Not bad writing but this is the longest boring story I have read in awhile. This is just a day to day mantra of a billionaire 45 year old man Andrew and his off and on relationship with a 28 year Guidance Counselor Lannie. She works at his 17 year old daughter Ravens High School.
There is more to the ridiculous relationship between Andrew and his daughter Raven then with the women he is dating Lannie. Every time something goes wrong with his wayward daughter he dumps Lannie. This is ridiculous and way to long. I kept thinking ok this story is going make sense soon but it never does. Andrew and Lannie didn't know at first that Lannie's father was one of Andrews best friends. As you read along it doesn't seem like Andrew and Lannie's father Bob are best friends at all but just acquaintances. There is no real relationship there.
This is a long tedious story to read!! I don't get all the 4 and 5 star reviews!! The story is not horrible but its nothing exciting here at all. Just and older man with a younger women and his 17 year old daughter!!

I really enjoyed the book that the twist that it took at the end but the last 20 or so pages I knew what was coming but a twist nonetheless. I really like the characters in this. I like the fact that hes rich AF but doesn't act like it and I love the character of his daughter Raven. This was a good book and I definitely need to continue reading :)

Can't tell you how many books by Ali Parker I've devoured over the years, but every time I see a new book from her, I just have to get it. My Father's Best Friend is another great story that isn't afraid to cross boundaries. And I love Ali Parker for that.
Andrew Marx is an investment billionaire, a super busy 45-year old widower and a father to a seventeen year old, misunderstood rebellious kid, Raven. Lately, his girl had been acting up at school, picking fights and getting called by the principal. Andrew got his hands full and he didn't have the slightest idea how to deal with her daughter.
New guidance counselor Lanie Jacobs had doubts about her new job in high school. Her first assignment, Raven Marx seemed to be the spoiled rich brat everyone's been thinking about. But she knew there's more about the girl than she was letting on. And when she met Raven's father, she knew her life wouldn't be he same again.
I love how the story was about an older man and a younger professional who defied the odds of falling in love. I love how mature they acted together, although when there were some bumps in the road, one of them freaked out. It was ominous and exasperating when you think about it, being burdened with decisions on what would be best for the two of them, but I guess that's how reality really was. I love how the characters dealt with the circumstances, admitted their shortcomings and learned how to forgive and move forward.
While I enjoyed this book , I must also objectively say that the story became a littler longer than I imagined, to the point that it was dragging towards the end. But this formula worked quite well for me, and thus becoming one of my favorite books by Ali and I'm looking forward for more of her work.

Things get awkward ...will their love last ?
I fell for Lanie and Andrews love affair fast . They were meant for each other .It was a Beautifully written story full of drama and emotions that came about because the characters opened their hearts and bared their souls to one another . Damn they are hot together.
I just adored Raven with all her teenage quirks and issues . I think she tied these two closer together .
You'll also love the secondary characters Erica and Matt from Mrs. Parkers previous series .It's always fun to catch up with your favs .

He's 45, she's 28 and the new counselor at his daughter's school. We're pretty far into the story by the time it's discovered that she's the daughter of his best friend. A best friend he's had for years so I'm not entirely sure how they went so long without seeing each other before? Yes, she went by a nickname so that could be forgiven when he knew his friend had a daughter called by another name but given the closeness of their relationship, the men never had their families together in all those years?

WOW!!!
A well written, easy to follow, gut wretching, heart warming tale of love and relationships. Strong bonds and feeling for the characters that grow and seem so real you'd swear you can just reach out and touch them. Emitions all over the place. I couldn't put it down until the very last word. Its just one story that captures your attention that Ali is becoming to show more of her talents. Great job.

