Emily Bishop is a breakthrough romance writer from Seattle, Washington. She originally attended University of Washington as a history student but soon found a passion for words and stories. Upon graduating with a degree in creative writing, Emily fell in love and moved away from the hustle and bustle of the city to a quiet little town in Oregon.
She is now a full time writer who loves her job. She enjoys bad horror flicks, hair pulling, lemon pound cake, and spending time with her husband, Charlie, and her dog, Roscoe.
I really enjoyed the first half of this book, but the ending got a little odd. The h overreacted, I was confused about whether I was supposed to like the best friends or not, and the jump to "love" was a little fast for me. I will read more by this author as there was enough promise in the beginning of this one.
4.3 rating? Nooooo. So many unfinished and implausible storylines. She also uses “bean” and “box” to describe female anatomical parts. Let’s not. Also, the “word” “funner” is used. Not. A. Fucking. Word.
Jeez, all these four and five-star reviews... I don't know what to make of them. Did we even read the same book?
What can I say about this book?
Positives: 1. The premise is really interesting. I'll give it that. 2. The first few chapters are pretty good. I read the sample on Amazon and decided to shell out the 99 cents for the whole book because it seemed pretty promising. I wasn't expecting great literature, but a fun diversion, and/or a meditation on what it's like to fall for somebody on a mental level before a physical level. 3. Kieran is an entertaining character. He was a bit obnoxious but also funny, and I liked the way he tried to push Booker out of his comfort zone.
Other than that I thought this was dreadful. The hero and heroine seemed to be just getting to know each other and then without warning it turned into a giant sexfest. Cybersex. Sex in an elevator. Sex in the office. (I mentioned this to my husband and he said "How old are they, eighteen?") This made me pretty uncomfortable because at the point that it started the characters seemed to have only barely connected. They both jumped from "Hey, I had a great conversation with this total stranger" to "Hey, let's cyber" to "I am falling so super in love with this person and want to just boink this person all day" really, really fast. Sasha is a kind of okay character but she is also a major drama queen and super immature and naive. Her story arc only works if you assume she is really young... the last time I stormed out on a guy like that, I was 22 and even then I was aware that relationship was a giant, unhealthy drama-fest. And Booker, oh GOD I hated Booker, he was such an arrogant, mean-spirited prick to everyone... I mean, I get that he had a lousy past but there was no excuse for the extent to which he took joy in making everyone else miserable.
I thought this was going to be a book about falling in love with someone without having the physical attraction component on the table right away, but it really wasn't. The leads have exactly one even semi-deep conversation on the app and absolutely zero meaningful conversations in person (not counting conversations that are entirely about work).
In a romance novel you have to at least kind of get what each partner sees in the other and I so did not get that from this book. And without that, it's uncomfortable, melodramatic sex.
This is a wonderful read. Emily Bishop brings her A game with this wonderful internet dating story.
Booker has designed a new dating app. You have to get to know the person you have been matched up with before you can see the persons picture. You take to the person and answer 5 personal questions the other person is asking. After each question, a little bit of the picture will be revealed.
This new app and business are exactly what Sasha is looking for. She wants to make it in New York and working for Booker's business is just what she is looking for. So when everyone in the company has to make a profile she never thought she would get matched up with anyone. But when she does, she finds someone she can really talk to and enjoy. Until she finds out whom she is talking to.
This is a great full-length story with two really wonderful characters. I really enjoyed the secondary characters also. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
What happens when two people who seem to hate one another let down their walls and let out the real person they are on the inside? This is the question that Sasha Shone and Booker Knight have to answer after they both agree to test out the new dating app. Both of them are looking for something or someone they never knew they could want. However they have to get over their preconceived notions about things. Will they really give this a chance or when they find out who the other person is will they run for the hills?
