The Pecker Briefs

Rate this book
I never thought a pecker would get me in so much trouble.

I mean, sure… if you’re talking about a certain anatomical feature of mine that the ladies just love. Given my bachelor status and appreciation for all things curvy and feminine, I could absolutely see that. But a different pecker is making my life much harder than it needs to be.

My name is Ford Daniels, partner at the law firm of Knight & Payne, and my latest case has me wading through the finer points of peckers—woodpeckers that is. Specifically, the red-cockaded woodpecker. I swear, I can’t make this stuff up but that’s what the sexy-as-hell blonde chained to a tree told me this morning.

Her name is Viveka Jones and she is so much more than a pretty face. She’s got wit, charm, and razor-sharp smarts. Turns out my client is looking to bulldoze the red-cockaded woodpecker’s natural habitat in favor of a multimillion-dollar subdivision and the sexy attorney with legs for days (and days), just happens to be counsel for an animal rights group looking to put a halt to construction.

My client’s pissed, but all I can think about is getting Viveka across the table from me. And then on the table underneath me. Perhaps up against the wall. And then—

Well, let’s just say when it’s all said and done, I’m hoping the red-cockaded woodpecker isn’t the only pecker that gets some attention from Miss Viveka Jones.

I have another Sawyer Bennett series to add to my “Favorites” shelf! I don’t know why I waited so long to read her ”Legal Affairs” series but I will be making some time to get to these books!! ”THE PECKER BRIEFS” was a well-paced sweet & super steamy read!! I loved the Hero, the Heroine, and just the whole feel of this story.

Ford Daniels is a successful lawyer working for one of the elite law firms in Raleigh, N.C. He’s a real ladies man and loves his carefree life as a bachelor. No woman has been able to hold his attention longer than a few weeks, until he meets the beautiful and headstrong opposing attorney of his upcoming case, Viveka Jones.

Viveka is an animal rights attorney. Recently divorced, she lives in a tiny modest home, making enough just to get by. She has a huge heart and she’ll take on cases even when she knows that her clients can’t afford to pay her because protecting the rights of animals is her passion. One of Ford’s clients calls him and orders him to get down to his construction site to handle a situation for him. When he arrives what he thought was going to be an annoying start to his day, turns out to be the highlight actually when he sees a beautiful woman who obviously chained herself to a tree. He’s even amused when Viveka hands over a court-ordered injunction against any work being done on the site in order to protect the red-cockaded woodpecker which is on the endangered species list, and happens to have built a nest in that tree along with all the surrounding trees in the area.

Ford and Viveka have crazy chemistry. It only takes 24 hours for them to wind up tangled between the sheets and from then on, they can barely stay away from each other for more than a day. Their romance was HOT and oh so sweet! This wasn’t a particularly angsty read but we do get some drama when it becomes clear that someone will do just about anything to silence Viveka. Ford wants to take matters into his own hands and protect Viv but she’s just as adamant about protecting his career and stubbornly makes him promise to not take any action.

Ford and Viveka try to keep their romance under the radar as it could cause big problems for them since they’re currently opposing attorneys on a court case. Will they be successful in keeping their relationship a secret and can they get through the case unscathed when it’s apparent that someone has it out for Viveka?

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 5
Plot: 4.5
Angst: 3
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

"Maybe there's hope for you yet."

The Pecker Briefs is the seventh book in the Legal Affairs Series. This sexy contemporary stand-alone is full of passion, romance, and witty text. When successful attorney Ford Daniels finds his client's project in danger of shutting down due to the existence of a rare bird, he finds himself battling it out with the stunning animal activist attorney Viveka Jones. Although Viv and Ford find themselves on opposite sides of the courtroom by day, at night they are just fine being side by side in bed. As both struggle with their passion to do what is right for their client and their growing desire to be together, a passionate romance is formed.

"Frantic, crazy fucking. I'm not sure I know how to do it any other way with this woman."
Told in dual POV, The Pecker Briefs is a fast-paced contemporary romance with passion, complex characters, and a creative plot. The dialogue is rich with flirtation and wit! The connection between Viv and Ford happens fast and yet, I devoured every moment of their journey together.
"Her pussy gloves me tight, and her cries echo off the walls all around me."
Overall, this is my first read in the Legal Affairs Series. One taste of the courtroom antics and smoking hot steam and I am desperate for more. Sawyer Bennett has become one of my favorite authors due to her dynamic storytelling and unforgettable characters. I highly recommend The Pecker Briefs to anyone who enjoys a well written contemporary romance with plenty of passion and courtroom antics at their best!