This book had multiple issues. I was 60% and they hadn't had their first date yet, which told me immediately, this was going to be a cliffhanger and there's nothing I hate more than a cliffhanger. I love age gap romances, but this one tried too hard, if that makes sense. There was nothing about it that was memorable and the 'twist' at the end was obvious from the phone conversation he'd had with his 'best friend'. He was such a good friend with the guy that he'd never met his daughter?! No. Give me a break. No. Stop it. I stopped reading at 60%, skimmed it to the end, wasn't shocked by any stretch of the imagination, was annoyed it was a cliffhanger, was mad at myself for putting that much time into it, and found myself glad it was free. If you're looking for a fun, flirty, relaxing father's best friend/age gap romance, you won't find that here. This is a slog that definitely won't have me getting the second 'book' in the 'series'.

Bored out of my mind is a severe understatement. I thought the writers were husband and wife. They’re siblings. Uh, do they collaborate on the sex scenes?Anyone else find that uncomfortable and awkward af?

My Father's Best Friend is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Lanie has given up hope of ever finding love. Andrew has given up on finding love after the tragic loss of his wife 10 years earlier. Raven, Andrew's daughter, is misbehaving and getting into trouble at school. What do these three have in common? Lanie is working as a counselor at Raven's school, where she meets Andrew after calling him in for a conference. There is instant attraction between Lanie and Andrew, despite the fact that Andrew is 27 years older than Lanie. This is definitely not your typical older man, younger woman romance. They definitely have a bumpy ride as Andrew tries to come to grips with his attraction and facing the guilt of neglecting his daughter emotionally since the death of his wife. I'm not going to give away the story, but there are some heartbreaking scenes and plenty of angst as Lanie, Andrew and Raven face some serious circumstances. As with many of Ali Parker's books, this one caught my attention right away with plenty of details about the characters to make me feel connected, even with Andrew's manwhoring friend Saxton, and Lanie's over-protective (but often not attentive) father. I love Lanie's friend, Erica and her relationship with Matt. There is plenty of heart to this story that left me not wanting to put the book down. My only complaint was there were one too many scenes where Andrew or Saxton had been drinking and then got behind the wheel. Having a mother hit by a drunk driver this is a sore spot for me. I get that the characters why the characters were drinking, but I didn't like how it was glossed over that they were driving when they really shouldn't be (especially when there is a scene where Andrew is certain that someone else had been under the influence at the time of an accident AND his wife was killed by a drunk driver if I'm remembering correctly). Otherwise I really enjoyed the story.

A beautifully imperfect love story times two!
I am in awe of feels I still have going on since it has been several hours now since I finished reading this!
Quite the story to get yourself wrapped up in, me being a fan of Ali's, I felt bad for being a bit leery of the length going in. I am all about the details but worried about being bored with fillers. * smacks forehead* I don't know why I would have even doubted her abilities to weave a tale that kept me awake till 3 A.M not physically able to put my Kindle down.
I was apart of the lives of the fascinating, true to life characters she had portrayed; I needed to know how everything fleshed out for Lanie, Rowan, and Andrew!
Just when I thought I was going in the right of the direction of the plot, the mayhem veers off someplace else! For all the heartbreak, and infuriating stubbornness that seems to weave its way into these characters mindsets, even if they think they're doing the right thing. Gah! ( or maybe it's just me, it has been known to happen < clears throat looks away. >) There is copious of wittiness, fun banter, to downright scorching heat- I am talking~ hey, now where did that man come from... and can we have some more of that..?! Along with some pretty sage advice from a teenager here n there that makes me think maybe my teen is capable of ... NAH! Not possible! Just a good reminder of WHY I do read fiction! Ha.
My Father's Best Friend grabbed hold of my head and heart. A story that felt right and was begging to be told, I am so glad I got the chance to read it!
I highly suggest taking a chance on this imperfect, hot, impulsive, maddening, hug it out, putting the pieces back together love story!

