Drea came to the Amazon for one discovery. She needed to know if the tales were true about the mystical encantados that swam the dangerous river—their music, their magic, their seduction. And if they were true, she aimed to prove it to the world. On one hand, it was for her career. On the other… curiosity. Compulsion. And when she finally laid eyes upon the creature that beguiled her dreams, she lured him in with the promise of her body and her voice, all to sate a need deep within her hungering soul. But the encantado had his own plans for this beautiful human woman. Plans that went much further than a single night of carnal pleasure. He wasn't leaving without a bride. *** Explicit content. Mae Piper has lived in a world of make believe for as long as she can remember. As a child, she used her recess time at school to sit alone under a tree and craft worlds from rocks and blades of grass. She cut her teeth on poetry as an angsty teenager and honed her skills through fan fiction as a young adult. Now, she continues to practice her inability to live in mundane reality in a spooky little cabin in the forest of the Finger Lakes.
Plumbing her vivid imagination, myth and folklore and superstition, as well as the inspiration she still finds under trees, Mae pens tales of romance, pleasure, strong women, good men, and heaps upon heaps of magic.
Wonderful debut by Mae Piper! This is a fun, sexy read about the encantado (pink dolphins with a little magic in them). There was adventure, thrill, and of course, naughty times with a certain dark haired man who appears out of no where at the lagoon. The ending, to me, felt just a little rushed, but it still made for a sweet story.
I found Mae’s writing to be captivating and descriptive. It flowed very nicely. Looking forward to her books to come!
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I guess it being the authors first my expectations were low, but I enjoy a good paranormal romance on occasion so I gave it a shot. It had the right mix of actual plot and romance. The world building for this novella was remarkably well crafted for a short story. I liked the H and h, though, we really didn't get much of a description of the heroines appearance other than her hair and skin color. I'm a reader who likes to have a full picture of what each character looks like. I would love for this to be the start of a full series. Anna Carven's Dark Planets Warriors series plot formula would work very well with this novella. I would love a continuation of this couple's mission to unite their worlds for book two, but I'm sure what ever the author decides to write about will be outstanding. Overall I would definitely recommend this book! HEA, no cheating😃
Very much enjoyed Piper's debut book. I'm a sucker for poetic prose and there were several beautiful descriptions worth underlining. I was immediately drawn into the world, and rooted for Drea to give academia and the inherent politics the bird. Caezio's story was sweet and alluring, the perfect embodiment of dolphin mystique.
The pacing was quick, the romance steamy, but the ending could have gone on a few more pages. I definitely think Mae Piper is an author to watch. Looking forward to her next book.
Fantastic concept. I like the thought of supernatural school! Where can I sign up to study me some others? As with all novellas I want a bit more... more explanation of the dolphins, more interactions between the two leads. I can’t give examples because SPOILERS..but just a bit more! For a first book this was a very interesting well crafted read.
