At the end of Sin With Me everything was left up in the air. That stunning revelation at the end completely messed them up and each of them deals with it in very different ways. Tyler feels like everything is spinning out of control and he is desperate to make sense of why Maddie has come back into his life, it has to mean something right? In the meantime he will do a little bit of self destructing while he works it out.
Maddie is dealing with an angel on one shoulder and the devil on her other one. They give her conflicting advice and she struggles with her inner monologue. One thing that has changed however is that she is fucking done with all the shit that people throw at her. She is determined to not let the noose around her neck get any tighter while she figures her way out of the mess she is in.
Tyler knows one thing is true and this is he needs to explore this intense connection with Maggie. Now he just has to figure out how to get through to her and win his way back into her life. She feels like home to him and he hasn’t felt like that in years.
Staying angry with Tyler is not as easy as Maddie thought it would be. She has been in love with him her whole life so she should be happy to see him again but how can she put any faith in someone who wasn’t there when she needed him in her darkest days.
Maddie fighting an uphill battle with her heart, her emotions and her desire to be with Tyler. She starts to recognise the reasons why she fell for him once again and fighting against it seems just pointless now. Understanding what happened and how he became the way he is now comes slowly but they do get there. Tyler truly does step up and Maddie is seeing the boy he once was and the man he might one day be revealed to her every day she is with him. She has been caught and doesn’t want to be set free again.
There is a lot happening in this story, including some not so nice characters who are determined to get what is owed to them and another rather nasty, tragic cliff hanger. Maddie has reached the level of no return now with her desire to seek revenge so the third book is gonna be crazy and I cannot wait!

Book two of the Original Sin series continues the story of Maddie and Tyler. We’ve met the characters, we’ve experienced their meeting and now we are really getting to the nitty-gritty of each character.
And although this installment did have some suspense to it, what I found was it was about diving deeper into each character. Tyler is screwed up, no doubt. And Maddie, man that girl really needs to catch a break. And together these two broken characters have to fight to save themselves – through saving one another.
I am A HUGE JA HUSS fan and am totally on team #HussMcClain. I am eager to find out what happens in the city of sin. Angels Fall was a little bit slower pace, but still just as hot as book one. I have a feeling this book was the slow burn portion of the story.
And again, Maddie had my heart. I am torn over what I want more for her – for her to finally win one on her own, or for her to let Tyler just make it all go away. And Tyler. Shit. He’s quirky, effed up and I am loving his sarcasm. As the story progresses, you start to see it as a coping mechanism, which has me trying to figure him out. I think we’ve barely scratched the surface when it comes to his character.
Flesh Into Fire releases in just a few weeks (April 17th) and I can’t wait

Wow! Once more this writing duo blew me away!
I don’t want to give any spoilers so I will try to refrain from giving any actual details of this amazing story. Maddie’s character, having been broken too many times, faces the heavy burden of depression even as she forces herself to continue onward each day. Things around her are changing and while some hold the promise of goodness, they are not geared toward her. She continues to walk the path planned out for her by the man who holds her accountable for the loss of a great sum of money. A condition that will ultimately cost her so much more than a mere number of currency.
Tyler has a driving need to make things right with Maddie but is lost and confused how to do it. The totally crazy, druggy mind thoughts we witnessed in the first book subsides into witty banter within himself. His reckless actions from before become determination to find a solution to fix the pain he inflicted on Maddie so many years ago. Filled with a desire to not only correct his past mistake but to win her back, he seeks counsel from those around him. Those conversations were interesting, humorous and often times heartfelt.
While the first book in this series showed us the despair this couple lived with daily, this one showcases their struggle to rise from the additional pain their parting left with them. Together this writing duo absolutely pulls you into the emotions that they each dealt with as they find not only themselves, but what the other could possibly mean to their future.
The ending is again a cliffhanger and once more I had to grit my teeth as the promise of Maddie’s full character teased me. I can feel it coming and I am anxious to learn the additional paths this couple will have to travel to find their peace.

"...you're not a distraction. You're the only hope I have left..."
Although Sin With Me didn't leave the best impression on me, I was still curious to check out the sequel to see if this story would improve. Long story short: IT GOT EVEN WORSE. I'm going to drop a few spoilers so if you haven't read the first book yet, then avert your eyes.
Angels Fall picks up right where Sin With Me left off. Maddie is taken by Carlos Castillo and is told that she must repay her debt or else. Tyler wants to do whatever it takes to help Maddie get out of this situation, even though she does not want his help. While all this drama is occurring, Maddie and Tyler are trying to work out their feelings for one another but mistakes from the past keep them from moving forward.
Just like with the previous book, the writing was not to my liking. If erotica and rom-com were to have a kid, this series would be the end result. As much as I love those two genres, I don't think they work well together. The writing is just over the top with the capitalization in the dialogue to Tyler's random ass dreams involving James Franco. I don't care for either of our characters. I already didn't like Tyler because his personality was just too much, but Maddie annoyed me in this book. Like, a drug lord is after your ass, stop playing around and figure out a plan to save your ass. The romance was a let down because when these two weren't fighting about the past, they were fucking. RINSE AND REPEAT. I was just hoping for more when it came to this sequel and I didn't feel like I got much until the end. This book does end with a cliffhanger, but I don't really care to see what happens next. I'm throwing in the towel and DNFing this series while I'm ahead.

