The Sister Swap

Rate this book
Two sisters. Two very different lives…

Meg simply doesn’t have time for men in her life. Instead, she has a strictly one-date rule, survives on caffeine and runs one of the biggest model agencies from her smart office in London. That is, until she collapses one day at work and the doctor orders her to take some R&R in the country…

Sarah is used to being stuck behind tractors and the slow pace of her cosy village life. But now her children are all grown-up (and her ex-husband long forgotten) she’s ready to change things up a bit – starting with taking back her old job in the city!

After a devastating falling out, the sisters haven’t spoken in years. Swapping houses, cars, everything is the only option – surely they’ll be able to avoid bumping into each other?

Meg was 16 when her parents died. Her elder sister Sarah was 26 and had to leave her big career in London to return to her small hometown to step into the role of 'Mum' for Meg.

Fast forward twenty years, and the sisters haven't spoken for a very long time. There's a lot of resentment, bad memories, and a well of grief between them.

This book had me between trying to swallow the lump in my throat and giggling like a schoolgirl. Falling in love and grief simultaneously.

Despite the emotional topics, this is a lot of fun. Loved the sisterly vibes, the side plot romances, the banter, the afternoon Cinzano shots, the silliness, and all the hopes.

Four stars.

This is my first book by this author and will not be my last at all it was excellent from the beginning. Full of romance and sisters who don't get on and haven't for years but they swap where they are living and can they make up or not. Great characters and so true to life and family issues and rows.
There is Sarah who lives in the country and has two grown up children who don't need her any more so she decides to apply for jobs and sees her old job up so applies and never dreams she will get it but it's in London so can she do it. Meg her sister lives in London and has a successful model agency and falls ill at work and learns she has high blood pressure and been told to move to the country and have a slow life. Only problem is she only knows her sister who lives in the country and she hasn't spoken to her for years. She rings her and they end up swapping houses and can they be happy living in places they aren't use to and can they make a life and be happy and find love or are they not looking for that. Can they realise they do need each other and make it up or not.
Great read and now want to read more by this author.

Since I don't have a very close bond with my brother, I was immediately intrigued by the story of two sisters being estranged. Having lived apart for years and not having any contact whatsoever, I wondered how they'd pull through and how, exactly they fell out in the first place.
Witnessing how they, slowly but surely, found themselves and each other was something very much worth my time. I enjoyed it all and it simply felt real, genuine.

At first, I thought the major focus would be on the romantic aspect of the book and, while the men in this story are definitely pleasant enough, I was glad it wasn't. The Sister Swap focuses on the sisters, on their growth and their journey. Refreshing is definitely the word to describe my feelings towards that. Not to mention the ending of this novel - I absolutely loved it!

The settings in this novel are brilliant as well. Being out in the country, there isn't an awful lot to do, which makes it even more fun to see how Meg - who has her own model agency - finds things she's interested in and wants to invest time in, while Sarah takes up her old, old job as an event planner in London.
And if you know me even the tiniest bit, you know I just lovelovelove London.

5 / 5!

The story goes thus

Meg and Sarah are estranged for nearly 20years except for 2 funeral visits. They don't talk text or mail. There is military silence between them.

Till a health scare forces the London city girl Meg to take a break and go to the country and a job break forces the country girl Sarah to come back to London. The two sisters decide to house swap without managing to meet each other.

My first book by author Fiona Collins, and it has its good funny bits amongst the journey of their new lives. I liked how how the author has clearly differentiated the two sisters while keeping the similarities between them.

It was lovely to see the sisters build their relationship over mail then text.. They didn't progress to call... They met in the middle of the story in the middle of the train route in search of a missing member. And it is at this point that they really sit down and hash their problems out. For me that was the highlight of the book. Two sisters finding their bond, their love

People may come and go, sisters are forever!!

The book does take time to get into, the sisters or the children are not likable initially, but slowly the layers get erased, and the beautiful person that each one is, comes to the forefront.

The book is not hilariously funny, but it has its humorous moments. There is also a second chance for love for both the sisters. Overall a good read.

I do love a book that leaves me smiling, and The Sister Swap certainly did that.

