Meet the King of Zenithia, Xyib*eepthxnin. If you think his name is difficult to pronounce, his thick alien staff is even harder to choke down. X’s search for a docile breedmate leads him to California because he knows Earth Girls Are Easy. Then he meets Prairie. Docile and easy? Doubtful.
Prairie . . . don’t let the innocent name fool you. This street girl knows a scam when she sees one, and she’s pretty sure X is either a serial killer or an escapee from the psych ward. The thing is, she’s running from trouble of her own and he’s so smoking hot she figures why not?
Praire’s just along for the galactic ride until she figures out X isn’t alien-spoofing her. After her introduction to smoldering cross-species sex and the king’s sweeter side, Prairie has a choice to make. Should she stay or should she go?
The decision is taken out of her hands when one particular challenge for X’s love ends with her life in peril.

Rie Warren has crafted an amazing, vivid, vibrant otherworldly alien world. I could see the words painted in my imagination; I felt like I was actually on, in Zenithia.
Taming the King is very unique. The characters and the world that Ms. Warren has created is just astounding and beautiful. The story is deeply erotic without being over the top. The sex is a natural progression of the Hero and Heroine's relationship.
The book is dirty, sexy and sassy. It breathes new life into a genre overrun with alpha, cocky aliens and the same story of human woman with alien alpha written again and again.
What can I say about X? I loved his evolution from cocky douche to beloved mate. He grew within the pages of Taming the King without loosing that thing that made him so special and oh so sexy.
Prairie is amazing! I want to be friends with her... actually I kind of am, I feel like Ms. Warren took my real life best friend and put her within the pages of this book. She was her own person; so incredibly independent and I enjoyed watching her open up. I loved that she never changed, she was always true to herself.
I love alien erotic romance... the genre is predictable (see above) and you know what your going to get. Love, sex, ok alot of dirty sex, maybe a little angst and suspense with a Happily-Ever-After... sign, sealed and delivered in two hours or less.
Taming the King, however, is uniquely it's own and that's because of the spirited and lively characters. Not just X and Prairie but Dex, Zane (Holy Shiitake Mushrooms), Jedrek, Magnar, Kerta, Dylka and even the queen and let's not forget the citizens of Zenithia!
Each character introduced made me want to read more. They each in turn made me want to spend more time in Zenitihia and learn more of their back story. Each character is clearly and expertly developed.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the Intergalatic Lurve series! I am so freaking excited to see what comes next!
Cheers and FIVE Space Stars to Rie Warren and her very first alien erotic romance Taming the Alien King!
Taming the Alien King was so much fun and 🔥 🔥 🔥. really enjoyed this world Rie Warren has created, I have to say I was apprehensive and honestly I've never been a fan of scyfy because well Aliens just didn't do it for me, but these guys...holy crap!! Seriously it was so much more than I could have imagined, and it's so different from all her other works. I have always loved her writing style, her voice and how she develops her characters. The hero is strong, alpha, hotness and the heroine is sassy, kickass and full of wicked humour. This book was just a fantastic read and I can't wait for the next two!!
**I would like to thank the author for the opportunity to read this ARC. My review is an honest opinion of the book**
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
Alien stories are not an automatic read for me, but every so often one comes along that I cannot resist! This one is fabulous and hopefully the following two in the series will be too.
The skill the writer need in an alien story for me is to make it sufficiently romantic that I can envision the scene, yet also contain elements which make me laugh at the crazy. Here we have human Prairie, who has such wonderful turn of phrase that it is impossible not to laugh with her, and is the perfect level of feisty. X manages to be perfectly enamoured with her, and patient though desperately horny. Add in the guards, and their desires, his brother (who has a special feature, or two) and some great alien movie references as well, and it is fast paced, super sexy and wonderfully crazy funny.
Highly entertaining - recommended reading for anyone who needs cheering up.
I don’t even know where to start on reviewing this ridiculously HOT and incredible read. Yes I do. When the author made a reference to the movie Earth Girls Are Easy a second after I thought it. There is something so refreshing about an author that is capable of poking fun at themselves in a way that keeps the reader from being too critical.
