And Maddie Clayton is going to collect. This time Carlos and Logan have gone too far. People are dead, lives have been changed, and she’s had enough. Plus, she’s got the Devil on her side, so when an enemy turns into a friend with an idea of how to take Carlos down, she’s in.
Tyler Morgan has been fighting back his whole adult life. He’s ready for anything when it comes to payback. But endangering Maddie can’t be part of the deal. Unfortunately for him, once Maddie gets an idea in her head, there’s no stopping her.
Her debt has been paid in blood and she wants revenge.
His fight is still there, but now he’s got more at stake than himself.
The end is coming.
But even if they win against Carlos, they can still lose each other.
J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.
So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.
She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.
I'm seriously loving this side of Maddie. It's like she is tired of all the crap that is happening in her life and she's taking control back. She's feisty and maybe a little bit crazy, but that's what is making her such a great heroine.
Tyler is just plain crazy. I love how he can make me laugh in the middle of a very serious situation. He's crazy about Maddie and I love that he will walk through fire for her...literally. These two together make sense in all the chaos.
I almost feel sorry for Carlos. Logan, not so much. I like the depth we are getting with Raven and Brandon is just intriguing.
I'm very curious about the last book. This almost ended with closure but I'm sure this writing duo will come up with more crazy antics for us. I'm looking forward to it! ARC provided by Authors.
As per the previous two books in this series, this is a fast paced exciting read.
Maddie is out for blood and is willing to put her own life on the line to get the revenge she craves. Tyler is not quite as on board with her plan but after a bit of convincing and a few safe guards in place he puts his faith in her to make the right choices.
However, the best laid plans go askew if not everyone is following them and this leads to huge problems for all of them.
Book three in the Original Sin Series kicks off and this book is full of action. We’ve gotten to know the characters in book one, we’ve seen them begin their journey through book two and it’s finally time to start watching them fight back for what they want.
The Huss/McClain partnership is a new experience for fans of JA Huss and her independent titles. While her style is still present, this series is so different at the same time.
Tyler is such an odd character. It’s hard to not like him. He’s strange but endearing.
It was almost like these two crazy characters have reached the end of their rope. It’s an all or nothing situation – the risk is there – but they’re still willing to fight for it.
A thrilling ride as this story reaches it peak and I can’t wait to see how it all wraps up.
“We are unified. We are bound. We are one. And no one has to declare it. We know.”
Tyler and Maddie absolutely OWN me in every possible way! Their story is complex, sexy, beautiful, emotional, exciting, INSANE, and I love every single second of it! FLESH INTO FIRE is book #3 of this amazing rollercoaster ride of a series and it just keeps getting better and better. There are plenty of ups and downs, wins and losses, destruction and tragedy, but one thing stays constant. It’s that deep down, beneath all the bullshit that busts into their lives, these two belong together. They started out at a disadvantage, but fate is pulling them closer and closer. Their love and their bond grows deeper and more powerful. They can get through anything together, and I believe they are learning that more and more with every new obstacle that stands in their way.
This writing duo is pure magic in what they do. The writing flows seamlessly, the plot grows thicker but it still ends up being an easy read. There are so many sides to these characters and you just can’t help but fall even harder for them with each new release. FLESH INTO FIRE was an AMAZING addition to this series, so entertaining, so addicting. I’m not sure I’ll ever get enough, and with the conclusion to their story coming up soon with the last book, I’m not sure what the hell I’m gonna do with myself when it’s all over! I hope these two NEVER stop writing together!
This is the ride that only gets crazier and crazier. I mean, it takes off on page one and doesn't let up. Not even a little.
I'm at the point in the series where I can't really say anything without it spoiling all the things. I mean, one little word in the wrong place and I spoil the first two books. One little word and I spoil this book. I don't want that.
Not. At. All.
What I want is for you to pick up this series. I want you to grab Sin With Me and then fall in love with Scarlett and Ford Aston. Er...I mean, Tyler and Maddie. Yes, fall in love with Tyler and Maddie. I think you'll find that they are worth the crazy.
And out of left field you'll find yourself liking a few secondary characters. Ricky DEA, for one. Raven, for two. This book takes a sharp turn from holy-fuck-this-is-fucking-nuts to holy-fuck-what-the-fucking-fuck.
