Daniel Mueller ruined my fairytale.

Thing is, he’s also the reason I feel alive for the first time in my nineteen years. It makes no sense that I’m obsessed with a violent drug addict. Then again, nothing makes sense at Madison Academy.

They say I’m gifted—they lied. The world's a dark place for a girl whose touch triggers an intrusive glimpse into the past and future of those around her. They promised to change all that. I promised to let them. Yep, I got to be a princess for three hours.

There's a room at Madison that wasn't on my tour. I shouldn’t know that. I shouldn’t know any of the secrets I learn from one volatile encounter with the campus bad boy. One impulsive touch, and enemies become victims, guardians become – I don’t know what. All I know is I’m trapped in a volcanic connection with a troubled junkie who embraces his label.

Thing is, he’s not one. Not even close. But I see things others don't, and now I’m the secret.

This was a story that I devoured because I found it so engaging. The two-part story takes place in Madison Academy, which I likened to the X-Men Mutant Academy, and I found the characters to be fascinating with their various abilities. The layers of intrigue were plentiful, and deciphering who was good and who was evil took some doing--except for the evil Director, he was all bad.

I was highly engrossed by this tale although it was out of the norm for my reading choices: there were no descriptive sex scenes, and I wouldn't consider it a safe read from a romantic perspective. It did seem to digress to a high school level drama with who's dating whom, and there was a lot of push and pull between the main characters. However, it was all believable and explained by the story, and like I said, I couldn't quit reading it because I had to know what happened and how everything was resolved. The story ended with a new plot point introduced, so I really hope Moira Hale is continuing the saga of these characters. I definitely want to read Soren Acker's story and will be on the lookout for it to be released.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, I just knew I needed something out of the ordinary. This was definitely something different! It gave me the full range of emotions and even though it was a “paranormal” romance, it was very relatable. The story was so twisty and at some points my stomach was in knots, and at some points I wanted to throw my Kindle. This is a story of soulmates with a psychological twist.

Wow I jumped into this one without really knowing what it was about and was sucked in from the beginning. Rebecca has decided to attend a school for kids with special "abilities". She has managed to survive through high school and she just wants a chance to have some kind of normal and learn to control her "gift". Daniel is the resident bad boy and catches her attention despite everyone's warnings.

Gifted is on the darker side. It is full of suspense and angst. The author has started us on a journey that I honestly am not sure where it will end. In the beginning I kind of wanted to hate Daniel for being a jerk but as we learn more about him it just broke my heart. Rebecca is strong and even in the face of what seem to be insurmountable odds she doesn't quit. Loved this story line and characters. Would enjoy getting to know more about the other students and their abilities.

Cursed picks up right where book 1 left off. It is the continuation of Rebecca and Daniel's story. Moira does an amazing job of keeping you guessing where the story is going next. She threw in surprises at every turn. Cursed is angsty and full of suspense. Left us with a major twist at the end that sets up for book 3 perfectly. Will be looking forward to reading it as well.

Overall, a disjointed, incoherent and pointless description of torture and abuse. This story makes no sense, is incoherent and from beginning to end. It described ongoing torture of an innocent. It is sickly addictive due to the violence and angst but I should have put it down a lot earlier. Not at all Ok reading for children or teens with self-harm elements present in an unproductive fashion.

Not for me

I just couldn’t get into this book and struggled to finish it. I just felt everything was repetitive. I think it had huge potential but for me it was just the same thing over and over - all very boring after a bit!

Good but...

I liked this book to a point. I thought it was well written, different and interesting. But it's almost to long. I love a good thick book but this one dragged in spots. I skipped over some of the pages. Overall it's worth reading.

I went into this blind, I found it quite an unusual read with Rebecca entering a school for the gifted and finding things were not exactly what she had hoped for. Some bits were repetitive but I liked the general feel of the tension and wondering how it would all work out.