This is an amazing book that will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. There are some ups and downs in it that I really want to tell you about but don't want to ruin it for anyone else. I will say this is one of those book that the characters will draw you and and you will have withdrawals when it is all over. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
I have read a few books by this author and have enjoyed them and this was as well. I thought the story concept was unique. I liked the idea of a dating app that doesn’t allow you to see the picture of the other person right Away. This story is about Sasha and Booker. I liked these characters and enjoyed reading them. Their chemistry is intense and immediate. It was nice to read a book that wasn’t filled with misunderstandings and drama. It’s filled with laughs and I didn’t want to put it down. Absolutely recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A wonderful story that captivated me from the very beginning and kept me hooked all the way through to the end. Booker is Sasha's boss and at the office they do not get along. They both end up signing up with the dating app that the company developed. The app pairs them! They get along great through texting and the internet, but what will happen when they reveal themselves. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3-stars is too much and 2-are too little: I like the premise of the story line: development of a new kind of dating ap that forces you to get to know a person before you physically see them. The chemistry behind that story line was great. However, was the “big reveal” happened, everything got too muddled, weird, and just out of balance with the story.
As Sasha is being shown around her new office by her friend, Lucy, she is suddenly almost knocked over when her new boss crashes into her! It was not a pleasant encounter since he immediately started in on her about not watching or responding to his angry questions. But as she mumbles something after his final insult, he stops and tries to intimidate her. To her credit, she does not back down and politely informed him that manners obviously can’t be bought – as she apologized for bumping into him.
Lucy settled Sasha at her desk and showed her their new app product for a dating site, telling her to create an account to learn the app and experience how it works. The next day, Booker Knight and Sasha end up riding the elevator to the office together. She greets him by his first name and he corrects her – off to another rough day. She thinks of him as a cold-hearted, calculating businessman with no soul … but another impression of him keeps coming back into her mind.
Booker settles in to work when his friend, Kieran, drops in to say the app needs to be changed. He doesn’t like that you have to get to know the person online before you get to see them. He is afraid the users won’t like it, as he doesn’t. Booker disagrees, because knowing someone first may very well allow a relationship that may never have been started otherwise. Kieran challenges him to create an account himself and test his theory.
At home, Sasha hears her phone chirp that she has a message. She has been matched by the app! She wants to see the guy’s face, but will have to answer questions before she gets that far. She likes the intrigue, though. She reads his answers about himself and laughs. He’s a mix of arrogant and fun. She continues analyzing the program’s performance – would a user like this? Is it too complicated? And day by day, she looks forward more eagerly to her interactions with the mystery man from the app. How far will the testing go? Will they ever see each other? Would they dare to meet on a date?
I really enjoyed this book, especially because the characters were so good together. The abrasive workplace dialog melts away when “Angel” and “Master” open up and expose their true selves in the app. Being semi-anonymous makes it so much easier to be honest. I definitely recommend this book. It was fun to read, knowing what we know and watching how things play out. You won’t regret reading this one! Although I received a copy of this book from Booksprout, I voluntarily chose to write an honest review and I purchased the book before posting my review.
I have read several of Emily Bishop’s books and enjoyed them all including Taming Cupid…it arrived just in time for Valentine’s Day. Booker was a handsome, smart, app developer/business owner who hires Sasha to be his assistant at the recommendation of her friend, Lucy, who also works for Booker. He is immediately taken with her and likes the fact that she stands up to him. I admire her spirit and work ethic and it's fun to read their interactions.
What I liked most about this story is how they got to know one another via beta testing out a new dating app the company was launching where you could not see the person’s photo. You needed to get to know one another by spending time chatting before the photo could be revealed. As luck would have it, the two were paired up and matched. They each used different names (Angel and Master) when communicating.
Booker had a rough start in and out of foster care and opened up to Sasha on the dating app. She too opened up to him and they began looking forward to their next chat. When their identities become apparent, they were both happy about it while feeling apprehensive. They decide to act on their mutual attraction and seemed like they were off to a good start. Even though he was normally closed off and gruff, Booker was softening and beginning to feel that he, too, deserved someone special. Their feelings for each other were genuine and I was routing for the two of them to get together.