Falling For her Was Never So Sweet
Lanie is at the stage she feels that she is "always the bridesmaid and never the bride" But all that changes when she has to have a meeting with one of her student's parents. Andrew is Raven's dad and he is single, wealthy, handsome, charismatic and gorgeous. Any relationship between the two of them should be taboo but they have to meet often as Raven is acting up at school. Lanie realises that there is more going on than Raven merely acting up and tries to suggest ways for Andrew to become closer to Raven. The more they come in contact, the more Andrew is attracted to Lanie and her to him. I thought it was a refreshing touch that when his wife died, Andrew hadn't had a series of affairs in his grief as so many seem to do in the novels at the moment. This is a genuinely romantic story with such sweetness, a compassionate love story and did I mention the sizzling chemistry between Andrew and Lanie?? Oh yes there is - in bucketfuls. So have your fans set to max cool and have a nice long iced drink at hand and switch off your phone. This is a very hot sensuous story and yet it all slows so beautifully and you can almost 'feel' their emotions - the protectiveness, the caring, the humour, the passion [don't forget the passion!] and the desire to do anything for the one they loved. They also worked together and helped Raven and this also helped Raven's relationship with her Dad. This is a story that I will be re-reading in the future as it is so well written by Ali Parker. Come and join in the journey of their love story in this well executed plot with fabulous characters that I genuinely liked. get yourself a copy and I hope you will find it as entertaining as I do. If you are in the mood for a sweet, soulful, sexy novel full of believable characters and a few twists that will have you flipping pages, then do yourself a favor and pick up Ali Parker's newest novel, My Father's Best Friend.
As the story begins we are introduced to Lanie Jacobs who has just landed her perfect job - counselor at South Seattle High School. Not only is it her dream job, it was also her first application for a counseling job and it turns out, she is exactly where she is supposed to be. With her perfect job in place, the only thing she desires now is a relationship filled with passion, thrills and love. Has she used up her good fortune with the job or does fate have another answered prayer in her future?
Lanie's first student counseling session is with Raven Marx...a senior with some behavioral issues which are complicated by a widowed father focused on the continued success of his company. Seems Andrew Marx had distanced his relationships due to the painful loss of his wife ten years earlier. The man might be wealthy and successful, but his heart was still hostage to her loss. When he catches sight of Lanie, something shifts...he finds himself distracted, intrigued and "on fire" for the woman! Seems his heart may be thawing.
There are surprises, emotional complications, age differences and a business issues that complicate matters. All in all, this is a really great story that will hold readers captive right to the end. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up, it's a five star winner.

This is one of those reads that had me in awe. At first I was worried about the length of it with so many chapters and pages but I was surprised that even though it was long, I didn’t notice it. Right from the beginning to the end the story had me hooked with Andrew, Lanie and Andrew’s teenage daughter, Raven. Andrew and Lanie meet when he has a parent/teacher interview with Lanie who is Raven’s school counsellor and has been acting out in school. Lanie notices right away that there is more to their story than a spoiled teenager and advices Andrew how to bridge that gap between the two. The result is Andrew being attracted to Lanie and Lanie to him, and the two pursue dating even though Andrew is seventeen years older. What happens after is a story not to be missed.
An amazing read with steamy sensual scenes, heartache, heartbreak, tears, some hilarious scenes, lust/love, getting priorities straight, and a twist with Lanie’s dad. The story flowed beautifully and I could have kept reading about these two, wishing there was more of them and their HEA.
I loved the fact that Andrew was not a man wh***, and didn’t get over his deceased wife with endless affairs....refreshing. He was the perfect book boyfriend who not only thought of Lanie but also about Raven and how it would affect her. I also loved how they handled every situation together, except the one, but it came altogether perfectly at the end. A read that put a smile on my face and maybe a few tears but it was worth it and it is my favorite from Ali Parker so much so that even though I received an advanced copy....I had to buy it....LOVED IT !!