The storyline was expectedly far-fetched, but the book was SO worth the fun (and absurdly hot) read. Prairie and X were perfect for each other and intertwining the different characters for future books left me wanting so much more!! It’s been a while since any romance had my eyebrows raising in surprise and this one caught me off guard. In a good way. I found myself laughing and blushing as I read some of their freaking crazy, yet absurdly hot moments in the book. It’s the type of thing you can only ‘experience’ by reading. There is NO WAY I’m spoiling this for anyone. Everyone needs to read this firsthand. Just have a fan with you. Or an ice bath ready. I’m going back for round two.
I loved this light-hearted read that was full of cheeky one-liners and bone-melting sizzle. This author knows how to mix humour and love and this new sci-fi romance is brimming with that and more! Alien meets California attitude meant Prairie and X were going to butt heads, bits and laugh all the way through it….
“My goal was to bag a hot Cali breeder-worthy babe. Hence landing in the 90210 zip code.”
“And look at you. Total eyegasm.”
Prairie was in a tough situation so when being rescued by a maybe crazy, maybe not, seven and a half foot alien was the lesser evil, you knew it was really bad. X wanted love, companionship, and family. Prairie sparked his body but also his hearts, so winning her over was top priority. Picture a courtship like no other as the one-liners flew fast and furious and the sexual tension simmered and exploded. They were hilarious together but also sweet as their physical attraction gave way to so much more…
This is a light, laugh out loud, eighties meets alien, can’t-help-but-fall-for-all-the-characters, fun romance. I can’t wait for more! ~Diane, 4.5 stars
Taming the Alien King by Rie Warren is the first book in the Intergalactic Lurve Series. The King of Zenithia, XYIB*ECPTHXNIN- try this name three times - yep no joke comes to California to claim his mate and meets Prairie. His selection process is more than astounishing - no spoiler here. He believes earth women are easy and finds earth in general lacking and boring. Prairie is anything than easy and boring. She´s a tough woman with street cred. He´s smitten with her and wants her, bad. Taming the Alien King is a scorching hot read with nsfw scenes that left me breath- and speechless. Both are blunt beings, rude and bordering to crude, hormon driven and determined to get what theirs. I love Rie Warren´s Carolina Bad Boys Series, and I´m glad I gave this series a try.
I enjoy a good science fiction romance, and Taming the Alien King instantly grabbed my attention. In truth, I expected nothing more than a fun quick read. One I would enjoy, but I wouldn’t be crazy about it. Turns out, I underestimated how I would feel towards this book. I absolutely adored this one, and cannot wait for more.
From the very start, this one sucked me in – and I can pin down why with a very simple answer. The humour. I was chuckling away with this one. I was sitting reading it in my free time in the lab, and I was constantly waiting for someone to come knocking on the lab room door to see what had me giggling so much. Each time I thought I had calmed down, there was something else that brought on a round of laughter. Some of the things were juvenile, but it played in so well with the characters and story, and I loved the way it all played out.
Of course, humour alone isn’t enough for me to fall in love with a book. The story and the characters also hooked me. Although there was nothing overly shocking about the story, it was nothing overly original for the genre, it was a nice set up for the series and kept me engaged throughout. I wanted to see how the specifics would play out, and I was turning pages at a rapid pace. Mix in characters I loved – both the main characters and the side characters – and amazing chemistry, and you know why I finished this book in no time at all. The only downside to enjoying a book so much is finishing it – especially when you do not have book two, which I need as soon as possible.
It’s so rare to find a science fiction romance with so much humour in it, one with a wonderful storyline and great world-building, and Taming the Alien King certainly delivers these things. I cannot wait to get my hands on the future books in the Intergalactic Lurve series, Taming the Alien Prince – honestly, I’m seriously excited for the humour I know is to come with this one – and Taming the Alien Warrior. As far as an introduction to Rie Warren’s work goes, this was wonderful.
