I’m bummed I was wrong on who the pantry droppers are but I LOVED the book. So proud of how Carter handled Cy. It was awesome to see them grow together and survive the woods. Now my only problem is having to wait for Piper’s book.
This one is a tiny bit different to the rest. Carter isn’t a warrior like the rest of the alphas (still an alpha, but not trained), so in this story, when she is attacked, he is struggling through like she is.
I love this book....I love this town.....I love all the crazy Keeneston residents.
We seem to have been waiting forever for Carter and Reagan's story - but it was worth every second of that wait. Carter may be the quiet one....but you know what they say about the quiet ones!! He knows he will have an uphill battle to prove himself not only to Rea, but to Cy and the rest of Keeneston too. If that was his only challenge, his life would be easy! But he will do everything he has to to make Reagan his......forever! Rea knows how protective Cy is, she knows how underhand he can be, but how long will it take for her to realise how strong Carter is, how deep his love is and how far he will go to protect her and keep her safe? Will she follow her head or her heart? Will she finally call Cy out and stand up to him? Will she hand Carter all of her heart? Once again Kathleen has produced another book packed full of fun. laughter, sex, tension, crazy plots, bad guys who don't know when to stop or who they are up against when they target one of Keeneston's own. I loved every page of this and as with most of Kathleen's books, I read it in one sitting. You do need to have read the rest of the Keeneston series to know what is going on, yes this is technically a stand alone book, but you do need the background for the sub-plots to make sense.
Forever Hunted is the ninth book in the Forever Bluegrass series (Bluegrass Book #23) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm. A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up. Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read. With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all. The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter. But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating. I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed. Happy reading! 📚💙
This is another amazing suspenseful romance in the Forever Bluegrass series with Reagan, Cy Davis's daughter finally coming clean with her relationship with Carter, who owned the horse farm. They had secretly been together for eighteen months but at a family wedding Carter kissed her in front of everyone to let them know they were a couple. By did not take it well and leaped across the tables and locked him. This was just the beginning of the abuse Carter had to take to prove to Cy he was good enough to date his daughter. Besides this Carter was looking into the possibility that one of his favorite clients that was a recent widow, Mrs. Bristol, was being cheated out of money by her new younger boyfriend Mike. He talked her into investing in a horse that was not worth what they paid for her and Mrs. Bristol suspected it but loved the sweet horse anyway. They were going to fly the horse for a race on Reagan's new plane and Carter was going with them to propose to Reagan on the flight. Mike got on the flight at the last minute and as it turns out was up to no good. This is where the story gets exciting as they have to make a crash landing after Mike broke the gas gauges and they ran out of fuel. Reagan does a great job of landing the plane but Mike managed to kill Mrs. Bristol as they were landing by releasing her seat belt. As it turns out he was out to kill everyone on the flight and Carter and Reagan had to run for their lives. He was doing it for the insurance money but he had his work cut out for him if he thought they would be easy to kill. With the whole town out to rescue Reagan and Carter and trying to catch Mike before he could kill them and the horse. This was so exciting as Reagan and Carter evaded this ruthless man and they catch him in the end. They even get married after Mike's partner managed to shoot Carter who was protecting Reagan at the time. This was just a fantastic story with so many unexpected twists and turns as Carter and Reagan get their happily ever after with the help from the peop!e of Keenston and their family. I cannot wait to read the next release in this series which keeps you on the edge of your seat and is so romantic as well.
Every time I read another book set in Keeneston, KY I wonder what Kathleen Brooks can bring us next...She never disappoints me and with Carter and Reagan she gives us more of what we want, the whole dang gang of the town of Keeneston. I laugh, cry, cheer and wonder at each turn of the page what mystery and romance will come my way.
