I read all these books at different times and as singles. Some of them were read as ARCs, I bought this boxset to have them all together. Here are the reviews I did for each.
Digging the Wolf I have mixed feelings about this book. I think the concept was a good one and I really liked the first meeting with Luke. He appeared to be a good looking, put together, man with a little mean about him. He was aloof and it appeared he was not going to take any crap from the head archeologist. This facade didn't last long once he was alone in the cave with Anna. By the end of the book he acted more like a hormone driven teenager than a fairly mature wolf. Evidently finding his mate made him regress. There is a mysterious black wolf running around causing havoc, but I didn't have much trouble picking out who that was. I thought Anna embraced the whole supernatural being thing pretty quickly too, but I suppose watching your male fantasy turn into a wolf right in front of you will do that. All in all the book was OK. There was some sex, but not too much. There was some conflict and at least one unpleasant girl to dislike. I could also see the possibility for some sequels. If you like paranormal romance with some humor thrown in you will probably like this book. I voluntarily received a free copy of this book to read. The opinions are my own.
Writing the Wolf I had somehow read the rest of the books in the series, but hadn't read this one. This is Caleb and Rosa's story. Caleb made an appearance in book 1 where he tried to steal his cousin's mate. In this book he runs into his own, literally.
Rosa has come to Crookshollow to escape the persecution she faced in her previous town. She is a woman of color and has always felt she is treated as less because of it. She rents one of Margaret's cabins and is going to write a novel about her anger, grief, and feelings about what happened to her. Some plumbing problems lead to her running into her neighbor, and boy does that send a shock to her system. But Caleb is white, and she knows this can only bring sorrow. But when his shifter life causes her to be attacked and in danger, Caleb is determined to protect her. She may not understand that she is his mate, or be ready to commit to him, but he will see that she is safe from his stepbrothers.
I will not tell you any more of the plot. Read it and the rest of the series.
Inking the Wolf I have not read all the books in this series, but I had no problem following this story. This is the love story of Robbie and Bianca. Alike, but very different. One lived in the woods and had nothing and one lived in a mansion and had everything, but each grew up without the love that should go with having a family. They are best friends even though one is a wolf shifter and one is a human. They now belong to the same pack, but is that enough?
Bianca is a rebel. She runs the local tattoo shop and has been sort of adopted by the local wolf pack. She is not particular about the gender of her sexual partners, and that has made her persona non grata to her parents. She doesn't really care as she considers them to be cold and racist to boot. She much prefers her shifter friends and their mates, though she has many artist friends all over the world. Robbie is an outcast from his wolf pack, and he is glad of it. His father's only goal was for his sons to follow in his footsteps in the world of illegal drugs and weapons sales. He has never learned to read or write properly and tries to keep that a secret.
Bianca's grandmother has died and left her a large Victorian house that would be perfect for the artist retreat that Bianca has always dreamed of building. There is only one problem, to get the inheritance she must be married - to a man. There is only one man she could see herself marrying, her best friend Robbie. It would be a fake marriage, but they would have a home together and how hard could it be to be married to your best friend? Robbie has been in love with Bianca ever since he laid eyes on her. He knows she is anti-commitment and prefers women, but he also knows she is his fated mate. Maybe this fake marriage thing could work out in the end?
I had some problems with this book. I didn't like the way Robbie was treated by Bianca and the pack towards the end of the book. Either your family, such as it is, is on your side or it isn't. Quit going back and forth and believing every little thing you hear and immediately jumping to the "obvious" conclusion. Wasn't so obvious to me.
I would like to read some of the other books in the series when I get time. I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Wedding the Wolf I have not read all of this series, but I had no problem following along in this book. I believe it did help that I had read the book previous to this one. I was pleasantly surprised at the book's length, as so many books are short these days.
This story is about Willow, a wedding planner, and Irvine, a Scottish Alpha in the area to work with the local Alpha, Caleb, on an important project. The two meet at Robbie and Bianca's wedding which takes place in the last book, which runs concurrently with much of this story. Willow can detect wolf shifters by their scent and she has a fear of them. As a small child, she lost part of one leg to a wolf shifter, her own father, and has always avoided them because of it. She can't believe that so many of them exist in the small town where she has taken up residence.
Irvine knows almost immediately that Willow is his fated mate, but he also realizes that she knows what he is and is not comfortable around him. He also has an important mission that will only be made difficult by trying to woo his mate, especially since she is human. When she tells him about her leg, the only person in town she has told, he can see that she thinks this a deformity that will never be accepted by a man. This makes him angry, not only at her father but at whoever made this beautiful woman feel this way. He has his own secrets that make him feel unworthy of a mate, but he can't resist the tug that draws him to Willow.