I'm not ready for book four. I want it, but I'm not ready for this craziness to end. I can't do it.
This review was originally posted on (un)Conventional Bookviews *I received a free copy of [title] from [publisher] via Author. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review, which is honest and unbiased *Flesh Into Fire brought Maddie back into more danger than Tyler could take - which made things extremely difficult for both of them!
Story: Flesh Into Fire is the third installment in power-duo Huss McClain's Original Sin series, and I was sadly not fully satisfied with this story. Some parts felt a bit rushed to me, and the overall story didn't move forward as much as I would have liked. The character development is rather slow as well. Tyler has evolved quite a bit, but he still needs work. And Maddie is still almost the same as she was in the first book.
I had a bit of trouble pinpointing why I wasn't as excited about Flesh Into Fire as I was when it came to Sin With Me. Chatting with my dear blogger-wife, I figured it out though. I think it was the sex scenes. It is very rare for me to say this, but here, there were times when the sex didn't bring anything to the overall story. And I actually found myself skimming some parts. I even rolled my eyes a bit at one point. Because the situation Tyler and Maddie was in should not have made them want to tear each other's clothes off.
The story did move forward, though, and Flesh Into Fire wasn't bad. It just wasn't as good as the first book. I am still excited about Passion Rising which will be out in the beginning of May, and keep my fingers crossed I'll love it. Writing style : Flesh Into Fire is written in dual perspectives with chapters from either Tyler's or Maddie's point of view, and in first person, present tense. The pace is rather fast, even when Tyler gets wordy. And the writing is really good - with dialogues that have some incredible one-liners that made me laugh out loud.
Good thing I never considered becoming a priest. For, like, a hundred reasons, but the collar thing is one of them.
I don't believe in heroes, but if you held a gun to my head and told me that I had to pick someone to claim as my personal hero, it'd have to be Evan Silver. (Actually, if you held a gun to my head and told me to do anything, I'd tell you to go fuck yourself, but privately, inside, I'd be saying Evan Silver was my hero.)
He reaches me with his outstretched hand and I grab his palm, twist his wrist, kick the inside of his thigh, and the next thing I know, he's flat on his back and I have my knee dangerously close to his fucking balls. Emily gasps, Tyler claps and shouts, "Fuck yeah, baby!" And Ricky stares up at me with a loook that's half-surprised, half-impressed ans says, "OK, then. And which was that? Aikido? Ju-Jitsu? Wing Chun...?" [...] "Pretty sure that was just Maddie Clayton."
Book 4 in this series is a continuation of the turbulent lives of Tyler and Maddie as they try to make their relationship work. With Maddie dealing with with the fallout of her past and Tyler trying to put his own demons to rest they both try and put their lives on the right pathway. I really loved this series Tyler is such a sweetheart and the two characters are absolute soul mates who deserve to find their happily ever after. The sex in this series is very hot but also very rough, raw and dirty.
“SPOILER FREE Review of Flesh Into Fire & Passion Rising”
‘We are connected by something more powerful than shared sorrow. And every moment we’ve spent apart has been valuable. Necessary. Critical.’
‘Our bodies back together. His arms around me. My back pressed against his chest. Our hearts beating. Keeping time. Becoming what we were always meant to be.’
We decided to read Flesh into Fire and Passion Rising in one hit as we just couldn’t face another cliff-hanger involving our beloved couple, Maddie and Tyler. Now that all four books are out you don’t have to worry about this, so if you’ve not started this series yet, what’re you waiting for? There’s no excuse now because this writing duo nailed it, best we’ve read in a while and our favourite writing duo to date!
‘Thank you, angel. Thank you for everything. I’m sorry it all worked out this way. But it’s OK. I love you. I’ll see you again.’
