Bound Together, Book 2 from the Karsten Field Trilogy is a Christian Amish novel by George Michael Loughmueller. Allan Howarth hasn’t regretted joining the Amish community of Karsten Field after his divorce. He loves his new family and friends, and appreciates the ancient teachings he now lives by. But his faith is tested when the farming community of Karsten Field experiences a sudden flood, then a drought. How are they to survive when the crops are ruined?

Things take another unexpected turn when a stranger visits, asking questions about his ancestor. It’s a harsh, cold winter that gets even worse when Ruth, Allan’s daughter, becomes seriously ill. Are prayers sufficient to save his daughter since the Amish disapprove of modern medicine? Is it God’s will to let Ruth die?

This is a wonderful follow-up to Set Free, Book 1 in the trilogy. Allan has matured a lot in physical appearance, as well as taking on a more positive, meditative outlook on life. I like the warm, homely attitude these Amish characters displayed, especially towards strangers they meet. The story is deep and meaningful, beautifully written and memorable.

I do like George Michael Loughmueller’s style as he is very thorough when explaining about the Amish religion and customs in a story that is moderately paced and interesting throughout. It is spiritually uplifting and readers will adore Ruth and Elder Ben. I recommend reading the first book in this series to better understand the characters and their issues a lot more before reading Bound Together.

I finished this book at 3:36 am. It becomes difficult to put into words how this story has touched me deeply spiritually. This is truly a test of faith.
