Devlin Brothers #2

Twisted Instincts

Jack of all trades, Jasmine Eckert, lives her life on her every whim. After years of working an unconventional range of jobs from construction to hair styling, she’s feeling the pressure to pick a direction, put down roots, and figure out what she wants out of life, once and for all. Before she can so much as give notice on her apartment, she overhears the Devlin Brothers talking about a missing child, labeled by the authorities as a serial runaway, and is overwhelmed by a bone-deep wave of kinship for a child she’s never met. Compelled to help, she sets out to prove her skills and life experience are just what the team needs to find their kid.

The last thing Luca Devlin needs is for Jasmine to swing her hips, flip her hair, and pepper him with barbs from her sassy mouth when every minute leads one step farther away from finding whoever is responsible for Tyler Mishler’s kidnapping. Not that Luca necessarily believes he’s been kidnapped, but Luca intends to humor his brothers’ suspicions, for now. Resentment consumes him at the thought of having their resources wasted on a runaway when real victims waited, precious clues ran cold, and children, just like his lost sister, suffered emotional, physical, and sexual torment while they prayed for someone, anyone, to save them.

Despite every reason he should turn her away, Jasmine’s abilities could very well give him the edge he needs to prove that this kid is duping them all. Can he work side by side with the enticing Jasmine without ending up skin to skin and losing his skeptical heart?

Twisted Instincts is the second book in Ms Hagen’s Devlin Brothers Series, also connected to the Phoenix Agency. Jasmine knows things by following her gut reaction, so when the chance comes to save a boy who has been labeled as a serial runaway, she leaps at the opportunity. Luca helps run Team Alegra, helping to save children, and holding a heap of guilt about his lost little sister. Their personalities tend to clash, but the passion brewing between Jasmine and Luca is intense, and they only get closer as they inch closer to finding the kidnapped boy. Will they be able to save the boy and find love or will the kidnapping ring take more than just the boy?

Oh wow, Ms. Hagen has the amazing talent of sweeping you away into the drama of her cases and into the arms of budding love. I was hooked in this book by page three. I loved that Jasmine’s abilities developed into something much more and could even sense/see things about Alegra. Luca was almost rigid at times, but I loved when his vulnerabilities showed, especially around Jasmine. There were a couple of things in this book that I would have liked a little more information about, but I know it’s a series and I can’t wait to find out more in the next Devlin Brother book! I definitely recommend this book and series if you love your romance with a bit of suspense. I received an advanced reader copy to voluntarily provide an honest review.

The Phoenix Agency has been called in to investigate a missing 13 year old boy. The police consider him a run away and aren't interested in spending any man hours on the case but Team Alegra knows what it means when a child goes missing and they are committed to finding them. Luca Devlin and Jasmine Eckert met with the parents to get information that will help them in their pursuit. And although Jasmine is not a member of the team, she has some invaluable skills that may help with the case. If you read the previous book in this series, you will remember both Jasmine and her friend Lily and how they assisted in solving another missing child case.

In addition to the members of Team Alegra, you will meet a couple of strong ladies that were prominent in the previous novel. This time the main focus is on Luca and Jasmine. In addition to their search for Tyler, there is a strong chemistry between the H & h as well as some witty banter. The story is emotionally driven and will reach right into the reader's heart and leave you breathless at times.

I received an advanced copy and was thoroughly engaged through the entire story. In my opinion the author has presented her readers with an exceptional story.

After reading the first, I was anxious to see what was coming next. This was worth the wait. I enjoy PNR and I enjoy romantic suspense, so to put them together makes me a happy reader. I adored Luca from pretty much the moment we met him in the first book. And I love that we get to know what’s going on inside his head this time around. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of Jasmine. She’s such a lippy smartass in this book. I loved her as Lily’s defender in the first book. But as the thorn in Luca’s side? I was less convinced. It didn’t take long before I was, though. We saw the connection starting as they worked with Mason and Lily and here we get to see it fully blossom. My only complaint is that these stories are so short. They’re just long enough to get me invested and wanting to know more when we get to the end. Oh well, I guess it’s a guarantee that I’ll keep coming back for the rest of the series. It’s sweet, sassy, filled with action and heat. I can’t wait to see what it takes for the Devlin brothers to find out what happened to their sister.

The second book in this series and again brilliant, now all I want is the next book in the series. This book picks up from the first book in the series, but now follows Masons brother Luca and Lilys best friend Jasmine. A new case of missing child, brings Luca and Jasmine together. Jasmine begins to "see" things about the missing child in a way she has never done before. You can feel the passion between Luca and Jasmine burning fiercely in the back ground. Luca tries to suppress his feelings and concentrate on finding the missing child, but after Jasmine, with Lily, goes behind Lucas back in an effort to assist in finding the missing child and has an extremely disturbing vision, they do come together. The vision she has knocks Luca off his feet, but then a phone call takes you to the final chapters and you are drawn into a situation where Luca, Mason, Jasmine & Lily are put at risk. As you reach the climax you ask if it's the brothers or the friends who are going to make it out of this and will they find the child? I want the next book in this series NOW

If you like romantic suspense, you have to read these novellas by Casey Hagen. The characters & action hook you from the very beginning. There is a common thread running through the stories to tie them together. The Devlin brother's sister, Alegra, was kidnapped years ago. Now, between Lily & Jasmine, they have the first clues in years.