Happy Book Birthday!

Sawyer Bennett adds to her entertaining and sexy Legal Affairs series with this provocative title The Pecker Briefs in which we follow magnetic lawyer Ford Daniels and animal rights attorney Viveka Jones who chained herself to a tree in order to save an endangered woodpecker species.

Viveka and Ford are opposing counsel in the “Pecker Briefs” but that doesn’t stop them from acting on their attraction. As they spend time together, maturely separating their personal time from the case, they explore the deep connection develops in deliciously sweet, sexy and touching ways that ultimately lead to love.

Both Viveka and Ford are charming and compelling characters. Viveka is smart, independent and caring with an inner beauty that matches her model looks. A perpetual bachelor, Ford is a partner at Knight & Payne law firm as is equally smart, funny, and witty. He’s also gorgeous, thoughtful, caring, attentive, successful, in a word, perfect.

I truly enjoyed reading about Viveka and Ford. Theirs was a spellbinding tale with a wonderful flow and interesting plot. It was touching and thought provoking. The relationship was well developed, without unnecessary angst or drama, probably due to the central character’s maturity. I read it in a single sitting because it was impossible to put down.

Sawyer crafts another sultry contemporary story that showcases her unforgettable wit and charm while turning up the heat in incredible sexy love scenes. A perfect romance you can escape in.

The Pecker Briefs is book #7 of the Legal Affairs series by Sawyer Bennett. It is a standalone, contemporary forbidden romance. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

You have to admit that with a title as the Pecker Briefs Sawyer Bennett raises immediately a lot of questions ! From the moment I saw it, I knew I needed to read the book. First because it was a new book in the Legal Affair series and that’s how I started reading Sawyer’s books and then you tell me pecker and my mind goes in one direction only… Yes I have a dirty mind. What did you think about? Did you picture the bird?... (I know I can be funny sometimes)… I meant the woodpecker of course :p

So back to my decision to read The Pecker Briefs, if you’ve read Sawyer’s work before you know how her legal books are her best. Aside for The Truth about Sunshine, which was unique and totally different from what she writes, the fact she was a lawyer makes it even more inevitable.

I already met Ford in Friction but you can read this one as a stand-alone. I didn’t immediately put two and two together when I started read it so no big deal. Once I knew who he was, I was even more excited because I knew the guy was charming. He’s the perfect boyfriend, caring, compassionate and dirty in the sack but he never really got attached and tied, not because he didn’t want to but more because he never found the right woman who gave him the urge to settle down. Meeting Viveka and being opposite parties in a legal affair was all the challenge and thrill he needed.

Viveka is a lawyer with a heart. Working more pro bono than anything else. She wants justice for animal that obviously can’t defend themselves. She has lots of spirit and stand for herself. To Ford it was refreshing, to me it was a woman’s crush.
Together they spend a good time. Their banter is fun and their chemistry is off the charts.

The Pecker Briefs was perfect for an Sunday at the beach or a Sunday at home under a blanket with low drama and lots of sexy moments.

Hits the heart and the funny bone!

This story struck so many chords with me! Viveka with her love of animals, nature and fighting for what was right, not expedient. Ford, for his charm and that sexy way about him - even when he was being all lawyer-y. Together, the sparks flew, the laughs abounded and their romance was a treat from start to finish!

I laughed and I smiled as these two fought the law and each other with a woodpecker in the middle! The slimy side of business and the people who fight it had me rooting for the underdog. Viveka had charm of her own with her never too ‘over the top’ positive outlook. And cheeky sense of humour! She wanted to do what was right and used any and all tools (handcuffs included) to make her point. To win her case.

Their banter, their passion, the laughter made this light-hearted read – with a david vs goliath feel – a delightful read! ~Diane, 5 stars

This has been a fabulous series, that I was more than excited to see another episode of.

Ford Daniels is a successful partner at the law firm, Knight and Payne. We caught a glimpse of him in a previous storyline, (remember him & Leary?!) leaving us with the impression of a self assured, personable, no ties on me type of guy.

