Annie O’Brien is a shy, but incredibly loyal waitress at the Stewart House restaurant. Devoted to her employer, she lives for the days when the restaurant is its busiest and there’s lots of work to be done. The nice thing about hard work, she quickly discovers, is that it helps keep her mind off of her broken heart. For the last year, she’s kept a well guarded secret, even from her closest friends: she was stood up at the train station where she was supposed to meet her mail order beau, James Prescott.

That all changes when one day, out of the blue, a man by the name of Thackery Prescott shows up in her life. It turns out that this man is the same gentleman who had been writing to her, but his train had run into trouble and he was unable to meet her that day.

Can Annie find it in her heart to forgive Thackery for his disappearance? Or will her loyalty to Stewart House cause her to turn down the only love she ever knew?

This has to be one of my favorite books in the Stewart House Brides series. This one is about Annie. After Beverley left in the last book Annie finally has her dorm room by herself. She misses her friends but she likes the solitude for a bit.

One morning the train brings in a lot of customers as always which Annie loves. One young mad was paying her some attention and it made her feel good. The left her a good tip and left.

We learn why Annie has been working at the Stewart house for almost a year. She came to meet her intended at the train station. They were to meet halfway. He never showed and she noticed Stewart house.

The young farm hand she met a few days ago is now back and he ask her name and he tells her his. How does he know Annie? Should she meet him like he wants?

Another great book by the author. Clean and sweet like the others and we do see the other characters again which is nice to see how they are doing as well. A fun read.

I received a book for my honest review.

Annie O'Brien works as one of the waitresses at Stewart House.
Nearly a year ago, she had traveled from Massachusetts to Wallace, Kansas, promising to find her fiance, James, who had exchanged letters for a while.
But when Annie arrived at the train station, James never showed up.
Luckily, she got lodging and work at Stewart House, and was happy with her independent situation.

Each time a train arrived, many passengers drove to Stewart House for a meal, and the place began to become famous.
One of the clients ends up being a very handsome man, who liked the care of Annie. In the end, when she hands him the bill, he admits he could not read.

The next day he returns and introduces himself.
He was James Thackery Prescott, the man who should have met her months ago.

Thackery did not live in Wallace. The two of them had agreed to meet there in the middle of the road, but his train, on that occasion, suffered breakdowns and he could not make it in time for their meeting. Since he did not know where she had gone, or even write, he took that time searching for her.
Now, he was there keeping the proposal months ago, to get married.

Annie wanted to get married, but she liked her independent life.
However, she knew that her job at Stewart was a one-year contract, and it would soon come to an end.
After so long without contact, could Annie trust Thackery to start a new life together?
