She was a runaway from a cruel man who wanted to chase her and claim what he thought was his property. Who could know that finding shelter for the beautiful Daisy O'Malley in Jess Farthing's barn would lead to love?
The man swore to keep her safe and vowed that the person who did this to her would suffer. Through many shades of danger they made a team and it turned out to be Jess who needed her help on more than one occasion.
Neither of them would admit to falling love in case the partnership came to an end. Daisy had lost her family but the friends who came to her aid formed a strong and lasting bond. The story is about friendship and a love affair that steals the reader's heart along with a slight touch of the supernatural.
"Loving a Runaway Bride" is a historical western romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Aurora Hanson gets 4 STARS for her Living a Runaway Bride: A Historical Western Romance which is a well written, great storyline and very entertaining. Jess and Daisy's group that is made up of relatives and friends is a great one and one that reminds me of the Three Musketeers and their, ' All for One & One For All', attitude the group shares. Jess & Daisy have many different adventures that are just terrific to read about. This is really should be a 5 STARS book but because of how the Mikey Dennis situation was dealt with, not exactly 'the ending ' but the lack of information & explanation on why he chose Daisy and how he ended up where he does when we encounter him in the book. So much of the story throughout the book mentions him, even Daisy's sister is brought into the Mikey Dennis mess by actions at the rodeo. Finally, the mention of using new farming technology puts this book on the edge of characters looking for and striving for the future. Hopefully, books with this group's children in that future they are all building towards will be in this authors future therefore this reader. A must read. WARNING: 17 & UP SEX CONTENT - NOT REALLY
Loving a Runaway Bride was a book that had all of the features of a great historical western romance, without the stuff that makes you blush. It is a clean read that is well written.
Daisy O'Malley is running from an abusive fiance. She hides in the barn of Jess Farthing. Jess takes Daisy in and she begins to work on the farm and use her baking skills to make pies that the town loves. Jess introduces Daisy to his family and friends and soon Daisy is a part of this loving community. But when Jess and his family see the scars Daisy bares from her fiance, their heart is broken and they are determined to get justice for her. Daisy and Jess begin to prepare for a trip to try and find her fiance. When they arrive in her home town, her fiance has left town. Daisy and Jess return to the farm and begin to live their lives but Daisy in constantly in fear and Jess constantly works to protect her. Soon they begin to care for one another and fall in love. Jess is determined to help Daisy live a normal life without fear. When that threat comes closer than either had imagined, can he still protect her?
Though it's not the typical mail order bride book, this was next to impossible to put down. Daisy had more than her share of trouble following behind her no matter where she went. That she slept in the barn of a farmer while trying to escape from the malicious man who was chasing her down was nothing short of divine e intervention. How she creates a life for herself while giving so generously to those around her makes an extraordinarily good read. Thanks, Ms Hanson, for a great book.
Lovely, sweet read. Well written with no apparent mistakes. I did wonder about Daisy and Jess living together so openly and with out censure, even sleeping together, but everything turned out well in the end. The extended epilogue was a nice finishing touch. It was lovely to hear Ellen and Derek got their 'happy ever actor's, and the relationships between family and friends was really pleasant to read. I look forward to reading the authors future books.
Aurora Hanson has written a great book about a young lady's quest for love. Daisy is a woman who has run away to the west as a mail order bride only to find a bad man at the end of her journey. The plot has twists that keeps the reader intrigued from the start to the finish. I can't wait to read the next one!
This book was wonderful. I laughed, I cried and cheered on the great guys and ladies in this book. A great stand alone book but could easily become a series. A must read for those that enjoy a Western romance.
This was a good story I enjoyed the characters the storyline was easy to follow had to reread a few parts to understand but would recommend this author again. Looking forward to reading more
Loved this book by Aurora Hanson! Daisy and Jess had so much chemistry when they met! It's no wonder they ended up loving each other. Building a life in the farm. Also the rest of the family and friends, just made this an awesome story.
Daisy n Jess when in love but they didn't know that themselves! I love this book, it's clean n I couldn't stop reading it n I read that Jess n Dairy had twins a boy n a girl, Dairy was running for Mikey Dennis n ran into love!
"Loving a Runaway Bride" by Aurora Hanson I truly enjoyed this story. I did get a bit antsy, wanting the story to speed along a bit faster, but at the same time I did not want to miss any of the story as it unfolded. It was a sweet clean romance read. Happy Reading !!
What a lovely story! I enjoyed reading about the old west as Daisy overcame so many hurts and troubles to find her HEA! Made me a bit tired to read of all the work she cheerfully did on the farm! Couldn't put the book down! Great read!
This was such a good book, I could hardly put it down. The friendships were priceless. The way everyone pulled together to take care of Daisy. They didn't know her at all but, that didn't stop them from being there for her and supporting her in her time of need. The people of the town were so loving and supportive of all the different projects that the friends did together that they could not have failed at any of them. I don't think the town would have allowed it to happen. The idea of the harvested and the threshing machines was genius. They were able to improve their crops and enlarge them as well as increase their incomes for each of the partners. The idea that the person that had frightened Daisy so much could still be after her was a frightening thing to go through for anyone. But, when you have someone like Jess in your life that loves you so much and would lay down his life for you plus the whole town, well you are blessed beyond measure. I loved this book. I could hardly put it down.