Booker’s business partner and childhood friend, Kieran, makes a suggestion about using their personal love story for marketing purposes which Sasha overhears and gets the wrong idea. I am a big fan of honest communication and wish she would’ve spoken to him directly about her concern instead of quitting her job and running away. He tried to talk to he many times, including writing her a letter, but she refused as she was hurt thinking he used her. Booker did not give up which I admire, and without giving too much away, the book has a HEA as they both realize that their business and personal goals were not what they originally planned.

Sasha's first day at work doesn't go well especially when she runs right into her new boss and he lets her have it about watching where she's walking. She tries to avoid him but it seems like fate is against her and she keeps running into him. When he asks the employees to sign up for the dating app he is working on Sasha never expected to find someone she would like on it. She tells Master things she has never told anyone else and get closer to him. Booker joins the app like he asked his employees to do but he was just checking it out to see if it had any issues the last thing he wanted was to find a match of his own. Booker tells Angel things he never thought he would tell anyone and feels closer to her than he has anyone in his life. As Sasha "Angel" and Booker "Master" continue to talk and get to know one another the more focused their pictures become until one night the are exposed to one another. Sasha is worried when she sees her boss is Master and Booker freaks when he realizes all the intimate things he told Sasha aka Angel. Can they let go of their issues and just be together? Will this be the end of the app?
This was an awesome story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Booker and Sasha was a slow build because they didn't like each other at first but it quickly turned to passion. This will keep you entertained from beginning to end. Emily Bishop has another five star hit on her hands.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed this book so much I bought my own copy.
Game Set & Match This is a sweet, romantic story about a couple who meet on a dating app that they are testing. Booker is handsome and gorgeous but a bit closed off about his past as he had a tough upbringing. He hires Sasha as his assistant on her friend's recommendation as she also works for him. They are attracted to one another but she's no pushover and is a feisty, yet beautiful young woman and she will talk back to him which he loves! The thing with this app is that you don't see the photo of the person that you've been matched with till you get closer by talking and getting to know one another. They call themselves master and Angel. What is going to happen when they realise who they are matched with?? Will they develop a real relationship or not because he is her boss after all? Can they resist each other ? To find out you're going to have to get a copy of this book by Emily Bishop. Emily is a fun, witty and entertaining author who creates great storylines, amazing characters that are believable and that you can relate to. I was certainly cheering Angel and Master to fall for one another. It was a sexy read, full of fun and emotion. Now I'm not going to give away and spoilers but I will say that there is a guaranteed HEA that I really enjoyed. I was hooked on their story from beginning to end and read it in one go as it was so good. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I read this book as part of an arc program. I loved this story about finding love through a dating app. Booker was the CEO of a tech company that was launching a new dating app where the connections had to chat together and answer a variety of questions before they saw each others pictures, causing them to get to know each other first and developing a connection that was not based on looks. Before the app was launched, Booker wanted the company's employees to create profiles and test the app. Booker created his own profile and called himself Master. Booker grew up in foster care and has never developed relationships and doesn't believe in love, he goes from woman to woman and enjoys his playboy ways. Sasha has just moved to New York and is hired as Booker's assistant. When she creates the profile Angel in the app, she thinks she is just doing research for her job. Sasha thinks if she can find problems and help fix them, Booker will be nicer to her, because they really butt heads and she thinks he is a jerk. Angel gets matched with Master and they develop a connection and Sasha fantasies about Master being Booker, which annoys her because she hates him, but she is attracted to him. Master begins to care about Angel and opens up to her. This is a cute romance between enemies who really want to be more with each other. I love how Booker opens up to Sasha and how she becomes more adventurous. Another good one from Emily.
I voluntarily received an arc copy through Booksprout for my honest review. Sasha and Booker her boss has a very rocky start they hate each other from the very first meeting, he is a big jerk makes no apologies and treats his employees rudely. I think one of the reasons they think they hate each other is because they are attracted to one another. Sasha is a new hire and very excited to start her job with the company. You see Booker started a matchmaking company that brings people together by not showing the photo first but you have to wait until you really know the person and then you get a photo. Kind of smart right.