This is one of those series’ that’ll hit you, grab you and stay with you long after reading. You’ll both laugh and cry, be gripped by the suspense and get very hot under the collar from the passion. You’ll fall in love with Maddie and Tyler who each begin their very own unique personal journey in book one which we felt every bit the part of as they grew tremendously and moved from a dark existence into the light. They both made important self-realisations as we moved through the books that would calm their inner storm, quieten their inner demons and removing the self-imposed pain. Grief and self-blame is a heavy burden to shoulder as both Maggie and Tyler realise when their fractured souls begin a journey of healing through remembrance and shared memories. Whilst each have their own strengths which build through this series, together they are stronger and this unconventional romance will steal your heart for so many reasons.
‘We’ve been through more in the last two months than most people endure in a lifetime and we’re still here and still able to tell the tale. Not that we will.’
Maddie is just becoming stronger and stronger, coming into her own realising that she can change her life. Taking risks by making things right whilst at the same time opening her heart to new opportunities and above all love. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing her grow and realising what a fierce and lovable quirky woman she truly is.
‘I realize that life with Tyler Morgan will never be boring. That much seems incredibly evident. But life is unpredictable no matter what we do to try to put rules in place to keep it from feeling that way. At least with Tyler the unpredictability doesn’t seem scary. With him, as much as is possible, the unpredictability feels safe.’
Tyler has to be one of our favourite heroes. Broken, frivolous with his life, reacting with his heart with no thought of consequence. His inner monologue wins hands down as one of the most entertaining we’ve read. He’s a complex character, quite philosophical and once again his growth through this series was so well written.
‘…for a long time I was in pain, but didn’t show it. What was actually pain got masked by shit that made it look different. On my best days it was just, like, ennui or lethargy or whatever. Just a listless kind of boredom that projected to the world that I didn’t care. Most of the time, it was just me looking like an asshole. But I never let the actual pain show through. Anger’s funny that way. It’s almost never a sincere emotion. It’s usually a secondary emotion. A defence mechanism that kicks in to cover fear, or sorrow, or pain, or anxiety. In my case, all of the above.’
Flesh into Fire was a more introspective instalment in this series despite the adrenaline fuelled moments. We felt it to be a build up to the final crescendo where Maddie and Tyler self-analysed and had to work through not only their own individual issues yet also them as a couple. The beginnings of the end of one era if you will in order to begin anew. There were revelations, drama, passion and conflict as our couple needed to find their place. But first the obstacles needed to be dealt with.
‘Every twenty-four hours there’s a new opportunity for a fresh start.’
Passion Rising was our favourite book in this series for so many reasons. The most important was the intensity of emotion we experienced alongside Maddie and Tyler. They were both tested to the max physically and emotionally as they reached the end of an arduous and violent journey. Like a phoenix rising out of the fire both Maddie and Tyler shed the past in order to live a future on their terms, realising what makes up ‘their happy’, deciding what love truly means.
‘We will hold each other forever and then some. We don’t have to say it. We don’t have to say a word. It simply is. I love her. She loves me. And we will hold each other. Now and always. We will never let go.’
The writing of JA Huss and Johnathan McClain was stellar, it had such depth, was truly flawless and had us laughing, crying and gripping our kindles. It was compelling and thrilling. It was dark yet had such tremendous moments of humour which broke up the dark with rays of lightness. We are exhausted but in that wonderful way when you know you’ve just read a series that will forever be in your heart. We truly hope this author duo will write together again and we’ll be first in line waiting. Do yourselves a favour and pick this series up. You won’t regret it!
The Original Sin Series is complete and available to purchase below
I am thoroughly hooked on the Original Sin series. I’m one of those readers that continually looks at the current page or the percentage of the book read. I don’t know why but I’ve done that since I was a kid. (Of course, as my kids always remind me, in the olden days there was only a page count.) The problem with doing that while reading a series,is that I continually think, just a couple more pages and I will know what happens next. Then when I get near the end, I start thinking, slow down you are going to die waiting for what happens next.
Flesh Into Fire is the third book in JA Huss and Johnathan McClain’s Original Sin series. This book picks up immediately after Angels Fall . The tense plot continues to build. Maddie is determined to continue with her plan for revenge and Tyler is anxious while remaining supportive. The couple is trying to develop their relationship while dealing with their dangerous plans. This installment of the story is fast-paced, filled with action-packed twists and turns.