Carter and Reagan have been childhood friends, but in one moment all of that changed for them when their feelings for each go from childhood to adulthood feelings. Carter show her that they can't fight the feelings they have for one another and for Reagan to bring their relationship out in the open and not to be scared to tell her dad, Cy Davies. He is not one to have anyone trifle with his baby girl. But in true style the secret comes out and the world around them changes. In more ways than just outing their relationship, a trip on Reagan's plan brings about a sinister plot that turns dangerous and both Reagan and Carter are fighting for their lives. They know if they stay together the killer won't get them and they know that when the chips are down, that troops will rally round and come to the rescue and no one will get in the way of the Keeneston inhabitants when one or two of their own are in trouble.
Reagan and Carter's story is another great trip into the lives, loves and town of Keeneston. I continue to re-read this series in between editions, so this is seriously good, each edition brings the core characters back, funny, heart warming and now their children's adventures continue the traditions. Over protective fathers make falling in love difficult, even if it's a member of the extended family - Reagan cannot risk her father knowing about her relationship, until Carter takes things into his own hands, throw in a bad guy, a plot involving a horse, an old friend, extortion and fraud, a series of events that will have you on the edge of your seat. Loved it, cannot recommend highly enough, treat yourself to to the whole series if you aren't familiar with the series, alpha guys, military, spies, geeks, farmers and the ladies that bring them to their knees, sizzling sexy moments and mystery and intrigue, splash of royalty, badass guys too and love underlying it all not forgetting a set of triplet old ladies who kinda run the town - you'll love it!!
Overall Amanda score: A This book had me turning pages so fast. I had such a hard time putting it down. I actually read this book during my daughters nap time and let my other kids watch TV just so I could not have any interruptions... The plot: absolute perfection. I honestly found nothing wrong with any of the writing or the story line. I didn't have to turn back to the previous page to see if I missed anything. Carter: I know he was in some of the other books, but I really liked getting to learn more about his character. He actually surprised me quite a bit. Reagan: She was flawless. So perfectly flawless. Cy: who doesn't want this guy for a dad? I mean he is only that overprotective because he wants the best for his daughters. I can't fault him for that. I have a feeling I will be just as bad when boys start coming around for my little princess. Ahmed: This guy and his secret love for the dog makes this series. I am not kidding. Such a big, bad, scary, mean guy brought to baby talk with a doggie he claims to hate.... I know I say this a lot but if you are not reading these books what are you doing with your life??
Carter and Reagan both decide to let the other one know that their feelings for each other are more than friendship. Carter takes the first step and Reagan is stunned to find out that her feelings are reciprocated. So begins their secret relationship that is kept under wraps for a lot longer than Carter wanted it to be. Loved how he stood up to Cy without flinching. He was a great choice for Reagan since he didn't back down from Cy or any of their family and friends. He was more forceful than anyone gave him credit for and it was nice to see. Reagan did have to come to terms with not allowing her father to dictate her life and stand up for herself and her love. It was nice to see her come to the right conclusion and not allow any outside pressure to change her mind. Although the book was quite suspenseful, it only added to their story. I liked the whole book and was pleased at how it all came together. One of my favorites of this series.
I think this may be my favorite book so far! There's just something about a country boy that makes your heart skip a beat. Carter is sweet but won't let anyone hurt Reagan..even her dad who is against them being together. Poor Cy, he thinks Carter is a good man but not the man for Reagan. That is until Carter stands up to Cy... After getting Cy's blessing, Carter knows he wants to spend forever with Reagan. What better way to propose than where it all began..but what happens when the plane goes down and a killer is after Carter and Reagan?? Can Carter save the woman he loves or will they both be killed before they can say I do?? We see different sides of Cy and Ahmed in this one too... It just makes you love them all even more!! I laughed and teared up while reading this and to me..that makes a good book!!
I LOVED this one!!! I laughed, cried, cringed...and while reading - Reagan and Carter are amazing. No longer in the background. I was listening to music while reading and some of the songs hit right at the right time:
I heard My Girl by Tim McGraw just after reading where Cy talks about his girls always being his responsibility. I heard Randy Travis sing "deeper than a holler" just after reading about the holler, not hollow. And there were a few others that my brain is forgetting. What a great story - I love that Kathleen puts light suspense in that doesn't make my adrenaline rise (which increases pain) but makes the story interesting.
