I like this series, heroine is mistaken as the daughter of the head of EOD and kidnapped and there she finds the hero who is undercover. The hero has always been attracted to her but he thinks he is only best at killing. However, danger changes the equation between them. This book is a typical Eden and a fun read.

The fifth book in the Harlequin Intrigue series Shadow Agents: Guts and Glory by Cynthia Eden. Dr. Tina Jamison is kidnapped and Drew Lancaster is forced to break cover to protect her. The kidnappers believe the doctor is the daughter of the head of EOD, Elite Operations Division.

Fast-paced and suspenseful romance.

Never a dull moment in this series. Its high octane from a kidnapping to bombs at Marti Gras. When the heroine Dr. Tina Jamison is mistakenly kidnapped by a terrorist organization thinking she is Mercer’s daughter. Mercer is the head of the EOD and has spent years protecting the identity of his real daughter (her story was in the previous book in this series) You’re in for a fast paced thrill ride of escapes for Tina and her EOD protector Drew Lancaster trying to stay a step ahead of the man who wants Tina dead. These two had the hots for each other for years but never did anything about it until they were faced with death numerous times. The villain in this one was someone from Mercer’s past who wants revenge. Another great addition to the series and intrigued about the next EOD agents book – Cooper Marshall.

Personally, I thought that this book had the most twists in the series and also most emotional and suspense which was totally great. It seemed that the villain in this book was really awesome. He was the mastermind of the mastermind that I almost felt that there was no hope for the heroes. I was so glad it didn't end in tragedy. Although I already expected that there could be no way that the author could end it that way but Ms. Cynthia Eden created such a complex and smart evil villain that made the heroes seemed so hopeless. which was totally awesome again btw.

Dr. Tina Jamison, doctor for EOD soldiers, is kidnapped by the enemy group HAVOC, believing she is the daughter of EOD leader, Bruce Mercer. She isn't, of course, but she can't tell them that now or she's as good as dead. Fortunately for her, Agent Drew Lancaster is deep undercover with the group and is able to protect her. In fact, he's willing to break his cover to keep her alive. Which he does. But HAVOC's leader Anton DeVast, isn't about to give up. He has a strong desire for revenge against Bruce Mercer and only his daughter's death will do. Drew and Tina, as well as other agents of the EOD will have to fight to bring him down and protect the identify of Mercer's real daughter.

The suspense and action plot is the real strength in this story. DeVast makes a great mastermind villain who will stop at nothing to get his revenge. And he thinks several steps ahead of the EOD team, giving them a REAL challenge. That was the most exciting part of the entire story really. The romance took second place. Drew and Tina have some awesome chemistry and they clearly have an insatiable lust for each other. However, they "fall in love" way too fast considering. They're in a highly charged situation and they've never really had a full-on conversation and Drew is ready to risk his life and his mission to keep her safe. The characters, romance aside are pretty good. Tina is a strong woman who comes into herself throughout the story, realizing she can handle more than she thought and that she doesn't want to hide or be weak. Drew...he's got background and he does make growth, but he's also cocky and confident in a way that ever so slightly rubs me the wrong way. The way he tells the heroine that they're going to have sex and he's not backing off - without even really considering what she wants first (yeah, she's on board, but what if she wasn't?) It's little stuff like that. Not enough to get in the way of a good solid story though.

An easy four stars!

Dr. Tina Jamison is kidnapped by terrorist organisation HAVOC in the mistaken belief that she is the daughter of the head of specialist spy/government division EOD. Luckily for her, one of EOD's agents, Drew Lancaster, has infiltrated HAVOC and is ready to put his life on the line to protect her. They go on the run, caught up in a deadly feud between EOD and HAVOC's leaders!

It's an action-packed, suspenseful tale! I must say, the guy on the book cover is quite attractive, so picturing him in action as Drew had me fanning myself a couple of times! The two lead characters are smart and capable, and behave like actual adults. Refreshing!

The plot doesn't hold any real surprises, so some points off for that. Plus, it's part of a series, which means some plot strands are left up in the air. That's always my main gripe with a series. When a line is releasing six books a month like Intrigue does, it's seriously not possible to keep up sometimes! However, this is good enough that I might see if I can get the rest of the series of Kindle, which is a pretty good endorsement from me!

I really enjoyed the romance between Drew and Tina. They were attracted to each for a long time but gave the impression to the other that there were no feelings. It was nice to see them show their emotions as they stuck together. The ending was nice. There really were times where I wasn't sure how the author could pull off a happy ending, but she did!

I really like the continuation of the events from previous books in this series. This story is not as exciting and romantic as some of the others, but it was still pretty great. I just wish that there had been more alone time for the couple. I can't get enough of Cynthia Eden's captivating stories!

