Fallen angels and bone-sucking demons. Filthy teddy bears and cults. Infidelity and the living dead. The deadly allure of a woman’s breasts. And more...
These tales are guaranteed to chill your bones and set your teeth on edge. If you’ve got the guts, settle into a dark, candle-lit room and dare to explore this tome of random horrors...
Indy McDaniel does the weird stuff. From the Globally Acknowledged squishy horror of Black Melt to the bone-crunchingly fierce action of the Nadya’s Nights series, there’s no shortage of bizarre nonsense he won’t do. He’s got body horror, he’s got werewolves with tentacles, he’s got killer space fungus, and he’s got some books about those things, too. Commonly described as ‘that weird guy over there’, he’s all too eager to share his assortment of dark silliness with whoever’s interested.
An enjoyable anthology of short horror stories that range in content, tone, and length. As a forewarning to any readers, there are a number of stories that contain both sexually explicit and violent scenes which are sure to thrill readers who enjoy the graphic depictions of depravity. One of the highlights of the stories is the clenching intensity of characters experiencing a combination of fear, pain, and loss without a moment of respite.
It's worth noting that the anthology is wide ranging, and some stories are stronger than others. While "Stuffed Innocence" and "Scratches" are particular favorites from the set, there are several that suffer from pacing issues during slower scenes in between action sequences.
Overall, a solid set of short stories that deliver on their promise of horrifically unsettling intensity.
This is a great call back to the Spooky Stories to tell in the dark. It is like getting to see my childhood re-vamped and modernized.
The stories range from monsters to things that go bump in the night and quite a few have made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I recommend this to anyone that wants their fix of horror but don't have time to read a full novel, The characters are varied and interesting, each one easy to relate to and well developed even in the shortness of the stories. My favorites by far are Consumption and Scratches.