When Meg was 16, and Sarah 26, their parents died, and Sarah returned from London to look after her younger sister. When Meg was 18 she ran off to London and the sisters haven't spoken for 20 years.

Then circumstances change and Meg is ordered by the doctor to leave London for two months to get her blood pressure down, and I can see why as her job running a model agency seems frantic, and encourages her to go to the country to rest and recuperate.

At the same time Sarah, who now has grown up children, has been accepted back at her old job in London, the first time she has returned to work since having the children. Both sisters only know of one person who may be able to help them out with accommodation, and yet they haven't been in touch for so long.

Since they aren't on the best of terms, they do a complete house swap for the two months and over the course of that they get to see each other through the others eyes.

There are plenty of laugh out loud moments in this, and its another lovely book from Fiona Collins. I really enjoyed my time spent with Meg who is trying to re-adjust to country life and Sarah and her new colleagues, one of which really needs to be watched closely, and the couple of men who grow close to the sisters.

I also enjoyed discovering if the 20 years silence would fall away and whether or not they would ever meet face to face again. But I'm not going to say more as it would spoil it.

Easy to follow with chapter headings so you know which sister you are following now, this is an uplifting story that was incredibly entertaining.

Many thanks to HQ Digital and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This is marketed as a laugh out loud romantic comedy, and I really didn't find it funny at all. I didn't understand the how the horrible two years led these sisters not to talk for 20 years, even when children were born and a nasty divorce took place, but suddenly you needed a place to stay for awhile and your willing to bridge that gap. It was absurd. Then it was mostly just two romance stories, where the author forced the sisters upon each other. Once again it was light reading but not funny. I was not a fan.

WOW! I absolutely loved The Sister Swap.

From the title, I had initially thought the books concept would be like that from Freaky Friday – you know that scene where mum and daughter swap bodies because of a fortune cookie… but… it’s nothing like that at all!

The Sister Swap follows two sisters, Meg and Sarah who are 10 years apart in age but they haven’t spoken in years following a bitter falling out when Meg was only 18 years of age. Following the years of not speaking, the two sisters have got on with their lives, Sarah stayed in the country to raise her twins and Meg went to London to build a life for herself.
Meg runs a successful modelling agency, but when she collapses one day at work, she is forced to take herself out of London to the country, beach etc… anywhere that’s not London for 8 weeks – doctors orders! But there is only person she knows who lives in the country who she doesn’t particularly want to see.

Sarah’s twins are now 19 and are looking into their opportunities. Sarah decides she wants to change things for herself, starting with her old job as an events planner in London. But when she gets that call she knows she has to sort accommodation for herself as travelling from the country to London would take too long. But there is only person she knows who lives in London who she doesn’t particularly want to see.

Fast forward a little bit and the sisters have swapped homes and lives for 8 weeks but during this time, they both meet men who they can’t stop thinking about and have fallen for. So what happens when they have to swap back? Will the sisters ever come face to face and sort out their differences?

The Sister Swap really is the perfect summery feel good read.

I loved this book. A very heartfelt story. The characters are well developed. Enjoyed the hustling lifestyle of London and the laid back attitude of the Suffolk country side. Sarah and Meg only saw grief and mourning of their parents untimely death through their own eyes. After twenty years they do a sister swap.

The Sister Swap- Fiona Collins-4* Romantic comedy 1st June Netgalley
Meg lives in London and runs her own modelling agency which means she if full on all of the time. Her sister lives in their old family home in the depths of the countryside with her two grown children. When Meg collapses at work, she is instructed to take 2 months off- much to her horror. The only place she can think to go is her sister’s. One small issue- they have not spoken for 15 years. By chance Sarah has been given a chance at her old job at an events company to cover maternity leave so the two sisters swap abodes and lives. This is one of those feel good reads that makes you smile. A townie ending up on her backside in a cowpat, a country girl feeling out of place in a busy city. Things we have all either done or been close to so can easily picture. The ups and downs of life where ever we reside. A wonderfully uplifting read

The Sister Swap by Fiona Collins is the story of two sister Meg and Sarah who have been estranged for years, but agree to swap houses for 8 weeks. Meg runs a big modeling agency in London, but because of her work schedule has developed health issues she is forces to rest out of London. Sarah has raised two children in country, mostly on her own. They are twins now 19 years old, and she had the opportunity to work temporarily in London. This book is a fun quick read, with some romance.