There are moments that I literally held my breath waiting for the plan to fall apart. There are times when I don’t know who to trust or what is real. The story continues in the alternating points of view of Tyler and Maddie. I love these characters, and the more we get into their story, the more I love them. At one point, I experienced goosebumps, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath before continuing to read.
I can’t wait for the final book in the series, Passion Rising . I know this duo is planning a big finish. I’m anxious, excited, and eager to know what happens next. I have a feeling about someone who may be an unexpected “bad guy,” but I’ve read enough Huss books, to know that I can’t always predict what is going on in her head. I do hope that this team continues their partnership because they write exciting suspense. Come on May 8, I need Passion Rising . If you are a fan of romantic suspense, you must read this series. Flesh Into Fire is a great ride that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. In the mean time, I will have the audio for Angels Fall to ease the wait.
Wow! Things really get deep in this next installment of The Original Sins series. I loved every moment of it!
While Madison is dealing with the repercussions of Carlos’ actions, Tyler remains by her side. When they are both suddenly confronted with a twist in their circumstances, Tyler is adamant that they stay out of the situation. However, Madison needs this. It’s time she takes a positive step forward to prove that’s she’s more than the failures that have highlighted her adulthood.
As things go from zero to sixty in just a matter of pages, clues are dropped that perhaps things were not as coincidental regarding Maddie’s position at Pete’s. Tyler is on a rampage to protect the woman he loves and Maddison is just trying to get through the next day, hour, minute.
I loved the dynamics of this couple as they work together, and with a bit of help from a surprising source, to bring an end to Carlos. Tyler’s so freaking hilarious at times and Maddie totally gets him even when in the midst of chaos.
This one ends on a softer note. No dramatic cliffhanger. But we are still unsure what awaits this couple as they face the future. Things obviously are never what they seem in JA Huss and now Johnathan McClain’s fictional world. I can’t wait to find out what it is!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Holy guacamole, will Tyler and Maddie ever catch a break?!?! These two are like a magnet for trouble and I don't mean the odd bit odd strife here and there. I'm talking fires, guns, explosions and a whole army of bad men who've got it in for this crazy couple.
"Flesh into Fire" was a fab penultimate instalment in the "Original Sin" series where: The funny got even funnier The suspense got even more suspenseful The hot got hotter The drama got even more dramatic The twists got even twistier
But ultimately, I will say that we did get some answers and we did get some closure on some of the shenanigans this pair got themselves embroiled in.... or did we? I wish I could say for certain that that was the case. It sure felt that way but knowing JA Huss, anything is possible and she could quite easily throw a spanner in the works with her partner in crime Mr McClain in the final part to Tyler and Maddie's story.
Are this couple ready to close the door on the past? Have the dealt with all the baggage they'd initially bought to the table? Can they really start afresh with a clean slate or is trouble destined to follow them around like a bad smell for the rest of their lives? Bring on "Passion Rising" on 8th May 2018!!!! I rated "Flesh into Fire" ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The fall out from the tragic fire at Pete's is taking it's toll on Maddie and Tyler. Maddie knows her time is up with Carlos. She is done playing nice and she is ready for revenge and payback for the loss of her friends.
When faced with the opportunity to help bring Carlos and his empire crumbling she does not hesitate. Maddie decides to take both her Angel and Devil and go for it. Tyler is not 100% on board with this but knows he needs to let her do this.
Maddie's brilliant feistiness is her key to survival. She is going to play the game with Carlos and get what she needs. If all goes to plan it will be quick and dirty. Yet in Maddie's world nothing is that easy and Tyler is a factor in the equation all of his own making! Even with danger at every turn, Tyler continues to bring his outrageous wit and humor at the most inappropriate times.
With a burning desire, nothing is going to get in the way of loving each other any longer.
A super sexy thrill ride that is not to be missed.
Here we are at book #3 in the Original Sin series and this wild ride just keeps getting better and better. Flesh Into Fire is truly the most explosive installment yet with Tyler and Maddie and their off-kilter relationship full of incredible intrigue and all kinds of danger. These two clearly attract crazy and you can't help but fall even harder for them.
