“These aliens are seven feet tall and so strong they can throw a spear accurately further than we can shoot. We can kill them when they get closer if they haven’t already killed all of us first!”
- Captain Melissa Rossi, CO, Falcon Company, 2nd Battalion, Colonial Rangers, New Hope Colony, Tau Ceti 4, France
“Dese girls are tougher dan dey look. Dey had to carry dead bodies an clean up blood an brains an not vun uf dem quit!”
- Veronika Tchachenko, Russia, Assistant Director of Student Travel and Transportation, New Hope Academy
The Rift have begun their invasion of the New Hope colony. They have shot down the 850-foot long transport Cairo which crashed in a mountain valley with CDR Rick Cassidy and GSGT Molly Pickford and 50 female students from the New Hope Academy. The aliens have taken Southport and set their sights on their next target, New Cancun, as thousands of refugees pour into the western settlements.
Back on Earth Rick Cassidy’s family gathers at the family home to celebrate Kelly’s commissioning as a major in Colonial Security and to discuss Stellar Enterprise’s plans for the New Hope colony. Chloe tells her that she wants to go on to the colony earlier than planned to help manage the family businesses there. She’ll be going on Australia in seven weeks with her sister Nicole whose Ranger detachment will be leaving for the colony. Rick’s daughter Ciara is already on her way their on the Asia and his sister Bridget is a Lieutenant in Colonial Security on the way to the colony on the Marco Polo.
On the Rift flagship Expeditionary Force Commander General Osmu’a reviews the progress of his campaign to retake the planet and realizes that the transport that was fired upon must have gotten a warning message out before they had destroyed the alien communications satellites. He had been counting on taking thousands of the alien invaders captive to use as a food source for the thousands of primitive and voracious Andoval. Further operations were going to be delayed by the need to gather food for his army. Preparing for an alien attack on New Cancun and the communications satellites down Colonel Fox sends a recon shuttle to Southport to see what has been going on there. Six companies of Colonial Rangers set up defenses at the bridges on the two rivers the aliens must cross to reach New Cancun while the evacuation of the settlement’s 8,000 inhabitants begin to be evacuated. At the mountain valley crash site where the Cairo came down Rick Cassidy and Molly Pickford begin to organize the survivors. Most of the crew and some of the New Hope Academy staff members died in the crash. All of the fifty female students and interns survived but some are injured. Medical officer Major Maya Scott takes charge of the injured.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Staten Island, NY. Mike has a BS in Business Admin from Wagner College and an MBA from SDSU. A retired US Navy Lieutenant Commander, Supply Corps (Logistics), a former small business owner, and part-time substitute teacher. he's visited 6 continents and 36 countries, speak Spanish, some German, a little Italian and a little less French. He currently lives in Chula Vista, CA with his wife Chris.
The action really heats up in this fourth volume of the Fierce Girls series. The aliens are advancing and the Rangers are scrambling to slow them down long enough to let them evacuate huge sections of the human population from the warzone. Adams is great at showing how confusing the situation is—especially since the aliens took out the communications satellites. All those characters he’s been slowly introducing over the last three books are getting their moments in the spotlight and it looks quite probable that most of them are not going to survive.
While all of this is happening, the two people I think of as Adam’s principle heroes (Rick Cassidy and Molly Pitchford) have to figure out how to save the lives of 50 high school girls and a little more than a dozen adults who have crashed with their shuttle a thousand miles deep in hostile wilderness. This second storyline is genius, because it lets Adams develop two very different types of adventure stories. The first half of the book is all military problems, but this second half is in many ways far more concerning. I think any of us can imagine what it would be like to be trapped in the middle of the Amazon with a bunch of high school kids. Even well trained men and women would have a hard time surviving, and that’s the situation facing Rick and Molly. They are going to have to force these kids to grow up fast if any of them have a hope of getting out alive.
Can’t wait to get to the next novel to see how our two sets of heroes are going to solve their very different problems.
This series has me on the edge of my seat! So much is happening as everyone is trying to put plans into place and keep everyone safe. It’s really cool to see everyone trying to work together despite being so far away. Military plans and action along with a great storyline will keep you engaged. Have I mentioned how much I love Rick and Molly yet? I call them the dynamic duo. There is nothing they can’t handle together! While there’s a ton of action scenes, there’s a great storyline and drama. Oh and I can’t forget the science fiction and technology aspects!
This book will hook you and won’t let you go until the end. Action, aliens, and survival make for a highly entertaining story. Start this series today! I give this 5 stars.

I like this series. I personally don't care about the thoughts and social upbringing of the adversary if it takes more than two pages. I just skipped most of that chapter when I got bored. There is a serious continuity error that interjects almost a chapter that does not fit. It would take someone with a detailed plot line to figure out where that text belongs, I suspect either very early or in the previous book.