Fantastic book, a real page turner from the start. Tina is a doctor who works for the Elite Operations Division. She is used to patching up agents when they are done with a mission. She doesn't expect to end up in the middle of a mission herself, but that's what happens when she is kidnapped. Only, it's a case of mistaken identity, and if they discover the truth she'll be dead. Drew has been undercover with this group for several months and is shocked to see Tina. He knows he has to get her away, even if it means blowing his cover.

Tina is a doctor. She became a doctor after seeing her parents killed during a bank robbery and not being able to save them. When she's kidnapped by men who think she's her boss's daughter she is terrified. That terror is slightly relieved when she immediately recognizes Drew as one of her captors, as she knows that he will save her. Drew is the one man that has fascinated her since she met him. She is fully aware of what he is capable of doing and of his reputation for having ice in his veins, but that doesn't stop her heart from jumping whenever she sees him. She has complete trust in him and that he will get them out of trouble. That trust grows quickly into love as she gets to know more about him. I loved seeing the way that what he has done in the past doesn't affect the way she feels about him. Being on the run with him also changes the way she feels about herself. She has always considered herself weak, because she can have asthma attacks when under stress. She considers it a huge drawback to her desire to get closer to Drew, because a man like him doesn't need a woman like her. I loved seeing her strength of will develop over the course of the book. I especially enjoyed seeing her stand up to them all and insist on being the bait for a trap to catch the bad guy. And I loved seeing her get to Drew at the end.

Drew had had a rough childhood, doing things he wasn't particularly proud of just to help support his mother and sisters. After joining the army, then the EOD, there were many who thought of him as a killing machine. He is always very coolheaded as he goes about his missions. He had worked hard at his undercover mission to get to the leader of a terrorist group. Finding Tina as the kidnapping victim is going to blow that cover all to pieces, because he can't leave her in danger. He also discovers that his control also disappears around her. His immediate jumping in to protect her from what the terrorists had planned to do to her got them handcuffed together waiting for unpleasant attention. Drew wasn't sure he was going to be able to get them out of it, but he was going to try. He had trouble believing that Tina had so much trust in him. He believed that he wasn't deserving of all that trust, or anything else that she might be feeling for him. That trust in him started working its way past his walls until he was feeling things for her that he'd never felt for another woman, and it really scared him. He had kept his distance from his own family for fear of what he does coming back to hurt them, he could only imagine how much worse it would be if he allowed himself to love Tina. I loved his conversation with Gunner (Sharpshooter) where he asked "Weren't you afraid? That what we do ... Weren't you afraid it would spill over on them?" "I was more afraid," Gunner admitted, "of trying to live my life without her." That went a long way toward making him realize he didn't want to live without her. I loved their ending scene.

The suspense part of the book was outstanding. The EOD people knew who it was that had taken Tina. They had set up a sting to catch the guy, but he took the wrong woman. The action was constant as Drew and his coworkers try to get away, with the bad guys right on their heels. It becomes obvious that there is a traitor somewhere in the EOD, so they also have to make their plans and try to protect them at the same time. I loved Drew's focus as he tries to protect Tina while fighting his growing feelings. The final showdown was really intense with all the things that were going on. I loved the part that Cooper played, as the author sets things up for the next book.

The Shadow Agent books could be read as standalone but they're definitely better reading in order. The first time through I read them randomly and I missed lots of little details - my ratings have gone up from having started them in order from the start with Alpha One.

This one was action packed. There was lots of danger and fighting and romance. I loved Drew and Tina. Tina was fantastic. She was somewhat shy and timid but with a spine of steel. She panics when in danger but she also is a badass when she pulls herself together. She's a total mess of contradictions and I loved her. She was also full of sarcastic remarks and snarky thoughts and it was hilarious. Some of the gems;

“Then I got intel that revealed your true identity.” He let the gun trail over her cheek. If she had been an agent, Tina would have done something incredibly cool right then. Such as wrestle the gun from him or give him a sharp right hook. Then take all of these jerks out.

Eden, Cynthia. Undercover Captor (Shadow Agents: Guts and Glory) (p. 10). Mills & Boon Intrigue. Kindle Edition.

Drew leaned over Carl and scooped up the gun. “Nice scream you got there, Doc.” And nice, brutal fighting skills he had there. Tina cleared her throat. “Ah, thank you.”

Eden, Cynthia. Undercover Captor (Shadow Agents: Guts and Glory) (p. 43). Mills & Boon Intrigue. Kindle Edition.

The attacker let her go, but only for an instant. Only so he could lunge at Drew. No. She hit the guy with the butt of her gun. He went down with a groan. Drew curled his cuffed fingers around hers. “Nice job, Doc.

Eden, Cynthia. Undercover Captor (Shadow Agents: Guts and Glory) (p. 44). Mills & Boon Intrigue. Kindle Edition.

The bike leaped forward, heading straight for the man in the doorway. Tina clamped her lips together so that she wouldn’t scream. After all, there was no need for her to scream. The man in the doorway was doing plenty of screaming.

Eden, Cynthia. Undercover Captor (Shadow Agents: Guts and Glory) (p. 46). Mills & Boon Intrigue. Kindle Edition.