With Carlos Castillo still pulling the strings that lead to Maddie's freedom and ultimate happiness, it's anyone's guess just how far she will take her ruse in order to bring him down once and for all. And boy, does this book get intense! When a former adversary suddenly becomes an ally, things go from mildly desperate to off the charts desperate. But through it all, the love remains between Tyler and Maddie and they surprise both the reader and themselves as they continue to consummate it at the most inopportune of times. But that is what makes them so damn enchanting. You can't help but want to cheer them on.
AND I am forever in awe at how McClain and Huss use their wicked humor to keep this story-line unique. Between Tyler's seemingly insane inner thoughts and the Angel and Devil who sit forever perched on Maddie's shoulders, I'm still shaking my head by the way I'm chuckling through all the mayhem.
Truly a must read series that you have to start from the beginning, I look forward to seeing how this journey plays out with the final book coming out soon. I have really enjoyed the seamless writing from McClain and Huss and can't recommend it highly enough.
After a less exciting second instalment, here comes the revenge of the third book . . . My knees were bouncing with impatience because I had it in my heart this series would pick right up and boy, was I right?
Full of danger, guessing, twists, and menacing surroundings—not to mention the crazy bad guys—the plot took a turn that kept me engaged and totally intrigued. Also, my attachment to some minor characters might have escalated into adoration for a few. Seriously, it seems like there is no one—good or bad—in this story that won’t grab your attention, or make you feel something for a reason or another. As a reader, I obviously crave a bond with the main characters, but I truly cherish any kind of connection with the minor ones, especially since that doesn’t happen as much as we’d like. The interest we have in everyone here runs high during the whole read, but so does the suspense while Tyler and Maddie enter the ‘devil’s lair’ trying to put an end to his reign. Can they really fool Carlos and get out of such a scary life-threatening situation alive?
Packed with action, intrigue, and that awesome Tyler dose of humour that never stops delighting the reader, Flesh Into Fire is an unputdownable book! Passion is Rising indeed, and I surely can’t wait to read what Huss and McClain have planned for the big finale.
I received a free copy of this book from the Author for an honest review. This does not affect in any way my opinion of the book nor the content of my review—originally posted on Darkest Sins.
I’m in love with Tyler. I love when he rambles, his inner talkings are fantastics. He is the most lovable crazy guy !!!
Maddie and Tylers relationship grows in this books. And is a pleasure to see them together
In this book Maddie is blinded but rage and wants revenge and that makes her do as usual some pretty stupid, fierce and funny things and the best is Tyler helps her and support her 100%. They cause such much caos is really funny to see.
In this book also we can learn a little more os their enemy and some new friends.
This story keeps getting better and better.
So I can’t wait to read the next and see how they are gonna do with so much trouble
I did not expect this story. Didn't expect where these two authors would bring their readers, especially after the evens that happened during the second book of the Original Sins series. JA Huss and Johnatha McClain are really interesting together - their point of views are nothing that i could have imagined, nor is it like anything i could have imagined. You'd think that a male's point of view would be crass and methodotic, but in reality, it's just all over the place! That's Tyler. Getting the chance to be more in his head, to get right down to how he feels about Maddie, and how far he'd go to protect her; yeah, twenty thumbs up for that.
In Flesh into Fire, we really get into Maddie and how her quest for revenge for the wrongdoings that have been done to her and well, that woman is maybe a little insane, a whole lot of determined and just a tad too willing to do just about anything to get what she wants and needs. After the emotional coaster ride that we've been through, this book was refreshing. Still emotional, but there was action and suspense that kept me at the edge of my seat.
Knowing that there's only one book left in this series, trust me, i'm really, really curious and anxious to find out just what'll happen between Maddie and Tyler - are they really fated to be together for the rest of their lives? Will they make it through the paces that Carlos puts them through? So many questions and i know that it'll be all answered through that last book.
Only these two - only Maddie and Tyler - could find themselves up to their ears in this much crazy.
Things have come to a head with Mexican drug lord Carlos and his menace of a nephew Logan, and Maddie is finished hiding away from the problem, working herself and her soul to the bone for what she knows is a futile effort. Her happiness is going to be hard fought and hard won, and it's going to happen with Tyler by her side.