A lovely cowboy romance where you just have to cheer for the pair to find their HEA. Well written book with great storyline, subplots and plot. A sweet book that has great romance. The story is true to it's time period and the language is also. I like when an author has made research about the time period they want to write the story in. Sometimes it was a very heavy read but absolutely worth the time.
The story just caught me and I felt I was there in the story. The characters are so real and likeable.
There is drama, family issues, passion, emotions and some twists. Instant attraction. I like the supporting characters.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another story of Emerald Falls. It was definitely fun to revisit the characters of "Home to find Love." bu Ms. Hanson. The story in itself was simple, but with a twist. A woman comes to the West as a Mail Order Bride, but instead of finding a husband she finds a monster and runs away asap. The story starts with her having arrived in Emerald Falls and hiding in a barn belonging to Jess Farthing. She stays with him and they live together (rather unusual that no one tries to get them married off for that!) while there are attacks again and again by men sent by the man she ran away from. At times a little slow, nice but rather unrealistic when it comes to the society of that time. Still - a good read.
This is the most run on story I have read in awhile. It is filled with boring things that are not even related to the plot. The most exciting thing was when Jess broke his leg and what she had to go through to get him to the house. The hunt for Mikey Dennis was disappointing and the 5 paragraph climax was stupidly played. This story is 414 pages of boring. Even the improprieties engaged in this book is boring, Jess is a eunuch to sleep with a woman for a year without engaging in sex, especially a lonely 30 year old man. I would have quit reading the book, but unfortunately for the author, I am OCD about finishing a book that I have started.
She is on the run from what has been a living nightmare of a fiance. she hides in Jess's barn. He takes her in and she works for him. He and his family come to love her and are devastated by the scars she has from her ex. They want to help her and think her ex should pay for what he has done. When her and Jess go back to her town to look for him. But you know it isn't over there. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
What a great story. Friendship and family was stressed in this clean, sweet story. Jess was quite the hero and such a sweet guy. The story hooks you right from the start and it was hard putting it down so I could go to bed. Daisy was a very strong woman who deserved a happy ending. Throughout the book you were worrying about Daisy having to face the man who abused her and she ran away from. You'll have to read the book to find out how Daisy and Jess handled that situation.
This is a really good book. Very detailed. Took a few days to read. Daisy, escaped a man who horsewhipped her. Hid in a barn and found by a man named Jess who was willing to do anything to protect her. She learns to trust again and builds a really good life with her new friends. There is a lot that goes on in this book and I’m not sure the amount of time from the beginning to the end. Some events seem a bit unbelievable but over all it was a very interesting book.
I enjoyed reading this great book. A lady was to become a mail order bride. The day after she arrived her husband to be whipped her with a horse whip she ran away and was found hiding in a barn. She fell in love with the one that found her and they set out to for nd the man who had abused her.
I know how hard authors work to put their writing out there for the public, so I won't leave below 3 stars for a book, unless it is sloppy. This book was edited well for errors. Storyline is good, but the writing is a bit stilted and development could have been deeper. Character development and dialogue both need some work, as they are superficial.
A mail-order bride escaped from cruel fiance and was found hiding in a haystack in tiny little farm. From the begining there was electricity between them . Neither one one of them had courage to process their love. They lived in constant fear that the cruel would come and find her. Wonderful reapd.
Daisy O'Malley was in an abusive relationship. One day when she was able she escaped and found herself in Jess Farthing's barn. The characters are sweet, the story line is realistic. However, there are a lot of grammatical editing issues and it's not exactly historically accurate. It didn't stop me from reading the book but if those issues were fixed, the rating would likely be 5 star.
This book held my interest well. The characters were well drawn and consistent, the plot intricate enough to keep you reading and the events were logical. I felt our author did her research very well. The switch in gender of the dog, Mags, was a bit irritating but I will read more of her work anyway.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters came to life for me and kept me captivated till the end. There is a companion book that you need to read also. It is offered free in this book.
Loved the strength and determination of Daisy. She got away with her life and made out into more. She found love, friends and family. Jess mom helps the couple. Keep up the good work looking foreword to more
This book has a great plot with strong characters and a smooth storyline. Daisy is a survivor and realized from the beginning that she had found a strong, wonderful, hardworking man like Jess. A great book to start the series.
Finding a woman in his barn was the last thing Jess expected. Being safe was all Daisy wanted after all she went through. Could not put it down. I have just discovered this Author and is now one I will keep reading.
This was a wonderful book, the interaction between all the characters made the story flow so smoothly. The extended epilogue was just the right finish and rounded out the story.
Lots of action, some hard to take. But I loved the community and how they stuck together. Loved the enterprising efforts and learned a few things. Oh and the romances were delicious.
Jess finds Daisy hiding in his barn after she ran away from a man who beat and horsewhipped her. He took her in and the whole community surrounds her with love and befriends her.
