Fires of Fate #5

The Dragon's Perfect Omega

Rate this book
MM Gay Shifter Mpreg Romance

Sometimes the magic of love leads us to discover who we really are...

Zim knows if anyone found out about his dirty fantasies involving other men, his family would disown him, so he keeps his forbidden desires buried. On the outside, he's a good son, a good student, a good future CEO of his family's pharmaceutical company. He's almost convinced himself that's all he is--until his twenty-first birthday brings him a present he could never have expected: a dragon that would unlock all his secrets--body, heart and mind—and help him discard the masks he’s worn all his life.

Lowen's ability to glimpse the future sets him apart from other dragons, but he knows that if his powers came to light, his people would expect him to devote his life to the Gods, remaining celibate. Not something that sounds particularly fun--especially not when Lowen comes face to face with his fated mate and his world is turned on its head.

When visions warn him that being with Zim will lead to tragedy, Lowen is prepared to make any sacrifice necessary to save his mate—and their unborn children—to have a shot at a future together. Even if that means defying his people, Zim’s parents, and destiny itself.

Ahhhh, I'm so, so happy that she went back to this series and gave us such an amazing book for the last one in the series!

I love Ann-Katrin's dragons, I love the world building and I love that we got to see so many of the previous couples in this series. And I just loved reading about Lowen and Zim - they really were perfect for each other. I loved their chemistry, their instant connection and how they already thought of the other as their's, and I loved their love story.

This book made me so happy!

3.5 Stars ~ I can’t believe I waited so long before diving into this fifth installment of ‘Fires of Fate’, a wonderful series filled with dragons, omegas, mpregs, rock bands, great worldbuilding, and fascinating characters. ‘The Dragon’s Perfect Omega’ gives me Lowen’s story and he intrigued me from the first moment I met him with his band mates, Zed and Finn. I couldn’t wait to see what the author would bring me for his happy ever after.

“I couldn't be gay. Especially not for dragons. If there was one thing my family hated more than dragons, it was omegas and the men who were into them. They could never know that I fantasized about letting dragons do things to me that other men did to omegas. No, no one could ever know.”

The author has really placed some challenges on Zim and Lowen. Zim is an only child to a big pharmaceutical company owner and his wife. Zim has spent his entire life showing his parents what they expect to see and trying to ignore their homophobia and severe specism. He doesn’t even know if he’s gay because he’s too terrified to do anything about his feelings. Zim has a very rigid plan for his life and he’s a bit of a control freak, although I think all of that stems from suppressing his inner self for his whole life.

This was a great addition to the Fires of Fate series. Lowen and Zim were a really sweet couple. I liked the way they supported each other and stayed true to themselves despite the expectations and pressure from their parents. I also enjoyed seeing the other dragons again with their mates and children.

The future isn't written in stone

Zim really is twisted up by his parents. I think that they may have come from a goid place, but they went about it wrong.

Lowen's mom really cared, but she pushed so hard.

A rocky start yielded a well earned happy ending.

While I hated for this series to end, at least the final book was a really powerful completion. You have a dragon and an omega, both denied the truth as children and well into adulthood.

Omega Zim was forced to follow in the family's footsteps and marry a woman (who happened to be his best friend). One night at a concert changed placed Zim on a path that would change his life forever. If only he could accept what was to come.

Alpha Lowen is living a good life. The band is getting more publicity, his friends are mated to their fates, have children and living their best life. He can't help but feel a sense of longing and jealousy. A concert on the mainland reveals his mate to him. Whatever is he going to do about it.

Lowen possess powers that he's kept a secret from everyone. Colorful auras show him what people are really feeling, and not what they verbally state.
Zim goes to the concert with a friend of his to see the dragons play in person, for his birthday. There, he comes into contact with each dragon, and meets the one. Lowen can't understand what is so different about this particular human, but he's determined to find out. Zim is so confused by his own emotions as he's only been with females, yet feels an overwhelming pull towards Lowen.

Ever the patient dragon, he takes small steps to earn the trust of his mate. Various dreams show the fate of Zim pregnant and in danger. That can't be since Zim isn't an omega, or is he?

Not able to hide who he is, Zim agrees it is time to tell his parents about Lowen and his relationship. In a matter of moments, he discovers that his parents have been drugging him all of his life and never told hm he was an omega. Before this revelation, Lowen found out he was he son of a priestess and adopted by his parents.

Both men trying to navigate a new life, a new family, and secrets that could destroy all they ever knew. Never fear - the support of fellow dragons and their families were there to see them to the very end.

Everybody loves dragons. Just imagine baby dragon flittering around!