A start to this billionaire older man/ younger woman romance, but well worth the read.
Andrew is having problems with his 17 year old daughter Raven. He's been a single parent for 10 years, and has been in the typical workaholic mode for years.
Lanie is able to read Raven well and as her school counselor, she suggests Andrew spend more time with his daughter.
Their attraction is immediate and mutual, but a bit taboo considering Andrews current poor relationship with Raven.
Lanie's parents are not happy when she begins dating Andrew. The seventeen year difference bothers them, and they don't even know about her connection with Raven, and Andrew's connection with Lanie's dad.
Even though the age gap was significant, I'm glad the author had Lanie at an accomplished 28 to his 45, rather than her being 19, which would have been icky.
Lots of drama, but in a good way. Their obstacles come in the form of Lanie's mom and the fact that (title is a big clue!) Andrew's very close friend is her dad! Uncomfortable much?
I really liked the way Raven reacted to/with their relationship. I thought she was going to be a deal breaker in this sweet/sexy romance and am happy with the way this all turned out at the end!

I read this book as part of an arc program. I really loved this book! What an emotional read, This was the story of Lanie a young woman who wanted to find love and was starting a career as a high school guidance councilor and called Andrew about his daughter Raven when she keeps getting into trouble. Andrew is a workaholic who is raising his daughter after his wife was killed in a car accident years before. When Lanie suggests Andrew spend more time with Raven and even tells him to take her to an art show because of her interest in art, Andrew agrees and decides to cut back at work. Andrew sees Lanie at the art show and wants to thank her for her help with Raven. Andrew asks Lanie out and they begin seeing each other, even though Andrew is 17 years older than Lanie. Of course the relationship has its share of problems and Andrew has a hard time committing to Lanie. He pushes her away when he realizes Lanie's father is a close friend. Lanie wants to be with Andrew, but he hurt her and they have to learn to trust each other and decide of they really want to be together. This was an emotional book that I couldn't put down. I really loved this book and hated to see it end. Great one.

My Father’s Best Friend has a different feel to it than other books by Ali Parker, it’s about family, love, and commitment. It’s a sweet story about loss and the affects it has on those left behind. It’s about coming back from that loss and finding that you can move on, be happy and find your second chance. It’s absolutely amazing!

One look and they both knew there was a connection between them. The story of these two finding their happiness drew me in, kept me involved and had me rooting for them along the way. The relationship between Andrew and his daughter grew with each page and at the end they became the family they were meant to be.
I accepted an ARC of this book for my review. I have to say that he title if the book didn’t really go with the story itself other than Andrew was Lanie’s dad’s friend. That didn’t play a very big role in the book in my opinion. Nonetheless, amazing as always!

Ali Parker has definitely written a wonderfully emotional book with plenty of ups and downs and a few twists . The storyline is well thought out with some amazing characters. This was a story that just kept you hooked till the very end. A older man with a teenager daughter who is having some problems at school. A younger woman just starting out in her chosen career as a high school counselor. When these two meet you can feel the instant attraction. But it's against the rules after all he is a parent to one of her students. I absolutely loved this story and highly recommend it to anyone who loves a great book with a some drama and secrets and definitely some heat mix in a bit of misunderstandings. The secondary characters were very fun and entertaining they gave alot to this book. I highly recommend this great book you won't be able to put it down. This is one of the most beautiful love stories that I have read. Now, that, of course, does not mean that everything is roses and rainbows through the whole book. It is a very emotional book. I have to say that I shed lots of tears, but it was worth every tear that I shed. Andrew is a billionaire, but not your usual one that is in most books. He is the single father of a 17 year old girl. Her mother, and his wife, had been killed in a car accident, when she was young. He has not been in a relationship since. Then, he meets Lanie, who is his daughter's guidance counselor. There is a 17 year age difference between them, but that does not matter to either of them. There are lots of ups and down, but with these, comes some of the best writing that I have read. Ali Parker pulls you into this story, and keeps you there, not letting you go, and you do not want to go. I do not just highly recommend this book, I think it is a must read.

