In Ancient Rome four young slave-gladiators—bred to be the best and nick-named the Wolf Pack—form a forbidden bond with the daughter of their owner. Across the length and breadth of the empire they will find and claim her as their own, letting nothing stand in their way.
Ennia is the name her patrician birth assigned her. Cassius is the name her father’s physician gave her when she dressed as a slave boy to train under him. But Accalia, the she-wolf, is the name she gave herself. And it is Accalia who falls in love with not one but four young men society deemed the lowest of the low.
Follow their adventures in the Gladiator series:
1: Typhon is a volatile and over-sensitive youth who struggles with his place in the world. Having been born to a tiny oriental slave, who was raped by a warrior and died in childbirth, he found himself fostered, not born, into his master’s elite breeding program. Considering himself undeserving of his placement among the carefully bred slaves meant for the arena, he fights every day to prove himself fit for a place in the barracks and the Wolf Pack.
When he attracts the lecherous attention of a murderous madman, Typhon must fight for his life and trust a mysterious young girl with thundercloud eyes and healing hands.
‘Typhon’ concerns itself with young love and is therefore sweetly PG rated. However, the series as a whole is meant for mature readers, as it becomes increasingly steamy and sexually explicit—although always wholly romantic—as it progresses.
Nhys Glover is an Australian born award-winning author of over 75 romance novels. She is known for blending heart, heat, and a touch of the extraordinary in her stories. From time-traveling lovers to soul-deep polyamory connections, her work explores love in all its transformational forms. Now living in Durham County UK, Nhys draws on her background in teaching and spiritual inquiry for inspiration in her writing. As she sits at her desk, staring out at the windy moors, she often reflects on what it means to stay human in an increasingly digital world. It is, after all, the subject of her newest book, a non-fiction called Authenticity, as Taught by a Machine. But no matter the genre, Nhys is always chasing one thing: the truth at the heart of every story.
Despite the subtitle, this is a beautifully written story of a young girl's first - and chaste- love. Ancient Rome, and the estate of a patrician widower is the setting. Little Lady Ennia, 12 years old, has lost her mother, but is close to and beloved by her father. He tells her all about the estate, the gladiator training program he is famous for, and generally talks to her about the real things in life. She's preternaturally imtelligent and gifted at healing, and far too curious for a patrician girl destined for marriage into yet more wealth and status. When she hears about the Wolf-Pack - 4 boys in the gladiator school with unusually high potential, she finds a way to meet them. She calls herself Accalia (she-wolf) and they adopt her into the pack. She hides this growing friendship, and compounds her charade by posing as a boy and apprenticing herself, as Cassius, to the healer responsible for the gladiator trainees. What begins as curiosity becomes in time a reciprocal crush on one boy, Typhon, and a firm friendship with all 4 boys. Events play out which demonstrate her unusual talents, her strength of will, and her true commitment to the Wolf Pack. Finely drawn characters, realistic historical details, a plot filled with necessary deceptions and fraught with multiple dangers, and excellent writing are among the pleasures that Typhon has to offer. I'm eager for the stories of Accalia and the remaining Wolf-Pack members.
I highly recommend the series. It really is well written and very original.
I loved how the author divided each book into a focus on Ennia's relationship with one member of the Wolf Pack.
It starts with them meeting as children and the beginnings of a strong friendship in this first book. These relationships evolve over the series from innocent flirtation to so much more.
Typhon is kind of a hot head. He reacts emotionally to situations. Ennia is similar in her nature. They really have a sweet beginning to their romance and that kiss is so sweet.
I highly recommend you read them all and know you will enjoy all the adventure and romance.
I really enjoyed this unique storyline!!! Our MC is so honorable, and brave and our heroes are all of that and more! I cannot wait to continue this series!!!!
