Homeless Addict Woos Insecure Divorcee: Who's Rehabilitating Who?

Recovering heroin addict, Angel, walks into Pine Bluff, Alabama to meet up with an old friend. But what he finds on his journey is a new romantic partner, Maggie. In this lovely addition to the Pine Bluff series, Angel and Maggie rehabilitate each other.

Nancee Cain's experience in the addiction field shines through in this story. Angel's family problems and resulting low self-worth are heartbreaking. His mother's eating disorder and his father's cold criticism contributed to his risk for addiction. When Angel first meets Maggie and she questions if he has stolen from her, his hangdog resignation made me cry. But Maggie looks beneath his hopeless, scruffy facade to see his inner strength and talent.

I have trouble understanding the attraction young women have for much older men, but I find the age difference between Angel and Maggie to be refreshing. Fourteen years older than Angel, Maggie dances to Rick James' "Super Freak" and bakes delicious goodies as she tries to get her bed and breakfast off the ground. Angel helps her mission by becoming her handyman, and boy is he ever handy. Although Angel is wise beyond his years, he enjoys professing himself as her boy toy.

At first, Maggie believes that Angel's friend, Emma, is his girlfriend, turning her green with envy:

Maybe she'd break one of her long, Barbie legs. Maggie didn't wish her anything too serious or harmful, just a fracture that would leave her totally immobilized. She'd even make her a cake and wish her a speedy recovery. Then, with luck, this Emma would gain thirty pounds.

Angel is a masterful artist and his guestbook full of sketches of scenes from around the inn is quite the thoughtful gift he gives to Maggie. I'm such a rule follower that Angel's secret habit of spray-painting graffiti made me uncomfortable, but his "writing" has realistic consequences.

Like most women, Maggie has negative body image, which frustrates Angel.

"Maggie, when will you believe me when I say you're beautiful?"

"I'm not twenty-five," she replied. "I need to lose ten pounds--"

"Hush."

He placed a hand over her mouth. "Don't talk about the woman I'm crazy about like that. It pisses me off, because she's perfect as is."

It's like Angel is the first man to really see Maggie, as a smart, competent, sexy woman. Maybe Maggie can grow to see herself that way as well?

"Maggie? Who takes care of you?"

"Me?" She pulled away. "I don't understand what you mean."

"I bet you took care of your dad. I know you catered to Brian and Phillip. Who has ever taken care of you?"

"I'm f-fine. I can take care of myself."

"I know you can. But what if I want to take care of you? Would you trust me enough to let me?"

Wow, every woman needs an Angel in her life. Maggie is drawn to caring for Angel's wounded soul, and Angel is drawn to building Maggie's faltering confidence, but both realize that they have to be whole in their own right to make this romance work.

We get to meet the hero of the next book in the series: Angel's estranged older brother, Damien. Damien is a ruthless attorney who likes to play violin on the roof (in particular, one of my favorite songs--"Meditation" from Thais). Damien tries to dissuade Maggie from loving his addict brother, but Maggie tells him off. I look forward to learning more about this complex character and his future love interest!

Each unique story in this series gets stronger and deeper. Highly recommended!

I love all the stories Nancee cain writes and every time each story gets better than the last one.

The story touches lots of situations that, from the POV of some close-minded people, just can't happen. In my opinion the most important message here is: TRUST. TRUTH and BELIEVING IN YOURSELF.

Two people, too much baggage, too different. Angel and Maggie find themselves in a perfect working relationship and fall into an imperfect romance - but oh how sweet it is. Full of doubt and misunderstanding and a lot of angst, they try to climb their hurdles together, but some demons you have to slay by yourself.

Nancee Cain crafted a well thought out and absolutely moving story. Although I love her writing, I wasn’t convinced that this story was going to appeal to me - I didn’t count on my knees buckling, my toes curling, and my breath taken away. I should have known better.

I could not put this book down! This was an amazing emotional book. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with Angel. Nancee took a difficult subject and turned it into a beautiful uplifting story. All the things Angel overcame are things that many people go through and sadly don't get their happily ever after. Then Maggie overcoming all her insecurities from her past as well and that was also very uplifting. The best part of this book was how real it felt the main characters struggled in their relationship and never once thought it was going to be easy overcoming their insecurities and pasts. I cannot wait to read more from this series!! I need the next book now I just love all these characters and I want their stories too😀

Once again Nancee Cain's characters come to life in her 3rd Pine Bluff novel. Angel Sinclair is a recovering addict and by chance, finds Maggie Robertson at just the right time in his life. Their story brings two vulnerable people together to each find the part that has been missing, making them whole. I loved this novel and look forward to the next book in the series.