For the first time in the Original Sin series, the main thrust of the story is not Tyler and Maddie figuring out their relationship. They're there. Maddie has given up the fight and recognized what Tyler knew all along - that they were made to be together. And that no matter what, he's never leaving her again.
Unfortunately, that makes Maddie's desire to go undercover in Carlos' compound not Tyler's favorite plan.
Both Tyler and Maddie are trying desperately to hold on to the slice of happiness that they've found in each other. Both of them were without that kind of happy for so very long. They were both at the bottom of the barrel, and now they've clawed to the top, found a partner, and are ready to take a break from the bad.
It's weird to be on such equal ground with someone. Someone's... partner, I guess. But it's completely awesome at the same time.
But, their methods of finding that new life together are very different. While Tyler is the brawler who has never backed down from a fight, he is the one who would be perfectly content to fly to a deserted island somewhere and never come home. Maddie, on the other hand, wants to be able to look at herself in the mirror every day. She wants to actively fight for the life she wants, and if that means she might die in the process, well then, at least she went down fighting the good fight.
Seeing this dynamic shift between them was really interesting, and I thought it showed an enormous amount of growth in their relationship. They haven't even been together for very long (although, they knew each other for years growing up), and while they spent the first few weeks fighting their attraction - at least Maddie did - now that they know in their souls that this is it, it's like everything has changed for them. And I love that.
Some people search their whole life looking for that one place they belong. For that one person who gets them. Who brings them into their world, lets them fall easily into the pull of their gravity, and lets them just... be. Just exist. Quietly. Naturally. Freely. This is Tyler for me. The center of my universe. The man around whom I now orbit.
I mentioned craziness - there's plenty of that in Flesh on Fire too. Maddie's in a ton of danger nearly from the very beginning of the book as she enters Carlos' compound under false pretenses. There are fights and explosions and near misses and - once again - fires. And, although this book does come to more of a definite close than the first two books in this series, there's some pretty big loose ends left flapping around that I'm sure will lead us into the final book in the series.
I can't wait to see what insane thing Maddie and Tyler will do to punctuate this fun, sexy and exciting series.
Flesh into Fire is the intense third installment of JA Huss and Johnathan McClain’s Original Sin Series. When Ricky, the henchman, approaches Maddie, readers have to know book 3 was going to be action-packed from the start. I didn’t anticipate just how romantic and angsty Huss and McCain would make it as well.
Maddie and Tyler are a match made in Heaven…or perhaps Hell. Their chemistry is off the charts. The authors have created characters who feel real. They’re not perfect, but they’re perfect for each other. Authors Huss and McClain have so realistically presented characters who have known each other their entire lives; the dialogue flows effortlessly and depicts the familiarity between the characters. In Flesh Into Fire, readers are treated to “fed-up and I’m not going to take it anymore” Maddie. Her fiery temper is equal to her flaming red hair. Tyler continues his existential pondering that is sometimes thought provoking but most often hilarious as his mind wanders in a loopy circuitous path.
Amazingly, Huss and McClain have made their chief villain almost likable. Yes, I realize how hard it is to fathom that a drug trafficker and crime lord could have some good traits, but the authors truly have presented Carlos Castillo as having some manners and a few marginally redeeming traits. On the other hand, his henchmen don’t seem to possess morals, conscience, or manners. Secondary characters Raven and Brandon get a little more interesting in Flesh into Fire, and I hope to get more of their story in the final installment, Passion Rising (due out May 2018).
Flesh into Fire could easily have been the conclusion to this story; however, Maddie and Tyler have only battled their present-day threat. They still have a lot of past errors-in-judgment to address before they can hope for a happily-ever-after together. Flesh Into Fire manages to be humorous and romantic, while being an action-packed thriller at heart. I cannot wait to see how my predictions line up with Huss and McClain’s final installment of this scorching series.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He Loves Me. He just said he loves me. He said it before, but it was desperate, from a place of panic. This is different. He's not panicked. He's worried. Because he loves me. I smile but turn my head into the couch to hide it. It's not like I set out to seduce him. It’s not like I've been dreaming of a Tyler and Maddie Wedding since I was eight. Really. But I've always loved him. In different ways throughout the years, but love is love. He was,...the perfect brother's-best-friend crush when I was a kid. I have always thought him cute. He was skinny once. Lanky and lean, more like a runner or something cyclist. Not bulked up like a soldier. But that was a long time ago. Tyler grew up first, it seemed. Before Scotty or Evan. He just...burst into manhood when all the other kids were still boys. He became tall before my eyes. He filled in. Started lifting weights in his garage. He was the first to grow a beard, and that makes me smile even wider. It was a stupid beard. And I made fun of him. But he never took it personally. It was a joke. Something sweet. Like the way he called me Mads and made fun of my temper. Something just between us.