Booker has to test his website out right. So the lady he is matched with really gets him and sees what behind his rude behavior. But once he realizes his match is his new employee Sasha. The girl he is enemies with he just knows he has to have her at all cost.
I love their connection online. They talk so easily and they seem to get each other. He told her about his childhood and his hardships they were each other confidants. When they each realize whom the other is can they make a relationship work. They definitely have some obstacles to go through and I didn't like Booker at first but he redeemed himself. Sasha if only she would have read the letter and stopped being so hardheaded she could have saved them a lot of heartache. So do these two end up together happily ever after. You have to read their story to find out.
rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. We meet Booker McKnight....techy guru who is ready to release a new dating app. known as a hard a$$, he meets his new assistant and they both butt heads. We then meet Sasha who is excited to have a dream job in NYC with her friend from back home. He boss sees to be a jerk but a hot jerk at that. she decides to take the new dating app for a test drive to get a better feel of how it works. Bookers bff and business partner Kieran tells him to have fun plus try the app that he will.be releasing so he can tell ppl about it. reluctantly Booker signs up.under the username Master. Sasha is shocked to already have a match...Master is his name. she starts talking to. him and it feels comfortable yet exciting. their pics aren't revealed until.they meet a chat quota. Booker is feeling giddy about his Angel...eventho he has no idea what she looks like but for some reason he pictures Sasha. sasha is so attracted to booker and can't help hope her Master is like him. they continue to chat and open up to one another such as Angels v-card status and a round of sexting to get the motor running. what will happen when their pics are finally revealed? cute story.
From what I can see...there's mixed reviews on this one...
For me?
I loved it!
I've never really given too much credit to other reviews of books expect to maybe get a general consensus on the vibe of the book but as I always say...as long as I'm entertained then it's a win for me!
I loved the premise behind this one...it was different launch pad for me than others I've read....the idea of finding your true love via a dating app...yeah not so different!
But... the idea that you don't get to see who your match is until you finish a series of 'get to know you' questions and sufficient amount of time until the profile pics are revealed......definitely different...
And then the big difference...the one I can't tell you without ruining the story....that was definitely different too!
It was HOT HOT HOT HOT!
The steam between the texts was charging off the pages in this one!
I adored the main characters!
I was particularly drawn to the coldness and barriers that Booker Knight, our Main Man, put up and what would be needed for those walls to come down!
Overall I was completely entertained and sucked into the relationship between the two mains!
This is a wonderful love story about Sasha and Booker. Booker and Kieran own their own tech company and getting ready to launch an app right at Valentine’s Day. Lucy works at their company and gets Sasha a job as Booker’s assistant and things start off rocky for her. She seems to walk into Booker on more than one occasion and he is not a happy person. Sasha is asked to join the app so she can test it out and creates a profile with the username, Angel. Kieran gets Booker to sign up for his own username as Master. The app has your picture blurry and as each of the 5 questions is answered the picture is shown a little bit at a time. Theses two end up as a match and have texted back and forth for some time not knowing who the other is. Sasha test Booker’s patience at work and is lucky to still have her job. Will they ask their questions and be happy with the reveal? Will Booker go back into his cocoon and make his business a top priority? What will Sasha do with the knowledge once the reveal occurs? This is one story that has many twist and having you reading it in one sitting! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was pretty excited to start this book because the premise sounded pretty good. in the beginning I really liked this book, but at times Sasha and Booker were both fairly off putting in their own way and that was aggravating for me since I want to be able to like the characters. Fast forward a few chapters and low and behold they've been matched with each other, but they don't know it's each other and they have this instant connection and they really like each other meanwhile they hate each other in real life. Then there's the sexting, which I could have done without. after one sexting incident Book starts to figure out oh hey this person in talking to could very well be my employee and then BAM, surprise, she is. Things get sticky when they find out who they've been talking too, then they can't deny their attraction anymore and hook up, things are going well, then Sasha gets mad and doesn't wait for clarification and things go really bad. I ended up just feeling super frustrated by this book which was a bummer because I thought I'd really like it to begin with. This wasn't the book for me, but I'm sure other people would really enjoy it.
