Jerry Cole is a gay author who lives in California & enjoys writing love stories. Jerry has been writing fiction since he was a child. As a young adult, he worked as a freelance writer in the evenings & on weekends. Jerry started writing gay romance stories several years ago, but initially just for his own entertainment & occasionally sharing stories with his friends. In the summer of 2015 he published his first gay romance short story on Amazon. Overwhelmed by the positive response he decided to quit his “day job” & took up writing gay romance full time. When he’s not writing steamy M/M romance he enjoys globetrotting, watching movies with family and friends, working out, & being dragged down the road by his two Great Danes.
Collection of longish short stories, including two 'bonus novellas'. A fairly standard mix leavened by some unusual locales (well, New Orleans) and being shorter than novel length easier not to be too irritated by the usual 'boy loses boy' stage that tends to occur in that length of book.
A Healing Heart Erik is a very burnt out nurse and he meets Baxter during a time of self-healing. Erik must be honest with himself about who he wants to be, what he wants to do, and who he wants to be with.
The Blueliner Jacob is his hockey's team captain, and their newest player, Dino, is the first openly gay player. Jacob has much to learn about itself.
The Second Song Colin is left bereft after he makes a drastic change in his life goals. He is drifting and without purpose when he meets Noah. Noah is sweet and encouraging. The ending is open.
A Shot in the Dark Liam has not been happy in a long time and does not realize this until he runs into his old friend Jason. Jason who moved away, who he could not stop thinking about. Liam must decide what he wants.
Finding Forever Declan is jaded after hiding his attraction to men and his ruthlessness extends to his personal and professional life. Andy wants it all, a career and a family. He has the career but cannot seem to find the right man to start the family with. Declan is stuck in his ways and may let the best thing in his life walk away.
Fireside Passion Jackson's decade long relationship ends badly. The pain is still fresh months later when he finally decides to move on, better himself, and meets Mike. Their lives are very different and the distance is insurmountable.
Freedom, Fate, and Love Aaron is out but looking for love in all the wrong places. Javier only hooks up with random guys because he cannot fathom telling his parents who he truly is.
Jerry Cole has a wonderful assortment of romantic stories in his new book, “Affairs of the Heart”. Some stories are longer than others, all with happy endings, and there’s a few I wished were just a bit longer because they were so good. As I read each story I fell in love with the new characters and couples and the dilemmas they dealt with.
It’s too much to go into detail about each individual story, but I will say I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. What’s nice about Jerry’s short stories, or any collection of stories, is that luxury off choosing which one to read and can be completed it in a short amount of time. The book doesn’t have to be read all at once. Enjoy one or two, or six at a time; it’s yours to choose.
I give it 4.5 stars, so I guess I’ll round up to the 5 stars. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced read copy of this book.
This is a great collection of short stories, varying in length. All the stories are well written with characters that come alive. I enjoyed reading each individual story, with different settings and characters. Cleverly the writing style changed in the stories reflecting the nuances of the different characters and their backgrounds.
Jerry Cole has put together a wonderful collect of romantic stories. I got hooked reading about their efforts to find love. It is hard to chose which story I like the most as all the stories are lovely to read.
I highly recommend this book. I received a free advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest & unbiased review.
This is a book filled with stories about people finding the right partner, often by accident, and in a variety of situations and of course HEA’s. It is also a book hard to put down. As one story ends one cannot resist to start reading the next one. I would not be able to choose a favourite out of all of them, as each one is different. If I had to, it would be the very first one. This book is definitely a must read.
I read a complimentary Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
A really great collection of short stories about gay men and romance. As with all collections there were a few excellent stories and a couple not so great ones. The collection was well edited, no weird words or falling in and out of tense. If you like m/m romance with a little erotica then this is a good selection for you.
