Cheri Schmidt writes fantasy/paranormal romance and is the author of Fateful, Fractured, Forever, and The Order of Curse-Bound Knights.
Cheri will say that her head is a very crowded place, and she wishes she could write faster. She will also tell you that if you do not like glittering fairies, hot vampires with British accents, knights in shining armor, the dashing Mr. Darcy, girly-girls who wear skirts, or large amounts of snogging, then perhaps her stories are not for you.
As a writer, I really believe that just because someone doesn't like a book doesn't mean it's a bad book. Well, I really hope that someone in the world loves this book because I have little doubt that the author loves her work, just as I love my own books. I also don't like leaving a review that is hurtful, such as calling a writer an amateur and saying their jokes are like a middle-schooler, because I've had those exact things said about my books, and it made me very sad. So, I will say only the positives. I love the idea of a Mr. Darcy type character as a vampire. That made me so intrigued to read this story. As a Twilight fan, I'm super into the vampire genre, so this book has that going for it. It's very clear that the author believes in her work, as this series has had several repackaging attempts that can be seen from Goodreads history. This series is also a bestselling series, so way to go with that! That's always an accomplishment. And your newest covers are to die for! I would honestly get prints of them for my wall because they're so beautiful.
First of all, I'm glad I finished this book: I liked how it ended and it even convinced me to add the rest of this trilogy to my to-read list. It is well-written and the authors took particular attention to the details.
However, I gave it 3 stars because before getting to the last few chapters that I enjoyed, I was about to give up and set it aside few times. Throughout the whole book, I just couldn't feel attracted to the MCs. While they're supposed to be older (she's 19 and he's over a hundred and fifty years old), their dialog was too childish most of the time, and it became annoying. Also, and it's my personal reaction to some parts of the book, I felt uncomfortable reading it at times. Their behavior (PDA, the inconsiderate "mischief," ...) made me cringe inside.
Thankfully, the action picked up towards the end, and the new plot developing sounds interesting! So give it a try!

This book was ok. It kinda reminded me of Twilight. Man saves Girl, Girl Meets Man again, Girl can tell something is different but not sure what, Girl finds out what he is, Girl is terrified, Girl comes to realization that it doesn't matter.......
The book has all the great points to be a great story but something was missing. Depth? Connection? I personally did like the ending.. but that is me personally.
I thought this book was great I can’t wait to read the rest of the series, I was really hoping that he meaning Ethan that he was mortal with the vampire strength. But it was a great read.