This was my first book by Nancee Cain, but it definitely won't be the last! The characters are really relatable and real, while the writing was so well done it draws you in until you feel equally invested in their journey throughout the story. By far one of the best reads for me so far this year. Beautifully done, Ms Cain!

By far the best I’ve read by Cain. Realistically relatable, she provides an in depth connection to both Angel and Maggie. We also see a glimpse at Damien and previous characters from Pine Bluff.

There are addiction triggers but nothing graphic.

Maggie has insecurities that she has to work at to overcome, while Angel battles demons of the past while keeping current demons at bay, for a chance at a better life.

The Rehabilitation of Angel Sinclair is Amazing.
Angel is a recovering addict. Intent on making amends.
Maggie is a divorcee intent on making her Inn a success.
There are obstacles they must overcome , their own demons make themselves know from time to time, but they want to make this work.
These characters are well written and real.
I recommend this story to all .

Graffiti artist Angel Sinclair plans to hit Pine Bluff, make amends and move on… until he meets Maggie Robertson. The chemistry between them is as combustible as one of his cannons. They say opposites attract, but secrets from the past might doom this couple, even if it's written on the wall.

“She completed him, filling in the gaps of his imperfections. All he wanted was to love her, care for her, comfort her and laugh with her for the rest of his life.”

An authentic tale about living life on life’s terms, and the acceptance of the perfectly imperfect parts of that life. The Rehabilitation of Angel Sinclair is a relatably raw story of two flawed individuals each dealing with their own broken. This is a story about addiction and amends, yet it is so, so, so much more. It’s a poignant telling of forgiveness and hope. Forgiveness of the past, forgiveness of one another, and most importantly the forgiveness of yourself. Angel Sinclair and Maggie Robertson find themselves both at a crossroads, and neither know which direction to head.

In the third book of the Pine Bluff Series, Ms Cain does an impeccable job of giving us wonderfully layered characters that I dare you to not fall for. This journey is yet another beautiful affirmation that none of us are the sum of our past mistakes. I adored every second of this read and it gave me all the feels. I have loved this series, but this book is by far my favorite. This is absolutely a must read. This is a series I will personally reread many times over.

“He wanted to settle down. Weird. He’d spent a third of his life running away, and now he wanted roots. Life really did go in circles.”:

Once you open this book, you will not want to put it down!! LOL This story is about Angel, who is a recovering addict. And he just may become your new book boyfriend, he is such a good guy!!
He comes to Pine Bluff, Alabama, and it's fantastic that he does. For this is where he meets Maggie, who also is dealing with her own issues....a bitter divorce. They are both looking for a new start, and I love that they find it in each other!!!
At first glance one could say they are opposites in many ways, but you know what.......as time goes on, I'm sure you will agree with me that you couldn't see them with anyone else!!! They are SO good together!
Nancee Cain has written such a heartwarming book, and I LOVED it so much I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to everyone!!!! <3

Like its predecessors, this third Pine Bluff novel is beautifully written in a style that pulls the reader into the story. Nancee Cain not only weaves a fabulous tale, she runs the gamut of emotions with her characters, and the beauty of it is I didn't feel like a spectator - I felt Angel's struggle with his addiction as well as Maggie's trust issues. I felt the chemistry between them as Maggie worked through her problem with the age difference and Angel pushed without being pushy. I also love that the author sprinkles the story with some well-timed wit and humor to keep it just this side of too heavy. To sum it up, I smiled, I laughed, I got mad, I even shed a tear with this impossible to put down story of clawing your way back to a life with meaning and purpose, and finding that meaning when you least expect it. Another winner in a series of winners.

The Rehabilitation of Angel Sinclair is the third book in the Pine Bluff series by Nancee Cain. They each stand on their own, however. This story, about Angel Sinclair, tells of second chances and what life has to offer when you forgive yourself and take a leap of faith. Angel is a former addict with a penchant for writing graffiti. Maggie is a shy, divorced woman who takes a chance on him, without judgment. They share a beautiful story and give readers a lesson we can all heed. If you'd like a bit of Angelitis, pick up a copy.