If you haven't read any books about Keeneston, I highly recommend starting with Bluegrass State of Mind and going forth as the characters invite you to be a part of the community and family...with love and kick butt support.
Once again another winner from Kathleen Brooks! Carter and Reagan are a couple who grew to love. The book had great funny parts involving the elders and Cy although funny at times was a bit much but when push came to shove he was there and eventually he accepted. I of course loved all the updates on the other characters. The suspense and drama associated with each story was top notch and I loved how it was not easy to complete. I especially loved how it didn't happen in Keeneston but Keeneston came to them! After all family is family right!!! If I had a complaint it would be that Reagan had too many "daddy issues" and put way to much stress and wasted too much time on worrying about his feelings. Also I know Granmom and Grandpop Davis retired to Florida they should have been back for the main event especially since the long lost cousins were there.
Forever Hunted is an intense, thrilling installment featuring Carter Ashton and Reagan Davies. Their secret relationship takes a dangerous turn when an old family friend asks for help, pulling them into a deadly game of cat and mouse. As their lives are at risk, Carter and Reagan must fight not only for their love but for their survival. The suspense is palpable in this book, with danger lurking at every corner. The emotional depth of Carter and Reagan’s relationship adds a layer of tension to the fast-paced action. Brooks weaves a compelling tale of love and survival, ensuring readers are on the edge of their seats until the very last page. Forever Hunted is a must-read for fans of romantic suspense, offering an unforgettable ride full of thrills and heart.
What can I say? This is another great read from Ms. Brooks. The pace is a little different. Totally understandable due to the relationship being a secret before the story finally unfolds. Carter Ashton and Reagan Davies is a perfect match! Carter, being labeled "a good guy" , gets the girl! I absolutely loved reading this book and how a great man does not need to be all alpha and tough to get a happily ever after.
There are some laugh out loud moments that were comedic gold!! The biggest alpha going all soft over a dog he calls "spawn of Satan", and the dog's antics will just make you smile something fierce. 5 + stars!! Highly recommended!!
Thank you Kathleen Brooks, that story was awesome. I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat reading this story. Carter Ashton was a nice guy of the bunch always. Reagan father was a spy and taught her everything she knows, including flight lessons. Carter was helping an old family friend with a horse, when she suspected that her knew boyfriend hook up with her for the money. Reagan on the other hand started Keeneston Air, flying horse and other animals. Reagan was flying the friend and horse when plane was sabotaged, they survived the flight but the fight for their lives was far from over. Exciting story... loved it.
I really like it everytime I can go back to Keeneston in a new story. This time it's the story of Reagan and Carter.
I really loved how Carter showed the whole town, that one can be a bad-ass without having military/law enforcement background.
Unfortunately I had a harder time with Rae. She needed 16 months to fess up that she was in love with Carter. And if Carter hadn't "forced" her hand, I'm not sure she would have had the guts to openly admit it either. For someone supposed to be my age, she behaved way too much like a scarredy cat.
Same goes for Cy, he may be one of my favourites of the older generation, but boy had he had that slap coming.
Forever Hunted (Forever Bluegrass,#9) by Kathleen Brooks is a contemporary romance. How can you not fall in love with this town and it's people. This has been a great series and this is a good book but I was a little disappointed with the portrayal of some of the older characters that we've come to love and enjoy. Also, there were quite a few mix-ups in character names throughout the book that left me distracted. Just my thoughts in that there are so many characters and cousins involved it's hard to keep rack of who belongs to whom without referencing the family tree. I am however looking forward to the next book.
What do you do, when after keeping your affair with your lifelong best friend a secret for 16 months, and your overprotective father, with the support of all his brothers, nephews, and friends, try to put a really bad "hurt" on your lover, who's suppose to be their friend as well?
Throw in the romance with getting engaged within 24 hours, with horseracing intrigue, a sabotaged plane, being hunted in the southern Appalachians, and married with 48 hours of everything, and you have a cute story.
Not necessarily my favorite Bluegrass story, but I did like it.