I won't pretend to understand Willow's frame of mind, but I found some of her actions to be unexpected. The entirety of Irvine's story is not revealed right away, but it does help to explain some of his actions. I was very caught up in the story and read the book like a fiend to find out what was going to happen. There is much to this story.
I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Digging The Wolf #1 Anna is studying archeology and is spending several weeks at a dig near Crookshollow. The ranger overseeing the dig site is called away, but his replacement soon arrives. Luke takes one look at Anna and knows that she is his mate. He also arranged to replace the other ranger in an effort to protect his family secrets from discovery. Luke and Anna act upon their instant attraction, but there is one person who is determined to keep them apart. Anna and Luke are a sizzling hot couple with pasts that make it difficult to trust the possibility of finding happiness. Fantastic shifter romance with a happily ever after.
Writing The Wolf #2 Rosa became involved with a married man, of course she didn't know at first that he was married. After she lost everything she decides to move to Crookshollow, where she will have peace and quiet, and she can write her book. When she meets Caleb, the gorgeous Scottish handyman, she is determined to keep her distance no matter how attracted she is to him. Caleb takes one look at the beautiful Rosa, and a single touch, tells him that she is his fated mate. Unfortunately, Caleb's stepmother are in Crookshollow, they are determined to make him return to his pack in Scotland and won't hesitate to use Rosa to force him to do so. Wow, fascinating, hot and sexy characters, Rosa has a difficult time believing she can trust Caleb. Caleb wants nothing but to keep his mate safe and protect her. Fantastic book, I loved it.
Inking The Wolf #3 Bianca has sworn she will never get married. Her grandmother passed and leaves her property, but in order to inherit she has to get married. Her best friend, Robbie, suggests that they get married so Bianca can live her dream. Bianca and Robbie eventually realize how much stronger their love makes them. Wow, well written and complex characters, a fascinating plot with surprising twists, this is a must read. Fantastic book!
Wedding The Wolf #4 Willow changed her name and moved to Crookshollow to get away from her mother and live life on her own terms. Irvine is a wolf shifter and is working with others to bring all shifters out of the shadows. They will soon discover that they are fated mates, but old prejudice is difficult to overcome, and may tear them apart. Willow and Irvine will have to overcome many obstacles, including their own prejudices, in order to find their happily ever after. An exciting plot with a little suspense and fascinating, well written characters. Fantastic book, I loved this conclusion to a must read series.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
Digging the Wolf not only continues the Crookshollow mythology I love, it adds to the mythology with Wolves. I really like these characters, we get the background to really get to know Anna and Luke, even Caleb. Anna and Luke grow emotionally through the story, individually and as a couple. Add in the mystery of the cave and the other wolves and I just couldn't stop reading till it was finished. This may have just taken over he top spot of my Crookshollow books.
Inking the wolf gives us a tumultuous friend to spouse to mate story. Two scarred souls, when Bianca and Robbie met they became fast friends. Their pasts soon throw a wrench in their relationship each of them have secrets and deep pains. The overarching plot line of finding the Benedict ring continues to be a mystery adding to the addiction to this book. And the HEA is ever so sweet.
Wedding the Wolf brings us back to Crookshollow. Characters we've read about before are joined by Willow the wedding planner and Irvine another wolf helping with The Plan. Willow is stronger than she gives herself credit for and Irvine is much more virtuous. If sex made a relationship theirs would be perfect. Sometimes sad their story is also hopeful, but these scarred individuals have secrets, lies, and stalkers to go through. This page turner keeps you guessing and draws you into this wild fun world.
5 Stars for a very entertaining collection of stories. Each story has characters that you are going to love reading about. The humor is laugh out loud funny and the action is just enough to make the stories flow together from one book into the next. It was only the last story with Carol Winters that I even found a character to dislike and that was because she was such a selfish little thing. I just wanted to slap her and tell her it was time to cancel the pity party! But you will enjoy reading this collection.
Wolves of Crookshollow Collection is a box set of the series Wolves of Crookshollow books 1-4 and totals about 1120 pages. I have enjoyed these shiftier stories that Ms. Holmes has given to us. I love the characters and of course her writing makes these such a great set. It nice to have a one stop shop for this series.
Definitely wasn't what I thought . The stories were better then I thought. Nothing like a wolf going after what he wants. And finding out he has to work for it. Oops. I meant work for.
Once you get into all the different characters you can not believe what happens to all of them. Starting out with a forest ranger and ending with a daddy wolf day care. Fantastic read.
I LOVED THIE SERIES A DIFFERNT TAKE, ESPECIALLY IN THE LAST BOOK. I COULD NT SEE HOW IT WOULD END, BUT I WAS WRONG AGAIN... MAYBE TOO MUCH INTIMACY GOING ON, BUT THATS JUST ME !!
