Once a met a boy and gave him my heart
But what if he never gives it back?

He’s our neighbors’ adopted son.
He’s quiet, brooding, hot.

And misunderstandings will tear us apart…

I loved reading about Jarett and Gigi in Bad Wolf but always felt like there was something missing to their stories. But now having read Bad Son it makes so much more sense and we finally get to seeing the history that they share. If you haven’t had the chance yet to read Bad Wold I would recommend reading this book Bad Son first only so that you don’t miss out on the journey and history that Jarett and Gigi share. But don’t stress if you have already read Bad Wolf cause you are still able to read this book without ruining the story.

Jo I have no idea where these ideas for the stories come from and I really do wish and hope that you never stop writing as your books are FAN-F**KING-TASTIC. Plus I’m really looking forward to reading Merc’s story xx

This is the prequel to Jo Raven's book "Bad Wolf" and I absolutely recommend reading the books in the right order. You get to know their story way better and might already fall in love.

Since this was a novella, it was a short, quick read that was very enjoyable. I liked the characters and their demons and soorws and can't wait to read Bad Wolf (again!) to see what I missed the first time :)

This short story makes me want to read more. I’ve liked what we’ve seen of Gigi in the Wildmen series. I feel sorry for Jarrett, he seems like he just wants a place to belong and people to belong to. Gigi seemed like she might be that for him, but life happened and that didn’t work out. I can’t wait to see them again when they are older.

I adore Jo's writing style and how she drags you into a story. She makes you invested in the characters and it is no different with Gigi and Jarret. Jarret holds your attention and makes your heart ache for him. Gigi grabs hold of you and drags you along on her journey as if your life depends on theirs (see invested). This book is a great prequel and explains the start of their relationship and how they broke each others hearts before they help heal each other in Bad wolf.

Merged review:

As always Jo sucks you into her story.

Jarret and Gigi are a great couple and reading about how they fell in love and then broke each others hearts brings a tear to the eye. Emotions are at the surface and Jarret especially gets a body choked up.

I really liked this story about Jarett and Gigi who are neighbours and jarett has been in the system since Connor died who was going to adopt him and jarett is a bad boy with tattoos and does some bad things and Gigi is bullied by some people and I like that Gigi is close with her brother merc but he has stuff going on like nightmares and not a big fan of Sebastian the lowes biological son. I like that jarett and Gigi become friends but she does most of the talking and Gigi has a crush on jarett. Gigi finds out that her family is moving again and hasn’t told jarett. Love Gigi and Sydney friendship in the book and I like that this ways a quick short read of friendship between a guy and girl. And I like that jarett mentions his parents and what happened to them and Gigi used to live in Destiny.

I have a huge lump in my throat and my eyes are full of tears. This prequel is amazingly simple. A pair of flawed characters with a flawed friendship ended up being an emotional ride that left me with the burning need for more. And what more can a reader ask after having this kind of visceral reaction to a book? Not much, for sure. But I have a feeling that the author has way more in store for Gigi and Jarrett. And I can't wait to start reading Bad Wolf to finally experiencing the rest of this story.

Audio book

This is a short novella that will start the series . This story will show two people that are looking for sometimes , not sure what they are looking for , is it protection , , a connection that is not explained.
Both Hero and heroine start off on an awkward connection, not realizing they are right for each other . Something happens that will put their connection to the test. It’s both their pride and insecurities.

Both Teddy Hamilton and Summer Roberts performance was fantastic. Their tones and voices were spot on , they pulled you into the story

I loved this little prequel to Bad Wolf. This is the story about how Jarett and Gigi met. Jo has a way of pulling you into her stories and not letting you go, and that’s what I love about her books! Even this little novella was laced with so much emotion that I was crying by the end! I would definitely read this story before I read Bad Wolf just so it helps you understand their backstory a bit better. Great work Jo! I anxiously await the release of your next book.

I loved this prequel to Bad Wolf and finding out more about how Jarrett and Gigi met.
I love how Jo Raven writes her stories and make the reader feel like you are actually with the characters feeling everything they do.
This was a very interesting start to a very brilliant story and flowed really well into Bad Wolf.
I love Jarrett and Gigi so much and their story will keep you gripped to your kindle.

This is the prequel to Bad Wolf. This book will help give more meaning and definition to parts of Bad Wolf. I read Bad Wolf first and then this prequel came out. I read Bad Son and then re-read Bad Wolf. It definitely removed some of the "cloudiness" I had with certain parts of Bad Wolf. I love reading Jo Raven. Definitely a 5 star!!

The novella gives some background info on Jarrett and Gigi. Of how they meet and what happened. You don’t have to read it before Bad Wolf but it helps with how it all started. Shows you that some bad boy/ good girl combo are meant to be together and are worth fighting for.

He is a good guy , just dealt with some bad stuff in life.

Slow start…
I don’t like how this is consider a ‘book’
Really it’s just an introduction
And while I’m excited to continue reading and find the outcome, I really can’t give it more then 3 stars
I woulda liked it better if Jerett had seen Gigi getting picked on and stopped it instead of it just being by happenstance

If you haven't read Bad Wolf yet, I'd advise you to wait and read this first. If you've already read Bad Wolf then your like me ... once again heartbroken over a fictional character. I CAN'T tell you more, cause if I do, then I'll just spill the whole story. JUST READ IT!

This is a really great prequel, it gives you a really good insight into why Jarret feels like he doesn't belong and the daily struggles that he has to fit in, Gigi seems to be strong for everyone when I truly believe she wants someone to be there for her.
Once again another great read by Jo!

bad luck to a son. Gigi has been bullied at school. Jarett has been adoptive by the neighbors. Gigi has been following Jarett home . Jarett is an angry guy who had bad luck and doesn't say much. This was a good start to a series. I like how we got to know them a little, and they always keep a part of themselves hidden.

Another good read although I did in parts feel like shaking our hero to stop with the self pity.