Twisted Instincts is Luca & Jasmine's story. Luca has caught the case of Tyler Mishler's suspected kidnapping. The problem is, the police consider him a serial runaway & don't think he was kidnapped. Luca shares their view while Jasmines be is positive he's been kidnapped. This plot is intriguing & kept my attention from the beginning. I love the characters & how these hot Alpha men are having to change what they believe. I can't wait to read Talon's story!

Jasmine is a jack of all trades. She has done it all until she finds out about a missing child and she wants to help she thinks she has finally found her calling. Luca thinks differently he's not even sure if the child is reading missing, but Jasmine feels a connection to the child, so he goes along with it. These two can't get along and when you read this you will see it is more an attraction then an annoyance.

Luca I think is a little jealous of Jasmine and is having some middle child symptoms episodes. He has been successful in his business, but something is missing. Is it the love of a beautiful woman that is missing out of his life.
This was a short story, but I loved it I'm patiently waiting for the other brothers story.
I voluntarily received an arc copy of this story.

Paranormal involvement in a missing boy mystery romance

In this fine follow-up to The Blind Spot, Casey Hagen sets free-spirited psychic Jasmine at odds with skeptical Allegra Agency co-counder Luca Devlin as they work to find and recover a missing young teen boy. The parents claim he's missing, but the police have labeled him as a serial runaway, so Luca is reluctant to investigate. Jasmine's instincts tell her the boy's been kidnapped, but will her firm conviction be enough to convince Luca? In time to save the boy? Great dramatic tension, suspense, and fast pacing are the hallmarks of this novella, likable characters and an over-arching series plot concerning an unsolved case contribute to the mix, and the result is a quick and compelling romantic thriller.

This series has me hooked and I so cannot wait for the next installment! However, we the readers are really being put through the ringer! Everything is connected in some way, whether that be brothers, blood sisters, cases....we are just being drip fed information and left wanting more....is it wrong that I kinda like it?

Luca and Jasmine are so good for each other, just like Mason and Lily from the first installment, they compliment each other and make each other stronger. Please hurry up with Sage and Talon's story, I need more!

Truly Emotional

Although I did not read the first book in this series first (I did purchase it after reading this one) there is plenty of back story so that not much is lost.
This Book gives insight to the sick and depraved minds of society and it could almost read as tomorrow’s headlines. I enjoyed the aspect of the paranormal that both Jasmine and Lily had and the skepticism they received from others due to their abilities.
The romantic part was so, so steamy between Jasmine and Mason.
Looking forward to future books to find out what happened to Alegra.

Jasmine is "just a bit dented but not broken". Her loyalty to Lily has brought Jasmine into contact with the Devlin brothers and Team Alegra. Jasmine and Luca have tiptoed around their attraction. A new missing child will force the two to work together. Will Luca trust Jasmine's "feelings" especially when they concern his missing sister's case? This is the second book in this series and I suggest you read "Blind Spot" first. I'm looking forward to the next brother's book.

Jasmine ran away from home and now knows to trust her gut instinct at all times. Luca is determined to rescue children to save them from the same fate as his sister. They can't help, but be drawn together. Will Jasmine be able to help him find the boy he is searching for? Will Luca receive more answers about his missing sister?

I liked how Jasmine was determined to help regardless of the position it put her in. I didn't blame Luca for being hesitant, but was happy when he realized he couldn't restrain who she was. Good read and cannot wait for more in this series!

I received this book as part of an ARC review. It is very good. Jasmine decides to speak up despite not being believed in the past about her abilities. She feels strongly that Tyler didn't run away. The chemistry between Jasmine and Luca is quite strong. As Tyler's case is being investigated, Jasmine gets visions of Luca's missing sister. I was quite happy when Tyler was rescued. I really want to read the rest of this series now.

I was given a free copy and this is my honest review; I am not sure how to describe it, maybe Psychic romance with a bit of a thriller thrown in; the plott was well written and gripping, the story was dark in places and there was a romance between the main characters which showed depth on several levels. I liked the back plot which refers to other charchters in this series of books. A well written book which kept me interested to the end

GREAT ROMANCE AND ADVENTURE

Luca Devlin heads the next case assigned to the Alegra Team. A young boy is missing and the police consider him a habitual runaway. The parents meet with Luca and ask him to take the case. Although Luca is sceptical of Jasmine's abilities, he agreed to let her tag along. Jasmine's psychic abilities are getting stronger. Luca keeps fighting his attraction to her but the closer they work together the more difficult it becomes.

This is the second book with the Devlin brothers who run an agency to find missing kids. Jasmine was a physic who just knew stuff at time and had few new things happen to her. Luca was the brother running this investigation and it just continued to have more clues to their own sisters disappearance. The two had great chemistry and lots of action. Can't wait for the next book. This was a fast and fun read. Loved it!!

The book was good. I didn't understand why Luca was against Jasmine working for them, I know she wasn't a agent but Lily had did some work for them and her abilities was almost the same as Jasmine. The book had some exciting parts and unexpected character was involved in the plot. Overall it was good, but I didn't like the ending of the book it seem like it kind of left you hanging.