A truly entertaining book! Family, careers and perhaps even a touch of romance ..

Two sisters, one with a home in the country, the other with a small flat in the capital and twenty years since they had any contact whatsoever. In the meantime Meg has built a successful business while Sarah has married, divorced and has raised her twins single-handed. Meg has never met the children although, with one of them about to head off to university, they are hardly children any more. And that's not the only thing which is going to change! Circumstances mean that Sarah is heading for the city and Meg needs a base in the country; just as she is about to phone Sarah, her mobile rings and it's Sarah calling her! They agree to swap homes for the next eight weeks. An arrangement which suits both, and with the moves imminent, neither of them has the time - or the desire - for an honest heart-to-heart about their past. Will Sarah be able to settle in the metropolis - and will Meg be bored in the countryside? And will they ever manage to just be honest with each other?

This is an absolutely charming read. It's one of those novels which I just flew through; always something going on and story unfolds at quite a pace. With smooth, flowing writing, a great storyline and realistic characters with many foibles and quirks, this is a tremendously entertaining book and one I have completely appreciated. Some really crazy situations will have you giggling uncontrollably and the next touching scene will have you reaching for the tissues. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! This is my first Fiona Collins book but I can see me reading many more.

My thanks to publishers HQ Digital for approving my request via NetGalley. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.

Two sisters with opposite lives and one fallout between them...

After their parents were killed when Meg was a derailing teenager and Sarah was mid twenties, a resentment grew between the sisters as Sarah took over their parents role in Meg's life and Meg destroyed something precious.

Now years later...

Meg was working in the busy city for a modelling agent until after fainting at work her doctor tells her to take some relaxation time off in the country.

Sarah is used to being behind a tractor but craves her city life and events planning job back after her ex husband has long gone and her kids are adults now too. She also seems tired of being a children's entertainer when required.

The two make a brief call between them and agree to swap homes for the two months Meg is signed off for. Communicating through email as they swap homes, Meg takes over Sarah's life drawing class, running of the phone box library and meets the local vet Jamie, his mum Violet and her terror of a dog, Garfield. Meanwhile, Sarah settles back into life under Michael, her old boss's expertise and helps firstly organize a baby shower and soon realizes clientele these days go for the money extravagant events where she rekindles a friendship of sorts with Dylan and old colleague. She also has to face Felicity her new job rival as she tries to sabotage plans she makes for events!

Ooh Fiona can't half write a cracking book! I fell in love with the storyline and was rooting for both sisters to get the happy ever afters hinted at for them both love and work wise! I wasn't disappointed and loved when they reunited in person over Sarah's daughter running off with her boyfriend! It was sweet and moving yet hard hitting with the children's life choices being made. I was overjoyed that both grown up women felt able to fulfill their need and want in life. This is a book for anyone craving a life change but may be too scared to, this book will inspire you!

Many thanks to be publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

This book is written in third person, and switches between the sisters which each one having alternative chapters.

As you probably guessed is about two sisters who swap lives. The older sister Sarah lives in the country and looks after her two children, who are now old enough to live their own lives. So, feeling a bit useless, Sarah applies for her old job in London and gets it.

The younger sister Meg, works in London and runs her own model agency. She's overworked and very stressed and is ordered by her doctor to get out of the London and take a break for a couple of months. The sister's haven't spoken in a long time, but agree to swap homes and essentially lives for a couple of months.

I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read, the pacing was good, and it was funny! I actually laughed out loud at some bits. The book was mostly light hearted, although their were heavier elements to the story, such as the reason the sister's didn't speak, but generally it was a nice light read.

I'm not going to go into why the sister's don't speak for twenty years, you'll have to read it and find out, but i found the reasoning very believable, and with the busy modern world we live in, i don't think it was too far fetched.

The ending was a bit predictable, but it was good. The perfect kind of story you want when you are sunning yourself on the beach.

