exception to this. With every single word, every well thought out and delicately put together sentence, and every jaw dropping chapter, I was left holding my breath, gasping for air, clutching my kindle and muttering ‘what the actual F*#k.
Ava stomped on my heart, dug her heel in and then offered me a hand and pulled me back up and put me back together. Gritty, sexy, provocative and scandalous, Sordid was a masterpiece. Grant was a breath of fresh air for the alphas we all love, and Bridget was someone we could all look up to and strive to be. It’s official, Ava Harrison has cemented herself on as the queen of dirty, gritty, real life romance!

I seriously enjoyed the heck out of this book! It was fun and angsty....Just what I was needing!! I loved Grant and Bridget's chemistry. Their back and forth banter was amazing. This for me was an edge of my seat kind of book that had my jaw dropping.

This book was given to me at my request and I provided this review voluntarily

4.5 "Dumpster Dude" Stars!!!

Ahh, I feel complete after finishing Sordid. Finally, FINALLY I got the answers I so desperately needed regarding Grant Lancaster. We find out why he and his family are estranged. And in knowing that, my view of him changed. I was so adamant in disliking him even though I didn't have all the answers. But I quickly changed my tune after getting his side of the story. I understood him more and realized why he did the things he did. And what I liked knowing too was that the brooding and tough as nails hotshot indeed has a heart, and when that side of him came out albeit the toughness, boy it was beautiful.

Grant Lancaster had everything going for him. A lucrative job, the start of a relationship, and on the cusp to become a very powerful man. But Grant refuses to listen to his father about a pressing issue and so starts the downfall of their relationship. And also his relationship with his brother, Spencer. Years pass, Grant has made a name for himself and is a very successful businessman and owner, and he did it all in his own. Grant feels superior, but at the same time something is missing. And little does he know that something is right around the corner.

Bridget Miller has always seen herself as second, then third best. In her eyes her sisters were the ones who got the most attention. Bringing drama into Bridget's life that at times was unbearable. Bridget loves her sisters, and just wants something for her own. Not to live in the shadows of her sisters. She wants to succeed and be recognized. And when an opportunity presents itself, Bridget works tiredly. And in the process she not only finds fulfillment in her job, but also, a budding attraction.

Bridget and Grant were two characters that needed the other in more ways than one. Bridget was there when Grant needed someone. Someone to listen and confide in. Someone he could trust without reservations. Grant is a broken man and a little lost. And I loved how Bridget was there for him even though at times she was hurting. But in the end, Grant made up for it. He was caring and attentive, and knew he needed to show Bridget that she meant more to him than she thought. And when he did, ahhh it made me so giddy. Ugh, Grant was just, AH-MAZING! I honestly couldn't get enough of him.

Sordid gave me the answers I needed! I loved getting to learn about Grant and his reasons for doing the things he did. He really surprised me, but in a good way. I'm glad that there's still one more book in this series. And I can't wait for Pierce and learn what his story is about!

Grant is torn. He is estranged from his family all because of Chelsea and now he meets Bridget and even though she is everything he wants and longs for he cannot have her. Chelsea gives new meaning to the word bitch. Bridget knows she can never have Grant but that does not stop her from wanting him. She is the only woman, let alone person who is not intimidated by Grant. He has gone through more assistants than anyone can imagine but Bridget wants to prove to herself she is worthy. Tired of living in the background of her sisters she wants to be noticed. She will give this job everything she has. She has something to prove. Turns out she proves herself more than she even imagined. And Grant knows it. He doesn't want to let her go but he cannot promise her more than today. Happily ever after is not possible for him. Everything he does in life is because of Isabella and Chelsea knows that. She does everything to hold that over his head.

Will his feelings for Bridget push him to change his life and allow him to have that happily ever after. Ava Harrison will keep you glued to the pages. You will shed tears of sadness, anger, frustration, and also tears of happiness. A story you will not be able to put down. Wishing for miracles and happily ever afters. She makes it all come true.

Rate: 4,2 / 5 stars

This one was a beautiful, sexy and sweet office / forbidden romance and I really enjoyed it. Grant was so sexy even with all his faults and I really liked Bridget, she was super sweet. It had a lot of drama and family feuds but it was a nice and fast read and you'll definitely enjoy Bridget and Grant's story.

She’s the one person who makes me feel. It’s been so long. I never thought I’d feel that way again. The need. The desire. I thought that part of me had died. But she awakened an unquenchable hunger. It gnaws in my gut. Having her for even five minutes was too much. Trying to resist will be torture.

I think the word "sordid" describe the book perfectly so for that: "4 sordid stars"

I'm a huge fan of Ava Harrison's writing. She has a writing style that suck you into a book and make the rest of the world disappear.

This book is not the exception. The story was catching and then you are so curious if what happen when the sh*** happens.
Let me tell you something, Grant is a as***e and in t he beginning of the story I've a hard time to let him in. I read a few chapters and I was like: no, you are a dumpster b*stard. But, Like I Said, Ava is cautivanting and Grant being A a**hat just make me want to know more about him.

Then you understand Why He Is Who Is. All the imperfections, mistakes and things. All the secrets he has to keep.

Bridge is so far, once of my favs female characters from Ava. Thanks Ava for create a character that is not a damsel in distress. She was strong, she was sure of herself and no matter how sh*try was the situation, she never changed.
And I love her, and I have to say that for Brid I did a chance to Grant.

Sordid is a good story, once your start you want to finish just to know. I cant express how much I recommended this book.

Beautiful, emotional, super fast and hot read.

Often when I need some read to pick me up I choose books that are sensual and emotional. Where characters are not perfect, where they are damaged and where everything is electrified. These kind of stories are like drug to me. They bring me high fast and I can not put the book done until I finish the story.

When I started reading Sordid I was looking for this kind of story, and I got it. It was everything and more. Beside that Ava Harrison writing is great. Story about illicit love can be full of clichés but Ava manage to have none. Also the topic of marital infidelity in romance novels can be very tricky, but again Ava manage to shape Bridget and Grant's affair nicely.

I really, really like this story and I highly recommend it. Perfect read for a cold winter days.

Every Ava Harrison book I read becomes my favourite one. This book - the pain, the emotion, the heat, and the swoon. It has it all. My heart took a beating at times, but I loved every single sordid word.