I personally am not a huge fan of science fiction romances and was a little sceptical as I started reading. I really love most of what I have previously read from Rie Warren, so I was willing to give Taming the Alien a chance. I feel the beginning of the story where X and Prairie meet was a little rushed and unbelievable - but again - were talking Aliens, so there you have it. Once they return to his planet, the plot begins to fill out and becomes interesting. Rie sets the stage for the following installments in the series by introducing X's family and his guards and the plot twist. If you're looking for a fun, light, quick read with LOTS of heat, then be sure to grab a copy of Taming the Alien. Rie will not let you down. * received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I’m not a huge Sci-Fi fan but am a huge Rie Warren fan so I went in to this one with high hopes. It’s a solid 4 star read, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the heroine, Prairie, she was little immature but I love X and they balanced one another!
X is the king of the planet Zenithia and he’s decided to find a mate on earth, where he meets Prairie. From the moment X lays eyes on Prairie he’s claimed her as his queen and though it takes a little convincing, the pair head back to Zenithia, as Prairie has agreed to allow X 7 days to woo her into staying. Prairie is very confused, of course, by this new planet but has a fierce attitude about the whole thing and takes each crazy thing thrown her way in stride.
Things progress very, very quickly for the two main characters – to be expected with such a short read. Their attraction is off the charts and the sexy time in this book is HOT. I love that Rie Warren was able to pack a whole love story into such a short, quick read. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series! Actually – I’m even more excited about the prospect of getting X’s guards stories, they’re hilarious and I look forward to seeing more of them in future books!

I love alien romance so i was excited to get stuck into this one.
I enjoyed Prairie in this story, she is a say it as you see it type of girl and she didn't take much rubbish. The relationship between her and X happens quickly, the attraction between them was smoking hot.
Here lies my problem though, X is too human for me, what I mean by this is the way he spoke and the way he acted at times was more human than alien. I would have liked him to have more of an otherworldly feel to him.
Nope couldn't do it. It was like reading something a 5-year-old wrote that included a lot of "shut the front doors" "shut the f up" and sexual innuendo that is just stupid. I get it's an alien book. But at the beginning, it seems that humans know about them. So why is Prairie so surprised by something's and not other? X wants an easy earth woman. Too bad he doesn't look for a smart in child-like one.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.
Hilarious, sweet, extra(terrestrial) HOT! Taming The Alien King is a whirlwind sci-fi romance that had me both laughing and reaching for a fan. As a huge fan of sci-fi romance I tend to love everything from the very serious to the light hearted fun, but I’ll be the first to admit great sci-fi romance is hard to find. If you’re on the hunt for a smokin’ hot alien and looking to get some giggles in on the adventure this book is your treasure.
Between Prairie’s sassy personality and X’s impossible to pronounce name (ask me about the fun I had trying to figure out how to say that name out loud lol!) I was cracking up from the very start. Rie Warren has some of the best humor packed into this book with all the sweetness and heat! Speaking of that heat, whew! X and Prairie certainly know how to melt the pages with their chemistry. The book was a blast to read and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one! That BOGO deal is one I don’t want to miss ;)
I could I not want to read a book with alien men? I couldn't that's how. I just love books when the men are aliens from other plants. They are always such fun to read. I think it's also why I love shifter stories too.
For the most part this is a good story and well written. I really enjoyed the story line and loved Xyib*eepthxnin (a mouthful, right?) he appealed to me right away. Yes, it might have been the alien thing, but it was also how he acted. I liked him very much.
Unfortunately I can't say I always liked Prairie. There are moments that I did, but other times she was just to much for me.
The good thing for me is that not loving the heroine doesn't stop me from liking a book, now the hero is a different story. Even with the times I wasn't happy with Prairie I was still enjoying the story. I just wish at times instead of heroines being rude to show strength, they could it in a different way.
Other then those point I would say I enjoyed the story. I would have loved it to not be first person (not my favorite to read) I think if you are fan of sci-fi you will really enjoy this. And if you haven't tried one before what are you waiting for?
This is my first read of Rie Warren and the first book in the Intergalactic Lurve series.
Rie Warrens writing will leave you fanning yourself and contemplating a cold shower. This Alien erotica is blazing with the right amount of sweet. The story is centred completely around Prairie and X, developing with their relationship. It reads well and is an easy read.