Sarah lives in the country with her nineteen - year - old twins. They're adult enough - or at least Sarah thinks so - and don't need her anymore so much, so she decides to apply for her old job as an event planer. And she gets it! The only downside - it's in London.
Sarah's sister Meg lives in London. She's the owner of a very successful model agency however her job is stressful and Meg is advised to slow down a little, what with her high blood pressure, and take holidays in the country.
It is obvious - the sisters should swap, right? However, there is one problem - the sisters haven't spoken for years, following a falling out when 18 - year - old Meg left. But there is no other option, so they really end up swapping their houses. Are they going to survive this 8 weeks swap? Will they realise what is important in their lives now? Will they sort out their differences or are they going to get back to their old lives?

The two sisters couldn't be more different, which only made the reading more thrilling. They were both strong personalities, both stubborn, so reaching out to one another was not the easiest thing for both of them. At the beginning I had some problems to warm to Meg, to be honest. I didn't like her attitude so much, she was full of herself and was, speaking honest, quite off - putting, while Sarah was immediately likeable and felt so normal and down - to - earth. It is only when Meg gets few good ticking - offs that she starts to be a little bit apologetic and I also started to grew to like her. But they were both, as well as the background characters, really well written and developed. They also haven't expected that the swap will made them face some truths about themselves and their lives, their pasts and respective futures, so in all honesty, next to the funnier side there is also a hidden depth in this story. They have to make decisions and answer many questions, sometimes uncomfortable ones, they have to deal with their past, they have to ask themselves what they want and come to terms with what they've lost. And we all know it - making up and eating humble pie is probably the most difficult thing.

What I liked in this book was the fact that it mostly really focused on the relationship between the sisters and not so much on the romance aspect - even though there were some will they/won't they on the way, and especially Meg's budding romance was the one that drew me in - it was fun and full of hiccups and awkward situations, just what I like. It was more about the sisters finding each other again, discovering each other's lives and starting to appreciate each other, and it was lovely to accompany them on this way, to see them grow and wiser. Whatever they say, no matter how cliché it sounds, family is important.

It was so funny to see how the sisters adapt to their new places. Especially Meg at the country, where - let's be honest - there is not much to do, and when there was something she wasn't so interested, but after initial reservations she's decided to invest her time in the village's life. The outcome was mostly unexpected and embarrassing. And while seeing Sarah taking her old job as an event planer back in London and having to adapt to instagram, pinterest and other things was also hooking, the country parts were for me more colourful.
It was a really feel - good read introducing us to a city girl ending up in a cowpat and a country girl trying to adapt to the fast lanes of city life, and the differences between the places and the lives were clearly marked but the author didn't judge any of them, she only showed us ups and downs of both options, and I think she pulled it off really well.

"The Sister Swap" was a feel - good story about family dynamics, with enough drama, funny moments and happy - ever - after. It was a predictable yet pleasant read and I was intrigued by it, and I wanted to know what has happened that the sisters were estranged for so long. There were not many twists nor turns, to be honest, and you could be sure that they're going to find themselves again but it was written in a way that had me truly hooked. I think the end was a little too rushed, but it's my opinion and of course you can have a different view. Altogether I really enjoyed it. Recommended!

The Sister Swap by Fiona Collins a four-star read that will make you want to run to the country. Its taglined as the comedy of the year, and it is funny but not in the way some people will imagine. I know not everyone will understand how the sisters can go from not speaking to the swap but I have been in a similar situation with a family member and have gone from not being able to be in the same room to being the person I call upon when I need to talk, all because of one event. Its true something will shake you and you no matter what you will want to grab those closest to you and keep them close, weather you will always be able to keep the closeness is something only time can tell, and the end of the story of course. Meg and Sarah are both very different people and I think that is why the story works so well, as even though they are very different they have stark similarities. If you are looking for a light-hearted read with some comedy elements that you can while a couple of hours away with this fits the bill, if you are looking for laugh out loud all the way through, or deep drama maybe look at something else. But if you are a lady of a certain age like me then you can’t always deal with laugh out loud all the time without leakage and this book will make you chuckle enough that you will enjoy but not leak!!