His latest case finds him visiting a plot his client is keen to flatten in order to pursue his latest exclusive development. That would have gone without opposition until he finds a very attractive female chained to a tree on said plot, pleading them not to demolish the red-cockaded woodpecker’s natural dwelling.

Viveka Jones is adamant she’s going to put a halt to this latest construction. Having used her lawyer status in the animal rights arena for some years, this latest cause pulling on those heart strings of hers. What she wasn’t expecting was the added internal combustion she experienced when she met the opposing counsel.

Recalled from both characters point of view, Sawyer shows us what she does best in creating whimsical, sassy h’s who are paired with a cocky, smug, partner. Their resultant duels are a joy to behold, feeding our laughter tanks, whilst capturing our emotions. Their cracks were unique, their situations heartfelt, and their development divine.

Ford was a hard nut to crack, but boy did I enjoy observing.

***5 ‘Ford & Viveka (and a little Midge)’ Stars***

It took me a minute to remember who Ford Daniels was, (I know, bad me *slaps own hand* but it’s been more than a minute since I read a book in the Legal Affairs series) so I did what any good reader does, I go to GR and scroll through all the book and that’s when it hit me.

Friction.

Leary.

OMG. THAT. FORD!! (I may have squeed a little)

So, with that knowledge I dove in and loved The Pecker Briefs (Yes, the title makes me giggle, I admit it). It was all kinds of swoon worthy, sweet, smexy and low on angst ~ which I really suit the mood I was in when I started reading ~ and while I didn’t devour the words, I enjoyed each and every one of them.

Ford is just...everything. I mean the goodness that is this man is mind blowing. He’s sweet, charming, can be Alpha AF when needed (Like OMG Smexy times), compassionate and simply a genuine human being all around.

Viveka is beautiful inside and out. I swear I had a girl crush on her and kinda want to be her when I grow up. She had an interesting life growing up and has worked really hard to get where she is. She may not be rolling in the dough, but she loves what she does and is quite content with her life.

Ford and Viveka together were so much fun. From their first collision there were sparks and it only grew from there. The smexy between them was nuclear...I mean HOT! But outside of the bedroom they were even better. They respected each other and I loved the open communication they had, there was no game playing going, it was simply two people spending time together and finding that they wanted more.

As I said in the beginning the angst is low, think opposite end of the spectrum from Friction, but there is some drama and it does keep things interesting. I loved catching up with Leary and Reeve, who were a lot of fun. And then there is Midge Payne...this woman is everything! I swear I was just as excited about getting more time with her as I was to experience Ford falling in love.

So if you’re in the mood for a swoon worthy, smexy read that’s low on angst then The Pecker Briefs is a must read!

This is a stand alone novel about enemies to lovers. Hands down classic Sawyer Bennett rom com style. If you are up for a steamy, humorous romp through the world of legal proceedings and, well, pecker briefs, you need to grab this book!

Fans will recognize Ford from some of the other books in the series. It was great to see his softer side and watch the commitment phobe finally fall! An adorable meet cute brings him face to face with his opposing counsel and ultimate heart grabber--Veka.

Loved Veka as well. So strong and loved her sass. She is not about to let Ford have the reins without a fight. Great secondary characters and some familiar faces from previous books. Fantastic pacing. Such a fun read over all. You'll want to finish it in one setting.

I must sound like a broken record when it comes to author Sawyer Bennett and my love for her words.
I love her storytelling and her characters never fail to bring out the feels.
And once again she's delivered a sweet, fun, memorable, sexy, heartwarming and entertaining read with The Pecker Briefs.

I loved Ford and Viveka, they made me laugh with their banter, they made me smile with the way they tried to out do the other and they made me swoon watching them fall in love.
These two had everything I'm looking for when I pick up a romance book, great chemistry, humor, passion and smart honest characters that aren't afraid to go after what they want.
Did I mention how hot these two where? *fans self*

Another plus was getting to revisit Leary and Reeve, I loved them from Friction and I was so happy we got to see how life was treating them <3

Sigh... the last few chapters I couldn't stop smiling. The Pecker Briefs is defiantly going to be on my must read again list!

A big thank you to Sawyer Bennett for writing Ford's story and for finding the perfect woman in Viveka for this wonderful, sweet and sexy man.