Sin With Me left us with huge cliffhangers and Angels Fall is about dealing with the aftermath.
Tyler realizes he’s been coasting by on life and now he has a new purpose. Help Maddie. Not only does he want to help her, but he also wants to win her back. He just isn’t sure how to do that when she wants nothing to do with him. Tyler turns to Maddie’s boss, the owner of the strip club, for advice.
Maddie had the shock of her life and she’s not handling it well. Her life seems to be spiraling out of control. The man she felt a connection to is the one who let her down when she needed him the most. She has another powerful man insisting she pay back money she doesn’t owe, and maybe it’s time she took some control back.
These two are a mess, but a very entertaining mess. I found it hilarious that Tyler bonded with Maddie’s boss, the strip club owner. Maddie was awesome when she went all fight club on Logan, the nephew of the man pressing her for money. And then there was some sad moments when things got real. This ends on another cliffhanger that has Maddie about to get all fight club again. I can’t wait! ARC provided by Authors.

“‘…It’s up to us to decide what something means.’”
The quirky brilliance of J. A. Huss and wit of her newest writing partner, Johnathan McClain is once again marvelously displayed in this the second installment of the four-book saga, “The Original Sin” series. This book aptly titled “Angels Fall”, on its face, is an exciting story of previously star-crossed loves Tyler and Maddie finding each other and dealing with painful issues from the past and present. If you take a moment to savor the allegory and symbolism, the narrative is peppered with themes of man’s construct of God, the fundamental meaning behind what happens in our lives, and how love for one another can be redemption for anyone’s fall from grace.
Oh, it is so tempting to get lost in the story because it is so darkly interesting, exciting and for lack of a better word, a bit “kooky”. And do not get me started on the level of heat radiating from the page. Erotica never had more skilled pens!!! OMG!!! Because I love her writing so, I can almost guess the parts Ms. Huss wrote. I also have a feeling about which parts Mr. McClain wrote. Let’s just say there’s a certain charm that Tyler acquires that bears the touch of a male author. The net result is a memorable first half to an exciting series that is engrossing and entertaining in many ways.
I have enjoyed the character development of both Tyler and Maddie. Tyler after barely surviving his self-made inferno, seems to embrace a new mission to right the wrong Maddie holds in her heart against him. He pursues Maddie with single-minded purpose and surprising emotional intelligence.
For her part, Maddie is wrestling with both an angel and the devil on each shoulder in the classic fashion. In fact, her stripper personae transformed from pure angel to red devil, pitch fork and all. She still has her problem with the underworld boss who now thinks he is in love with her. In fact, her problem escalates eventually to an unbearable level of tolerance. She is transformed by both her love that she shares with Tyler and an unburdening of her heart over the death of her brother.
I find the title to this book fascinating. There are so many references to falling, especially when Maddie is describing her feelings. Quite obviously both Tyler and Maddie are “falling” in love with each other. Yet again, when the angels fell from heaven, they became devils, so I am at quite the personal impasse about what exactly the authors are suggesting with their title unless “‘…It’s up to us to decide what something means.’”

OMG I seriously haven't laughed so much reading a book in a good while. "Angels Fall" is the second instalment in the "Original Sin" series and it was bloody brilliant. There was just so much that I loved about this book. The direction the story took kept me seriously entertained and I absolutely relished in the fact that the humour was turned up a good few notches too. If you thought book one was funny, think again. Honest to god, if it wasn't Tyler, Maddie and their crazy inner monologues that had my sides hurting with laughter, it was the banter they shared. If it wasn't that, then it was the often bizarre and crazy situations these two found themselves in that had my cheeks hurting from grinning so big. James Franco, stripper shoes, fox tails and devils pitch forks ... those scenes and so many more were made even funnier because the authors used their word scorcery to ensure I could visualise them in my head. These two cracked me up. You really couldn't make this shit up.... okay so you could because these authors did and they did it so well. It takes a lot to make me laugh and these two did it effortlessly.
I loved the growth I saw in both Tyler and Maddie's characters. There were a few light bulb moments for sure which meant a step in the right direction in the healing process and a few sucker punches to my heart courtesy of the authors as a result of that.
So did "Angels Fall" end on a cliffy? Well of course it did and I cannot wait to see what happens next. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" .... I reckon we're going to see a side to Maddie we've only seen tiny glimpses of so far!!!! I can see so much trouble ahead for these two!!!! lol Bring it on.