I loved this book! I like the feeling of happiness surrounding the characters and how it is still possible for over 30's and 40's to find love and happiness. I am familiar with family feuds and know that it can stretch forever over something very simple. I also enjoyed the careers that the sisters started and felt part of it. This book was very well written and I look forward to reading more books by Fiona Collins.

The Sister Swap by Fiona Collins
Source: Netgalley
My Rating: 4/5 stars

Meg has spent the past twenty odd years working herself right into a heart attack waiting to happen. She came to London as an angry yet motivated 18-year-old and has since built a successful modelling agency. She has worked long hours, been more than hands-on, and earned a reputation for top-notch models whose back she always has no matter the time, day, or situation. All that hard work and dedication has led to high blood pressure and doctor’s orders to leave London and all the stress behind for a minimum of two months.

Meg’s only choice, if she doesn’t want to drop dead from a heart attack, is to prevail upon her estranged sister for a room in her old family home. Since the death of their parents and two tumultuous years of Meg being raised by her older sister, the girls have rarely spoken to one another. In fact, there is a great deal of hurt and resentment that has kept the once-close sisters apart, and calling her sister is comparable to dental work without anesthesia.

As it turns out, Meg’s sister, Sarah, also needs a place to stay. After 20 years of living in the country and raising her twins, Sarah impulsively applied for her old job as an event planner. Sarah never suspected she would actually get the job, so when she does, it’s a scramble to get packed, notify the twins, and find a place to live for the duration of the eight-week contract. Contacting Meg isn’t high on her list of fun things, but needs must and Sarah is determined to reclaim even a small bit of the life she once had.

SWAP . . . . .

With Sarah now in Meg’s London flat, and Meg back home in the country, things are going to get quite interesting. Meg hasn’t even considered country life for 20 years so getting back into the swing of things and reducing her stress levels is going to take some work. On the flip side, Sarah is once again lost in the hustle and bustle of city life and with just a few missteps, she’s back in the swing of things in no time flat. As both women are getting reacquainted with their former selves, they also have to consider their respective futures. The first step is reaching out to one another and correcting the mistakes they have made in their relationship. The second step is going to be just as complicated. Do the sisters want to make their swap temporary or permanent? Of course, life can’t be simple, so each sister has to navigate a number of questions and obstacles before making an informed decision. What's more, they have to face some hard truths about themselves, their respective pasts, and what they are learning about one another from the people who have known them the best and most intimately over the past twenty years. Making up and going home is hard to do, but often, the effort is well worth it.

The Bottom Line: I will admit having a very hard time liking Meg at the beginning of this read. Her backstory and her attitude toward Sarah is quite off-putting and it isn’t until life knocks her down a few pegs that I grew to like her. Sarah is rather likeable from the beginning which makes rooting for her and her success so very easy. This read is, ultimately, a feel-good story about family, the trials and tribulations of life, and how two sisters, a set of twins, and two romantic interests come together to create a better life for themselves and one another. While there isn’t anything emotionally overwhelming or ground-breaking here, there is a solid read with some funny moments, some tender moments, and some downright feel good moments. For fans of light family drama and HEAs, this one may well be worth your time and energy.

Family relationships can be painful, difficult and most of all filled with misunderstandings.

Sarah was 26 and Meg was 16 when their parents died. The girls had a good relationship growing up. Now, Sarah had to leave her successful career as an event planner and return from London in order to take care of Meg. Meg became everything Sarah was not. She was drinking, sleeping around, stealing and generally being a pain. Sarah spent her time giving lectures and cleaning up the messes that Meg left everywhere. Neither one of them spoke about the pain of their loss.

When she was 18, Meg left without looking back. In the 20 years since then, the two sisters have had no relationship. Sarah was married and divorced, she had twins and Meg has had no interest in any of it. Meg worked hard and became the successful owner of a modeling agency in London and Sarah has had no interest in any of it.

Now, things have changed once again.

Sarah has been called by her old events agency to come fill a temporary opening. It comes out of the blue and she jumps on the opportunity. Meg has a major health issue which makes her doctor tell her she cannot work for at least 2 months and she must go somewhere to completely separate from the stress.