I adore Sawyer Bennett’s Legal Affairs series; each story has witty banter, hot as fuck sex scenes and a hero and heroine who are extremely intelligent, driven, and confident, both inside and outside of the courtroom.

But while I’ve loved each of Bennett’s opposing counsels’ couples, Viveka Jones and Ford Daniels just might be my favorite of them all, not only because their chemistry and attraction radiates from the pages of The Pecker Briefs but also because they are both genuine, passionate, and all about the peckers, even if Viveka and Ford’s meanings of the word vary quite drastically;)

Regardless of their differing interpretations, I think both of the main characters as well as all of the readers of The Pecker Briefs would wholeheartedly shout, ’Hail to the peckers!’ Partly because the endangered ‘peckers’ are what bring Viveka and Ford together and partly because as soon as Viveka experiences Ford’s ‘pecker,’ she can’t get enough, which Ford definitely doesn’t mind.

Viveka Jones is definitely one of my favorite Sawyer Bennett’s heroines. I adore her quirkiness, her sass, her confidence, and her compassion when it comes to her furry clients but also to any decent human being. One of the reasons I really enjoy everything that is Viv is because Bennett provides readers with Viv’s backstory; we see her piece of work mom and all that Viv had to deal with when it came to her mother’s view of her and her role in Viv’s life. It’s clear in how Ford describes Viveka and the fact that she was a young model that she is beyond stunning, but she doesn’t use her looks to get ahead; in fact, she really doesn’t pay much attention to how others view her because she’s confident enough in herself and how she treats others that other people’s opinions, especially those who attempt to tear her down because they’re jealous, don’t matter to her, which is exactly why her mom is not part of Viv’s life.

I wouldn’t call Ford a manwhore per say….he’s a serial monogamist who gets bored and loses interest in a short amount of time, but he doesn’t have a different woman in his bed each night and he’s absolutely not a cheater. The way I see it is that Ford was just waiting for the right woman - the one who he would never get bored with and who he wanted to spend just as much time with in bed as out of it, and it’s obvious as soon as Ford and Viv see one another that they’re attract to each other and from that day on, there’s no stopping what’s building between them, even if they are on opposing sides of a legal case.

Readers will adore The Pecker Briefs because it’s a fun, flirty, steamy, and intelligent romance. It also has amazing secondary characters in Leary and Reeve who readers who are familiar with Sawyer Bennett’s Legal Affairs’ series will remember and Viv couldn’t find a better best friend than Frannie; that woman has Viv’s back no matter what and that’s definitely the kind of woman that Viv deserves to have in her corner.

I can’t get enough of Bennett’s stories and characters. It amazes me how many different series she’s written and that each and every one provides numerous fantastic reads time and time again, which proves just how amazing Bennett is as a writer and a storyteller.

Sawyer Bennett is just my absolute favorite one click author. She writes the most diverse personalities and has such a wide array of novels I don’t now how she does it.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳𝘀 is such a fun, enjoyable and beautiful read that has a great reading flow. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳𝘀 is the 7th novel in the Legal Affairs Series. It can be read as a complete standalone.

Tropes:
Workplace Rivals
Legal Romance

Successful lawyer Ford Daniels is working a case where his client’s construction project is being held up due to the location being a bird sanctuary. Ford must resolve this issue.

Animal activist attorney Viveka Jones made it her life’s mission to protect animals. She is specialized in animal rights and is the attorney trying to prevent the build.

Although Ford and Viveka are legal rivals working against each other, Ford can’t help but want this beautiful woman. Her personality, passion and looks are what attracts Ford. Viveka is infatuated with Ford as well. He’s powerful, brilliant and respectful towards her.

If you like amazing dialogue, legal romances and adults acting mature rather than doing silly things other in romance novels that drive me nuts , this book is for you. I absolutely loved it.

