Gladiator #2

Asterius

Rate this book
In Ancient Rome four young slave-gladiators—bred to be the best and nick-named the Wolf Pack—form a forbidden bond with the daughter of their owner. Across the length and breadth of the empire they will find and claim her as their own, letting nothing stand in their way.

Ennia is the name her patrician birth assigned her. Cassius is the name her father’s physician gave her when she dressed as a slave boy to train under him. But Accalia, the she-wolf, is the name she gave herself. And it is Accalia who falls in love with not one but four young men society deemed the lowest of the low.

Follow their adventures in the Gladiator series:

2: Asterius looks like an eighteen-year-old Greek god and has the charm and easy confidence to go with it. But he fears he can’t be trusted where women are concerned, and most definitely not when it comes to the girl he’s loved from afar for five long years.

When Accalia is to be secretly married off to an enemy against her will, it falls to Asterius to save her. He must race to the very edge of the empire to alert her father and then return to whisk her away from the threat and into hiding, all the while facing his worst nightmare and greatest fantasy come true: being alone with his little mistress. While they masquerade as man and wife, he must keep her safe from all the dangers that threaten her, including the most perilous of all—himself.

Nhys Glover is an Australian born award-winning author of over 75 romance novels. She is known for blending heart, heat, and a touch of the extraordinary in her stories. From time-traveling lovers to soul-deep polyamory connections, her work explores love in all its transformational forms.
Now living in Durham County UK, Nhys draws on her background in teaching and spiritual inquiry for inspiration in her writing. As she sits at her desk, staring out at the windy moors, she often reflects on what it means to stay human in an increasingly digital world. It is, after all, the subject of her newest book, a non-fiction called Authenticity, as Taught by a Machine.
But no matter the genre, Nhys is always chasing one thing: the truth at the heart of every story.

This second book in the series finds them all growing up and relationships changing.

Asterius is very handsome and loves to flirt. He worries that he will never be able to devote himself to one woman. Accalia is the woman who appeals to him unlike any other.

Accalia needs protection from her stepmother's plans. Their journey to keep her safe gives them a chance to be together which bonds them in a special way.

I really enjoyed their time together. Asterius reveals a depth to his character and that he truly can place her above his needs and desires.

Two in a row

I really don't know what to say except that is an exceptional book, the characters are very interesting, and the glimpses into the Roman way of life help the store develop more depth. I devoured the 1st book of the series as quickly as possible then got this one. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