Wow. Holy hell. Oh man.... each book just keeps getting better and better, more intense, more explosive, just more everything!
Maddie and Tyler are deep into trying to figure out how to solve this Carlos Castillo problem when a solution presents itself to them. Only, it might not benefit THEM as much as it's going to benefit "the man" aka the DEA. But hey, what is one civilian casualty if the government gets what they need? Maddie agrees to help them, because deep down she feels like this is what she's supposed to do. Maybe this is her purpose in life, her chance to finally do something right. But with her track record of every endeavor she's launched going bad, will this be the one time things actually go right?
Tyler is beside himself over this whole scheme. Which leads to even more internal dialogue, which is sometimes hilarious but oftentimes very poignant. He puts his own plan into motion when Maddie doesn't contact him as promised. The saying, "fortune favors the brave" kept repeating in my head while reading. Tyler was nothing if not brave during this part of the story. I was not, with my heart in my throat and my stomach in knots, waiting to see what was going to happen.
What resonated so strongly during everything happening was, what a united front Maddie and Tyler have become, which I don't think even they realized until they were in the thick of it. Both are headstrong and resilient, and as they are each doing what needs to be done to get out of this mess, their thoughts are of each other, and how desperate they are to be together again.
Some pretty heavy shit happens (again) and it involves fire (again) and Tyler (again) and I was literally holding my breath at certain parts. I wasn't sure I was going to make it through it, but I did and now I'm dying to see how this whole story is going to wrap up in Passion Rising. What more can these two be put through? I'm almost scared to know!
Book 3 of a series, the prior two MUST be read before Flesh into Fire. Following along with Maddie and Tyler, Flesh into Fire is the third part of their story. I feel like everything I loved is a spoiler. Let me just say it’s exciting, intense, and absolutely captivating.
The characters continue to be strong and determined. The story is refreshing and different. I can not wait for the conclusion of the Original Sin series and Maddie and Tyler’s story.
This series just gets better and better. Once I started reading I didn’t want to stop. I couldn’t wait too see what was going to happen with Maddie & Tyler and I was 100% not disappointed. I absolutely love Tyler, Tyler will make you swoon and laugh and will definitely be a character you will not forget. Maddie is one tough chick and has had enough and now wants payback. This book has everything danger, revenge, hot sex, an definitely will make you teary eyed and I loved every minute of this book. Another amazing read that completely held my attention from start to finish.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Tyler and his incessant conversations with himself might be my most favorite part of all from this series yet. He just can't help it so he needs to be talking to himself all the time. And Maddie might be turning into him with her conversations with her Devil and Angel personnas.
But rambling aside, these two have been through so much a$$ kicking already that they deserve to have a happy ending. Let go of all their baggages in life and just frolick into the garden of Eden to have a happy life. Looking forward to ehat is coming next for these lovebirds in the final book.
This book has more suspense and action than the first two and it will suck you right in. Nothing has been easy for Tyler and Maddie and now that the decision has been made to get revenge on Carlos Castillo things are about to take an interesting turn.
Maddie has really grown in this book. She was always strong but she went above her comfort zone and became Superwoman! I’m pleasantly surprised and not so surprised by this.
Tyler has really grown. His love for Maddie is infinite and makes you dream of a love like that. His rambling and sarcasm is still on point. The laugh out loud moments I had was much needed.
I almost thought this was the last book by the way it ended. I felt a little closure but I’m also excited to know that there’s still one more book to go. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Julie and Johnathan are on fire with this series! Each book getting hotter and hotter. You think you know what’s going to happen next but trust me you don’t. These two are unpredictable and you don’t know what they have up their sleeves!