**Received ARC for a fair and honest review**
The Pecker Briefs is the 7th book in the Legal Affairs series. This book can be read as a standalone. This book is a fun, sweet, fast read.
Viveka Jones grew up as a model, when she got tired of her mom living vicariously through her, spending all her money she went through proper legal channels to become an emancipated minor. But she had more aspirations and put herself through school and law school and became an attorney. Now she's an animal defense attorney, and while it doesn't pay well she is happy. When she's asked to take on a case about the red cockaded woodpeckers that are on the endangered species list and a big construction company wants to level trees that there are nests in Viveka will not stop until they are saved. Ford Daniels works for Knight & Payne law firm, and is a hot shot attorney for them. When he gets a call from his client about land he's trying to excavate, the last thing he expects to find is a gorgeous female attorney chained to a tree, and now his opposing counsel.
I really enjoyed both characters tremendously. Viveka was smart, beautiful, down to earth, strong and Ford was smart, good looking, strong, alpha and caring. They had great chemistry, and watching their relationship evolve was a lot of fun. The storyline was fun, sweet, hot and steamy. I really enjoyed the secondary characters, loved seeing Leary and Viveka develop a friendship. I lived in NC for 7 years and on Ft Bragg there is a lot of protected land for the red cockaded woodpeckers. I've been there, as I was stationed there. I loved having that bit of fact in the story. Also gave the story some credibility and got me deeper involved in it. Overall loved the story. Can't wait for the next book in the series! Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!

The Pecker Briefs is the seventh book in the Legal Affairs series by the fabulous Sawyer Bennett. I have read every book in this series and I loved every word. I have to say, I didn't think Ford was going to get a story years ago, so I can't even express my excitement when I saw this book! Ford is Leary's best friend and coworker. I knew he was hot, sexy and intelligent, but I loved getting more of him. He's working on a big case and when he sees the opposing counsel, Viveka, he can't take his eyes off her. Yes, she's gorgeous, but it's more than that. She's feisty, ballsy, smart and independent. That combination just does it for him. Ford isn't a player as much as a serial monogamist. He dates one woman at a time, but not for longer than a few months. The heat seems to die off and that's it. But something stirs inside him when he meets Viveka. They are on opposite sides, but he's determined to have her and keep their professional life separate from their personal. Viveka is determined to save the woodpecker. She's also determined to have a sexy and fun fling with Ford Daniels. She's had a tough life, but that only made her stronger. She learned a long time ago to be confident and love yourself. No one can put you down if you know who you are. Ford can't believe how easy it is to be with Viv. She's just perfect for him. Could she be The One? I loved this story! Ford and Viv are smoking hot together. They are both sexy, funny and smart. Sawyer Bennett writes lawyer romance better than anyone! She knows how to incorporate lust, fun, romance, sexy lawyers and intelligent characters.

Ford is the absolute sexiest man I've ever been with. He's completely unfettered in his sensuality, and he made my body do things last night I didn't even know was possible.

"I needed something and I never knew it until then."
"Did I give it to you?"
"Yes."
"I'll give it to you any time you as me to, Viv."

"How is it that you are sexier and more beautiful every time I lay eyes on you?" Ford asks.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

I liked Ford and Viv. Even as opposing counsel on a case, they do not let that interfere with their personal relationship, which develops very very fast. They both have a respect for others job, even though they are vastly different, and at totally different ends of the spectrum.

The story flowed well, and just moved along very easily. It ramps up a little bit in the last quarter of the book, and that was where it did get a bit intense, and had some of my favourite bits.

Of course there were secondary characters to like, and not to like, and they just added to the story as well. I have not read any of the other books in this series, so I would be quite intrigued to go back and do so.

The ending was perfect. Overall a fast and easy read.

All hail to the Peckers! The Pecker Briefs is book #7 in the Legal Affairs series. It's a stand alone but we are also treated to an update on Leary and Reeve.

Ford Daniels, the eternal playboy, is going down for the count after meeting Viveka Jones while she was chained to a tree. Viveka is out to save the red-cockaded woodpeckers that have nested in the middle of a future subdivision. Viveka is a local animal rights attorney with a huge heart. I loved Viv. She put aside money from a young age and focused on her happiness. Her new case has her faces a formidable adversary in the courtroom, while they enjoy a tryst in the bedroom.

Ford is not long-term relationship kind of guy however Viveka captures his attention and he finds that he can't let her go.

