On the run from deadly mercenaries in the outer reachers of Trill System, Lianetta Jansen and her ragtag crew come across a distress signal from a stricken freighter. On investigation, they are drawn into a trap that will send them spiraling across the galaxy, battling with slave traders and facing off against immense invasion fleets, as they attempt to protect both their own lives and those of millions of innocent people.
Fire Storm is the explosive follow up to Fire Fight, Chris Ward's warmly received space opera epic.
Chris Ward is the acclaimed author of more than a dozen novels, including the dystopian Tube Riders series, and the YA Fantasy Endinfinium series.
Fire Storm is the second book in The Fire Planets Saga series. I don't recommend reading this book as a standalone or you will have a hard time understanding the storyline. Plus it ends in a cliffhanger for the next book. There is violence. This is an interesting Sci-Fi series that has great world building. I have come to like the two main characters, Lia and Caladan, as well as their side-kick robot Harlan-5. I look forward to reading the next book to see what happens from here.
This is one of those books that will suck you and spit you out the other side. The author has created a rich world/worlds for you to become lost in. The characters are perfectly flawed, and their banter- well it will definitely have you smirking! The storyline has a few twists and turns that keep you turning pages. If sci-fi is your thing, then get into this series!
A space war is looming and a things will get dangerous for a crew above one spaceship. They are on the run from trouble and end up being pushed across the galaxy. They are about to be drawn into a war. Can they survive the battle of their lives? See if they can
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Allow a full, long day for this PG13 space opera that picks up three years after Fire Fight, which I strongly advise you to read first to avoid spoilers. I had an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
A cracking series! This series is really shaping up to be great fun - there is great world building (or worlds), and a solid plot with sufficient twists and turns to make good reading. However, what I really like about it is the irreverent heroine Lia, somewhat of an antihero, plus her crew, producing enough witticisms and wisecracks that make sections of this book light enough to counteract the dismal situations in which they keep finding themselves. The main protagonist remind me hugely of Jazz in Andy Weir's Artemis, so if you liked that, you will probably love this book! I certainly did.
