Captivating

This series kept my attention from start to finish. Hate to see it come to an end! Great ending and beginning.

I went back and forth between 3 and 4 Stars for this one. The characters and plot were interesting, but the story tended to drag on a bit at times. The most bothersome part was that the stories were out of order. I was really into the storyline of Grant finally moving on with his life in “Missing Person” and then for “Deadly Webs” it jumped back to the time right after his wife died. I would probably read more from this series, if I knew the timeline was picking up from where I actually left off. I feel that I would have easily given this 4+ stars if the two stories were reversed in the boxed set. Side note: There were some serious editing issues that drove me crazy.

Compelling

I enjoyed reading these. Quick reads. The characters were well drawn and fleshed out. The plots were creative and compelling. I will read more from this author.

This book may deserve more than the 2 stars I'm giving it. The writing is decent and the characters are interesting. But it did not hold my interest.
I happen to know the geography of where the book is set. While the descriptions were not grossly incorrect, things were stretched to the point that I could not believe them. Also I felt I was coming into the middle of a story. There may be stories that precede this one that develop the character relationships better.
Once I became skeptical the whole plot just seemed based on exaggeration and coincidence too much for me to accept. I did not finish the book. There are better things for me to do and to read.
To the author: Tighten up your plots. Do not rely so much on super-characters and coincidence. Find out more about the places and professions about which you are writing. Maybe get a better editor.

I thoroughly enjoyed Detective Grant Abduction Mysteries. It was an easy read. There was violence but it wasn't in gory detail. I don't care for a lot of sex or long detail of it. It was cute the habit of the strawberry breakfast tarts but I kind of got sick of them. The clicking lighter reminded me of a guy I worked with that constantly clicked his pen. A couple of us started throwing rubber fingers at him. At least I didn't have to worry about fire I guess. Seriously I did enjoy the characters and thought the writing was creative and will get better. Keep up the writing it did keep me awake well into the morning reading them.

EXCELLENT read, I was totally engaged from chapter one on. My only complaint, and it actually is a large one, is that this set was completely out of order and ruined the experience. The last set of books which was about the beginning of the story , should have been the first set of books.
Once I finished the first set of books, I was looking forward to the continuation of the lives that I was now invested in. Instead I found myself reading the introduction of the characters.

If you are starting this series, I'd strongly recommend starting with Deadly Web Trapped, book 1 then go back to Missing Person, The Beginning.

AWESOME!!!

I reviewed this book once before but I stopped reading too soon. This book is very well written with all the suspense and drama that you could want. The characters were so realistic, Mocks who loved fiercely, Chicken who was so straight-laced and dedicated to his job, and the evil bad guys who thought they could do anything to anyone without consequence. Some of the crimes described give you chills but this is an excellent book. Kudos to the author.

This was a great boxset.

I could not put it down. Went from one right to the next one in the set until the last one. The Author is amazing, I will be reading anything I can find. I have not read a series like this box set in a long time. I read a lot and was very impressed. Take the time to read you will not be disappointed. I would like to thank the Author for a wonderful reading experience.

At 6 books for a buck, this was a pretty good deal. The stories are short, basically two books- each divided into three parts. The characters are likable enough, the action is well paced but the in between drags at times. Some of the story line, especially the few main characters' personal struggles, are pretty cliche- but you're still interested in them enough to stick it out.

I truly enjoyed these books...all of them. I only wish the order had been reversed. Learning the backstory of Chase Grant right from the beginning would have kept me from wondering what had happened in his life to create such pain. I loved the interaction between Chase and "Mocks".
A very good read. So much so I ordered other sets by James Hunt.

Chase Grant

I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of these books, but it would have better if they were in order. The author has a very easy writing style that keeps you turning pages. As I read these stories, I found myself thinking what they would be like made into movies. I won't tell you which actors/actresses I envisioned!

Really liked this author and this series - I will definitely be on the lookout for more Detective Grant books. The only problem I had with the Kindle boxed set is that the stories are out of order. Deadly Webs occurs first in the timeline of the books, but is presented second. I actually found Deadly Webs to be more of a struggle to get through, while I blew through Missing Person.

A must read

I love all the books in this boxset! All the characters are very realistic with many quirks and flaws. The plots will keep you in suspense and keep you from sleep, because you won't want to put them down. I highly recommend these books to anyone who loves a good mystery!

Gripping!

Never a dull moment. I appreciated the relationships of the main characters and all the action. During lockdown to stop the spread of covid and being out of work, I have had more time to read. I read this set fast. I was so involved in the story, I overcooked my hard boiled eggs by 39 minutes! I have more of James Hunt to read in my library. . . Starting now.

Good read

I really enjoyed these books, but they should have been in the other order. Read the last set first. Otherwise the first set gives away too much of the last set. Don’t know why they were packaged like that. Other than that, I highly recommend this boxset.

I loved it. My only disappointment was the first book should have been the last. Going back to the beginning after the first story was hard. I loved the characters, especially Mocks. I hope more sequels come out because I would definitely read them. Thank you for the entertainment.

Good read with great characters

I would recommend reading the last two books first, if you like things in a linear fashion. I knew there was a story about what happened to Grant in the past. It’s in the last two books.

I liked Grant and his partner, Mocks. Mr Hunt is a good author from what I've read. I enjoyed all of them, although I'm not sure why they were so short. I will read others to find out if they're longer. Guess it depends on who the characters are.

Excellent

Two tightly written mysteries, full of turns and twists, with well defined characters, proper evil villains, hapless dupes, and hero's . Read the books in reverse order, snatched happens after webs and reading snatched first takes the edge off.

Excellent Set Gripping Story

Enjoyed the stories, but I question the packaging the set. It may be the intent, but I would've enjoyed reading the story chronologically. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars

Good read

4.5 star book with great characters and lots of action. The relationship with Sam was lacking any spark so I didn't feel the connection. The ending was decent but could have used a few more pages.

Read this whole box set. Should be switch in order, need to read the Web series before Missing Person. Mr. Hunt has an insane storytelling ability. I couldn't put my Kindle down. I hope there are more stories for Chase.

Good adventures

Writer kept the reader involved. Was a little confused at the skipping around the timeline. Would rather have story fun from beginning and not go back and forth. Enjoyed it though.

Suspenseful

This box set is a good read. The characters are well developed. There is not a lot of effectiveness. That in itself is refreshing. No spoilers here. If you like a good 'who done it' story, give this a try.

One suspenseful powerhouse.

The main characters were so likable and full of ups and downs. You felt like they were doing everything right in a system flawed by wealthy sadists and powerful politicians. Well worth your time to read.

Good read

This was an easy way to not focus on reality. While it had good people saving the day, it was repetitious -an awful lot of vomiting, twirling of wedding rings, adrenaline and very bad guys, the protagonists were goo people, likable and compassionate.
