A Tale of Modern Gothic Horror. Thirteen families. Human-fae hybrids who have existed alongside humanity for thousands of years. With long lives and magic they shaped the world. Until a curse … or rather, curses … Longing for freedom, Grayson Penrose finds himself dreaming of the past, searching for something he lost, but hating his empty life. He wants nothing more than to be left alone. But fate has other plans for him. Placed in the path between human and supernatural nations, with his curse lifted, only Grayson can carry the burden of his dying race.
Michelle Cori lives in the Rocky Mountains, when she isn’t traveling to the next Comic Con. Currently she spends her time running a bar and telling tales over drinks or in the form of novels and comics. During the day she works as a Production Manager in publishing.
She shares her life and home with her teenaged son, and two crazy min-pins named Harvey Wallbanger and Honey Bunny. Traveling, bourbon, hard ciders, record shops, tea, old book stores and good ales are some of her other pastimes. She has a love for Flash Gordon, Highlander, Star Wars, Dune, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, comic books, and all things 80s, as if you couldn’t tell from her writing.
Often, she can be found writing at various coffee shops around the country.
This is just one of my most favorite books ever. Modern gothic magic. Also a talking raven. Hear me talk about it on the podcast! http://readingamokpod.com
So I got this book last year at comic con, I bought it on a whim (the author totally convinced me). And you know what, it was actually super good. It was slow, and you can tell this is her first book so some of the writing was a little weird and underdeveloped. But getting past that, you enter a unique world. Filled with mystery and sorrow. And honestly this book has so much potential to grow and to get better. It has a good foundation, it has a good story with interesting characters. I book is good, though sometimes I got a little bored of the back and forth of the past and present. But it’s good and definitely worth your read to see how Ms. Cori will grow and expand her writing with this story. And I truly cannot wait for the next one
This is a story unlike any I've ever read. It takes a bit to be 100% unique in the Game of Books, but Michelle Cori has done just that. A story of witches (fae-human hybrids) who are under a curse that can only be broken by one man and one woman, and the efforts to find these people. The main character, Gray, has his life turned upside down when he realizes that its him that has to save their race.
This is definitely one that you should read if you're in to stories about magic. The thirteen witch families are as conniving and deceptive as the great families of Westeros, and just as power-hungry. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. I hope to see more of the "vampire" witches in later book. #HouseTremayne
Honestly probably one of my favorite books I have ever read! Even when I didn't like the way the story was going, the author just drug me right back in.