So the sisters connect with one another and switch homes. Meg will return to the family home where Sarah has been living to take a rest in the country. Sarah will move into Meg's sleek city apartment where she will be able to live while working for her short term assignment.

This was quite an interesting story.

Both sisters carry the same burden of being unable to trust and get close to people. Both sisters have led lives which kept them stuck in old attitudes which were not good for building relationships.

Now both sisters are learning that there are new ways to live a life. They find new paths to happiness.

Meg and Sarah do not start out being really warm and charming characters. But, they are teachable and soon become likable. The secondary characters are entertaining. The twins appear to be self involved teens but there are layers which appear and show them to be nice people on the way to adulthood.

The reader sees the differences between fast paced business in the big city and the slower pace of country living with a village filled with interesting characters. Both places have attractions and both places are perfect for finding new lives.

This is the first book I have read by Ms Collins. I have enjoyed her writing. There is humor and that along with a well developed plot keeps the action moving along. The character development is well defined. Everyone we meet is interesting and most of them are likable.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are my own.

THE SISTER SWAP by Fiona Collins is an absorbing, witty, and engaging contemporary story about family, life, and love with characters that you will take into your heart.

Meg left her old, restricted life behind, as well as her older sister Sarah when she ran off to London all those years ago. Now she is a successful businesswoman running a top model agency and she barely has time to eat, let alone keep in touch with her only sibling. But when she collapses at work and is ordered to rest and relax in the countryside for at least eight weeks, there is only one place that she knows that fits the bill, and that's her childhood home ...

Sarah had a successful career before her parents had unexpectedly passed away and she had to return to mind her rebellious younger sister Meg. But after Meg had left, Sarah had found herself in love, married, and pregnant with twins in the blink of an eye and the countryside was everything she wanted. But now her children are adults with their own lives, her husband is now her ex, and she has lost that spark that makes life interesting, so when she applies for her old career in London and gets the job, Sarah knows this could be just the beginning of a whole new chapter in her life. But first she needs somewhere to stay and her sister is the only person she can think of ...

As the sisters swap homes for the foreseeable future they plan to avoid each other and the breakdown of their relationship at all costs, but as they both take time for themselves and rediscover who they are and what they want from life, maybe, just maybe, they can find a way to be a family again.

With hilarious shenanigans, backstabbing, secrets, and a little romance to add some spice, THE SISTER SWAP by Fiona Collins is everything you want in a good novel and that little bit more. The characters are relatable, sometimes frustrating, very likeable and the plot moves along at a lovely pace from start to finish. Definitely a must for contemporary fiction and romance fans alike.

First off a big thanks to Harper Collins and Netgalley for an early preview of this wonderful book.

I recently lost my reading mojo (don't you just hate it when that happens!) but thankfully this story pulled me back and gripped me from the beginning.

This is such a lovely easy read about two estranged sisters who haven't seen or spoken to one another for 20 years suddenly brought back together due to changes in both their lives. Meg and Sarah, 10 years apart in age were once close but due to devastating events led them to lead very separate and different lives to each other.

After leaving her childhood home for a new life in London, successful businesswoman Meg is forced to take time out for her health and decides the only place she could go to get away from the hustle and bustle of London is back to the countryside where she grew up. In the mean time Meg's older sister Sarah, single mum to teenage twins has got her big break and her old job back in the big city.

After 20 years of little to no contact the sisters reach out to one another for a favour, a place to stay for 8 weeks. They decide the best solution to avoid having to meet is to swap lives, homes, cars the lot.
The swap takes place but with the sisters now living in the shoes of one another their feelings towards each other start to change and maybe a reconciliation could be on the cards.

The story is not without some drama for both sisters, they both face a few challenges throughout their time during the swap not to mention romance is in the air for both! The ending was perfect, couldn't have thought of a better way to finish it.

This book made me laugh, smile, it made me wish I had an older or younger sister, a local village library phone box to visit and it also made me want vol-au-vents for tea! ha!