I don't want to be his hope. I don't even have enough hope for myself.As well as humour, there was also an abundance of action and drama because, well... Tyler and Maddie just some how managed to attract it. If something was going to go wrong, it went wrong for Maddie and Tyler was there to help pick up the pieces. My hero!!!! I loved Tyler's character so much in this book. Now I'm not sure I'd want him as a boyfriend because there were times he just made my head spin as I tried to catch up with him (he was such a speedy Gonzalez in body and mind). But he was just too cute at times and he would do anything to save his leading lady, even if she didn't want his help. As for Maddie, I really just wanted her to catch a break in life!!! Luck just wasn't on her side and with her history with Tyler still affecting her deeply, things were not good.

If you haven’t started this SEXY and INTRIGUING series yet, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! It’s an absolute SEXY romance with a suspenseful BITE! Cowriters JA Huss and Johnathan McClain has definitely proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in this genre! JA Huss has always been a favorite of mine, but with the addition of Johnathan’s words…well, they have brought something damn special to the table with their Original Sin Series.
I can’t say much because this is a true series and I don’t want to give anything away, but what I can tell you is that Maddie and Tyler are my DELICIOUS ADDICTION! Their push/pull dynamic, both with their banter and their emotions, completely captivate me and hold me hostage to every single word on the pages. The SEX is SCORCHING HOT, but you really shouldn’t be surprised by that. The ongoing storyline is fascinating and completely seductive. My head and my heart are at WAR when it comes to these two characters. I’ve been drawn in by the drama and enthralled by their epic journey.
I’m all sorts of conflicted because I know there are two more books coming out and man, do I want to savor the hell out of them. But on the other hand I need Maddie and Tyler’s HEA like I need my next breath, so all in all, I’m pretty much screwed when it comes to getting what I want. Either way, I have no doubt that I will be 150% satisfied with how this all ends. The collaboration that is JA Huss and Johnathan McClain just keeps getting better and better and we can only hope that this series isn’t the only project in the works for these two!

JA Huss has always been a favorite of mine, but with the addition of Johnathan’s words…well, they have brought something damn special to the table with their Original Sin Series.
I can’t say much because this is a true series and I don’t want to give anything away, but what I can tell you is that Maddie and Tyler are my DELICIOUS ADDICTION! Their push/pull dynamic, both with their banter and their emotions, completely captivate me and hold me hostage to every single word on the pages. The SEX is SCORCHING HOT, but you really shouldn’t be surprised by that. The ongoing storyline is fascinating and completely seductive. My head and my heart are at WAR when it comes to these two characters. I’ve been drawn in by the drama and enthralled by their epic journey.
I’m all sorts of conflicted because I know there are two more books coming out and man, do I want to savor the hell out of them. But on the other hand I need Maddie and Tyler’s HEA like I need my next breath, so all in all, I’m pretty much screwed when it comes to getting what I want. Either way, I have no doubt that I will be 150% satisfied with how this all ends. The collaboration that is JA Huss and Johnathan McClain just keeps getting better and better and we can only hope that this series isn’t the only project in the works for these two!

Book 2 in the Original Sin series continues to follow the turbulent growing romance between Maddie and Tyler as their lives just spin out of control and turn into total madness as Maddie tries to deal with a drug lord that's chasing her for money that she never even owed him in a bid to make her his. Loved it, not too keen on Maddie's character but love Tyler's crazy sense of humor and hilarious inner voice. The sex is hot, rough and raw, the story line is an interesting one and keeps you reading. Can't wait for the next one.

October 25, 2021Okay it's settled, this writer does not work for me. All the angst for no reason. I was expecting it to be darker, but it has all this "humor" that never lands for me. All these strange pop culture references thrown in, at inopportune moments. I do think the narrators are good.

Why would a so perceived king pin. Think the wedding planner owes him money. When his own daughter eloped with a different dude. After everything was paid for. Everyone knows that wedding venues and related services. Don't give any of the refund back. Unless they want too. A very few allow for a partial refund for death.