Sasha Ellis left her small home town to move to NYC, to do something her whole family didn’t think she could do... make it in the big city! She lands a job at a successful app tech firm as the CEO’s assistant, and from day one she seems to clash with her sexy, but stern and unapproachable boss Booker Knight. But the feisty red head isn’t going to give up just because her boss is a gorgeous asshole.
As part of her job she has to join the dating app to understand the user experience, within days of joining the app she’s matched with someone and they begin to explore the app features, confessions are made and the chats get a little explicit... when both Sasha and her boss realise they’ve been exchanging msgs online without knowing things get a little awkward, but they can’t deny there’s a connection between them, can they turn an online app connection into something real? Or is life just too complicated being boss and assistant?
This story is from dual perspectives... and I must admit the sexting is pretty damn hot! But Mr Knight was a bit of an asshole the whole time, eventually though he grew on me. I liked this story and it’s modern take on romance in this day and age 👍🏽
I enjoyed this book so much, it's a brilliant read with a clever concept. This is my favourite of Ms Bishop's to date. Sasha moves to New York for a job arranged by her friend Lucy. Booker is arrogant, cold, and rude. Booker, along with his partner Kieran, has developed a dating app that forces you to get to know the person before seeing what they look like. Employees are encouraged to create an account to see how it works. They each choose a name which represents them. Booker becomes Master and Sasha becomes Angel. Master gets to know Angel, and Master opens up to the anonymous person he has been paired with. Angel and Master click, and Booker is better messaging than he is face-to-face. I loved watching Booker struggle to accept the gift of Sasha's honest love. There is tension, misunderstandings, and Sasha almost loses her dream as well as her love. If you're new to Emily Bishop's work, this is a great place to start.
I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.
I found this book discounted on Amazon via BargainBooksy; this is my honest review. -I have to say that the page count is wrong; it only accounts for the first story since my Kindle is at 25% and I still have about 10 hrs to go; there are 4 stories in this book. I only read the first book and my review is about Taming Cupid - nothing else. The other books are Bachelor's Secret, Mr. Anything, Mr. Everything. -The idea of a dating app without seeing the picture of the other person is innovative, scary and refreshing all at the same time. -I loved the chemistry between Sasha and Booker during their flirting times on the app (or do we say with the app? - sorry not familiar). -I loved the ending and all that it entailed. Can't say here what otherwise they would be spoilers. -Not too much drama or angst on either side; would have loved to see Lucy's POV because something was definitely going on there. -Lots of funny and amusing parts too. -It's emotional but in a good way. I couldn't put the book down once the pictures were revealed.
I have read several stories by Emily Bishop and enjoyed them all. This one centers on Sasha Ellis, recent transplant to New York City from Pennsylvania farm country. She gets a job as an assistant to the CEO of a tech company. The CEO, Booker Knight, is the type of boss who strikes fear in the hearts of his subordinates. He's rude, demanding and has no problem publicly humiliating his staff. The company is preparing to launch a new dating app and part of Emily's job is to test out the new app to look for any flaws/improvements. The catch with this app is that no faces are shown until after a virtual relationship is established. Sasha, using the screen name of Angel, makes a match with "Master". Hiding behind their respective phones allows Angel and Master to reveal things previously kept secret. The problems arise when their faces are revealed. What happens when the veil of anonymity is lifted? This a good story about two people trying to merge their inner and outer personas.

Taming Cupid Author: Emily Bishop Review by: Rainey Day Book Reviews - Lorraine Leatham Rating: ***** 5 star - quick read
Booker Knight aka Master, created the best dating app in the industry. No pictures are exchanged until you’re an emotional match. His business partner talks him into testing it out for himself. He is matched with a complete stranger--and he finds himself sharing parts of himself he never has before. Sasha Ellis/Angel gets him... really gets the real him. Not the closed off person that he projects to the outside world at large. Not the jerk most people see.