I love Ford and Viveka. Ford moves from playboy to doting alpha boyfriend. Viveka lets him move right into her heart. The Pecker Briefs is a swoony romance with just the right punch! 5 Stars

Cute cute cute and hot damn that Ford is something else! This easygoing, sexy as hell romance hit all the right spots for me. It's a standalone in Sawyer Bennett's Legal Affairs series about lawyers on opposing sides and a woodpecker. The characters weren't being too angsty to the point of annoying considering they were fighting for different things. The were grown ass adults doing grown ass adult things and it was the perfect read after an especially emotional book I had just read.
.
Sawyer Bennett never disappoints so I knew I'd love it. She has a way with alpha men and headstrong woman, with humor and drama. Your heartstrings are tugged just enough to have you invested in the characters, but not enough to destroy you. Her books are the perfect escape and that's why I always come back for more.

A bit boring and while you can feel the chemistry, it went fast. One minute they were flirting and then we're in the middle of a sex scene. it wasn't even sexy... Anyway i love some light and angst free read but this one was almost bland.

This a follow up novel to Friction, which I loved. The H, Ford, was the ex-lover (sort of) of the h in Friction (Leary).
I've been looking forward to Ford's book. I one-clicked right away.
Ford is an attorney in the same law firm as Leary & Reeve (from Friction).

Ford and the h, Viveka's meeting is anything but a meet-cute. Viveka is chained to a long leafed Pine (pine's have leaves?) Anyway... Viveka is an animal rights attorney, representing the the red-cockaded woodpecker-a US Gov't recognized endangered species. The "Pecker" is said to be nesting high up in the pines- on the land (Swan's Mill) owned by a group of developers that intend to cut down the trees (the "Pecker's habitat). The "Pecker", Viveka's clients (Justice for All Animals) explain, isn't a migratory bird (they just can't move them to another location). Viveka is passionate about animals-ALL animals. She's a very capable lawyer, but has lived modestly by her own design. She does a lot of pro- bono work, including this case.

This is 1st person POV, alternating Ford/Viveka. OMG, the sparks start in chapter 1- when Ford sees Viveka chained to the tree.
By Chapter 3, they are definitely exploring their physical relationship. They have great chemistry from the get go.

Viveka is 37 ( Tall, blonde, Swedish born), Ford is 43 (never been married). Prior to their meeting, Ford had a smorgasbord of sexual partners, all with no strings.
Viveka is divorced, but had only her ex and a couple of other lovers. Wow are they ever on the same wavelength. Once they meet and get together, they are really together.
I went with it, since the entire book, is them, being together, but on opposite sides of the "Pecker" case.

Viveka had dubbed her legal documents (the injunction to permanently stop the builders), "The Pecker Briefs'.
This story takes place over a relatively short period of time (a few weeks). The case and finding out the decision is compressed for time (within the book). Ford and Viv vow to keep their work separate from their love life.
I loved these 2 just as much as Reeve & Leary from Friction. Leary is still Ford's best friend. Viveka is startled to find that out. Leary is very sweet to Viveka after they meet. The bad guys are once again, big bad corporate suits. There is one guy in particular, who frequently uses the "C" word on Viveka.

Ford has Viveka's back. I loved his bouts of alpha hotness- Don't mess with Viveka! He's surprised by his growing feelings for her.
Viveka's mom makes an appearance. She's rather shallow. Viveka is grown now & is great at standing up to her. Ford, yes, has her back.

I liked the plot more in Friction, but I liked the characters just as much.
This can be a standalone. I would recommend reading Friction first.
There's an HEA/HFN. the ending is aww sweet. Short and sweet.

While The Pecker Briefs is the seventh book in this series, it is definitely able to be read as a stand-alone. Characters from previous books make appearances, but when necessary for the plot, you’re given just enough backstory to not be lost.

Ford Daniels has never had a woman hold his interest for longer than a few months. And he’s okay with that because he’s pretty content in his bachelor lifestyle of nice cars, beautiful women, and time working as a partner for a prestigious law firm. But then he meets Viveka Jones. She’s beautiful and brilliant and so committed to her work as an animal rights lawyer that when they meet she’s literally chained to a tree in order to protect the red-cockaded woodpeckers living there. Despite the fact that they’re pitted against each other in this case of land developer vs animal conservationist, they find themselves unable to keep their hands off each other. As the case develops, so do their emotions, and a sense of impending danger as Viveka starts getting threats that Ford can’t always protect her from.