Maddie and Tyler’s journey started in Sin With Me and continues in Angel’s Fall and it takes a different tone; one of melancholy, loneliness as well as soul baring honesty and vulnerability. The heat and passion is still very much there yet this instalment felt more emotional and heart breaking at times. The character development was evident in their growth through the discoveries and self-realisations made. Without question; the storyline in Angel’s Fall is quite emotional and gritty however for all that is dark the light easily balances it out through comical situations, bang on humour and laugh out loud banter. Perfection.
‘He’s still totally Tyler. Which means unstable. And unpredictable. And as uncertain as an uncertain future can be. And I have to guard my heart, I don’t want to. But I have to. Because I won’t be broken again. I won’t let it happen. I’ve had enough tragedy and heartbreak for this lifetime.’
Maddie comes into her own in this book, showing her sassiness, her strength and control. However, whilst at times she exercises her ‘poor me’ attitude a bit too much, she truly does reveal what’s hidden under that suit of armour she shields herself in. Her vulnerability and loneliness is apparent as is her inner most wish to be needed, wanted and ultimately loved.
‘I owe Maddie Clayton. And whatever I have to do to, whatever price I have to pay, mountain I have to climb, or dragon I have to slay to show her that I’m worthy of having this chance to make it right between us, bet your fucking ass that I will do all that it takes and then some.’
Tyler still makes us laugh, he makes our hearts hurt and he makes us incredibly hot and bothered. His mouth has no filter and we love this about him. Dirty filthy honest and kind. He’s a contradiction that we just can’t help but fall in love with. His soul is damaged but it recognises friendship and love despite his persona appearing raw and proper effed up.
‘Whatever I have to do to see to it that she is safe, and happy, and free from pain, I will do. Whatever it takes. Whatever the cost. I will suffer for her, if there must be suffering. It will be a privilege.’
Angel’s Fall had such depth and once again the writing and story development was flawless. This author combo is one of the best ones we’ve read and their POV completely complement each other’s. Maddie and Tyler are made to be; they are two halves of a whole, their damaged souls seeking and finding something in each other, giving the other a purpose, fulfilling a need and shouldering a burden that weighs so heavily. We have become so intensely invested in these characters and their story we cannot wait for the next instalment.

Once again… I don’t know if I like this or truly disliked it. This one had some truly cringe-worthy moments, more so from Tyler’s character. The way he thinks and speaks genuinely makes me groan out loud.
But, like a bad accident, I seriously cannot stop myself from reading.
I’ve said it before too, the one thing that can make or break an audiobook is the narrator(s). I may not love the dialogue (internal or external) at all times, but these two narrators are giving Maddie and Tyler excellent voices so, if anything’s keeping me engaged in this series I’d chalk it up to them!
But, like a bad accident, I seriously cannot stop myself from reading.

Whew, that was quite a ride! Angels Fall, the second installment in J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain’s Original Sin Series is a super sexy, emotional roller coaster.
Maddie and Tyler continue to struggle with their inner demons and each other. Tyler, however, is enlisting not only what he learned in Nepal from his Rinpoche but also the sage advice of Pete, the owner of the strip club where Maddie works (and a sort of surrogate father figure to both Maddie and Tyler), and helpful hints from Raven, the aging stripper turned manager with a heart of gold. These secondary characters add both depth and meaning to the story. I loved the relationship that Tyler forges with Pete, and that he wins over Raven.
Tyler keeps reaching out to Maddie in more and more meaningful ways, and eventually she pushes back less hard. That girl needs some shaking up. She is stuck. Her life sucks and she can’t seem to do anything to correct it...mainly because she can’t let go and trust some people around her to help her out of her jam.
The dialogue is fantastic. Tyler’s verbal diarrhea and inner monologues are endearing. Maddie continues to be in need of a bear hug and a slap to the face to shock her out of her funk. I loved that everyone but Maddie perceived her as strong. The small, meaningful details that the authors have included punctuate the imminent changes in the characters and the direction of the story. Are Tyler and Maddie each other’s salvation or their ruination? The dramatic and emotionally charged ending left me hanging on a cliff by the tips of two fingers. Call an EMT, I think I’m in V-Fib (but tell them to bring the next installment of the series instead of the paddles)!