Fiona Collins is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, you just know your in for a treat when you begin reading one of her books.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Sarah is a woman at who is wondering is this all there is to life? Running after her 18-year-old twins. When is it going to be her turn again? She had a successful event coordinator career before having it to take care of her ungrateful sister Meg. She responds to an advert for her old job and keeps her fingers crossed she gets the job. Meanwhile, Meg after running as fast as she could from her sister and the country life at 18 to become a force to be reckoned with as an owner of a modelling agency in London. Meg faints and is told by her doctor under no certain terms is she to work for the next eight weeks and needs to go somewhere quiet like the country. Susan ends up getting her old job back in London and cannot leave the twins to their own devices for the next eight weeks, can she? Meg and Susan after no contact for several years contact each other desperate to live opposite of each other for the duration of eight weeks and turn their lives upside down and what they thought of each other after all these years! What a great story. I love reading stories about older women who are 40+. I cannot wait to read more books by this author.

Meg and Sarah estranged for twenty years. Both sister's lives changed because of a devastating family tragedy. They led different lives, Meg's career driven, Sarah's, forsaking her career for her family. Illness and the prospect of an empty nest make both sisters assess their lives. They make contact and agree to swap their houses but will they become family again?

Both characters are flawed, Sarah on first acquaintance appears to be the most selfless, but as the story progresses it's clear Meg's colleagues like and respect her, which Sarah finds surprising. Living in a different setting makes them realise something is missing from their previous life and gives them a new perspective.

There is a mix of comedy, romantic and thought-provoking moments in this story. Your empathy with the characters increases as the story progresses and by the end you want their new lives to succeed.

Just the book for a lighthearted beach read.

I received a copy of this book form HQ Digital via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Meg is a high flyer running her own modelling agency in London, everything is about work she has never had the time or inclination for relationships and hasn't seen her sister Sarah since they fell out years ago..... so when she collapses and the doctor says she needs to take some time out and relax in the country she is devastated.

Sarah feels that she has done her time as a full time mother now, her twins are 19 and should be able to look after themselves so she decides to go back into event planning and amazingly gets a job.....only problem is it is in London. Can the sisters swap lives, houses, cars and will it mean talking to each other!

Anther great book by this author I love her style and always look forward to reading her books the characters are always good and believable and there are always lighthearted fun incidents to look forward to

This is a fun book and kept me interested and entertained. The writing was a little clunky here and there - around the middle I really noticed it. Just too much explanation / 'excuses' that we didn't need to cover what I assume the writer thought were little holes in the story, but the cover-up just drew attention to them. Like there's a point where one of the main characters goes looking for a pen in a desk drawer so they come across something that helps the plot, and there's unnecessary fluff about how she hadn't looked in that drawer yet for whatever reason. No need. Just tell the action - better to just smooth it along, Some small typos and grammatical errors but I couldn't have written this story so who am I to criticise! Will read more by this author when I want something fun, touching and light.

Sisters Meg and Sarah haven't been close in years. But when Meg's doctor orders her to have 8 weeks of R&R in the country due to high blood pressure she calls Sarah to see if it's ok to come home to their family house in the country only to find Sarah has accepted a job in London and needs a place to stay. A house swap seems a good idea for these two in theory... but can Meg handle leaving London for her childhood home and living with the niece and nephew she doesn't really know? Can Sarah really turn back the clock and return to the job she left 20 years ago?

This was a pretty fun read overall.

Great read

I really enjoyed this story . Story begins with two sisters and their lives as there are then , it mentions that they are estranged and now live completely separate ignoring that fact that either one exists .It then moves on to tell us how their circumstances changed making them finally reach out to each other .The decision is made that due to each circumstance that they will swap living arrangements, it then continues on with their stories .A great tale of lost love .grief , relationships and family .also makes you think how rivalry can go so wrong but even after a long long time can be rescued. A nice easy read . 4 stars

An enjoyable read that provides a reminder to not always do what we’ve always done...

From mistrust and misgivings to farms and frolics, this book brings the contrasts between city and country living whilst demonstrating the highs and lows of both.

A fun tale full of believable (though somewhat frothy) characters and admittedly some eye candy - though my favourite was the country lady, Violet.

I needed an easy read to get me through a rather challenging period... and this was just what I needed.

4*