Drew was amusing as well and I loved how protective he was while also giving her a chance to help by playing bait. I wish this was just that bit longer so we could see more of the aftermath of their relationship.

The mission was interesting and the mystery of who the EOD traitor is is set up for the next book in the series. Cale and Cassidy make a brief appearance because Cale refuses to lie to Cassidy. It's hilarious how annoyed Mercer gets.

A strong romantic suspense with lots of action, humour and romance. 4 stars.

This was not one of the strongest in the series, it was very weak and mild. The plot was ok but I've seen it done better. I think that a lot of these books suffer because they're so short and don't give us enough time to really feel for the characters. Drew and Tina were good people but there wasn't really anything that made them special to me.

Drew was a good man beneath his rough exterior, there's no doubt about that. I just feel like the book needed to be a lot longer and some background would have helped me see the connection between him and Tina. We were just kind of thrown in and expected to believe there was something there just because we were told it was there. I needed more from them. There was non-stop action which kept it interesting and didn't fall flat but the romance we were meant to believe in wasn't happening for me. He was the type to keep people at arms length both to protect them and himself. He tried to be honorable and warn Tina away from him for he own good. I didn't support it but I understood it. I just feel like he really sold himself short and I found it hard how he could feel so much for her in such a short time.

Tina was ehhh...she was there. I thought of her more as a prop than a character. She was self-sacrificing and brave for doing what she could to help, she was a very good person. I just felt like she was robotic and I didn't really care for her. I'm not sure how to explain myself or if this even makes sense, I just didn't care if she lived or died. She had no personality, no voice, she was boring, she was Stepford to me. I don't know what else I can say other than I couldn't connect to her.

This just wasn't my taste at all and I won't read it again. I think that's all that needs to be said.

This is the 5th book in the series. I read the first one and then skipped to this one, quite honestly because it went on sale. I don't think you need to read the books in order although there were a few mentions of past events that I was unaware of. However, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. In this installment Agent Drew Lancaster is working undercover to take down a terrorist organization, in particular their leader when the staff doctor, Tina, is kidanapped. Drew has been attracted to Tina for a long time and blows his cover to rescue her. The rest of the book is them evading the bad guys and Drew trying to protect Tina.
For me, this series reminds me of going to a Jason Statham movie. You know what to expect and as long as that's what you want you really enjoy the movie. This series, is not very original, the romance is good but not fantastic. There is a lot of action and not much suspense. However, it's exactly what I expected from a book in the Shadow Agent Series, and at $1.99 a fantastic deal.
I really enjoyed both Drew and Tina's characters. We got a nice backstory to both of them and understood where they came from. They both had flaws/issues to work through, but that was accomplished fairly quickly. I liked that the characters had both been attracted to each other for a long time but hadn't done anything about it. I thought the romance was believable. Drew was a great Alpha character and Tina was tough but believable. Bottom line - this was a really good book and I will go back and fill in the gaps of the previous books. I already bought the 6th in the series.

Lots of romance cliches, which is very standard for this series.

Over bearing alpha male:
“You’re still afraid of me,’ he charged, ‘but it m done with stepping back. You’re not going to get away from me now.”

H has usually only one need for a women, while the h might as well be a virgin:
“He’d had sex with plenty of other women.”

The two fall in love ridiculously fast:
“She was in love with him. Was it too fast? Too soon?”

I am going to take a break from this series for awhile. The plots/characters/overall feel of each book is TOO similar. I need more variety.

Good guys and bad guys

Tina is a doctor for a agency that does secret operations. When she’s mistaken for the boss man’s daughter, she is kidnapped. Drew is an operative for EOD and is undercover with the group that kidnapped Tina. He has to get her out and away safely. But when he’s cover is blown, they both are on the run but the bad guys know every place they go. When Drew has to choose between the woman he has fallen for or his sisters, can he save them all?
Action, fast paced and sexy. I never knew about this series until an email from Bookbub. I loved it and will have to check out the rest.

Cat and Mouse

This is a great stand alone romantic suspense story within the Shadow Agents series. It features Agent Drew Lancaster, believed to have ice water running in his veins, and Dr. Tina Jamison, the DOD doctor who keeps the Shadow Agents patched up. When Tina is abducted by an international terrorist in a case of mistaken identity, Drew is already on the case. He's been undercover within HAVOC for months and is within hours of having access to the leader when Tina is taken. And his mission changes.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I'll be looking for more books from the series, especially where a mysterious shadow agent is involved.

Finding the good guys.

With so many agents its hard to decide who is good and who is not. There's a spy in the Shadow Agents and no-one is sure who it is, but that is in reality a story for another book. This book has the Shadow Agents physician kidnapped as she is mistaken for someone else. She is rescued by an agent who is deep under cover and has secrets of his own. Follow through while these two people learn to trust and work together. Cynthia Eden did a great job of writing a page turner that will keep you wondering what is going to happen next.