Two books in to the Original Sin series, I'm totally on board with this brand new writing duo. I've been a big fan of Julie Huss' for years now, but this series is her first foray into co-authoring, so I didn't know how it would go. You know? I think I can safely say at this point that I love the work that she's putting out in partnership with actor and audiobook narrator Johnathan McClain. It feels like a JA Huss book, but yet it has a slightly different flavor and voice, which, I think, really is enhancing this reading experience.
Since this is the second book in a four-book series, and a lot of the events in book two are a continuation of things that started in book one, I can't go into a lot of detail about what happened. However, here's what I CAN say...
#RelationshipGoals
In the beginning of Angels Fall, Maddie and Tyler had an insurmountable gulf to overcome if they were to have any sort of relationship. They were also in two very different places as to their future goals - Tyler was all in. He was going after Maddie full boar and was not going to take no for an answer. Maddie, however, wanted nothing to do with Tyler and was sure she could never get over her anger and disappointment in him. However, Tyler's persistence and Maddie's acceptance of things that can't be changed made huge strides, and toward the end of this book, we saw them finally moving in the right direction, which made my heart so freaking happy.
Angry Sex (... and Make-up Sex... and Kinky Sex... and Tunnel Sex... and...)
Maddie hating Tyler for a period of time during this book didn't put any damper on their sex. Like, AT ALL. I was cool with that, because it proved that, even though they were not in a good place, there was still all this passion between them, and that's a start. Even the super angry sex signified hope to me, because if Maddie truly didn't want anything to do with Tyler, I have every confidence, she would've put him in his place and moved on. Instead, they took out their frustrations and their sadness and their love and their anger on each other, and it made for some incredibly awesome reading.
Revisiting the Past
The big focal point of Angels Fall is rehashing what happened to Scotty and how it affected Maddie and Tyler, both individually, and now as a couple. We heard Tyler's account of the events in book 1, and in book 2, we get Maddie's perspective. We get to see the healing affect it has on both of them. Even before Maddie talks to Tyler about it all, we see her taking steps to get past the tragedy - steps she should've taken a long time ago. But, it's in these actions that we can see that, even though she's still incredibly mad at Tyler, his influence in her life now is a positive one. The character growth that the authors have injected into Maddie and Tyler is incredibly satisfying and very well done.
Hope in the Face of Tragedy
Despite Maddie and Tyler getting to a hesitantly good place together by the end of Angels Fall, there's no doubt that there's still plenty of bad stuff swirling around them - particularly Maddie. Drug lord Carlos Castillo still wants his money, and his henchman Logan is wanting a little extra punishment on the side. Both Maddie and Tyler have been so despondent in their lives lately, to the point of each of them contemplating suicide. But, the reconnecting that Maddie starts and the healing that Tyler starts gives them the desire to finally start fighting back. There are some events at the end of Angels Fall that dramatically affect them, and now there is a fire lit beneath them that will carry into book 3. Carlos and Logan better watch out...

Angels Fall
is the second book in the Original Sin series by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain. We come back to Maddie and Tyler’s story immediately after Sin With Me ends. Both characters are struggling with their past actions that internally translate to personal fails. In my opinion, they aren’t fails but actions that humans take to protect others then continually second-guess the decision for one reason or another.
With Angels Fall , Huss and McClain continue to tell a terrific story of growth, seduction, romance, suspense, mystery, love, and friendship. The characters are so compelling with personalities that jump off the page. Both characters are searching for ways to make wrongs right while learning to admit their individual mistakes. I love it!
Tyler is gradually dealing with his PTSD and love for Maddie. There are some very touching moments especially when he runs into someone from the past. I love how he grows enough to look at what Maddie needs before his own. Let me say that Evan and Robert are two of my favorite ancillary characters. They step up every time that Tyler needs a friend. I love these two to death.
Maddie is in so much pain. In Angels Fall we learn a little more about why she suffers so much after Scotty’s death. It breaks my heart when she shares with Tyler. I feel both her Tyler’s sorrow and loss more than I expected. I love this character so much. She acts out of control sometimes and doesn’t think through some decisions, but underneath it all, she is reliable, loving, and compelling. Like Tyler, there is a huge heart that wins more often than not. I love her fight and strength that gets stronger as the story progresses.
I love bad guys who are so bad that there isn’t any option but to hate them. Huss and McClain do an excellent job bringing out the worse of the bad guy elements in Carlos and make him a super evil man that I hate. I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for him to get his comeuppance. I hope Logan is included in that punishment too.
As I write this review, I want you to know how much Tyler and Maddie’s story touches my heart. Angels Fall continues this tremendously moving series. The story runs the gamut from funny to painfully emotional, and that ending made me break down and cry. Julie and Johnathan are an excellent writing team. It is apparent that they get each other and develop the characters appropriately to complement the talents of both authors.
Angels Fall ends with a killer cliffhanger. Have no fear, the story picks up again in three weeks with Flesh Into Fire —that title gives me a moment of panic. Anyone can deal with cliffhangers for three weeks especially when the promise of more goodness is right around the corner. Huss/McClain well done; another must read—like ASAP. Come on April 17th. On final comment, anyone who loves audio books, the audio for Sin With Me is one of the best I've heard lately. I can't wait to get Angels Fall to hear these characters come to life.