As they continue to chat through the app the more their pictures clear. It's amazing, that is until reality hits and he sees that the woman is his newest employee. She’s off-limits, worst of all they can’t stand each other.
I found this book concept wonderful. At some point just about everyone uses or has used a dating app. You get a little taste of what goes on in what goes on behind the scenes. Of course, there is love and strife involved. What romance novel around Valentine's Day?
OMG! I love it! Fantastic book. I was so pulled in, I couldn't put it down. Lot's of twists and turns. You never know what's going to happen. Emily Bishop did an outstanding job! Booker owns his own company. Kieran is his partner and friend. They are testing a new dating app they invented. 5 questions have to be answered and the picture of your match will come into view. Sasha starts working at Booker's company. Lucy, Sasha's friend helped her get the job. Sasha and Booker bump into each other and Booker tells Sasha she needs to watch where she's going and learn how to walk. Sasha gets aggravated at Bookers tone. She makes a comment back. Lucy tells her she is lucky she didn't get fired. Everyone in the company is supposed to test the dating app. Sasha and Booker get matched up. What will happen when the questions are answered and they realize who each other is? Grab this book!

Sasha Moves to the big city to make something of herself! At her new job she seems to keep bumping into her boss, Booker Knight- he’s hot but arrogant cocky and rude and they quickly find hey dislike each other despite the physical attraction! Sasha and Booker both sign up and creates Profiles on the new app to trial it, review and give feedback ‘Angel’ meets ‘Master’ and she’s never had such a deep connection with anyone, he’s never opened up so much and never felt so comfortable talking to a female as he does her, it’s not long before feelings are developed but what happens when their identity is revealed .... A fun sexy romantic read that’s exciting and with two great lead characters! Wrote in alternative POV chapters which I enjoy the most as get to know both characters rather than just the one! See the story from Both sides ! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Simply put, this is an unexpectedly fun and heated story. The premise of Sasha and Booker's story has been done repeatedly but the way it was delivered in this book was unique. Openly loathing but secretly desiring, all the while falling for the other sums this one up pretty well. Sasha has moved to the 'big city' from a small town to make it big. Booker is the powerful and closed off co-owner of the tech firm she becomes employed at as his new assistant. The physical attraction is ever present but neither act on it. A new matchmaking app is set to launch at the firm and everyone is required to log on to try out and promote their new product. How does one prepare when an unexpected match reveals the one person you never expected to connect with? The heat in this book is pretty steamy. Sex without having sex has never sounded so good! Great story Ms. Bishop!!! I received an ARC for an honest review.
Company co-owner, Booker, and his new assistant,Sasha, are matched on the new app the company is developing and they are using for research purposes. What is new and different about this app is that they are introduced by user names and their real names and pictures aren't revealed until there has been a sufficient amount of chat: questioning and answering. In real life these two have gotten off to a bad start: Booker is cold, never addressing any employee by their first name, never making small talk, while Sasha has run into, literally, Booker twice a day since she started, receiving gruff retorts. But online Master and Angel get along wonderfully and he has slowly opened up and revealed his shitty childhood and the two of them have even indulged in sexting after she revealed she was a virgin. This story had me turning pages far into the night through many hard times and misunderstandings. I highly recommend this book,
I really don't even know how to put into words how horrid this was. I truly don't know why I even finished it. It was kind of like a train wreck, you can't help yourself from watching it happen. Maybe I kept hoping it would get better. I have no idea why. The premise of the book was actually really good and even the first few chapters were engaging. However, another virgin falls for billionaire romance?? Please.....just don't....as soon as I read the word virgin I should have stopped. Overall the storyline and characters are very immature and barely held together with sex. Said sex just seems to come out of nowhere and isn't remotely believable in the time table of events. All this makes me think the author must be very young and not experienced herself in any type of romantic relationship because none of this is realistic. In addition to the immaturity, the plot is random and all over the place like a teenager's hormones.