I would have liked more about how the royals run Zenitha and admittedly it took me sometime to really settle into this book. But if you are looking for a steamy heart thumping read then this is a perfect book to start with. I’ve already got the second book ready to read!
I’m not gunna lie, I’ve never read an alien Syfy book. But, Rie Warren has always been one of my favorite authors. It’s why went right in putting my worries aside. I ended up reading this in one sitting it was that good!
XYIB*ECPTHXNIN known simply as X is the king of planet Zenithia. He’s known from going from women to women. But, he’s been alone for centuries and he wants to settle down. But, the women from his planet aren’t what he’s looking for. X has done his homework and he’s decided to head to earth. He’s looking for a women who’ll submit to him.
X thought he’d go and find a mate quick. But, he went about finding her from an app and OMG the women that responded had me peeing I was rolling. The minute he saw Prairie he knew she was going to be his mate. He just didn’t think it would take this hard to convince her.
Prairie hasn’t had the easiest life. She doesn’t come from much or have much. When this extremely extremely tall built beautiful guy comes up to her claiming to be an alien king from another planet wanting her to be his mate, she’s thinking he’s joking. Prairie decided to play along. But, when she realizes this tall stranger isn’t crazy, but he is from another planet. Prairie isn’t sold on on being his mate and queen and leaving earth forever. Prairie gives X seven days to win her over. Seven.
What can I say about X other then I want I want I want!!! You’d never tell he was 100’s of years old. The man has the sex drive of a horny teenager. Bc he’s an alien it’s high anyway, but he’s never had it like this until Prairie walked into his life. His love and loyalty to Prairie was so obvious and he wasn’t afraid to show it. He was still king and had a planet to rule. But, X wanted Prairie so he’d pull out all the stops.
Prairie I really liked. She been thru a lot. Therefore she doesn’t put up with any crap from anyone. She’ll tell it like it is in front of anybody. Prairie tried not to fall for X. But, if she was real with herself she was smitten from the beginning. But, when Resting Bitch Face AKA RBF puts her hands on X it does something to Prairie and sees X as her alien king. Prairie will fight to the death so everyone knows it.
Every book Rie Warren writes I fall harder for her then I was before. I don’t think an alien romantic comedy would be easy to write. But, she made it seem easy. I read this in one sitting. Rie’s known for writing very hot, panty melting books. With big bad guys and the perfect bad ass chicks to go with them. Rie might’ve written an alien story. But, it was still bad ass Rie Warren story but it was hotter and badder then before and I’m dying for the next prince.

Taming the Alien King was my first book by author Rie Warren and it most certainly will not be my last. The world she created on Zenithia was fun and easy to get lost in.
King Xyib*eepthxnin aka X needs a queen desperately and comes to earth in hopes to snag a docile mate. Only he snagged Prairie. A fiery redhead who does not know how to tame her mouth or actions. She just happens to be exactly what he needed.
There were times in this story I thought that Prairie's actions were a bit juvenile. She was on a new plant with another species and she was more worried about what one-liners she was going to zing out than the real threat around the corner.
Prairie has had a hard life and has looked out for herself most of it. So, her first line of defense is her mouth. One thing that I enjoyed in the story was how scrappy Prairie was and that she could ride a bike. This girl could fight and stand up for herself which the king loved.
X character oozes alpha and dominance. He is king, and everyone caters to him. The one person who has the power to break him is an earthling. I did enjoy this part of the story. How such a dominate man learned to balance and cope with unknown and how to be what Prairie needed.
This book is steamy as sin. I mean HOT. Prairie and X hold nothing back once she finally gives her Alien king what he has always desired, her heart.
The next few books in this series have me really intrigued to where the author will take the storyline. All the supporting cast were fun and full of life. I cannot wait to read Taming the Alien Prince and Taming the Alien Warriors.