Lately, I feel like everything I’ve read has either been super emotionally heavy or devoid of any real emotion or action and is nothing but fluff. But The Pecker Briefs does a great job of finding the perfect balance for me. It was laugh out loud funny at times, but also had a great depth of emotion between Viveka and Ford and their friends and family. The threats against Viveka were just enough drama and tension to keep you on your toes, but never veered too far into uncomfortably dangerous territory. And, much to my pleasure, the lawyer aspects were interesting and just detailed enough that it flowed perfectly in the story without ever feeling bogged down by the time spent in the courtroom.

Yes, at times, both Viveka and Ford felt way too perfect. But both of them were charming and lovable enough that I didn’t mind they were the most beautiful and smart and giving people ever. Viveka was spectacular. Brilliant and fierce and unafraid to go after what she wanted in the courtroom and in the bedroom with Ford. And I adored Ford and his unwavering devotion to his friends, and later, Viveka. At the start, he was perfectly balanced on the line of fiercely independent playboy and doting boyfriend. He could be exclusive and galant and devoted without looking for more in a relationship and without seeming sleazy about it. And Bennett did a great job of writing his transition to love with Viveka in a really believable way. This former womanizer didn’t just wake up one morning head over heels in love, their relationship really grew organically through the book.

Overall, this was a great, quick and easy read that definitely inspired me to go back and take a chance on some of the previous books in the series.

I have not read any of the previous books in the Legal Affairs series but after reading The Pecker Briefs, I’ve added them all to my TBR!

Viveka Jones gorgeous and intelligent animal rights attorney who chained herself to a tree in order to save an endangered species of woodpeckers. Ford Daniels, a sexy and successful partner at Knight & Payne, is smitten with the gorgeous woman who he unchained from a tree. Even though they are about to be opposing counsel, their attraction is

I was hooked from the first chapter and absolutely fell in love with Viveka and Ford! There was instant chemistry and WHOA was it HOT!!! I truly enjoyed their banter and how their line of communication was open and direct. There was no over the top angst but a little drama to keep it interesting. The sex was so amazing, my Kindle was on the verge of melting! The Pecker Briefs was a sexy, swoon worthy read that was extremely enjoyable!

Fans of the Legal Affairs series will remember Ford Daniels from Friction, but you don’t need to read Friction to read The Pecker Briefs (though you should, because it’s awesome and one of my favorite books from Sawyer Bennett).

Ford Daniels has just acquired a new and interesting case. His client needs a "crazy" lady to back off so they can do the planned construction on a new elite subdivision. Said crazy lady happens to be gorgeous, well dressed, outspoken, and has no plans to back down...oh, and she is an animal rights lawyer nammed Viveka Jones who is determined to save the habitat of the red-cockaded woodpecker.

Ford is charming, wealthy, and a top notch lawyer at Knight and Payne. He can see the battle ahead, but is distracted by the looks and personality of Viveka. She believes in what she stands for and does not make the big bucks. She is sassy, intelligent, sweet, and challenging.

Together they have chemistry, they challenge each other, and are quite compatible. Sure, they are opposing counsel and perhaps should not be engaging in extra friendly relations, but they just can't seem to stop themselves. It's not exactly illegal, but maybe a bit unethical.

But there is also still the hiding, the woodpecker, the angry client, his boss, and the courts to deal with. And Ford is a good guy and usually monogamous, but gets bored easily so is not usually a long term relationship kind of guy. So Viv is well aware that they will probably have a time limit. But he is even surprising himself with his protective instincts and need to be around her.

So are they capable of a fun, adult fling or is someone's heart or even their career going to take a hit?

This is a funny, sexy, sweet, forbidden romance about lawyers who should be opposing each other but are meeting behind closed doors instead. They should be getting down and dirty in the courtroom and not the bedroom. But they seemed to have lost all control when it comes to each other.

I enjoyed getting more with his best friend, Leary and Reeve, and the quirky and imposing, Midge Payne from Friction. And her bestie, Frannie was great. Both Ford and Viveka were likable and well developed characters, and their chemistry was intense. They were mature and actually had intelligent conversations, so it was not full of unnecessary relationship angst. But they did have some things to learn about themselves and each other, and had plenty of stuff to wade through to figure out where they would come out in the end.

I was gifted a copy.