Amazing!! It is an exciting, heartwarming, funny, & suspenseful story. Reagan & Carter, have been best friends forever. But something suddenly changed between them. Now, their biggest roadblock is Daddy dearest, Cy. Reagan was flying a horse, & owner to a horse track. Carter joined her, along with the owner's sketchy boyfriend. When unforseen tragedy occurrs, everyone's life is in jeopardy. The story pulled me in, & kept me reading, wanting to find out what happens next. One of the special highlights of the book for me is Ahmed & Robyn, his Spawn. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE!!!
Another great story in the Forever Bluegrass series
After I read a new story in this series, I wonder how it can get any better. And it always is! Carter and Reagan's story is exciting and fun. The world that Brooks has built in Keeneston stays with her readers and always begging for more. If you enjoy romantic suspense and haven't visited Keeneston, I recommend you grab Bluegrass State of Mind and begin your adventure into this fun world. You won't be disappointed.
Another winner! Loved this book. It was fantastic. The plot was intriguing and suspenseful! I really enjoyed how cleverly Kathleen weaves in the events of some of the other books in the series that happened during the past 16 months of secret dating that Carter and Reagan did into the book. I have loved every book in this series and can't wait to read what happens next to these wonderful characters and the town of Keeneston!!!
Reagan and Carter friends to secret lovers romance was fun and an adventure. It goes to show how the quiet ones are the people to watch out for. Carter had more than one trick up his sleeve but in walked greed and the race was on.
I do have to say, Kathleen caught me off guard with this storyline put it was fun and held true to her all the same. Even Cy and Ahmed had some great cameos in this one.
As always Kathleen Brooks delivers the romance, alpha male hotness and just enough thrill to make this an awesome book. loved reading this book. sad to find out the panty dropper isnt who I thought it was. But that change in attitude of one of the main characters at the end is downright hilarious. loved how even though they were in a different town the people were still roughly the same of protect our own/someone brought into the fold by a trusted person. I will never get enough of these books.
I love this book! Ms. Brooks has done it again. Picking up one of these books is like visiting your family. There are those you want to shake, hug, and everything in between. I’m so glad to see everyone having babies, because without babies, their may come a time when we have no more books. And, I’ll think my family has disappeared. Smiles! Keep them coming! They are great, as ever!
Having read every book in the Bluegrass series i was disappointed in this one. I usually laugh at all the funny lines but not in this one. I didn't like the change in my favourite character Ahmed the real tough badass. It seems to be miraculous that the three Rose sisters who are over 100 years old still are still around. I will still buy the next book and hope it is better that this one.
Waiting forever for Carter and Reagan to get together. Reagan's over the top dad must be dealt with...as well as con artist/murderers using Reagan's flying service as part of their con. Carter shows all the uberdads what he is made of...and Reagan finds the courage to stand up to her dad..finally. Love their town...and the folks in it...even if some dads need to be brought down a notch or two. Totally recommend this series and this book.
I loved Carter and Reagan’s story. This was another over 5 star book by Kathleen Brooks. She writes the best stories involving the whole Keeneston town/family. Never a dull moment in her books. Thank You Kathleen Brooks for letting us enjoy all Kenneston has to offer. Friendship, Love, Family, and Togetherness.
Kathleen Brooks spins an outstanding tale. This book has romance and humor all wrapped up in intrigue as two lovers have to fight not only for their love but also their life. I couldn't put it down so here I am at 3:30 a.m. writing a review but the sleep lost was worth it.
The latest story from Kemmeston, Kentucky finds Carter Ashton and Reagan Davies keeping their relationship under wraps for 16 months. Reagan's overprotective form spy Cy reacts in a laugh out loud manner that readers of the series will love. A fast-paced page turner.
As always an adventure with the Town of Keenston is the best ever!!
Thank you Kathleen This was the perfect book for Mothers day/birthday weekend!! I loved the Tennessee element you can take Keenston anywhere and it's still wonderfully Keenston!!! Ahmed and Robyn had me laughing out so hard I woke my hubby up twice! Can not wait for Piper's story!