A wonderful story about second chances for 2 people have gone thru so much in their lives and what they do to bring their lives together in hopes of being healthy and happy. Life is difficult but not matter what each person goes thru, it can bring them together in heart , soul and mind. Another 5 star book for Nancee Cain and I would give more if I could. I'm excited about the next book in this series

Who is Angel Sinclair?
Homeless?
Addict?
Adrenaline Junkie?
Law Breaker?
Rebel?
All these have been used to describe Angel at one time, but nobody actually has taken the time to know and understand just WHO Angel Sinclair is. The only people who have come close are his best friends Ken and Emma. But now Ken is dead and Emma is married with a life of her and Angel is left to deal with his clean lifestyle and make amends on his own. Everyday is a struggle for him to keep to his clean lifestyle and not just give in to the mind numbing euphoria the drunks offer him.

Maggie Robertson is recently divorced and trying to make a quite living outside of Pine Bluff with her Bed and Breakfast. Living with an alcoholic father and then a verbally abusive husband has left Maggie a bit broke and down and a non-existing self-confidence. However, hiring the young tattooed Angel Sinclair she's about to learn that she's got more to offer if she is only willing to open herself up live.
But living with one addict she knows the struggles for both the addict and their loved ones. Can she trust Angel to stay clean even when past demons come back to haunt him? Is she finally going to overcome the excuse of age between them and give in to the attraction?

Angel's story is absolutely heartbreaking. Living the life his family led left him with nowhere to turn when he needed the most help. My heart broke for him and the way he decided to numb the pain of his childhood trauma and the oblivious nature of his family. But with the love of a good woman, Angel can finally see that his life means more and there is more to life than just flying through in the high of drugs and oblivion.

Angel Sinclair arrives in Pine Bluff to make amends with Emma, becomes lost and stops at Maggie Robertson's for directions. The reader soon realizes that Angel is lost in other ways as well- a recovering heroin addict, a young man estranged from his family and homeless, a graffiti artist who's been arrested , jailed and stabbed. Maggie also is lost- lonely and bitter from a cheating ex-husband. This chance encounter becomes an instant attraction and soon develops into an unexpected romance. The story unfolds beautifully as both Angel and Maggie work through their past demons. The novel really shines with the empathic descriptions of Angel's addiction-although troubled and not perfect he is so likable you can't help rooting for him and wishing he doesn't relapse. The book has everything- humor, sadness, struggles, a scandalous relationship between a young man and older woman. There is some adult language and scenes but it adds to the story. I highly recommend this series, each one although stands alone brings us back to the small town of Pine Bluff and familiar characters weave their way into the story. Heartfelt and inspirational I couldn't put it down.

This book can tug at your heart strings in a few ways while inspiring you to be a better person. It's easy to forgive others but forgiving yourself that's a whole other story, because no one is harder on you than you. I love how this book captures that struggle, you wont regret reading this book.

We are introduced to Angel in Emma's book. He has saved her and loved her as his little sister, but his addiction has continued to be a factor. His addiction has caused him a lot of problems. Now clean and sober he;s on his way to visit Emma when he stumbles across Maggie and the bed and breakfast. Maggie, new to town and recovering from a loveless marriage and a brutal divorce, has decided to renovate the big old house and start over. They have no idea how much they need the healing power they each have and crave. When his world is rocked he realizes she is not only his peace but his stabilizer. It's a great clean read with plenty of drama and well written. It's an emotional read and has plenty of conflict and life to keep you invested in these two. The author even adds info for people struggling with addictions and those who love them. Loved it

A heartfelt snd moving story about a troubled, recovering addict who has never felt worthy of happiness but meets and falls in love with a lonely, older woman who is trying to make a life for herself after an unhappy marriage and divorce. Maggie is a strong woman but trusting a man again doesn’t come easy to her and she struggles with her feelings for Angel.

My heart went out to Angel who is still facing his demons from his youth and the need to be seen and heard. He is a good man and Maggie can see this. Will she overcome her fear of trusting a man again, especially someone with a dark and troubled past as the man who has stolen her heart?

Another well written and beautiful story by Nancee Cain and worthy of 5+ stars!