The plot of this book is nothing outstanding or original, yet when placed in the hands of extraordinary author Sawyer Bennett, it turns into a work of art (or should I say romance). The book is bewitching, the dialogues super entertaining and the chemistry and love story out of this world. This is one book you read in one day, delighting in the word chemistry that Sawyer Bennett gifts us in this delicious book.

Ford Daniels loves being a lawyer, loves his lifestyle, works hard because it’s what he loves to do. He’s in his forties but he’s never been able to settle down. His relationships only last for a couple months before he starts to get bored and itchy to move on.

Viveka Jones is an animal rights lawyer. She did corporate law for a while, but it was not for her. Once when she saw a guy mistreating a dog, she attacked him with her briefcase and stole his dog. At that moment, she realized what she was meant to work at. She doesn’t have a lot of money but she makes do because she loves what she does.

Ford is called into a ground breaking site because, as his client told him, there’s a crazy woman chained to a tree and is stopping the work to clear the area before starting construction. When Ford arrives, he’s struck by the woman’s beauty. White blond hair, wicked smile and intelligence in those gorgeous eyes. She’s determined, defiant, and a lawyer. She’s defending the red-cockaded woodpecker that is building a nest in that tree. The woodpecker is in the endangered species list. She’s Viveka and she’s already filed an injunction. Ford effectively informs his client that the legal documents are in order and that in effect, they can’t go ahead with the clearing of the land. Then Ford and Viveka go on and meet and greet and sleep together that same day.

There may have been reservations about being lawyers on opposite sides of a legal issue, but as Viveka says, they are professionals and can keep both sides of their lives separate. Viveka knows she doesn’t have as many resources as Ford’s client but she knows that she wins some cases and loses some and she’s fine with that. Ford is more worried about the differences in their situations and strives to balance it out.

I loved both characters and the story, as brilliantly written by this gifted author. Initially, they agreed to have a temporary relation. Viveka is falling for Ford but she knows it will be for a couple months, and then he will break her heart, but it will have been worth it. However, Ford is realizing that he needs to have Viveka all the time, when they wake up, when they go to bed, after work to share their work days, etc. It’s like a slow awakening to a love that he has been waiting for all their lives.

The side stories about their lives only serve to enrich the story and make the plot more lively. Great writing, great pace, great dialogues, addictive love story, it was one of the best reads of the year for me because it was entertaining and full of a lively love.

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

Being a huge fan of Sawyer Bennett's and Legal Affairs being one of only a few of her series that I have never indulged in, I was so ready to jump into bed with these hotties and their legal issues and see if this would be yet another favorite series by this amazing author. I mean come on, just based on the title, I just knew this was going to be a hot and hilarious read with lots of verbal sparring and sexy romps. It wasn't long into The Pecker Briefs and I was on the look out for way more than the red-cockaded woodpecker...if you know what I mean. Ford and Viveka are full of humor, heat, and never ending emotion and had me burning the midnight oil to see who was going to win this battle of hearts and legal briefs!

Viveka Jones is a heroine with a heart bigger than Texas for the all furry creatures of the world that can't speak for themselves. I truly fell hard for this heroine who sees the big picture and how the world is affected by our actions instead of dollar signs. Viveka is vivacious, sassy, and has a backbone of steel to go with her heart of gold and I think I found my new girl crush! I can completely see why Ford fell head over heels with no hope of recovery.

Ford Daniels is a smooth operator with a sexy body, and dirty talk that has all the women dropping their panties. That is until he sees the knockout heroine chained to the tree and his heart and libido are never the same afterward. I soon came to love this suited up hottie with oozing sex appeal and white knight syndrome, he had my heart pitter pattering all over the place. I am a feminist and all but I still love a man who wants to protect a woman and Ford knows how to roll up his sleeves and get dirty and defend his woman but also step back and admire her fire when she has it handled! Who wouldn't want a man like that?

Sawyer Bennett delivers another read that had my heart tripping, my temperature rising, and tickled my funny bone! I highly recommend The Pecker Briefs for a read that is sure to knock your socks off emotionally and keep you laughing! After having experienced a tantalizing taste of the compromising and sexy positions that these lawyers find themselves in from the Legal Affairs series, I am ready to go back to the beginning and indulge in more of the sexy legal drama! Sawyer Bennett always knows how to entertain and titillate with the most amazing characters and riveting story lines that keep a reader greedy and begging for more!