I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. OMG! I loved this book. It was downright filthy but fun. From the first page to the last you knew just what X was thinking about and feeling.....sex! There is so much going on in this book but it is all great. X and Prairie are the perfect couple in that she challenges him even though he wanted a docile woman. I swear I can't wait for the other books to come out. This review was originally posted on Teatime Romance
Taming The Alien King is a sci-fi romance that had me both laughing and reaching for a tall glass of ice cold tea. X is the King of Zenithia. He's a strong alpha alien and decides to comes to earth to find a mate. His adventure of trying to use Tinder to find his mate was hilarious. Prairie is a strong girl. When her path crosses with X they sizzle. Before we know it she heading off to Zenithia with X. Prairie is sassy and doesn't have a filter(love her). Their relationship moves quickly but it actually fits them perfectly. This one is a super sexy read but it also has some funny parts too. Awesome way to start a new series.
This book called to me when I saw the earth girl are easy line ahhh brings back so many memories. X because lets face his name is to hard to pronounce and spell goes to earth to find a queen thinking it will be simple. Ha he use tinder enough said. But after almost giving up he see a ray of sunshine Prairie well she is anything but sunshine more scary. But he falls for instantly. Prairie not sure if the big guy is cray cray or he really is an alien but since she doesn't have much going on she goes with him and falls into a wirlwind adventure. This book was funny and sexy but with a great story. I cant wait for the princes book.
I haven't read a sci-fi romance book in a long time. I saw this one and thought I would give it a shot. It's a good short read. X is the King of Zenithia. He's a strong alpha. He's an alien and comes to earth to find a mate. His adventure using Tinder to try to find his mate was funny. Prairie is a strong girl. Her path crosses with X and next thing we know she heading off to Zenithia with him. She's sassy and sometimes doesn't have a filter. Their relationship moves quickly but it fit perfectly. This one is a super sexy read but it also has some funny parts too.
Loved it! Prairie was such a sweet and sassy character. You never knew what she was gonnna do. Poor X thought she was gonna be docile and sweet. But he never knew what was gonna come out of her mouth. I am sad that it wasn’t longer. Can’t wait for more from this series.
When I heard Ms. Warren had a new series coming out, I was all gimme-gimme-gimme. I’ve read all of her series and was ready to sink my teeth into something new, something different. Sexy aliens, an SFR story…sign me up. I started reading and then…oh boy.
Let me start by saying I did like Taming the Alien King. It was fun, sassy, sexy and just enough adventure to keep the story from being complete porn. Xyib*eepthxnin (Gesundheit!), the King of Zenithia, makes a good king. He heads to Earth to find a breedmate. Sexy and macho there is a softer side to him, but it’s not in his pants. Now Prairie, she is quite the spitfire and more than a match for X and his world. She’s in a bad spot on and when X gives her the offer of a lifetime, well she certainly isn’t going to pass up. And then she finds out he really is an alien, a king at that. Things are about to get interesting!
Soooo…yeah. I’m waffling on the fence here. Yes, I like the story. It wasn’t too alien, had plenty of hot sex and the characters are completely likable. There even a bit of an unanswered whodunit that I anticipate will run through the series keeping me guessing until the end. It’s hard to not like Ms. Warren’s stories. And therein lays my problem. It felt too familiar, too much like the CBB series, just with aliens instead of bikers. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good series. I was just hoping a whole new experience. For now, I’m going to shelve my disappointment and keep reading the Intergalactic Lurve Series because darn it all, I need to know who the secret bad guy is.
I received this book from The JeepDiva with the express purpose of an honest review. The opinions, contents, and rating of this review are solely mine
2.5 Stars. Don’t read this if half dressed alien god like males bother you. Don’t read this if you blush easily. Don’t read this if you’re against alien public orgies. Don’t read this if you like your fantasy sex neat and tidy, as this is down and dirty alien sex. Don’t read this on hot days as you may end up in a puddle.
This book is filled with HOT GRAPHIC SEX, and lots of it. When I saw lots I mean 95% of this book is sexy times with a large endowed alien hunk named X, who is also a king. The sex is so prevalent that the heroine Prairie, should not be able to walk. Seriously she should be sitting on a donut cushion during the book. The alien and the earth girl go at it like energizer bunnies. I assume they have a vat of Gatorade in the room as the sex is an freaking Olympic sport. X’s brother Zane is introduced as being double hung. His book is book two in the series.
