It’s wedding time in Cannes. Gladie’s wedding. But once again, love has to take a backseat to murder. Will Gladie’s wedding go off without a hitch? Ha! Just kidding. Enjoy the mayhem as Gladie and Spencer finally say their vows and realize their happily ever after.
Matchmaker Mysteries…sometimes love comes with a few dead ends.
Elise Sax worked as a journalist for fifteen years, mostly in Paris, France. She took a detour from journalism and became a private investigator before trying her hand at writing fiction. She lives in Southern California with her two sons. An Affair to Dismember is her first novel.
Gladie and Spencer are finally getting married! They'll finally be moving into the (jinxed) house across the street that Spencer has been renovating! They're SO excited! Problem is that there is the cold feet syndrome on Gladie's part, the match her grandmother made that has gone terribly wrong, the soon to be mother-in-law from hell and, yeah, dead bodies!!!
FYI: Do not eat or drink in public while reading this book, unless you have no problem with choking on your food or, spewing liquids through your nose
One of the funniest, so far, in this series and, that's saying A LOT!!!
Gladie will always put a smile on your face, even when she's having the week from hell. A christening (nice job on the Catholic research), her first match's wedding, and her own wedding! And then she has to interpret Zelda's visions and keep from getting arrested. Craziness amplified and then even crazier still. Sax is truly a master storyteller and great at weaving current events into play, such as legalized marijuana in California. I'm never disappointed at the end because there's always an opening for more. My review was voluntarily given after reading an early copy.
Gladie & Spencer are finally tying the knot! Think it’ll go smoothly? The road to wedded bliss is full of all the quirky, crazy, and laugh out loud moments that we’ve come to love! This is my absolute favorite series and author. Elise Sax always delivers fun!
It was a strange one. It fehlt like the end of the Series, but there’s still one book to go. Plus the new series with married Gladie later on. Gladie still doubted if she had the gift, like in every book, even though she had the first sure gift moment already in the first one and several since then. That’s just annoying. Then she meets her future in-laws and of course Spencer’s mom hates her - until suddenly not anymore without really a reason. Then, this is still supposed to be a cozy mystery. Well, waiting for the mystery to happen was like waiting for a snail to finish a sprint. When it finally came, it was barely there and so obvious she could have just left it out altogether. The wedding itself was nice, more or less, but I found it downright disrespectful how Gladie had absolutely no involvement in it, not even knowing any of the details. There were some sweet moments, between Gladie and her friends, Spencer of course and one big one with her Grandma. Still, that hardly helps getting over the many issues this one has.
Can't believe I missed reading this book! I wondered about Matilda and Gladie's friendship when I started Matilda's books, and now I know *palm smacking forehead!* - I forgot to read this book! Anyway, now I have done so, and it's fun, intriguing and kept me turning the pages. It's like visiting old, cooky friends! We have an upcoming wedding, cold feet, doubts, in-laws, mystery, laughter, THE wedding, and more laughter and mystery before it's all solved. Looking forward to the next book! (Wait, I've already read it. The one after that, then!)
This one is by far my favorite out of the Matchmaker series, even if that is like picking my favorite pair of shoes I love them all but there’s just something special about this one! It’s a roller coaster of emotions I cried I laughed I oohhed and awwwed my way through and by the end I was feeling euphoric!
Another stellar addition by Ms. Sax to her Matchmaker Mystery series. Gladie and Spencer are getting married and as expected there is mystery, chaos and laugh-out-loud humor as they try to tie the knot. I can always count on Ms. Sax for a romantic comedy with a touch of murder.
It's a Wonderful Knife is the tenth book in Matchmaker Mysteries Series. The wedding is approaching and as crazy as things can get in Cannes they are to become even crazier, just to make Gladie's life more complicated. Oh my God, this book is so over the top! It has weddings, deaths, dictators, sex robots, pot buses and the list goes on and on and on. I laughed, I even cried, sometimes I was even left dumbfounded. I don't think that anyone but Elise Sax can put so many outrageous and extravagant characters and things into one book and make it a smashing hit.
I have read all the matchmaker mysteries books (so far), and loved every one! Gladie and Spencer finally the the knot!!! Just reading Spencer's declaration of love had my heart melt and laugh at the same time. While I want to avoid spoilers here, I can say that you will see where this may be the happily ever after for our main character (Gladie), there is more to come from this bumbling matchmaker/ murder solving maven. I look forward to seeing more from this author and this series. 5 stars!
I have followed The matchmaker mysteries since the very first book, and I gotta say that I really, really hated to see this story end. Elise Sax is so gifted and descriptive that although The town of Cannes is fictitious, she makes you not only believe, but she makes you want to visit for a latte from tea time.
I could not out this book down! Literally, I had to go the the bathroom so bad. But I had to finish the book first. No spoilers for this one. Suffice it to say, it is awesome.
This is by far my favorite series. I could read a grocery list written by Elise Sax and would find it hilarious. Thank you Elise for bringing Gladie and Spencer into my life. I highly recommend you read all 10 books - so good!! I can't wait to see what Elise has for us next!
I love to laugh out loud. My husband thinks I'm nuts. Had me worried there but can count on a happy ending. Ready to read Mitildias story, and Ship of Ghouls!
This is a series that I know I will read over and over again. This particular book was my favorite so far. I laughed AND cried. Heartwarming with a capital H. I'm sad there's only one book left in this wonderful series.
I read the first book in the Matchmaking Series and it had me hooked. I read book after book. I love Elise Sax's writing. I find it hilarious and enjoyable.
All hail the queen. Elise Sax out does herself with every book. I always think, how can it get better yet it does! I didn't stop laughing the whole time.
Gladie Burger meeting her soon to be mother in law was hysterical. I could see some things coming even though I don’t have the Gift but it was still a great read.
I enjoy these light and funny stories. The adventures and misfortune/fortune that follow Gladie are great! Oh my...the things Spencer said about Gladie...I melt.
Such a fun series of books, they just keep getting better and better. Once again there is mayhem, murder and then, marriage!!! The house doesn't survive, but Zelda does. Highly recommended.
