Grad student Devin Toulson is writing his dream thesis on Myths in American History, but when his research takes him on a journey reaching back centuries, Devin finds something horrifying. Something that crosses cultures, locations, and eras. Something that returns for a bloody feeding every 23 years. Will this young man's investigation uncover simply an urban legend or will he come face to face with an immortal monster that has terrorized humanity from the shadows since man first walked the country?
This book starts out strong- The first three issues are phenomenal- but the last two issues just peter out into an extended chase scene that leads right where you think it will. It almost seems like writer Marc Andreyko thought he was working on a monthly series, and was told to wrap it up in issues four and five because the sales were bad. A shame, because I really liked where he was going with the story...
This graphic novel explores a sort of "what if" depth of the Creeper's background from the Jeepers Creepers movies. A grad student goes exploring the various "cross cultural appearances of the Dragon in North American mythology from the Aztecs to today" and the dragon of myth turns out to be the Creeper. His travels find him exploring connections from the Aztecs, the Cherokee, the lost colony of Croatan and the coal mining town of Centralia, PA, forming a sort of psychic connection with the creature along the way. The artwork was very good and the story was interesting in developing a deeper history of the Creeper. It felt like there were some missed opportunities to give the story more depth, especially at the end. But overall I wouldn't mind reading more about the Creeper in this format. 3.5/5*
This is a very good comic series based on the Jeepers Creepers film series. We get to see more of the origin of the Creeper and find out he has ties to the Aztecs, Native Americans, the lost colony of Roanoke (Croatoan) and the Centralia coal fire among other things. The art is good and this story fits right in with the movies. If you like the movies I'm sure you'll like this graphic novel.
The beginning was okay, I wish it would’ve been longer and possibly have a little more gore but I did enjoy the beginning and the BASIC somewhat origin or recap of the creepers somewhat beginning of his existence.
I read and finished under an hour, and read it during the day. I remember how terrified I was when I watched Jeepers Creepers as a kid. This graphic novel is very creative of who, what, when, where, and how the Creeper came to be the nightmare in our generation. I know I’m probably not gonna sleep well tonight. Haha!
Interesting but weiiiird. I love the movies and always wanted to learn the creepers backstory. This isn't the answer to my questions, but it's a start I guess.
As someone who watched Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2 growing up as a kid, this first volume makes me so happy. We have 4 movies total now, but no origin story. THIS COMIC GIVES US JUST THAT!
As a fan of the Jeepers Creepers movies and their timeless appeal, I eagerly dived into the first episode of the Jeepers Creepers comic series. While I thoroughly enjoyed the comic’s exploration of new storylines and characters, I couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed that it didn’t incorporate the elements from the movies that have made them some of my all-time favorites (excluding the latest installment).
That being said, the comic itself is a riveting read, full of suspense and chilling moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. The art style beautifully captures the essence of the Jeepers Creepers universe, and the pace of the story keeps the momentum going, leaving you wanting more.
Although it may not have perfectly aligned with the movies that I adore, the Jeepers Creepers episode one comic is a solid addition to the franchise. It has its own unique voice and delivers a thrilling experience that will captivate both existing fans and newcomers alike. I’m eagerly looking forward to the upcoming issues, hoping they delve deeper into the iconic elements that made the movies so beloved.
This was a big letdown. I'm a huge fan of the Jeepers Creepers films - even the third one - and was excited to dig into this continuation of the films, but the story is terribly weak. The lead character is bland and there's no link to the previous films or characters. The artwork is probably the only saving grace of the whole project.
Would still be interested in a comic version of the Creeper but if it happens I hope it's with a different writer.
Excelente final.
He starts off, clumsily looking for this daemon, but is never really aware of where it may take him, & then being completely confused by what is happening to himself, & then The daemon , although it seemingly seems sympathetic towards his objective of learning about him/it, then betrays that position, possibly because he’s always so unprepared for The lessons that he may have access to, if only he’d’play along’ with The narrative ( ? )
Quick and easy read graphic novel, which gives a bit more background to the movie creeper, by following a professor in Mexico searching for the history of the dragon god
A chance encounter and gift of a knife, sees him being cut with his blood bringing him back to America where he will face the creeper
This was so confusing and poorly written it felt very rushed, for those who are saying read for the lore, there is none. Just a wild goose chase, or is it? Bc they never actually meet, just in psychic visions. Just save your money and watch a review on YouTube about it i promise your not missing anything
Not a whole lotta story. I like the different flashbacks but they take up most of the pages instead of focusing on the main character. But it's fine....just like the art and colors. Creeper is drawn well