Crushing on the drummer of a dragon band, Zim is crushing big time. Lowen no this is a guy in the front row sitting with a friend of his singing away to their songs at their concert. It's like sparkles everywhere. When they finally meet after the concert they talk and have a good time go out for drinks and things get a little more intense. Now Zim has a choice that he has to make. Marry the girl that his parents have expected him to marry and have children with, or run off with the drummer from the band. Zim can't get the hot drummer out of his mind. He agrees to show Lowen around the city and realizes he doesn't run away from this guy he wants to run away with this guy. Things get crazier and crazier until all of a sudden there's a pregnancy involved when there shouldn't be a pregnancy. Or even the ability to get pregnant. Zim has been lied to his entire life and didn't realize it. Now things are going to change he runs off with his dragon to live his new life and things really get crazy from there. This was a good story suspenseful, naughty bits, and just crazy love. I definitely hope there will be more books in this series cuz they're really a good series.

I read this book about 2 weeks ago, and to be honest have forgotten a few finer plot points but I did enjoy this dragon themed mpreg. I was on a mpreg kick for a while, reading several books with this theme.
This one did stand out for the dragons. I loved the way the dragons were portrayed. Lowen and Zim were a nice couple and I like it when the omega in the couple pairing is not a wimp. I was happily surprised that Zim had a little back bone when he dealt with his manipulative parents.
The supporting characters were interesting, and I didn't realize til I looked back on amazon that this book was actually part of a series. I will probably go back and read the others.

Book 5 of and the final story in the series, for now, has been a great escape for me in the last 3 week. Lowen and Zim's story is wonderfulyl told. again slightly differnet angle in this love at first sigh, fated mates story where we glimpses of twqo wonderful men, their backgrounds and that the fact that love can overcome everything if we only let us open to it. it shows us, as with the other books in the series, that prejudice exists in every race and that if we try hard enough the golden aura of truth and love will shine bright and win. again got this book as a freebie and boy I am so grateful to the author for it. well done.

You're crushing on a dragon drummer. But you've not omega, are you?

What a stunning conclusion to a wonderful series! I love this world. The guys in the band, Dragon Island, family issues, religion, and a surprise pregnancy. Ooh, and twins. What more could you ask for! Travel with Zim and Lowen on their road to HEA. From music to instant attraction to independence to fated love. You are going to love this book! Please. Read the previous books in this series. Time. Well. Spent.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Its’ an average story. The writing is good as well as the concept where there are dragon shifter & omega & Humans discriminate the supernaturals. The love story itself is average.

"You're emoting all over the place. Most people keep their emotions contained, well aside from my friend Finn anyway, but you're coloring over the lines. It goes everywhere."
I huffed. "You make me sound like I'm littering."

Choices

This story was fairly interesting. Zim wanted and tried to be the son his parents wanted. On his birthday he attends a concert that resulted in him making choices for himself and not his parents. Now he is worried what parents may think and he will also find out more about himself.

Unhappy man who secretly lusts after men meets an alpha dragon shifter and it's instant lust for both. Some secrets are revealed, and both sets of parents are less than supportive.
Typos: sentence fragments after quotes ("There you are!" She said.), misused caps (Gods), missing words (take seat), inconsistent end quote punctuation (". and ."), too for to, poured for pored, misused commas.

The last band member finds his mate.
Both parents have been keeping secrets. Zim's secret has an impact on their relationship. An impact that shocks him but brings them closer together.
Each story has had a different theme. A different way of bringing the mates together.
I'll be reading more from this author.

Pretty good.

This book was pretty good. Not very deep, but entertaining nonetheless. The emotions and drama are pretty superficial, but I still liked Lowen and Zim. I didn't always feel their connection to each other, but there were some sweet and funny moments. The story dragged in a few places, and there are quite a few minor errors.

Or the truth as he believed it

Dragon shifter and drummer Lowen chances a fan meet up with Zim, and the fated mate trope begins rolling through this delightful tale. Family secrets, straight to bi/gay, and mpreg are laced into some well written heated scenes. And the HEA is very smile inducing.

I'm so happy that this book was added to the series, but I felt like I had a lot more questions by the end of this book. I felt like there was something missing, but I'm not sure what. Anyway lowen was so pure and selfless and supported Zim so much it made my heart melt.

This was a pretty good end to this series. Sure, things very conveniently happened but I've grown used to it in this series. the relationship was fine, the tension was good, the conflict was decent, the only thing that had me scratching my head was the whole priestess storyline.

Loved the story

I like how Lowen fought to keep his own individuality. Not even the handmaid of the gods has all the answers. Though I thought she was a bit too self entitled. I was hoping that Zim could step into the company his parents run and stop the pill that dragons have to take. But maybe that is in another story. So good. I want more!!

2.5 rounded up.

This was by far my least favorite of the series. I just felt like the entire story was dragging on. Maybe it’s because I binged the series over 2 days, or maybe it’s because I loved Ryan and Finn and this paled. The two men just didn’t seem to have much beyond “fated” and I wasn’t interested in the religious story line.

Cuki volt, a legérdekesebb a tengernyi szülői elvárás, amivel mindkét főhős szembenézett. Ilyenkor mindig remélem, hogy én nem vagyok ilyen úthenger, mint az itt ábrázolt szülők...