So, I'm trying to figure out how to put my thoughts into words and describe how I felt reading this second book in the series. It starts right where we left off in book 1, Sin With Me, so if you haven't read that yet, stop now and go do that first.
One of the first things I have to say about Maddie is she has a lot more lady balls than she does common sense this go-around. Or perhaps it is really just because she is SO tired of trying to climb that mountain, and she's fed up, and disgusted, has nothing but bad luck, and she's finally getting some really good dick only to find out who Tyler is. Talk about mindfuck!!
Tyler...is still Tyler. But he's kind of like Tyler 2.0 after acting like a phoenix and rising from the ashes. He's "seen the light" as they say, and he's bound and determined to be there for Maddie in whatever capacity she needs. So he does some stuff to prove to her that he is remorseful for skipping out on the family unit for the past dozen years and is in it for the long haul. And he's still a fucking witty guy, everybody says so. They say some other things about him too, like he's a super vulnerable and sensitive motherfucker, and he is, finally letting some of those block walls he's built around his heart down a little. Yay, Dr. Eldridge!! Or maybe it was James Franco....the jury is still out for me.
The whole Carlos Castillo situation has escalated, with him changing his strategy of just how he's going to collect what Maddie owes him. But what the hell?? She doesn't even owe him the money!! I guess he wouldn't be at the head of his cartel if he didn't make the rules and take what he wants, right? And his minions are doing the dirty work of sending Maddie reminders that he fully plans to collect, one way or the other. There's only so far you can push someone, poke the tiger so to speak, before they snap back. Oh, Maddie, I am SO waiting to see you snap back!
Julie has always been the queen of writing the sexy times, but her and Johnathan together? Shit just ramped up on the sexy meter tenfold! I am having the best time living vicariously through Maddie and Tyler, because I can tell you right now, if the hubby and I tried any of the things these two do, we'd both end up in traction in the hospital! But it would probably be SO worth it!
The sexy times and the suspense of wondering what's going to happen with Carlos and that whole mess kept me captivated with this story, but the emotional aspect really came to the forefront in this installment. Maddie has been struggling for so long, basically pushing everyone away from her since Scotty died. And Tyler has pretty much been doing that for even longer, since he joined the military. He used the excuse that he's been busy seeing the world and all that jazz, but really that has just been a smokescreen for the reality that he just didn't know how to "be" Tyler, a friend, brother to Scotty and Evan, just a guy who has friends and extended family who love him, who would never treat him the way his father has. And now that Maddie and Tyler actually know that they are Maddie and Tyler, and not Ford and Scarlett, it was a revelation for them both to discover how "good" they feel when they are together, how they each bring the other peace and happiness. Now if they can just figure out the way forward from here. Sure, the sex is great, but now to figure out how to just "be" together.
Not gonna lie, the ending of this book tore my heart right out. I sat with tears in my eyes, yelling, "Why?? Why would you do that???" But it was the catalyst that lit the fire under Maddie, no pun intended. Shit's gonna get real in the next book, and I can't wait!!
One of the first things I have to say about Maddie is she has a lot more lady balls than she does common sense this go-around. Or perhaps it is really just because she is SO tired of trying to climb that mountain, and she's fed up, and disgusted, has nothing but bad luck, and she's finally getting some really good dick only to find out who Tyler is. Talk about mindfuck!!
Tyler...is still Tyler. But he's kind of like Tyler 2.0 after acting like a phoenix and rising from the ashes. He's "seen the light" as they say, and he's bound and determined to be there for Maddie in whatever capacity she needs. So he does some stuff to prove to her that he is remorseful for skipping out on the family unit for the past dozen years and is in it for the long haul. And he's still a fucking witty guy, everybody says so. They say some other things about him too, like he's a super vulnerable and sensitive motherfucker, and he is, finally letting some of those block walls he's built around his heart down a little. Yay, Dr. Eldridge!! Or maybe it was James Franco....the jury is still out for me.
The whole Carlos Castillo situation has escalated, with him changing his strategy of just how he's going to collect what Maddie owes him. But what the hell?? She doesn't even owe him the money!! I guess he wouldn't be at the head of his cartel if he didn't make the rules and take what he wants, right? And his minions are doing the dirty work of sending Maddie reminders that he fully plans to collect, one way or the other. There's only so far you can push someone, poke the tiger so to speak, before they snap back. Oh, Maddie, I am SO waiting to see you snap back!
Julie has always been the queen of writing the sexy times, but her and Johnathan together? Shit just ramped up on the sexy meter tenfold! I am having the best time living vicariously through Maddie and Tyler, because I can tell you right now, if the hubby and I tried any of the things these two do, we'd both end up in traction in the hospital! But it would probably be SO worth it!
The sexy times and the suspense of wondering what's going to happen with Carlos and that whole mess kept me captivated with this story, but the emotional aspect really came to the forefront in this installment. Maddie has been struggling for so long, basically pushing everyone away from her since Scotty died. And Tyler has pretty much been doing that for even longer, since he joined the military. He used the excuse that he's been busy seeing the world and all that jazz, but really that has just been a smokescreen for the reality that he just didn't know how to "be" Tyler, a friend, brother to Scotty and Evan, just a guy who has friends and extended family who love him, who would never treat him the way his father has. And now that Maddie and Tyler actually know that they are Maddie and Tyler, and not Ford and Scarlett, it was a revelation for them both to discover how "good" they feel when they are together, how they each bring the other peace and happiness. Now if they can just figure out the way forward from here. Sure, the sex is great, but now to figure out how to just "be" together.
Not gonna lie, the ending of this book tore my heart right out. I sat with tears in my eyes, yelling, "Why?? Why would you do that???" But it was the catalyst that lit the fire under Maddie, no pun intended. Shit's gonna get real in the next book, and I can't wait!!