Wow...what a breathtaking amazing ride of a book!!

Nancee has done it yet again!! This 3rd book is absolutely beautifully written!! I truely felt like I took on each of the characters and seen their viewpoints and felt their emotions. We all have our own demons to fight and she did an amazing job putting that ideal into a fictional reality. In a way she's allowed her readers to embrace a different perspective, to be empathetic, and to not judge a book by it's cover. We can all help each other overcome our dragons with a little time, love, patience, and trust! Two giant thumbs up!! Can't wait to dive into book 4!!!

This is the third book in this amazing series and is Angel and Maggie’s story. Angel is a former addict, and he is back in town to make amends with a friend, and move on with his life. Maggie is newly divorced and has turned her home into a B & B. She takes a chance on Angel without judgement, and they heal and overcome demons together. This is a beautifully written story which is heart-warming, and about forgiving yourself in order to moving on. I was totally enthralled throughout this poignant love story, and cannot wait to read more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.

Months ago I read Dylan’s story, and I just binged through David and Angel’s. I’ve loved every book in this series but there was just something extra special about the heart of an Angel. His heart was broken by many but not shattered beyond repair. It grew instantly to full captivity, simply starved by the neglect his life delt him. I wanted to hug him tight and tug on his dreads until he believed he was as worth it. When he knocked on her door because he was lost, his destiny was on the other side:

Wow. If you read the previous books in the series, you know Angel is an addict. What you don't expect reading this story is how truly hard getting clean and staying clean really is for an addict plus how tricky making amends is. This was truly an amazing story of recovery for Angel and Maggie. Maggie suffered alot of emotional abuse from her ex-husbsnd, which means she has lasting issues she as to overcome to find her happiness with Angel. Wow, definitely an amazing book, with a few twists I didn't see coming with the plot. Definitely worth a read.

I really liked that this book was very realistic in dealing with drug addictions. As someone who works in healthcare I have seen many books that are not realistic about people in recovery being able to break the habit easily when that is not the case at all. I really liked both main characters as both were broken and they both helped each other to heal. I also liked seeing the characters of previous books who also helped the characters in the healing process.

Angel Sinclair is a recovering addict and is trying to connect with an old friend and make amends. What he finds when he gets to Pine bluff he never expected to have. Maggie a divorced woman is trying to make a new start in Pine bluff by opening A bed and breakfast. There are so many opposites to them can they make love work? This book hit home for me because I've lived it.this is a great series and I am looking forward to the next one

Maggie and Angel both have dark pasts but together things seem better, now we just need them to see that. Maggie is starting her life over at 39, after a divorce from a jerk of a husband and Angel has some crappy things hidden in his past. Maggie needs a handyman and Angel is there. She's older than him and feels that he deserves someone better than her, but they're perfect for each other.

Another hauntingly beautiful story full of emotion, redemption and second chances. I loved the characters and their self discovery and journey not only that they went through themselves but with each other. Able to draw strength and courage from their relationship and love.

I'd say each of these books can be read on their own but I'd highly recommend you read them all! Not only are they brilliant but the mention of characters and their previous experiences flow together ♥️ these characeyrs became friends and family x

Addiction is very teal and those who beat their demons I salute you !!!

Maggie is revamping her B&B and is need of a handyman ,with a limited budget , she's thrilled when Angel comea along , all by fluke but destined none the less .

Maggi has next to no self esteem and Angel has his own set of issues so one would expect a whole lot of drama ....drama we did get but Angel and Maggie faced it togeter....they had a few hurdls to overcome like age difference , addiction,a son , a dying mother , a popous father , a douche ex and the list goes on but love will always prevail and they have each other and they have friends that get them through it , they're such beautiful people !

It's a difficult choice to say which one was my favourite because each story meant something to me .....

One thing that I took from this is that neber judge a book by its cover , we all make mistakes , we all deserve another chance, we all deserve compassion, understanding and grace not only to ourselves but to those around us as well ♥️

Nancee Cain is able to weave realistic issues into a story that touches all of the emotions. Her story shows that age isn't an important factor in whom we love. The will and need to fight for what brings you happiness is a strong theme in this book. I have all of the Pine Bluff series, but I have to limit myself to one a night. I have to sleep sometime. You can read them as a stand-alone. But I think you will enjoy them more if you read the series beginning to end.