I thoroughly enjoyed My Father's Best Friend. It was frustrating at times but difficult to put down with a well written characters portraying real issues. A bonus to me was that my edition was followed by the addition of My Creative Billionaire, which was excellent and as well written as My Father's Best Friend.
What drew me in even more to My Creative Billionaire was that I am a painter who has not painted in years. I'm not in the caliber as Matt and Erica were portrayed (not even close) but reading of their creativity has encouraged me to get my paints and get back to it.
Although both are great stand-alone books, I would have loved to read My Creative Billionaire first as it introduced Lanie in My Father's Best Friend. Regardless of the order of my read, both were filled with characters with flaws and a longing for love and I enjoyed both equally.

Amazing - a must read

My Father’s Best Friend is a fantastic well written story. I loved it! Lani is the new high school guidance counselor. One of her students is acting out at school, she finds out its from a lack of attention at home. Raven’s mom died 10 years ago and her dad is a workaholic. Lani and Andrew first meet at a Parent-Teacher conference. They have an instant connection and their chemistry is off the charts. Lani suggest to Andrew he spend more time with his daughter. Not only did Lani help mend Andrew’s relationship with his daughter, she became a mother figure to Raven. It’s such a beautifully written story with so many twists and turns. It captured me from the beginning and could not put it down. I definitely recommend it. I received an ARC for an honest review.

This book makes you feel so many emotions and doesn't stop until the very end. Well written touching storyline and wonderful characters that are very relatable. Andrew Marx is CEO of Marx Investments which is the top investment company in the country. He is a single father raising his teenage daughter Raven. Lanie Jacobs is the new Guidance Counselor at South Seattle High School. Andrew and Lanie met during a parent teacher conference regarding Raven. Ali Parker is an extremely talented author who has written so many wonderful books with creative storylines and fantastic characters. I definitely recommend this amazing book for you to read. This is not your typical older man, younger woman love story. Andrew and Lanie's story transcends any preconceived notions you have. Lanie is a new high school counselor who is challenged to help a teen with anger issues who keeps getting in trouble at school. Enter Andrew, as he is the single father of this teen. The sparks fly between the two at their first parent conference. They struggle with their attraction, with becoming a family, and then with the knowledge that Andrew and Lanie's father have been friends for years. There are twists and turns, laughter, steamy sex, and a HEA in this book that you will not want to miss. I received an advanced readers copy of this book and am gladly leaving a review.

There is a lot of book here, and all of it with the typical Parker flair for detail and emotion. Be prepared to sacrifice your day to this story, because once you get started reading you’re not going to want to set the book down. And you remember that flair for emotions I mentioned? Keep the tissues handy, just in case. If you’re a gooey marshmallow like me, or even the least bit soft hearted, you’re going to need those tissues before the end. Andrew, Lanie and Raven are fascinatingly complex characters who suck you deep into their story until you feel like you’re living their lives with them. I cried their tears over their heartbreaks and felt their joy in their triumphs.

If I had it to do over I wouldn't have started this book. First, I didn't realize it was one book of 4 books. I try to stay away from book that have continuations. Although, this wasn't a bad story, no I will not be fooled in to buying 3 more books just to finish this story. Like I said the story wasn't that bad but some things didn't add up. The h acted like she didn't care about the H being rich which is fine but during all that time she never let it known that her father was similar to the H. Rich and worked a lot. This was only given at the end of the book. Like I said I will not be purchasing the other books to know the ending. I will just find a better stand alone way better to forget this one. I'm sure it won't be hard.

This delightful story grabs you right from the first page. Andrew is a widower with a teenage daughter. Raven was a little girl when she lost her mother, and her father is a CEO of a large investment company who has very little time for her. As a result, Raven is beginning to act out more frequently as a matter of fact she may have been the cause of the last school counselor leaving. Lanie is the new Counselor. After looking at Raven's records her heart goes out for the girl because she feels that the girl is misunderstood. When she meets Andrew oh my there is heated chemistry between them and as she navigates herself between the relationship of Andrew and Raven it is a beautiful scene to read, and watch unfold. I voluntarily agreed to an ARC of this book for an honest review.