Other than the sex, did I mention there is a lot of it, there is a minor plot, and no world building. Plot points are raised and never followed up on. Puny earth girl has to fight an Amazon Alien woman. Despite the book premise, that earth girls aren’t easy, they really are easy, and snarky. The snarky was fun to read. But nothing besides the sex connected the two main character of X and Prairie. Yes, you can have a alien sex book filled with more plot, as Warren can write books with plots, this just happens to be more of a alien sexfest.
*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*
X thinks he'll find a docile human woman to become his queen. What he finds is a mouthy woman who challenges him at every step...and he absolutely cannot live without her.
"Maybe my command stunned her into silence. My cock in her mouth would too."
When Prairie meets X she thinks he's crazy and she can't decide if he's psycho killer crazy or needs to be on meds crazy, but he's hot and offering her a place to stay when she really needs one so against her better judgment she goes with him. She quickly discovers he's not crazy at all and that everything he told her, including being the king of an alien planet, is true.
"I can't help wanting you."
"Seriously. Unless that bullcock of yours shrank to micropeen-size there's no way it's going in my hooha tonight, X."
From day one X wanted Prairie like no other. For Prairie she wasn't as easily convinced. Not until X's ex-betrothed challenges her for him does she discover her true feelings and the strength needed to get what she wants.
Taming the Alien King is a fiery erotic read wrapped within an interesting storyline. The character's personalities are distinct and captivating. The stuff that comes out of Prairie's mouth will keep you laughing and the tantalizing sex scenes will have you panting for more.
Rie Warren is my go-to for eortic novels and novellas. She can do no wromg as far as I'm concerned, whether she goes for hetero, homo, dystopian or fantasy. I was oddly attracted to this short sci-fi erotic series, since I'm definitely not the biggest fan of fantasy books. Of course none of these books are realistic in our current world...yet they could as well be. Rie's aliens are just like us. except bigger nad kinkier....and their planet is pretty much a futistic version of ours with what I feel like are nods to more ancient civilizations.
Having said that, it is very rare that the first book in any series really captures me. I always seem to fall for the secondary characters that I always have a feeling will be further developed along the line. Of course that was the case here.
I love Prairie's sass, which got good belly laughs out of me, and X is definitely a great introductory character to this Alien world. Their intimacy scenes are hot, graphic enough, yet not enough to be mommy porn, which is what I like.
I was just dying to see other characters and their mysteries at the end of this one. That is why I enjoyed it, but I'm definitely enjoying the follow ups a lot more!
I've always been a fan of Rie's writing style since I read her first release. Her writing style is fun and funky, and realistic. The characters talk like real people, even when they are living in an alien world. The story was fun and easy to read. X and Prairie are a great romantic couple with a hot, hot, hot relationship. There is adventure, a little danger, some girl-fighting and of course, love. I loved reading Prairie's journey to accepting a life in a foreign world, with a man who is king. A man who thought he'd get a biddable mate, when in fact he got more than he bargained for. Lots of humor in this story, which kept me smiling and turning the page. Warren has done an incredible job building an alien, yet believable world. Her descriptions of the technology and setting in the story really makes you feel like you are there with them. There is a great supporting cast of characters, and I am looking forward to seeing them get books of their own. Well done and worth the read.
If someone wrote a spoof of an erotic scifi romance this hilarious and sexy story would be it.
What am I saying?
This author has written a SFR spoof. Except this not only pokes fun at the genre but also retains all those elements we love in a scifi romance story, including the OMG! cocky giant alien with his thingymadooda as humongous as an anaconda.
The author understands the genre and she delivered. She created an alien world that I could imagine and characters I'm eager to engage, including an array of alien warriors whose stories I want to read and that includes one who is doubly-hung. Someone is going to be a lucky bia*ch. LOL
Yep! It's that kind of story and I'm not ashamed to say that I loved it. I'm not going to bore you with a rehash. Just to tell you that if you love scifi romance, then what are you waiting for? Grab your copy.
