నన్ను పట్టి పీడించే ఒక జీవితకాలపు వేదన ఈ నవల. డోజర్లతో పొదలన్నిటినీ కుళ్ళగించి, బరకల్నీ, బీడు నేలల్నీ సాగుభూములుగా మార్చే క్రమంలో పర్యావరణాన్ని విధ్వంసం చేస్తున్న దుర్మార్గం ఒకవైపు పల్లెల్ని కమ్ముకొస్తూ ఉంటే, మరోవైపు పాతకాలపు వృక్షాల ఫలసాయంతో తృప్తిపడాల్సింది పోయి, ఆ చెట్లనే నరికి సొమ్ము చేసుకోవాలని చూసే మూర్ఖత్వం, స్వార్థం చుట్టుముడుతూ ఉంటే, ఇంకోవైపు బహుళజాతి కంపెనీల వంగడాలతో సాంప్రదాయక విత్తనాలు, తృణధాన్యాలను మట్టిలో పాతిపెట్టే అత్యాశ ఒక దయ్యంలా వెంటాడుతోంటే పల్లె తన స్వరూపం కోల్పోతున్న పరిస్థితి నా హయాంలోనే చూస్తూ ఉన్నాను.

ఈ విధ్వంసదృశ్యాలన్నిటికీ సాక్షీభూతంగా నిలుచున్న దయనీయ స్థితిలోంచి ఈ నవల పుట్టింది. పర్యావరణాన్ని మాత్రమే కాదు, తన్ను తానూ కాల్చి బూడిద చేసుకునే దిశగా మనిషి గమనం చూస్తున్నాను కాబట్టే ఈ నవల రాయాల్సి వచ్చింది. రోడ్డుకు దూరంగా, మారుమూల పల్లెల్లో బతుకుతూ ఉన్న పాతకాలపు వ్యవసాయదారుల జీవన మూలాల్ని అంటుగట్టి తెచ్చి, నగరీకరణ దిశగా అడుగులేస్తోన్న పల్లెవీధి కూడళ్లలో నాటగలిగితే ఈ రోగానికి కొంతైనా ఉపశమనపు మందు తయారవుతుందేమోనన్న ఆశతో ఈ నవల రాశాను.

మాయమవుతున్న పల్లె జీవితం పై పట్టణ ప్రభావం నేపధ్యంతో సాగిన నవల ఇది. ఇందులో రెండు భాగాలున్నాయి. ఒకటి పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతలు గడించిన ఒక డాక్టర్ అంతరించిపోతున్న ధాన్యపు జాతి కోసం ఆరు నెలల అన్వేషణ. రెండవది తన ప్రాణవాయువుతో పొలాన్ని బుజ్జగించి, సమస్త జీవకోటితో అత్యంత సహజంగా మమేకమైపోయిన మరో అంతరిస్తున్న జాతి - రైతు జీవితం.

నా సర్కిల్లో చక్కటి ప్రాచుర్యం పొందిన పుస్తకం. అన్నిందాలా ఆదరణకు అర్హమైన పుస్తకం కూడా. చాలా మంచి రివ్యూలు వచ్చేసాయి ముందే. అంచేత నేను రాయగలిగింది, మిగిలింది ఏదీ లేదు. ఓ గుర్తు కోసం రాసుకునే మాటలు తప్ప.

భౌతిక ప్రపంచంలో నువ్వెంత ఎదిగినా, మూలాలు నేలలో కుదురుకుని ఉంటేనే అది పచ్చని చెట్టుగా ఉంటుందని; వాపు ఎప్పటికీ బలుపు కాదనీ; ఒంటరితనపు విలువ ప్రకృతిలో మమేకం కావడంలో ఉందనీ; ప్రపంచంలో సకల జీవరాసులలో మనం ఒక అల్ప భాగమనీ, అన్నిటినీ కలుపుకుని బతికేదే బతుకని; చాలా పచ్చటి వాతావరణంలో చెప్పిన కథ. ఇష్టంగా చదువుకోవాల్సిన కథ, మనందరి కథ. నాకు కనిపించిన లోటొక్కటే, ఆరిక పండించడమే ధ్యేయంగా సాగిన కథలో ఆరిక పెరగడాన్ని, పెరుగుదలలో రకరకాల దశల్నీ దృశ్యంగా చూడాల్సింది నేను, కుంట గురించి తెలుసుకున్నంత వివరంగా. కంకులుంటాయా, పొత్తులుంటాయా, భూమ్మీదకు వాలిపోతాయా, అసలెలా వుంటాయి!? ఆ తెలుసుకోకపోవడం ఒక చిన్న మిస్సింగ్ లాగా. కొంత నాటకీయత లేకుండా కథ కాదు కాబట్టి, అది సరి. ఏదేమైనా వెంకటరామిరెడ్డి గారు వస్తువులో ప్రాణం పెట్టి రాసిన రచన. మనందరికీ అవసరమైన రచన. వీలు చేసుకుని చదవమని నా మాట.

If you can read telugu and ever lived in a village for a while, or if your parents/grandparents are from a village or in agriculture, buy this and read it!!
Bonus for the language if you are from rayalaseema!! Another must read by @sannapureddyvenkataramireddy along with kondapolam.

Other classics and great works in English can survive irrespective of whether a telugu person reads it. But if you can identify with life in a village or agriculture, you should read and promote it to pass it to the next generations who may want to know about the life of their grandparents/parents to find about their roots and origins.

As mohammed khadeerbabu writes in 'kathalu ilaa kooda raastaru', oka rayalaseema raitu Katha ni cheppalante English paniki raadu. Aa life lo unna intensity and depth authentic ga cheppalante aa bhaasha lone cheppali. Alage cheppinanduku sannapureddy venkataramireddy gariki krutagnatalu.

As I lived in a village for the first 12 years of my life in an agricultural family, listening to exactly the language and words in the book, this novel feels even more personal. I wish I knew the feelings and exact meanings of those words wrt plants and animals and that my parents didn't have to fear that having that knowledge could somehow affect my education and career. As the author makes the point in కొండపొలం book, the disconnect between their education and their roots affects the young people confidence and making them feel lost in భావదారిద్యం, way more than the people in telugu states realize.

That is why telugu books and literature can give a fulfilling and a sense of perspective to build your own value system, and to overcome the current craving mindset of money, land and status, without even questioning if you even really desire them. Buy books as gifts and have enough books at home, both for adults, kids and elders.

Excellent analysis of seemingly trivial nuances and quirks of a farmer. A must read although the going gets slow and a bit forced in the second half.

Felt every emotion of Raghava nd still trying to understand the words of Narsayya. I would definitely recommend to everyone to read the book nd i know im going to read this book again n again whenever i feel like reading it. Another master peice in my book shelf.

You will live like a farmer while reading the book. If you are from a village you will feel like nostalgia all the time. Nature, to be specific a village atmosphere and its culture has wonders within its womb.