Book 2 of a hilarious, sexy, and strangely touching series. Love the way Tyler is written. I appreciate the incorporation of trauma into the narrative.

That. Ending! Holy smokes, those last couple of chapters... oh, they were INTENSE! This book absolutely ended with my jaw hanging wide open and my heart pounding like a caged tiger begging to be set free. And I know I shouldn’t be surprised at all with what happened there—I swear, with these two authors, anything freaking goes—but I still didn’t see that coming.
After getting one helluva a cliffhanger from Sin With Me, co-authors J. A. Huss and Johnathan McClain bring us back to the heart of Las Vegas with an even raunchier and crazier ride than ever. We’re shown more bits and pieces of what truly happened in the past and how Tyler and Maddie tried to mend their friendship, relationship and broken hearts.
Reading this book will make you feel unhinged in the best way possible. Being inside Tyler Hudson Morgan’s head? It’s beyond fascinating and terrifying all at the same time. It’s going to make you crack up and cringe and giggle—because the guy has absolutely no filter at all—but at the end of the day, he’s still one of the kindest, most charming heroes with the biggest heart ever. And underneath all of that humor and insanity were just emotions that were so deep they will blindside and knock you right in the gut.
Angels Fall might’ve not engrossed nor drew me in as much as the first book did, but those last few chapters were certainly the boost I needed. Yes, it was steamy and filled with passion, but I was still craving for more of those moments that would sucker punch and hit me hard. Thankfully, it was all there, served in one big silver platter, towards the end.
And while this didn’t have as much action and suspense as I would’ve wanted for the next book in Tyler and Maddie’s story, I’m just absolutely falling in love with the writing style of this author duo. There’s something about it that’s so compelling and is truly a breath of fresh air. It’s captivating in a very unique way. Trust me—when you read this book, this series, you’ll know what I mean right off the bat.

So, yeah. Well, this is intense. Again. I don't know how else to describe it. Intense is the best word here.
Maddie and Tyler are totally fucked up, right? And you already know that, but you can't stop reading this story. You just can't. Because these two characters who are flawed in more ways than I can count are the ultimate push and pull, love and hate, friends and enemies kind of story.
Picking up where Sin With Me ends, we know Tyler did some crazy, fucked up shit. We know Maddie is pissed beyond reason at Tyler.
We know that both are in some crazy shit.
And it's there that I leave you with the 'what the fucks' and the 'holy shits' and the 'no that didn't just happen' because that's just the kind of book this is.
Another crazy, fucked up story about two people who are so star-crossed, yet perfect for each other.
Tyler finally--FINALLY--pulls his head out of his ass. Maddie stops fighting life. Things start to look like they're on the right path.
Then, BOOM. Like, literally because that's just he way JA Huss and Johnathan McClain write. Just when you think it's all sunshine and rainbows, it's not. Not even close.
But then again, did we really expect sunshine and rainbows? Maddie owes that Carlos guy. Tyler is all crazy. Why did I get comfy?
Do we even have to talk about the sex? Should I? I should, but I won't. It isn't the point of the book. I mean, it's fantastic and it's hot and there are some scenes that will just live with you long after you close the book, but that's not why Maddie and Tyler are worth reading. Granted, they have absolutely ZERO problems in the bedroom--or bathroom, car, alley, hotel, Hoover Dam--and that is always fun to read, so yeah, if you want that out of a book, this is good for that too. But it's also good for THE STORY.
Because Tyler and Maddie have some serious demons that need handled. And I think they're only getting started.

Book 2 - starts right where we left off in Sin With Me...so spoiler alert...read book one first...
Maddie's been taken by Carlos because that crazy mofo wants Maddie to return the money he lost when his daughter called off the wedding. This Carlos guy is CRA CRA.
Once again, JA Huss and Jonathan McClain have given us a fast-paced, suspenseful, friends-to-lovers, brother's best friend book that also has some serious comic relief. The writing between these two authors is perfection because they obviously play off each other well that they can have all of the above mentioned and it melds together flawlessly.
Maddie, again, deserves the honor of being called a bad ass mofo, this girl - she takes shit from NO ONE. And Tyler, well, he's beginning to come around, he's allowing the cement walls he's erected around himself fall a bit, allowing other to see who he really is.
Being taken by a mob boss, remembering the death of your brother and best friend, hot crazy sex - these aren't things you might find yourself worthy of a rom-com, but let me tell you - JA & Jonathan did just that. I was giggling to outright cackling at parts then crying my eyes out at the end. They once again left me with a freaking book hangover and a cliffhanger. The wait is short and with being worthy of our anticipation I am sure.

The continuation of the story originated in Sin With Me.
There were some interesting revelations at the end of Sin With Me, and in Angels Fall we see some of the fallout. Tyler takes an interesting approach – he actually hangs back and waits to be needed, which is totally a first for him. But can he figure out when he has waited long enough and to step up?
And Maddie – when will she finally ask for the help that others so desperately want to give to her? When will she realize that she has no control over some things?
I enjoyed this part of the story, but not as much as the first book. But that is okay – they are setting the stage for what comes next. And the “fun times” are off the charts. So technically, I give this 4.5 stars. And I can’t wait to find out what happens next…..

The romantic connection between Tyler and Maddie is something old and something new. Once upon a time, they meant something to each other and then tragedy tainted their connection, mistakes were made and they both carry a good deal of anger and hurt. Shocked to discover they're suddenly in each others lives again, they struggle to find forgiveness and understanding.
These MCs are real. Flawed and scarred, but not broken. They are witty and funny and sarcastic. They are hard and jaded and vulnerable, and you can't help but compare their new love connection to a slow-burning incendiary device. Will it annihilate them or become the phoenix rising from the ashes ?
I'm really rooting for life to give these two a much deserved break, but the authors aren't through toying with our emotions yet, so I'm strapped in for book 3. If that cliffie at the end is any indication your probably gonna need a shoulder harness and a lap belt!

Maddie's stubbornness and "I'll figure this out on my own" attitude is getting in the way of any chance of happiness she may find. Tyler is convinced that they were put in each other's path to help right the wrongs of the past and he is determined to find a way to show Maddie they belong together. The chemistry they share is scorching hot. Tyler's wicked sense of humor and inner monologues make for many LOL moments.
Together they revisit the cause of the deepest pain for both of them which ultimately brings the pair closer. However the special connection and joy they find is short lived when danger and more heartache is forced on their front door.
Julie and Johnathan have perfected the art of the cliffhanger and the anticipation for Flesh Into Fire (book#3) couldn't be greater.

Another great read by the talented writing duo!!
I don’t even know where to start. Angels Fall picked up exactly where Sin With Me left us hanging. Maddie’s on her way to see Carlos and Tyler’s in a room full of flames. Now you have to read to find out exactly what happens.
We see so much growth with Maddie and Tyler as individuals and together. So much has changed for the better and worse. Maddie sinks even lower. Her depression becoming worse and her stubbornness getting the better part of her is not helping. We also see Maddie becoming strong. In her hopelessness we start seeing her find light in the darkness and I’m loving this new Maddie.
Tyler is something else. He’s strong willed and not easily deterred. Which can be annoying or downright swoon worthy depending on which situation we’re talking about. I love how he’s grown. He has come so far. He still has his flaws though and some of his inner monologue can be confusing at times.
Overall this book was a rainstorm on a dry summer day. Refreshing, wet, dark and satisfying. Leaving you panting for more from the heat that you just experienced. J.A. Huss never disappoints me and Johnathan McClain is quickly becoming a new favorite.

Tyler & Maddie
“Finally, after the price is paid, and the fire that drives us all forward is extinguished, we finally get to rest.”
These two are so messed up, but the story isn’t a heavy one full of poor me. Again, inner monologue is a huge part of these books and it works. Banter and witty commentary from both is entertaining.
I love Tyler’s character, as he’s slowly waking up to the world around him again with Maddie. Finding the balance between support and racing in and fixing things for her remains difficult for him.
More depth and backstory this time, ending with a mini-cliffhanger.

OMG where do i start with how much i enjoyed this one, Julie and Johnathan have done so well writing this together, After the ending of book 1 i couldn't wait to start this, This was so much more than i expected, There story is getting so so good and i need more i have to know what happens next. This really is a must read. I can't wait for book 3.
